I get extremely dry skin on my hands in the colder months, and I've tried everything, but nothing really helps. I'm already noticing that my hands are getting dry. So, what works for you?

Hi!
I too have extremely dry hands, especially this time of year. I use Lubriderm Advanced Therepy - I REALLY like the fact that it doesn't have give my hands that greasy feel after I use it.

My hands get really dry and scratchy in the winter too. I try new things all the time, but always end up going back to Jergen's, probably becasue my mom swore by it ;) No matter what I use, I have to reapply often in the winter. I found that Keri lotion worked pretty well but I didn't like the smell. I have a lotion dispenser by the kitchen sink and the bathroom sink all winter!

Last year, for Xmas DD got me a bunch of the little tubes of different anti-bacterial hand lotions in different scents from Bath N Body works. I would keep one in my desk at work. Since I work with the public frequently, I always kept some of that waterless cleanser gel there too. First I'd use the cleanser, then apply some nice scented lotion a few times a day.

I really like Vaseline Intensive Care's Renew and Protect for everyday.

I also like the Bath and Body Works because they smell good, but they don't really help my dry hands.

I swear by Palmer's Cocoa Butter. They have it in lotion and cream. I use the lotion during the day and the cream before bed. It really helps heal the cracks and lines of dry skin.

Try the Aveeno lotion or cream with oatmeal. It works great!

I am a Registered Nurse, so you can imagine how many times a day I wash my hands...needless to say they usedto get very dry. I tried many creams, but the miracle for me was "Glysomed". It is in a 2 tone green tube or flat jar...I love it. No greasy feeling afterward either.

I have a bad problem with this too... I have psoriasis and wash my hands frequently. The only over-the-counter lotion I've found that works and doesn't burn my hands is Curel. The original is what I use, but now they have a scent-free. Weird, I thought the original was the scent-free. The lotion doesn't last through the hand-washings, but it's good for after work.

I like Neutrogena hand cream, but if my hands are really bad (dry cracked and irritated I use Aquaphor before I go to bed. It is expensive, but worth it's weight in gold!

Thanks for all the replies! I think my problem is that I wash my hands a lot (with 2 kids and a dog, I have to, lol!) but then I don't always put lotion on afterwards. I guess I'll have to work on that!:D

my dermatologist recommended Eucerin for my cracked hands. i have super sensitive skin, and i used to work in the food industry...translated to lots of hand washing and chemicals. the only time i need it anymore (dont work anymore!!) is in the winter. works wonders though. cost is about $10 for a bottle but it is worth it!

My hands get dry & crack too - I garden & am ,frankly, a little OCD about handwashing :p The only cream I've found that really works wonders on my hands is Crabtree & Evelyn's Gardener"s Therapy - It smells wonderful too - herbal - my hubby uses it too...

The BEST lotion for anything I have found is from Lotions and Potions(I know they are in Phoenix) and they also have a web site. But I go to Phoenix at least once a year to visit my best friend she told me about this it is the ADE lotion that they sell. I have been using this for a few years and stock up when I go there or have her send me some. I will be able to replenish my supply in a couple weeks when I go there.
