View Full Version : A recent example of "appropriate" dress at an upscale restaurant.

Hardly a week goes by without another dress code question being posted on the boards. And the responses often vary:D
But I was just thinking of our May dinner at Palio and how it shows the wide variety of what is truly appropriate and what people will be wearing at these sort of restaurants. We got to Palio about 10 minutes before they opened. Already at the podium was another couple-the gentleman has on a sport coat, a tie, and slacks. The lady had on a long, lightweight black dress--not a gown, but a summer type dress. Then we arrived in our theme park casual--walking shorts, tennis shoes, Disney T-shirts. A few moments later, 3 fellows (around 30 years of age or so) show up. Two are wearing slacks and golf type shirts. The third is in shorts, a plain white undershirt-type T-shirt, sandles and no socks.
Just after we are seated, a couple with a child arrive and are seated at a table just to the side of us. The child has on shorts, t-shirt, and those tennis shoes that light up. The man is wearing shorts, collared shirt, tennis shoes, no socks. The lady has on jogging pants and a fancy t-shirt.

So with just these four sets of "diners" there are four quite different styles of dress--

that's what I love about WDW!!!!!
I think all of those outfits are acceptable , as long as they are clean.

In the mornings, I usually wear denim shorts and a t-shirt and my DH wears shorts and t-shirt. These are "newer" clothes and I always iron everything before packing.

In the evening, we change into nicer shorts or pants and a nice blouse for me, nicer shorts and collared shirt for DH- even when our PS in the parks.

DS is 4 and I pack all nice shorts and clean , newer t-shirts for him. He always looks cute!

Our recent trip to AKL was a little different in that one night we did not go back to the parks, but dined at Boma. I wore a dress and sandals. DS was at Simba's so DH and I got an evening (more like an hour) alone. It was so nice.

Quite a variety, I must admit.

This is the way it was meant to be. A little of this, a little of that. Dress as diverse as the guests and all appropriate.

Why are the smiley faces eating the horse?

Re: dress, I've seen a wide variety. When I go to Citricos/V&A, I always wear a very nice evening dress and my fur. Cocktail dress for Artist Point, CA Grill, etc.

I'm a snob. I believe in dressing for dinner but it doesn't bother me at DisneyWorld what others wear. You are on vacation and everyone should feel comfortable. As long as you are wearing a top and pants, I'm cool.

You mean I have to wear pants, too?? That'll add some bulk to my suitcase ;)

Actually, I often change from t-shirt to a polo shirt when going out to a nicer dinner. Beyond that, though, I leave my jackets, suits, tuxedos, etc. in my closet at home!! :)
