This may sound odd but I know there are other malls (even the local one) where DSRL's are not allowed. Are cameras allowed at the Mall of America? I know dumb question, but I dont want to bring my expensive camera only to have to store it (and then worry about it). Only reason I want to bring it is for photos at Nick Universe (I teach and my kids want me to meet sponge bob), underwater adventures and rainforest cafe. Also how would I take photos of the fish when they will be behind glass in a darker setting (its a tunnel with glass on 3 sides (with fish!)

Call the mall management office ahead of time, they will be able to tell you their policy.

I don't know about their rules but for the aquarium, I have had good luck with my 35/1.8 and no flash. If you absolutely need a flash you will likely want a polarizing filter and make sure that the flash is not pointed in your field of view. Also try shooting through the glass at an angle instead of straight on to reduce the glare/reflections.
A tripod would be nice but if I remember correctly the tunnels there are fairly tight and have a moving walkway, right?

I have taken my dslr to the MOA on several occassions & have never had a problem. I've taken pictures of the kids on the rides, playing with the lego, and even with Snoopy & Lucy (yes, that one was a few years ago :lmao:).
It would not hurt to call & ask, but unless things have changed in the last few months, I don't think you should have a problem.
