A chilly few days on the Dream from Jan 11-14, but great fun. Many pictures and some answers from earlier requests before SSB departed. Some quick facts:

Ceiling height = 83"
Cabin door = 26", other doors in room 23"
Accessible door = 35" (more on below)
Refrigerator = 15" x 21"

No life vests used during the Safety drill anymore

Aqua Duck Hours:

Tuesday (day one)
12:15-2:45
4:30-8:30

Wednesday (day two)-Pirate Night
12:00PM-9:30PM
10:45-12:00Midnight

Thursday (day three)
9:00AM-8:30PM

No draft beer on board ... not sure if the case (pun intended) for the long term.

KTW key opens door by waiving in front of lock sensor on door (many were mystified at first)

Key card must be inserted in slot just inside door for lights and TV to work/remain working.

Noticed in many stateroom pics posted that the steamer trunks are gone and looks like one side of drawers in the desk were replaced by the fridge. Did the supplement the loss of clothing storage with drawers or shelves in the closet?

First two had menus posted out front that I took pictures of, but not for EF. I think posted elsewhere so did not include in report.

The coffee table (?) is empty and has hinged top to use as storage. DS kept all of his belongings in there. I would say with the raised bed and that, that I felt more storage available overall than the classic ships.

What a great trooper you are for measuring all those rooms, hmm...now I wonder what the height is for the rooms on the Wonder/Magic, guess I"ll be taking a measuring tape in March!! I'm soo happy you got a picture of the Deluxe family room, it really does look more spacious and probably worth it for us to upgrade to...I'm just wondering where the 5th person would sleep?

Thanks so much! Awesome job!!! :)

We ended up only having four due to exams, but I believe the fifth is a pull down twin from the wall near the verandah (in addition to the bunk bed type set up, which we did use)

Enjoyed both Golden Mickeys (although seen many times, liked updating) as well as Believe (which I had not seen). Always tear up on those father/daughter heartfelt type scenes ... ha-ha!

It was very chilly but AquaDuck a big hit. It helped I think with much lower wait times, so I am not sure on how all timing will play out when busy.

I spent more time at spa (rainforest) than pools, and liked the additional rooms/space there. Wish I had one at home like that! :)

Awesome Pics!!
and thank you for the stateroom door measurement.
We are going on the Dream in Oct, we just came off the RCL Monarch of the Seas last week.

My mother's scooter is 24" wide and did not fit through the MoS stateroom door (normal room). Wisely we booked a room in the bow of the ship, where the hallway was very wide, so we were able to leave it in the hall, but it would be nice to be able to bring it in the room.

We don't have a specific room on the Dream yet, just a guaranteed category. So its nice to know I don't have to worry about scooter parking. :)

Thank you again for the info!

Hm. Thanks. I should have paid more attention to the specifics. That would have most likely worked better for my family than the pull down bed over the couch.

We're in a "Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah" per the DCL site.

What about Cabanas? I love the decor, but some of the pictures have me confused. is Cabanas like Topsider and BBB where you go in and it's a long line of various items or is it set up like different sections so you can skip over things you don't like and go to a different section? You're in a Cat 5 or 6 room, then, versus the Cat 4 (or V) that SSB posted pictures of. The Cat 4 Verandah and Cat 8 Family Oceanview rooms sleep up to 5, and have the upper bunk AND the murphy bed for the 5th person.

I viewed it as a ginormous version of those, with multiple areas that you could start from. The first day I was trying to find family up there and felt like it was a maze as so large. I loved being able to just go to sushi or other section and pick up what I liked, without long wait/line at the time.

It was quite a bit larger than the classic ships and more overall options. I spent most time in the stream/aromatheropyish ones, of which there were two. There were also dry-heat option ones available as well as two large hottubs more on private deck area (I saw part of sail away party from there) as well as a slew of heated lounges for relaxing inside. There were four (or more?) specialty showers with different mists/heates/scents. Really one of my favorite spots on the DCL ships. I bought a pass for all three days where you get a bit of a discount ... I can't find right now but seems like $50 or so and I felt like great value for time spent there.

Yep, a 5E. My boys will be little- 3 and 21 months. I've got quite awhile (2012:rotfl:) to figure out specifics of sleeping arrangements but the murphy bed probably would have worked better. Who knows. They'll be so small that we won't have much of an issue figuring something or another out

I don't believe this is the case. On the website for the "Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah" for a Category 05A the under "Room Configuration" it says: "Queen-size bed, single convertible sofa, upper berth pull-down bed if sleeping 4, split bath with tub and shower."

SSB -- Thanks so much for the great pictures and helpful info.

I have a question that I had not seen addressed yet. What did you think of the round tub in the cat 4 (would be same for cat 8) bathroom? It just looks like an odd size in the pictures that I saw on DCL's website. I know the idea was it would easier for bathing children ... but could an adult even fit in the tub? It just intrigues me the way it seems to "bump out" into the room space by the bed. Are we losing floor space in the main room, but not really gaining usable tub space?

I'm liking the round tub from a showering perspective. Hopefully no more elbows sticking to the shower curtain! Also LOVE the bench style seat that is built in. But I'm betting most adults won't be able to use it as a tub. SSB...where's your tape measure! :)

Loving reading the report, and the pics!

Did they still have a sauna in the men's locker room, along with the showers? Did they happen to add anything else, like a steam room -- or is the only option in the co-ed area?

There's all you can eat sushi on board??? Woweeeee!!!

At Cabana's did they bring you drinks, or did you have to get them yourself?

Upon embarkation, did you have an option where you wanted to go for lunch?

What was the "salad bar" like on the top deck? (I THINK I saw that on Flo's menu)

OK, I'm not a sushi fan, but someone that is thinking of traveling with us is! So my question....dearest SSB (you are AWESOME for putting up with all of annoying question-askers....) is did Cabana's have the sushi station always available or on some sort of rotation?

Thanks,

Stupid question, but how do you eat the Shrimp/Cheesecake thing? Is it served with crackers or something for dipping or do you just eat it with a fork?

Not stupid at all, as surely a unique dish. It was tasty, and just eaten with a fork .. don't recall anything else on plate, etc. Enjoy!

Thanks again!

That one was a surprise for me when entering room. I think that it did give a bit more shower space but to small a tub for an adult (at least for me!) :) It does bow out a bit into the room (you spotted) but the general room still felt a bit larger to me than on the classic ships. Darn, I should have measured! :)

I'm liking the round tub from a showering perspective. Hopefully no more elbows sticking to the shower curtain! Also LOVE the bench style seat that is built in. But I'm betting most adults won't be able to use it as a tub. SSB...where's your tape measure! :)

Good point ... I MISSED measuring that one! Guess that I'll have to return... ;)

Thanks so much!!! I was in there changing a few times and think that the same set up as classic with the sauna and shower's. I like the new method of just picking out locker and assigning your own password (instead of key at desk)

Upper berth pull-down bed is the 'bunk' bed. The Murphy wall bed is in the Cat 4 and 8 staterooms that sleep five people and pulls out of the wall. :thumbsup2

Well, with compliments like that I can answer all day ... ha-ha! I don't think that the sushi station was there the first day, so must be on some type of rotational basis. I thought that it was well done, and did have good amout of traffic from guests. I'd like some now! :)

I think I was not more specific because I was answering the question in post #42 (back on page 3) which had a picture of the Murphy bed up against the wall and the poster asked what cabin category it was. I assumed people reading my response would also have looked at the picture.

Cabins on the Dream that accomodate four people have the standard bed which sleeps two, the sofabed which sleeps one and the bunkbed which pulls down from the ceiling which sleeps one.

The cabins with "family" in their description, like the cabin pictured in post #42add a murphy bed which pulls down from the sidewall and sleeps one.

Sorry for any confusion I caused.

Both good questions, but I think my itinerary was maybe an odd one. We had "The Golden Mickeys" the first night, no "show" on the Pirate night, and then "Believe" the third night. Not sure what they'll do on the official itineraries.

Oh my goodness! That sounds fantastic! Can I leave my kids with any of you so my wifeand I can cruise without them this time? :lmao:

SSB, this is amazing! We have to wait until Nov to go on our cruise and I have been DYING to get a taste of what's to come. I have never done drugs, but I think you are my dealer anyway! :)

One question, with the adult pool, it seems that so much of it is used up in a shallow water area leading to the bar, a sitdown area and then a little tiny pool to actually "swim" in. How small is that actual pool area that is deeper?

Thanks again!

Wow, you learn something everyday. You made me interested, because I didn't think it looked like Pink... so the search was on. I looked on the DCL site and looked at all the lounges, but none of the ones listed looked like they had that furniture or that view... and then voilla! I did a deck search until I clicked on deck 14 and there it is. It is a lounge called "Outlook". It isn't even listed in the list of lounges... so already we are finding hidden Mickeys onboard! :)

Looks like a great place to go for the view.

Too funny... GREAT detective work. I did think that it was called "Outlook" or "Overview" or the like... ha-ha! It was when I was sneaking in and out of other areas for pictures when first on board the ship. :)

Just a question regarding the new electrical stuff. If you put your KTTW card in the slot to turn on the power, are there still switches by which you can turn the lights on/off? For example, could we keep the KTTW card in the slot overnight, turn the lights off, and watch TV in bed?

The weather was pretty chilly for our cruise, so it was hard to judge the crowds to pool ratio yet. I did think that the spa was much larger and should be go to go for the crowds, as fairly active on my cruise and enjoyed the extra space/features!

wow this is an awesome thread and the pictures are awesome as well!

Ooohhh, foosball table! Thank you Disney :worship: :thumbsup2 :lmao:

I did not even know about this mini-golf stuff either. Wow! :)

Are there foosball or ping-pong tables near the pools like on the Magic or just up on the sports deck? My ds loved popping in the pool and then popping back out to play foosball and ping-pong and it was easy for me to keep track of him ;)

Am I the only one that doesn't like the location of the golfing? I love being able to walk (AND stand) all away around the deck. (Especially in the mornings) This looks like I'll no longer be able to do that. ????

SSB - thank you so much for posting so many wonderful photos of the ship and all the great details. :)

I'm really looking forward to my cruise on the Dream in May also in a cat 4D (deck 6). Can you tell me which deck you were on? Do you have any pictures off your verandah?

For the spa - did you book your 3 day pass in advance or once you got on the ship?

Thanks for taking the time to answer everyone's questions. :goodvibes

Is the Goofy Golf going to be free of charge? Does anyone know?

Has anyone seen pictures of the faux portholes? I am very curious.

Yes, the golfing was free (though not open until the last day as they were finishing)

I believe this is on a seperate area, perhaps on top of one the stacks? Anyway, you will be able to walk the perimeter of the ship ALL the way around ;)

Is there room to hang (or a place to hang) fish extenders on the Dream??? Does it hang? Will it cover the key entry?? I am curious. Also, if we are in the Conceirge rooms...can we participate in fish extender activities? You mentioned the rooms weren't accessible. So I am curious if people could deliver "goods/treats" to us.

Excellent thread, SSB! You really had me laughing with the pictures, or should I say comments, on the pictures shown in the last post!

My question - does the Nemo/Splash/play area seem to be a little dark underneath there? I mean, not dark-dark, but to be out in the middle of the ocean under sunny skies, it seemed a little dark. Hoping it was just the picture.

Yes... the seahorse and starfish that you see in the pictures I think will work fine for the fish extenders ... but a VERY good question/point about the Concierge area of ship, as it does look like it will be restricted. PS: From SC originally (Charleston)

Thanks for your kind note! We were 7th floor, midship (7610). Alas, my only verandah shot is before we sailed so pretty boring. I'll add some more below of other things, including cool two-way radios in all rooms that also communicate with room. I bought the pass that first afternoon on board for the Rainforest dealee. :)

I remember it being cloudy so may have been part of the issue ... and I recall that I was fretting that my camera was going to get wet, so I took it VERY quickly... ha-ha!

Thanks! I love my SC folks...LOL! I'm in Florida now...but from Clemson and went to CU for college.

I'm wondering if Disney would have the foresight to hang some fish (or seahorses...whatever) on a wall outside the gated area??? Or if you could leave your FE with the service desk -- although not as exciting to come and check. Coming to your room with "mail" is a little more exciting.

I am sure someone will be creative enough to figure out a way around this. I'm looking forward to knowing what the solution is b/c I really want my kids to participate with FE. :thumbsup2

I've seen pics of 2 phones/1 charger and pics of 3 phones/1 charger- so is there only one charger per room regardless of how many phones? Just curious.

All of us are just so excited to finally get answers to questions we've been woindering for so long!!!

My question, unless I missed it, what are the breakfast options?? Is there anywhere that serves a sit down breakfast? Where are the options for buffet for breakfast. Could you comment on what's best.

Thank you!

Do you have any info on the clocks in the rooms? If I remember correctly the propeller clocks were just for decorative purpose. Are they old style, as in hour hands, or digital? Lighted dails that glow at night (for the dark inside cabins)?
Do they have alarms you can set and use? Wake to alarm, music, nature sounds?

Thank you for all the great info. I was wondering if you have to go barefoot on the aqua duck or can you wear a aqua shoe. My DH has a phobia about bare feet.

I think aquashoes are recommended.

yeah, I noticed that too. I guess the

I believe most of it is in the shade purposely to shield kids from the hot sun....I remember reading that in one of the Disney blogs, I think...not so good for cooler days though!!

Did you happen to notice how many people the table seatings were for? It looked like in RP that there were tables of 8 or so... Did they do away with smaller seatings in other restaurants?
