Just curious, how many of you still watch VHS tapes?

I only buy DVDs & when someone says "tape" in regards to a movie I tend to think of it in the same way as an audio casette vs. a CD, but I guess some people still only have a VCR?

We have a huge collection of things on VHS. Some haven't been released on DVD that I've found yet so while most of the time we watch DVDs (basically only rent them now) on occasion I will pop in a tape.

I voted DVD only, but I do have some archive stuff that is only available on tape(i.e. some Disney material:D ) Videotape is going the way of the audio cassette.

We watch both....
Anything I buy now (and I'd say in the past year) is DVD, but we already own hundreds of Video Tapes, so we watch both

We buy movies on DVD if we can but occasionally the VHS is on sale or the movies is only available on VHS. VHS is also easier for the kids. It's a pet peeve of mine that they didn't put dvds into a case of some kind so they don't get fingerprinted and scratched. It seems to me that would have been easy to do but it's too late now.

I just bought myself a dvd/vcr player. All my trips that I have taken are on VHS so I still need to play them on something to get those good memories. Movies I buy DVD.:D

We only buy DVD's at this point. We still watch many videos and laserdiscs from our collection.

We also only buy DVD now but we have a lot of VHS.
Does anyone else get impatient with Disney releasing thier movies on DVD? I want all the Disney classics on DVD but they only release a couple of them a year it seems. I would LOVE to have Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella on DVD. Beauty and the Beast is already coming out soon and Snow White has been out for a while so I'm ready for the other two classic princesses.

We only buy DVDs now, but we still have tapes and VCRs. We didn't upgrade until about a year ago. We almost always rent rather than buy, so it wasn't like we were buying tapes that were going to soon be out of date. When Episode I came out, we had to buy a DVD player. :)

I have hundreds of VHS tapes.....and I do still mostly watch those.
I buy a lot of VHS tapes still, but only the really inexpensive ones (like $7 and lower).....because ;) .......the little TV that sits on the computer desk is one of those combo TV/VHS player :teeth:
New releases, we buy DVD....and also ones that get inexpensive.
I don't sit in the family room that often. We have DVDs still in their wrappers.

We are still sticking with the tapes, although when the kids want a new movie I"m starting to think we should buy DVD's because we will get one eventually. My Mom is getting one for oldest DS for X-mas. We also have the VCR/TV combo in our van. I'm not planning on replacing all my old videos with DVD's. That has me bummed out, all those Disney tapes I was going to give to the kids some day!!

We buy/rent DVDs. I did recently buy a VHS exercise tape b/c it was cheaper and I don't care about the quality of an exercise tape. :) I don't have too many VHS tapes...the most important is our wedding video. It would be great to get that on DVD since it's so long. :)
However, we did just buy a brand new VCR b/c we lost the remote control to our old one and couldn't set the VCR to record shows we would miss. We didn't want to go through the hassle of trying to find a new remote, so we just bought a new VCR since ours was really old. Plus, the new VCR has connections in the front that we can connect the camcorder to. :) I actually felt odd buying a VCR at Best Buy, though.
still living in the world of VHS..

We buy DVDs only now, but we still have many VHS tapes at home. We are trying to (slowly) buy DVDs to replace each VHS tape, but many VHS tapes we have are not available in DVD format.

Haven't bought a VHS in 4 years. The only time we do, it's a gift for a relative who just isn't sure that this DVD 'fad' will last.
Many stores have already announced that they're going to phase out their VHS sections entirely.

DVD only, and only if widescreen. Anamophic preferred.

We only buy DVD's now but I still have a bunch of VHS's that I will continue to watch. I don't think I will replace them with DVD's until they break or the VCR quits on us.
We still haven't bought a DVD player, so all of ours are VHS. I'm thinking maybe this Christmas we'll break down and get a DVD player, or one of those combination DVD/VHS players. Do any of you have the combo players? Are they any good? I like the idea of the combo - less wires behind the tv.

We only buy or rent DVDs. The only time we watch VHS is when we pop in the homemade family videos.
