Any Tips for Photographers when ordering the PhotoPass CD?

I hear you need to order 5x7s to get an uncropped picture?

If needed how do you do that and are there any other tips?

You only need to save your pics in a different size if you intend printing them in that size and once they have borders on. The originals without borders will automatically crop slightly to re-size when you print them, for example if you print 5x7 as by default they are saved as 4x6. What you don't want is for the border to be cropped.

So say you have a pic of you in front of the castle and you add a border and think you might want to print a 5x7 and a 4x6. You would add the border and save it as 4x6 and then save as, again, as a 5x7. You will see a little drop down box near the top left of the page where you are working and it will show the size of the photo you save.

I have found the Photopass site to be frustratingly slow and thought it may have improved by the end of last year, but it was as lethargic as ever! So my suggestion is to sit and work on your photos when you are in a relatively good or relaxed mood. ;)

When I ordered our Photopass pics online after our trip last year, I was able to have them printed in the various sizes. The standard digital "size" is 4 x 5.3" (or something close to that) vs the 4 x 6" from 35mm film.

When I ordered the 4 x 6 prints I was able to select them to not crop. The 4 x 6 prints had a small white border at the two short ends. I just cropped them off before using them in my scrapbook album, putting them in frames & handing them out to the family.

A friend of mine ordered her prints as 4 x 6 and some of the borders (parts) were cropped out of the prints.

Good luck!

When you give your photopass card to the photographer, ask them if they do any "magic" shots. You'll get a fun surprise in your photo.
