2003 guidebook

Has anyone hear received their new guidebook? It is half past September and there is still no guidebook in Los Angeles.
The 2004 point charts are up on the dvc website so I am guessing some of us have received the book.

Please let me know!

Ha! I never got a 2002 guidebook, despite multiple requests throughout the year....

If I don't have my guidebook this year by my Dec. trip I will be going into the DVC offices to find one! Or I'll be making an appointment with Ms. Leuders at Member Satisfaction.

The 2004 point charts are up on the dvc website so I am guessing some of us have received the book. I haven't received one here in Indiana either, but I'm not surprised. Seems that the Vacation Magic is always on the website before it shows up in my mailbox too!

I'm also hoping the new book holds together better than the old one. Ours is in tatters. Glad it's not just ours though... I was thinking I was just too obsessive about using it all the time!

But I would imagine they have some method, maybe alphabetically, or by state, or by home resort, or maybe even by member number?

but no VM. Guide Book arrived today. To answer the question re: binding - No, doesn't look like it is going to hold up any better than the last one. The photography and colors are beautiful though. Much prettier than last year's, in my opinion.

Vacation Magic is magazine for DVC members that offers current news about the DVC resorts. It comes every 3 months in the mail. ;)

I got mine yesterday and I don't like it nearly as much as last year's. I think the pictures are bad - no pictures of rooms - just one picture of the outside of each resort and then a couple family shots. Design-wise I think it's the least appealing disney item I have ever seen...

Regarding binding: maybe we should suggest that DVC use spiral binding? I don't think it's expensive.

I haven't seen the new guidebook, but if it has paper covers, maybe the following idea would help those of you who read your guidebook a lot...

If the inside margins of the pages are wide enough, take your guidebook to a copy center like Kinko's and have the staff there cut off the original binding. The staff can then do one of two things:
- they can install a spiral coil binder on the guidebook (I know Kinko's has spiral coils in several colors)
- they can punch three holes in the pages so you can take then home and insert them in the original 3-ring DVC binder if you have one

I am guessing that this work at the copy center would cost $5-6 at most.

It takes a day or so to cross the river! Although I think all of our mail is first sorted in Westchester.

ncligs-OUCH! I know the cruise pts. hurt. We are going on the 3-day Wonder in Dec. w/ a $99 per person coupon we rec'd last Jan. that I used a combination of banked and borrowed point and cash. It is not something I would do alot but it was definately worth it , especiall w/ the $99 coupon perk.

I also received my book on Saturday, Sept. 14 in central New Jersey. We enjoyed looking through that evening. The pictures (especially the cover) look a bit too fake - like done in front of a blue screen. I also find it confusing not to have the point charts included with the resort information (although I can understand the reason for putting all point charts together).

Overall, I prefered the binder (and still love having it on my bookshelf), but this guide seems well written and it clearly contains the keys to a couple of magical vacations for our clan ;)
