Hi, all. Here's my story about Dis-Con I.

I didn't hang out on the Dis-Con Board much before Dis-Con. I wasn't sure about letting myself get close to the people on the board before we met in person. I have had a lot of loss in my life. The only family members that I have left are my husband, my sister, and her husband. We are a very small family. Our family gatherings are definitely small and intimate. ;) So, I was scared to about getting too close to the people on the board and finding out that we weren't really friends.
:( :( :(

When it came time to meet everyone, I was so nervous and scared. Well, we all met for the first time at the Whispering Canyon, and it seemed like seeing old friends again. ;)

Our friendships have become so much more than just "online" friends. I've traveled to people's houses, I chat with someone from The Dis Con Board every day, and I consider them my lifelong buddies. I'm even taking a 2400 mile road trip with Thelma (Barb) in a couple of weeks.

To everyone that hasn't registered yet, but is sitting on the fence between wanting to go and not sure about going, this is all I have to say:

You might be missing out on the chance to meet a lifelong friend or friends. :teeth: </font>

'A Gathering of Friends' seemed like a 'marketing ploy' to some, I'm sure. But most of us took it very seriously ;) and that is exactly what is was....A HUGE Gathering of Friends. I know we sound sort of corny (sp?), but some of us found our bestest friends at DIS-Con. ::sniffle sniffle:: I can't imagine my life without my new friends. I just can't. :) :) :)

Dayna! You are so right! DISCONI was like a family reunion with people I actually liked :) I don't think I met one stranger there. It was just magical and this year is going to be even more magical.

Dayna - I so agree with what you said - I, too, was very unsure of what to expect and came away from DIS CON with some of the best memories of lots of DISers I met there. I am looking forward to all the fun again - it makes me smile just to sit here and type those words "fun again". Looking forward to sharing many good times with my new friends in December!

I couldn't have said it better myself. I felt like I was meeting up with old friends and those friendships have developed into something incredible! :teeth:
You won't be sorry! There is nothing like going to WDW with other Disney nuts like yourself. :p :p
