My camera makes the shutter noise by then it says Camera error. The photos come out black. The camera got dropped (woops!) a few weeks ago. What could cause this? Also what would cause my back screen (veiw screen thing?Cant think of the right name) to flicker. Its really frustrating!

I hate to say it, but that sounds really bad. I believe you are going to need professional repair. If it is within warranty, you might get it covered by the manufacturer, but even they might call it misuse and charge you. That would be my first stop though. If it is out of warranty, you might look for a local repair service. If none are available, then you can still contact the manufacturer, but be aware that their services are typically expensive and usually not worth it.
If it turns out to be not worth fixing, you might try selling as is on Ebay. You would be surprised what you can get for a broken camera.

It could be something as simple as a loose connection inside, or as bad as a broken sensor and then some. Like ukcatfan said, get it checked out. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best.

What is your camera? I am assuming it is a DSLR since you say that you hear the shutter. If it is am entry level model, I personally would just buy something new. You might be able to get a refurb for a decent price if it is a Canon, since they have a customer loyalty program. If you are not heavily invested in your brand, you could also consider other brands now.
If it is a p&s, then you should just replace it.

I believe the OP has a Sony Alpha A230. At B & H that camera with the 18-55 f3.5-5.6 SAM lens is $349.95. That lens alone is selling for around $199 new. If the funds are available it may be cheaper to purchase a new camera and then sell the lens.
