Is it still $250 pp to book on board depending on the category. I suppose its still the non refundable $500 pp if you book concierge.

I have not sailed in 2 years and did not know if it had changed. I am on the Dream Feb 27th need to have the $$ to book the next one.

They are currently offering 50% of the normal deposit when you rebook on board, so a normal night cruise (non-concierge) is $125 per person. Shorter cruises are $100 per person. There are some specialty cruises that have a higher deposit, but you still pay 50% of whatever that higher deposit is.

the deposit fees recently changed. It is now 20% of your cruise total, BEFORE taxes and fees are added. This means that your onboard booking will be 10% of the cruise total, instead of a fixed dollar amount.

I can confirm the 10% of cruise cost before taxes and fees. We just recently booked a 4 night on the Dream for next Oct recently while on the Magic. Our deposit for 3 was only $147. Glad we skipped an excursion in Cozumel so we could put the deposit down on our next DCL trip.

Can someone tell me if the reduced deposit is a special thing or is it permanent? I'm sailing on the Wonder MR cruise 3/27/11 and want to book a new cruise on board. That would be great if it was only 10%?

You guys are right; I forgot about the change in the deposit....it actually came out to less than the old system when I booked on board last time!

The reduced deposit has been in effect for several years now. DCL could obviously change it at any time (the same way they changed from a dollar amount per person deposit to a percentage of the cruise fare as the amount.) There is no word that they intend to change it, but they could. On the other hand, at least part of the purpose of the deposit is to assure that people actually intend to sail, not just to book. I doubt that they have a serious issue of people who have booked on board needing to cancel. Of course, stuff happens...but even then, a re-booking on board is more likely to be moved to another date than to be outright canceled.
