Please help! I have read that you can only get pillowcases signed by the characters that are Disney related. My question is that there is some "disney cruise line fabric" for sale on ebay(a nautical print, but I see no Disney characters) and I was wondering about making pillowcases from this for my ds8 and ds9. (I needed something not too cutesy).
Has anyone seen this fabric? Do you think that would be okay? I need to know soon because we sail in less than four weeks! Thanks!!

I haven't seen the fabric but I have never heard that you have to use a pillowcase with Disney characters on them. I took a picture of my girls in their Minney costumes and had the pix placed on their pillowcases but I don't think it's a requirement. Hopefully someone knows for sure.

I was told at Guest Service on the Magic that if you want to have a t-shirt left at G.S. and signed by the characters that it must have something Disney on it. I do not know if that holds true for pillow cases. We had a basically white shirt that we bought at the Disney Store and it had a very tiny Disney character graphic on it. They said that was OK.

This was in February and maybe things have changed.

I have found fabric with Disney characters on it at Jo-Ann Fabrics. They currently have one with Tinkerbell on it that is so adorable.
That's such a great idea to make your own pillowcases to get signed. I might do the same for my grandchildren! They would make great souvenirs!

We had plain white Tshirts done last Aug.No one mentioned anything about it being disney or not but a lot can change in a year.

Thanks for the quick replies! I wasn't clear in my original post, I know you could use plain white pillowcases, I just meant it had to be a Disney item as opposed to another brand, (like I saw a pillowcase listed as Disney on Ebay that had Tweety! Some people;) ). I guess I better decide something soon, three and a half weeks to go!!

I bought Disney pillowcases at Kmart. 3.50 each. One was plain light purple and the other plain medium blue. They had a embroidered Winnie the Pooh trim, that was it. They love their pillowcases, all the characters signed them, it was great!

Have fun!

Do you have to go through each character line to get the pillowcase sighned, or do you leave it with guest services?

If you leave the pillowcase at guest services (from what I've read here, in a ziploc with a sharpie) they will have lots of characters sign it and return it to your stateroom!

Make sure you put each childs item in it's own ziplock bag with their name and stateroom number on it. Then just leave it at GS. They will do the rest. Mickey signs first and writes to his pal -----. So make sure their name is there. We sent a sharpie but it was never opened, they use their own.

Hope this helps.

From what I have read here this is the only opportunity for signatures. The characters on board do not sign autographs individually as in the parks.

Is that a truestatement?

Thanks

Bob That is a tricky question. On our first cruise they announce that characterw would e doing pictures only NO autographs. There was a special autograph session where there were no Pictures. However People took books and the characters signed them at both sessions. I think that the 2nd time we went They were signing autographs at all times. However it is much easier to go through guest services if you want all the signatures.

Thanks for clearing that one up. I just did not want to get the girls excited about autographs in case it was a definte no. We will be prepaired with our washable markers as always like going to the parks.

The characters will not sign shirts or pillowcases in the lines but they will sign autogragh books unless posted photographs only. My DD liked getting her book signed by the characters herself. I dropped a DCL t shirt off at GS and they had it signed and ready to pick up the next afternoon. It made a great souvenier.

We did the 3 night Wonder cruise on Aug 29. I left a pillow case at gs and got all the autographs. We did the iron on transfer with the cruise, date and our names. I have to tell you that on the navigator it did say no autographs during certain photo sessions. A LOT of people ignored this and it was frustrating imho. Some characters did not sign, some did after getting barraged by kids and adults! If you take a look at my pictures at my www below, you can see the pillow case better.

I'm having a "blonde" moment but can't we leave just plain white pillowcase bought at Wal-mart (an off brand) to be signed?

A plain anything should be fine. They just won't let Mickey sign a SpongeBob pillowcase, t shirt, etc.

If you leave a pillowcase and they sign it do they do a good job of keeping the marker from bleeding through to the other side of the pillowcase or is this not a problem?

Hi,

This is the first that I've heard that you can have the characters sign a pillowcase. What an awesome idea. Can it be a home made t-shirt or pillow cover? I've got an embroidery machine that can embroider Disney Designs, so I thought I would make just some small pillow cases already embroidered and get them to sign it. Think this will be okay?

P.S Any recomendations as to what kind of pen to use?

We used fabric markers and they didn't bleed through. Worked great!

ebaynut31,
Did you make your own iron -on transfer using your computer? of did you have it made elsewhere? If you used your computer do you need special ink? Loved your pillowcases, thanks for sharing your great idea.

You don't need a special ink to do the iron ons. You buy the blank iron ons at most any computer store or office supply store. They are easy to do.

Marty Jay - Where did you find the Disney embroidery designs? I have a Janome embroidery machine and haven't been able to find any. Thanks: :D

T, just did it on the computer at home. nothing special. regular pillow case, regular printer ink, and regular transfer paper from staples or somewhere. I used a fat sharpie black marker and put it in the ziplock bag with the pillowcase. They ended up keeping the marker though! Oh well. Make sure you put your name and room number somewhere on the bag.

I have a Brother machine and bought some of the Disney Cards for the machine. As far as I know the Brother Machines are the only machines liscenced for the Disney Embroidery.
