Last years DISConers...lets reminice!! WHat was your fave memory???

FOr me it was definitely Illuminations. There was a moment where I started to cry and a friend came over and put their hand on my shoulder. Less than three minutes later, we had a long line of us linked together swaying to the music and singing.

It was also the night we had the awesome dessert party on the Island as we watched Illuminations. What a night....Can't wait to do it again!!!!

That was a wonderful everning, Glo. I loved our dinner in the different EPCOT restaurants before that. I went to France and it was wonderful. :)
My favorite daytime memory was the day we did the Fantasyland meet, followed by Buzz Lightyear, followed by the Aladdin ride, followed by our Dolewhip meet. That was a really neat morning. :D :teeth:
AND, of course, my all time FAVORITE memory was......................the SCAVENGER HUNT . ROTFL :p :p :p :p

Illuminations was a great time. But the one that I think I will remember most, and the one that will be hard, IMHO, to recreate, will be the first night at Jellyrolls. So many DISers had such a wonderful time. So many great songs to sing to, with many people that I had just met.

There were many highlights, one of my favorite days was our thrill tours day. Here is our group, Glo, Tommy, Marsha, CC, Meg, Bris and Kate. Marla and The Lion King were with us for a part of the day also. We were able to spend an entire day together getting to know each other and enjoying our favorite rides :)

Brian, I agree.....that night was just unique and wonderful...just wonderful.
Glo, I think Illuminations was terrific....it's probably what most DC'ers will never forget (and will tell whoever they are with about everytime they walk past that "island"!;) )

I'm going to add another.....DATW !! No, it's not 'cuz of the drinking.....It was just a beautiful night for a walk around World Showcase with an awesome bunch of people!
All of us there got to know each other a little bit more that night.
(thank goodness SSB is so tall....we could always find "the group" that way!;) )
All of the events both official and unofficial were magical.

My favorite was the first night - when some of us went to hear the British Invasion at Epcot after the reception ended. Then we ate at the Patisserie in France, followed by Illuminations, and then Jellyrolls!

I propose that we have an unofficial first-night Jellyrolls get-together after the reception!

For me, the very first day of DIScon was a memory that I will forever cherish. My wife finally relented and let me head to Florida on my own. I was as excited as a child as I drove to WDW. I couldn't wait to register and head over to Norway for the DIScon Solo Traveller DISmeet. And I will NEVER forget our group's ride on the Maelstrom. Who would have ever believe that so many adults would fit in one boat!!!

That very first day was a wonderful beginning to one of the happiest times that I have ever had.

Brian, I will agree-I don't think we'll ever be able to recreate that first night at Jellyrolls. It really was an incredible evening! I think that night did a lot to bring us all much closer together, too. :teeth: We were all so comfortable singing our hearts out together, weren't we??? :p

The illuminations dessert was just so magical for me. But the opening reception was special for me too. I remember when John walked into the room ringing his bell "Hear Ye, Hear Ye". I got all teary eyed it was just so perfect.

And when Pete gave his little talk and we all gave JayPD a standing ovation for being a DIS hero on 9/11. I will never forget it.

I will never forget how we all just seemed to "know" each other already, even if we had never met.

4. The look on Tia and Livia's faces after they conquered Splash for the first time.

6. The first time I heard Frank giggle uncontrollably at MVMCP (of course he'll deny that).
7. Meeting everyone for the first time and feeling like I was home.

There are so many but what really stands out in my mine was driving Barry crazy with the scavenger hunt and Ray's big dogs. Everytime we drive to Portland and go past the outlet I think of Ray.

Oh yea and Carol doing the Rocky Mount, TN song with her "team buddies"

So many people from so many walks of life coming together for the love of a mouse and the joy that gathering brought to so many people all for the want of a little internet board that grew and grew and is still growing.

And lets not forget the adventurer's club where we all learned we were "internet freaks" thanks to Sandra. I think we scared that CM half to death when we all spoke up after that. She had no clue who had invaded her little library that night.

OK, you guys. As a first time DISCON attendee, I have to ask--
What are Ray's "Big Dogs?"? Is this something I need to prepare myself for? (Can the answer to this be posted on this board without offending anyone?) I have no clue! :confused:

Have you ever heard of the Big Dog trademark. They make clothing with st bernards and sayings about the big dog is in the lead, etc. They make both outer clothing and inner clothing if you get my meaning.

It was all in clean fun and we laughed and laughed until we cried.
People were walking by us in EPCOT just looking at these "weird" people just laughing and crying and hugging each other and we didn't care.

It was moments like this that made DISCON so much fun.
