Yes you can - if it's an EOS system, it's an autofocus lens that is still compatible with any Canon digital SLR.
Do note though that any digital Rebel or entry- to mid-level Canon DSLR you get will have what's known as a 'crop factor' - which means that whatever lens you attach to the camera will have the focal range multiplied by 1.6 times. The lens is perfectly usable, but a 70mm lens will give you the equivalent focal range of 112mm (70x1.6). So your 70-200 lens will behave like a 112mm to 480mm lens. This is lots of fun for the telephoto end, but you lose as much wide end...just keep that in mind!

yes, but your best choice may be to get the camera and the 18-55IS kit lens. Lens made specifically for crop models are sharper and very inexpensive if bought with the camera

If that is the only lens you have, I would not even worry about it and consider all of your options from all brands.

Is it the 70-300, or the 75-300? I ask because the 75-300 was commonly sold in kits with the Rebel along with a standard zoom. That's how I acquired my own 75-300 elephant years ago (I've got a Rebel G).
Anyway, there is a noticeable image quality difference between the 75-300 and the 70-300. And the 75-300 goes for under $200 new, so it's not like a huge investment in lenses there. Where as the 70-300 goes for more and would give me more of an incentive to look at Canons if I were in your shoes and DSLR shopping.
Did that make sense?

How do I download my Camera's CdROM software (for connecting my camera to my computer) if it reads "insufficient screen resolution"? I have a Macbook that I got about a year ago.
