Hello there! We have taken our dSLR Canon Rebel XSi with us on the past several trips, but have found it to be just a little too big for the airplane, carrying around the parks, etc. We are looking to get a new camera, of the point and shoot family, and looking for some recommendations. We are basically open to any brand, but was looking at Nikon or Canon.
For the Nikon, I was looking at the S80 or the S8100. We want something that will allow us to take pictures pretty quickly, without too much lag (realizing it is not a dSLR). Any suggestions?

I just picked up a Nikon S8000 point & shoot to carry around in my purse. Love the 14.2 Megapixels & the 10x zoom. It also has a macro setting.
My family won't let me take the big camera anymore. LOL I save that for photo meet ups with other photographer friends.

Thanks. I was actually looking at the Nikon S8100, which is very similar. Have you been happy with it overall?

I love the zoom lens - it's the best I've seen in a point & shoot. The camera is a little bigger than my previous point & shoot, I had to buy a larger carry case, but it still fits nicely on a belt, in a backpack or a purse.
The picture quality is wonderful. All of my pictures go through Photoshop for resizing & sharpening. Sometimes I can't tell which pictures were shot with the big camera (Fuji S3 pro) and which were done with the S8000.
