Scottie:
Will these be playing on our 9/22 cruise?
Also, what is "spirited away"?

Sonya-
I believe so, I asked them what would be playing on our cruise and that was the reply I received
From what I have gathered on the net...
Japan Release: July 20th, 2001 (where it has set a 25-day box office record for a Japanese film, with US $83 million, breaking the 1997 record set by Miyazaki's own Princess Mononoke)

The story line for spirited away loooks interesting but the characters look remarkably like the characters in the Digimon and Pokemon movies. Not the "pokemon" characters but the style of animation is what I am referring to. Has anyone seen or heard of this movie? It sounds cute.

Sonya-
I heard little bits about it but did not see anything till I found the site with the preview. From what I have watched in the past I think the characters tend to look the same in the animations from Japan (I think this one was created in Japan?) And with the amount of money it pulled in for the first 25 days in Japan I would guess it is a good storyline and I will be watching it in the Buena Vista theater!

I have not seen Spirited Away but have seen the three other movies by the same guy & they are all very very good. Two of his other movies were children's films, very very sweet & positive stories about getting through tough times with family and friends and learning to be your own person. Princess Mononoke was more suited for an older audience but still excellent. I am not a big Japanese animation fan, I liked these because they told a story that seemed very real in terms of the characters. The kids in his movies act like KIDS, not Hollywood versions of miniature wiseacres. It won't be like Pokemon, expect something a little more serious and real, even if there are a lot of fantasy elements in it. I am very excited to hear that I may get to see this movie on our 9/29 Wonder trip! :)

"<i>The Santa Clause 2</i>" is scheduled to open in the U.S. on November 1, so I would imagine it will be Prem-Earing on the the 11/2 Magic and 11/3 Wonder.
