HI all....while I'm not new to the Dis....I am new to the photography forum. I just bought this camera because I wanted something with a good zoom. Does anyone have any info or experience with this camera. I got a really good deal on it so I'm hoping that it's a good camera.
thanks :worship:

I've got experience with one of it's predecessors, the Fuji s1000. I got it for my daughter when it first came out and have been very impressed with it. It's a slick little point and shoot.

This one is styled more along the lines of a DSLR

Yes, I know what camera you are talking about. The S1000 (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/FujiFilm/fuji_finepixs1000fd.asp) was the first in that line of point and shoot cameras. The S1000 out of production now, replaced by the S1500.

Sorry, when I think 'point & shoot' I think of tiny and compact.
I'm a little nervous about this camera because I have no experience with Fuji and don't know anyone that has one of their products. I cashed in a ton of reward points to get this camera and don't want to feel that I wasted my points. Plus, it's so much larger than my old camera I am wondering if it will become a pain to carry around.

My daughter (she's ten and I got this for her 8th birthday) takes it everywhere. You can stash it in a large purse pretty easily.
The biggest advice I can offer is to learn a little about how an exposure is made and take advantage of the manual modes it has. It has great low light capabilities for a point and shoot in the manual modes, but in my experience the auto modes leave something to be desired. But then that's true with most cameras.
