When did wolfgang puck cafe become a signature restaurant? I'm so disappointed. We were going to eat here, but now I don't want to use 2 credits for it. That was why we were thing Grand Floridian Cafe, but that gets pretty mixed reviews. oh, what to do, what to do.....:confused3

Not a lot of choices since I am changing 2 dinners to accommodate 2 more of us.

I don't know what you are looking at, but this is likely a confusion of the two types of restaurants in the same building with Wolfgang Puck's name on them.

First, "signature" does not mean "2 credit dining plan restaurant" - it's the other way around. "Signature" in Disney speak means "upscale," not "2 credits on the dining plan." There are signature restaurants that are on the dining plan and cost 2 credits, and there are also signature restaurants that are not on the dining plan at all.

As far as Wolfgang Puck goes - there are two Wolfgang Puck restaurants in the same building. The one on the first floor is Wolfgang Puck Cafe. It's not a "signature" restaurant and IS on the dining plan, costing one TS credit per person.

On the second floor is Wolfgang Puck's Upstairs Dining Room. This is a separate restaurant from the downstairs Cafe and is considered a signature restaurant. They don't accept the dining plan at all.

I'm guessing you saw a reference to the Upstairs Dining Room on the official WDW website, which would say "signature." The website does not do a good job of distinguishing between the Cafe and the Upstairs Dining Room because they have one page that covers both restaurants, although they are separate restaurants. Just one of the many problems with the WDW website.

The website could certainly be clearer, but the real fault lies with the restaurant for not giving the upstairs dining room a different name altogether. "Wolfgang Puck Cafe" and "Wolfgang Puck Cafe-The Dining Room" (as they are officially known) are way too similar. How about "Spago DTD" or "Spago Downtown" for the upstairs?

oh, I did use the wdw site and saw this when scrolling over the name of the restaurant. I then looked at Brown Derby and saw that was signature and mistakenly thought that must mean 2 TS credits. thanks for the clarification!

Brown Derby is 2 TS; Wolfgang Puck Cafe is only 1, however.

Well, you would have to take that up with the company; but it appears a significant enough difference in the names to indicate that it's two separate restauarants.

I'm sure when they constructed and named the restaurants they were not thinking about the dining plan. I think both places are currently run by Levy restaurants; Wolfgang doesn't operate them himself.

What about Wolfgang Puck Express - is it being removed from the CS credit list in 2011? That's a real bummer, as there doesn't look to be a CS credit available in DTD other than FoodQuest. We were planning on BBB there for my DD's, but we may need to rethink that one (or pay OOP for lunch)....

It's probable it's just not on the 2011 DDP list yet. We are still waiting for the final one that includes all the restaurants not operated by Disney. (Food Quest is the only CS at DTD operated by Disney...that's why it's the only one you see)

If the restaurant has been participating in the plan, it's most likely you will see it back again when everything has been finalized.
