I have the opportunity to fly 2 x 20 hours (40 hours total) to spend 1 day at the Disneyland Resort....

I am planning to go to see World of Colour. One cold night only in January 2011.

For all those West Coast Dis-ers, can you please share your photos of World of Colour and tips on where/how to get the best shots?

I will have a 18 - 55 f/2.8 lens with me and a nifty fifty f/1.8.

Thanks in advance.

p.s. I might remember to take my tripod into the park this time round.

Here's a couple of shots that I took in June.

Everything was handheld - I have some recollection that they weren't allowing tripods for the show and it would have been a nightmare anyway. Since everyone is standing these shots were all taken holding the camera above my head. I set the camera to ISO 3200 and used the widest, fastest lens I had along which was a 16mm f/2.8 fisheye. A full frame lens used on an APS-C sensor body so it wasn't very fishy and worked out great. I'd definitely recommend your widest lens for the show. I shot in aperture priority mode at 2.8 and let it go with the fastest shutter speed it could. With the waterscreens I think you can get too much blurring if your shutter speed is slow. Some of the fountain parts would be very cool with a longer shutter speed but since I was shooting handheld I couldn't try that.

I was in the center most section (blue at that time and I think it still is) and just back from the lowest area which is the "you will get wet" section. As it was I still got soaked from an errant water cannon shot! Drenched actually! There is a LOT of water going up in the fountains. :rotfl:

Enjoy - it's a beautiful show!

Thank You. Great shots!

Looks like I'll have to remember NOT to bring my tripod.
