View Full Version : Reassurance needed: Just 1 night at Days Inn Maingate East in Kissimmee

Okay. I need some reassurance.
DH and I will be driving and arriving pretty late (7:00/8:00 p.m.) on a Saturday night. We'll be staying at the Villas of Wilderness Lodge for 5 nights starting on Sunday - renting points.
I got the DI Maingate East for only $33.69 total (with tax) for that one night by bidding $25.
We just need a place to sleep, but I read on another post how HORRIBLE the place is, how musty it smells, how the AC units don't work well, how uncomfortable the beds are, etc. Now, admittedly, this was on a post that was trying to convince someone to stay onsite instead of in Kissimmee, but it got me worried.
Has anyone stayed there? Will it be okay for just one night?
I was unfortunate enough to stay there for a week. I wouldn't stay there again $25 a night. There are always deals listed for hojo and other properties at the dis, I'm sure you could find something better for under $50.
My reasons would be everything you've already read.

sorry to send really bad news......We did it for just one night and it was a living hell.....
...Room was smelly and gross
...Feet stuck to the carpet...
...Someone tried to get into our room at 12:30am (scared us to death)
....My son woke up the next morning covered with bug bites...like 20 or 30
I wrote all kinds of letters and they finally refunded my $40...
It is really gross....I'd right off the $33 dollars and book a room on your own...there really are some cheap deals out there at decent hotels......
We said we would never stay off site again....we'll we are planning on it in March for 2 nights and I'm going in Oct to check the 2 places out in advance that I have ressies at....
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news....

Thank you (I think) for your feedback.:(
I think I will just "cut my losses" on the $33 room and find something else for that one night.
I do appreciate your honesty!

Sorry to hear that.
If you are still looking for a clean cheap room...Try the Magic Castle Inn and Suites.

We stayed there after being told that the Days Inn was bad and it was clean and nice. I have pictures if you want them. I hope that you find a place.
On the other hand, I had a friend who stayed at Days Inn and liked it. I think that if you go and hate it...You could make a point with the management to move you to a better room. You could call them and say what you have heard here and ask to be put into a NEWLY reenovated room or at least the most recently renovated one. If it is in slow season then you could just move to the Magic Castle or HoJo then.
If you call and tell them that a clean room with everything working is the only thing that you will accept...They will realize that you mean business and probably will look to put you in the best room they have.
I would also tell them about this site4 and that they get horrible reviews. Ask them if it is justified.
Another thing you can do is call the National office for Days Inn and ask to know if there have been any complaints for that property. Then say that you want them to reassure you that if it is substandard that you will expect them to make things right.
I would go see if it is not during hi-season and then make up your mind. If it is during hi-season, I would book another room.

Also, did you read the post about the Amerisuites report. A brand new hotel and the ent. card rate is about $40.

I got Comfort Inn-Lake Buena Vista for $32 AAA or special online rate with them. I have stayed there before and it's nice and clean. It's only 5 mins from downtown disney and in a good area next to shopping and restaurants. Sorry to say, I would never stay at a Days Inn in kissimmee, some of the other hotels there are a bit scarey as well

If you can get something anywhere else, DO IT! Even one night there is WAY too much!
