:wave2: Hi there! We just booked this cruise while we were on the Wonder on Dec 2nd. :yay: I LOVE Disney cruises and so do the kids! This will be our third with Disney. Looking forward to the bigger ship! I'll have to check them out more now that we're actually booked. Our dinner at Palo on the Wonder was awesome. I can't wait to find out more about Remy. It sounds delightful!

Here's my family and ages as of May 2012...
Kyrie 39
Marc 41
Jacob 7
Max 5
Ella 3
(TBA) 1

We're getting two cabins across the hall from each other. We had to have at least one verandah!

The kids love the clubs and Ella will be so happy she can go next time. I can't even imagine when the day comes that we don't have a little one too young for the clubs and we get more alone time. I love spending time with the kids, but am NOT disappointed when they are so happy at the club that they would rather be there for a few hours. Guilt free alone time! :woohoo:

Yeah!! Glad to meet you Kyrie! I'm sure you'll be a wealth of info. This is only our 2nd cruise ever. Wish my boys could have enjoyed all of these kids clubs. We're hoping to book Palo for the first time. Plus I have to get more info on the formal night and the Captain's Gala. Welcome!:cool1:

Nice to meet you too. I'm certainly no expert yet, but when you do have questions feel free to ask. I look forward to reading about people's experience on the Dream soon. I love to research and plan our vacations--it's half the fun!

I noticed you're DVC owners also. Have you visited HHI before or is your upcoming trip your first? How often do you get to WDW?

We own at BWV and BLT. We've stayed at BWV, BLT, AKV, BCV, and VWL. I'd like to visit Aulani in Jan or Feb of 2012. Someday I'd like a Hawaiian timeshare, but not sure it will be DVC. We definately like visiting more than one island and I'm not sure I want to spend that much time on Oahu. We'll see.

Nice to meet another DVC'r!:goodvibes This May will be our first trip to Disney's HHI. We are really excited! We own at BWV, BLT and BCV but have yet to get to BLT or BCV! The Fantasy cruise is cutting into some of that DVC time...:rotfl:We go to WDW between one and two times per year. In 2011, only BWV (F&W) in October, HHI in May. 2012, well it's the Fanatasy cruise then probably a BCV trip in Oct/Nov. Just don't have enough vacation time!

I am looking into some excursions not offered through Disney. They look pretty reputable, lots of positive posts about them on the cruiseline forum. http://www.grandcaymancruiseexcursions.com/
Do you have any experience with other excursion companies?

So excited to find this Meet Thread! This will be our first DCL cruise, although my DH and I have been on 7 or 8 cruises on various other lines. This time we'll be bringing our DD. Our ages at the time of sailing:

Me (Jessica) -- 37
DH (Charles) -- 45
DD (Jocelyn) -- 2 1/2

We are coming all the way from sunny CA, so I'm hoping to make a stop at WDW either before or after the cruise (maybe both, who knows?).

Any advice you have in regards to the Nursery will be greatly appreciated. Can't wait to start all the planning!!

Hey everyone
My fiancé and I just booked this cruise while we were on the wonder dec 30. Can't wait to get back out on that water. We saw the dream while we docked at port before the wonder was off thru the panama canal. Looks a lot bigger then wonder and magic. But beautiful.

Hi everyone, count us in as well. This will mine and DW second cruise (first without the kiddos).

It will just be the 2 of us (Alex & Amy) as we will celebrate 20 years of happy marriage while on board.

We loved our first cruise, but at 3 nights it went too fast. Looking forward to the longer cruise on the new ship.

Hello all. My wife (Andrea) and I (Joe) will be joining you on this cruise. This will be our 7th Disney Cruise. We just got off the maiden voyage of the Disney Dream. Heading to Alaska in August on the Wonder.

We were able to book an inside stateroom for this cruise to experience the virtual port hole. Looking forward to this cruise as 4 days on the Dream was no where near enough time to truely explore the new ship!

Hoping to be able to get in to Remy on this cruise!

Talk to you all soon!

Glad to have a true veteran on-board. I hope you don't mind a few questions from time to time. :confused3

My DW and I want to try Remy as well. Have you enjoyed Palo?

Hey Alex,
We are all in for a treat getting to spend 7 days on the Fantasy. My wife and I have enjoyed Palo for both Dinner and the Brunch. Both are excellent and worth the upcharge (I think it is $20 PP).

We were not able to get in to Palo or Remy on the Dream Maiden Voyage. There were a TON of Platinum cruisers, so many that Disney actually was giving them ship credits, because they could not get reservations.

We were happy to enjoy the normal rotation on the Dream since they were all new experiences. But for this cruise I am definitely hoping to get in to Remy, and maybe a Palo brunch.

Remy is one seating per night, so basically you have the table for the entire evening and folks were saying it took 3 - 4 hours to dine... Folks said they just keep bringing food...

Palo (my experience is from the Disney Magic) is not one seating per evening but the Italian food is amazing. I like to ask for tasting portions of several things which they are happy to do. The first time we had dinner in Palo, the waiter would bring extra things we did not even ask for since the "chef was proud of these items and wanted us to enjoy" More recently this was not the case, maybe because I did ask for samples of a few things... The Brunch has things like made to order individual pizza's (also there for dinner), a full menu to order from (both breakfast items and lunch items), as well as a buffet type spread with King crab legs and even caviar. There is also a very nice desert buffet area with tasting sized deserts so you can try several.

Happy to try to answer any and all questions I can and I am sure there will be many more cruisers with more experience than I....

Joe

Our friends and my wife and myself usually cruise in September or October, but thought that we would give the month of May a shot. Looking forward to meeting everyone and hope that a good time is had by all. We also leave the kids and grand kids at home as this is our time to relax and recharge our batteries so to speak.

We have a cruise aboard the RCCL Freedom of the Seas sailing out of Port Canaveral on the 27th of March 2011. This will gives us a peek at the Disney Dreams in the berth next to us.

I just put down my deposit for the May 12th sailing of the Fantasy and am so excited to be joining all of you!

This is the first cruise ever for me (Amanda, 31) and my partner (Carrie, 32).

I've been to WDW too many times to count and C has gone with me a few times (which she would say is a few times too many). She is not the biggest fan of Disney, although I have some WDW vacation photos that prove she at least had kind of a good time.

Anyway... because of the lack of Disney-love from my partner, I had to promise that we wouldn't go to WDW again for a few years. But then it occurred to me... she never said that we couldn't go on a Disney cruise!

So after a little bit of serious campaigning, here we are.

I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you in the months leading up to our trip. Yee-Haw!

I am sorry to hear that your partner is not a Disney Fan. My DH loves Disney and looks forward WDW every year for our anniversary I am actually surprised he agreed to a Cruise instead of usual WDW trip to be honest. He loves the characters and the rides. He wears character shirts a lot. Maybe you can turn her over to the Disney side. :rotfl:

While I am a Disney fan I would also say that the Disney cruise is not over the top dis... You can easily get away from the characters etc, especially if you stay in the adult only areas. The Fantasy (and Dream) cruise liner is a classic design with Disney touches. Areas like the spa and the adult dinning are really elegant with subtle dis touches. Some of the main dining areas, especially animators palate scream Disney and you are immersed in it for the entire meal, but even if you are not the biggest Disney fan you just gotta be impressed and ask "how did they do this". And the expressions on all the kids faces during the dinner "show" at Animators just makes me smile... The Enchanted Garden does not have any Disney characters but is a cool place to eat, again does not scream Disney. The Royal Palace (at least that is the name on the Dream) is elegant and again does have Disney touches but you have to look for them (ie glass slippers on the chandelier)

So, Amanda... Carrie should have a GREAT time! My wife and I (just a couple years older, no kiddies) both agree that we would take a Disney Cruise over any of the Cruise lines we have tried.. This will be our 7th Dis cruise.

If you are looking for an adult only couple to go through the rotation dinning with maybe we can hook that up and get a table for 4.

Thanks Joe, for the reassurance.

The funny thing is that both of us always thought that we'd never have any interest in going on a cruise... especially a Caribbean cruise. It just seemed a little too touristy somehow. So the fact that I was pushing for a DCL cruise made it even harder for C to jump on the wagon.

I'm sure we're both gonna have a blast and I think part of what finally convinced C to go was the fact that there were a lot of adult-only options and places to get away. I've made promises of massages and snorkeling and yoga on the beach. And the food on the ship was definitely a major selling point.

Now that I've reread my previous post, I should probably clarify that C is a very accommodating person, and despite the fact that she is not a huge Disney fan, I'm very lucky that she's always supported my own love of the parks. She is just one of those silly people that would rather go to France than the French Pavilion at Epcot. (I mean c'mon... isn't it pretty much the same thing!?!?!)

Joe, we would definitely consider dining with you guys, if possible. You're the veteran cruiser, so you'll have to let me know how we make that happen. Thanks.

Oh Amanda and Carrie, you gals sound to cute. My fiance (mike 26) and me (rachel 26) have gone on 2 cruises. It is kinda funny. We went to Disney back in 2008 for the first time and we both got hook to Disney again. We love the parks. Just too much fun. It was last year I decided to try something new and we cruised on the Wonder in April. Mike told me it was our last trip for a while. But I got greedy and took it upon myself to get him on another cruise. I won later that year when I got him on the New Years sail. What can I say...

I think you both will enjoy it. It isn't so "Disney". You'll have a great time. Plus your with Disers so we are an added bonus anyway. :goodvibes

Hi! My name is Jenn and I just put down our deposit today with SWV for this cruise. My dh (Steve) and I have only cruised once and that was years ago on our honeymoon. We will be cruising with our kids - Rachel who will be 10 almost 11 on the trip, and Ethan who will be 8. We are so excited! We haven't told the kids yet as it is way too long to hear, "how long until we cruise?"!!!! It would be great to hook them up with some other kids their age to help them have more fun in the clubs.

:banana:Hello to all !!! My name is Kristen and this will be our 2nd Disney cruise:thumbsup2. We had such a great time on our last cruise we are bringing along some more family and friends this time around! So in our cabin you have Me Kristen, DH Mike, DD10 Courtney, DD7 Hailey, & DS4 Landon. In the adjoining cabin you have my dad Mike, My stepmom Patty, brother 11 Caleb, & and my sister 8 Emmy. In the cabin down the hall you have my good friend Karen, her mother and her daughter. I love all things Disney and drive my family nuts with my over compulsive planning:surfweb:! Last year we went to Disney World for 14 days and spent the whole year planning, making and over packing for the trip but at the end we all had a blast!!!!! On our last cruise I started the roll call and kept the first post up to date with all the info about our cruise. I also organized the FE exchange……. So if all don’t mind I thought that I would get that started here! I will post right after this and ask the moderators to move it to the 1st post so that you don’t have to hunt to find the info! I look forward to getting to know you all and planning over the next year!:grouphug:

DisneyMommy1022/Kristen - I sent you a PM about the FE.:cool1: Hope you got it! We'll be in room 8186.

I can't believe we still have over a year before this cruise - I hear about it on a daily basis from my DD who will be 11 next month :goodvibes She is really looking forward to the excursions, meeting other kids and hanging out at Edge but the main thing she talks about is what gifts we should give for the Fish Extender. We were at Michaels on Saturday picking up some supplies for Girl Scouts and she was trying to pick out stuff for next year's FE rather than for that afternoon's scout meeting. :goodvibes I hope that there is a lot of interest in the FE on our cruise - sounds like lots of fun from what I've read.

We haven't told the kids yet as it is way too long to hear, "how long until we cruise?"!!!! It would be great to hook them up with some other kids their age to help them have more fun in the clubs.
Does anyone have any ideas from prior DCL experiences about connecting kids with other dis kids before or early into the cruise so that they know some other kids at the clubs?
