.....starting another PTR....but this one is very different from my last two. I am going.......ALONE!!:scared1: No hubby & no kids.....doesn't seem right, considering I spend 24/7 at home with them. We've always looked forward to these family trips.....so why am I going with out them?? I'm finally going to go to the Dis Diva's Girl's Only Trip. This is their 4th year & I've been following the thread since right before their 2nd trip in 09.

I actually got to meet a few of them in person during their 2nd trip......my hubby took the pictures of their group shot with their Dole Whips for Bawb & I got to be included. We were there for our 25th Anniversary trip & had coordinated to meet up with them. Here's a picture from that morning:

Our time together was short, but it definitely got me fired up to want to join them next time. Well next time came earlier this year & I didn't get to go.....
:sad2: So I was determined to not let yet another year go by with out me joining them......I dug my heels in & got involved....so I HAVE to go!! So here's the plan:

That will be the strangest part of the whole trip........I'll probably feel a bit lost with out them.....but it will also be very relaxing. A good way to recharge my engine!!

This trip is going to be so different.....we always drive, partly because we could never afford flying for our large family & I'm deathly afraid of flying.........this upcoming trip, since I no way want to drive 17 hours by myself & I don't want to drive in the LA area.....I'll have to fly!! http://www.pic4ever.com/images/be9.gif I'm already freaking out about it!! I have flown twice on commercial planes & have never had anything to do with buying the tickets & being in charge of the check-in......so I'm totally lost at what I need to do. I haven't purchased my tickets yet.....procrastinating.....still hoping to win the lottery so I can pay a limo driver to drive me to DL !!

I'm looking at Southwest......partly because they don't charge for luggage......I mean hello......traveler's needing a suitcase or two.......say it ain't so! I can't believe the airlines charge for you to take a change of clothes!! Crazy!! Right now it looks like $134 each way is my cheapest price....but I have to purchase from the website & they're non-returnable or changeable. So when I buy them, I better be 1000% sure, that I actually will get on the plane!!

Tomorrow I'll get into the motel choice(s)!!

When my husband and I flew to Disneyland in the spring I actually put bruises on his arm. I worried a lot about flying by myself home from DL a couple of weeks ago. (I also worried about the poor stranger(s) next to me! How would they react to some strange/scared woman randomly bruising their arm with each bumpity bump of the plane?) Anyway, eventually I figured out that if I closed my eyes and actually pretended I was on a roller coaster-type ride at DL, the turbulence didn't bother me. Sounds silly, I know. I had to keep my eyes closed in order for it to "work" -- but I was so calm after finding something that worked for me. After all was said and done, I realized I spent far too much time being all worked up before my solo flight. I hope you can find a way not to worry too much about it. :)

The next part in my planning is deciding where to stay. We stayed at the HoJo this summer & absolutely loved it!!

The plan was to stay there, as in the past, a number of the Diva's have stayed there. They also have been able to use the conference room to hold their Meet-n-Greet party on the first night. When the committee called to reserve the room, it was already taken!! So after searching for a new location for the party......we found the Carousel Inn. They offered their room (with a view of DL) for a great price & also offered a special on room rates for our group. So it looks like a lot of us will be changing motels to thank them for all their help & the wonderful conference room for our party!!

I'm actually excited to try another motel & the Carousel is even closer to the Pedestrian Crossing on Harbor & they offer a free breakfast!!!

I'm really looking forward to rooming with one of the Divas I actually got to spend the day with during our family trip this summer!!! Zoemakes5, aka Michelle and her daughter Zoe spent the entire day with our family & we had a blast!!! It will be great already knowing someone (in person) when I arrive in Anaheim!!

I know.....they do look nice!! They're located between the Tropicana & the Camelot......so not too far from the crosswalk!! I've stayed at the Trop before & loved the short walk to & from the parks.

It's my dads fault for making me hate flying....he had his pilots license for small planes & decided to fly us to my brother's ordination from seminary school in Claremont. Problem was, we hit a storm on the way home & it took us a number of attempts to clear the mountains back into Oregon. My younger brother has scars in his legs from my fingernails that were dug deeply into his thighs!!! When we landed I literally laid on the tarmac & kissed the pavement....thanking God that I hadn't died that day. Having a really hard time getting past that experience.

Plus I'm all worked up with what I need to do after I buy my tickets. Everything is done so differently & I hate the unknown!!

I'm in charge of the "Snack Bar". This will be a table full of all sorts of different snacks that people can take & fill up their bags with. In the past they've done a "Candy Bar"....but this year we decided to mix things up!! This is a picture of what the Candy Bar looked like last year:

I'm excited for the luau as well....it will finally be nice to meet everyone in person!! I'm also glad to hear from someone that has stayed at the Carousel......the rooms look very nice & if the beds are as comfortable as the ones at the HoJo.....I'll be one very happy girl!!

I'm not much help with the fear of flying but I've flown Southwest a lot. They are my favourite airline. We drive from Vancouver, BC to Seattle to fly with them. They're not perfect but they have been quick to follow up.

Fare on Southwest change often, so if you see a good fare, book it. When you are selecting the flight, choose one that says "no plane change", then you won't have to worry about connecting flights and running through airports.

Last year we booked our flights and about a week later the fares dropped. I phoned Southwest and they gave us a credit for the difference. They wont give you cash back, but you do get a credit for Southwest, it's valid for a year. (although if you don't fly much the credit won't be any good to you).

24 hours before your flight, you will be able to go online and check in. Southwest don't assign seats just a boarding category A,B or C. You choose your own seat. We normally end up with B boarding, and have been able to get good seats.

The morning of your flight allow yourself plenty of time at the airport, it will help with the anxiety. We normally get to the airport about 2 -3 hours before our flights. I know that's extreme and to much for most travelers. But then we don't get fidgeting at the lineups for bag checks and security. Once all the official stuff is out of the way. We grab a drink (coffee for DH, hot chocolate for me), find a seat at our gate (usually on the floor) and read.

Tell the flight attendant that you are afraid to fly. Don't be embarrassed, they'd prefer to know ahead of time. Choose a seat in the middle or front of the plane. The back is louder and you feel any movement more. Also it's where the bathrooms and galley are so can be very crowded.

Good tips on where to sit....I was unaware that being in the back would be different than anywhere else on the plane. The less noise & turbulence I feel.....the better!! :hug:

I can't believe I'm at 100 DAYS!!!!

Right now, the planning is signing up for meals, the Meet-n-Greet, Scavenger Hunt & Tours. Meal choices are: Celebration BBQ, Pacific Wharf, Napa Rose, Carnation Cafe (breakfast or lunch), Cafe Orleans (lunch or dinner), River Belle Terrace (breakfast, lunch or dinner) Rancho del Zocola, World of Color dining (picnic, Ariel's or Wine Country Trattoria) & Fantasmic Dessert Seating.

I'm interested in most of the choices, so it will depend on which day & meal they do these. Love the BBQ, we did that this summer & it is really good!!

Pacific Wharf is nice but could pass on this meal.
Napa Rose is something I've wanted to try.....but am passing on this so I can experience it for the first time with my hubby!

Carnation Cafe is a breakfast favorite of mine....so if they decide to do the breakfast, I will sign up for it.

I also love the gumbo & Monte Cristo's at Cafe Orleans....so I know this one will be one I attend at either the lunch or dinner time!!!

My family also likes the breakfast at River Belle Terrace.....but my older sons have had dinner there & thought it was very good!!! So I'll be open on this one for any meal.

I've only had Rancho del Zocola once & wasn't impressed.....but I continue to hear good reviews, that I would be willing to try it again......Mexican food is my favorite food!!

World of Color is a fabulous show that I can't wait to see again!! We did the Ariel's Grotto Dining Package & it was soooooo worth it. Best meal we had all trip!! I know a number of the ladies are wanting to do the picnic & now there is talk about watching from the GCH balcony. So not sure what the majority of the group will chose, but I think I'm gonna stick with Ariel's.

I'm also interested in doing the Fantasmic Dessert Seating......I've done this before & found it a great way to watch the show!! So I will be signing up for this again.

I'm obviously signed up for the Meet-n-Greet since I'm on the committee....but looking forward to meeting so many of these gals in person that evening!!

I'm also signed up for the Scavenger Hunt. It sounds like fun......hopefully I'll be on a team with some experienced hunters.....lol

I'm gonna pass on the tours.....I've done the Welcome to Disneyland tour & Walk in Walt's Footsteps....both tours very good, but don't feel the need to repeat them......yet! The other tour they've done in the past is the Segway Tour.....but I'm not sure I'm that talented....... :lmao:

So those are things being decided on right now. We're also deciding on shirts, colors, days, etc. When something is decided I will post that news!!

I can't believe I'm in single digits!! :cool1: Thanksgiving was nice & quiet but very delicious & I've already got my house decorated for Christmas......just no tree yet...a little early for that. My hope this year is to do a Disney tree. Unfortunately, the ornaments are sooooooo expensive!! I have about 15 ornaments right now.....so will have to keep my eye out for specials.

How many of you braved the Black Friday shopping??? Not me......took my kid to work one year & couldn't believe the masses of people outside the store because it was too full to go in.....thanx but no thanx. I have yet to see a deal worth losing sleep over & fighting with every person in town for. For those that went.....I hope it was successful & stress-free!!!

We have a fake tree and have a holiday tradition of having a party the day after thanksgiving and putting the tree up. This year we did it Sunday instead, as we were going to be out of town. My tree was a Disney tree for years, when the kids came along, I added a second tree for all of the ornaments the kids got or made. That tree "died" so they're all on our regular tree. I got alot of the ornaments all over the place. Very few were Disney purchases. You can get them at WalMart, walgreens, and the seasonal stores for a pretty good price overall.

In different news......Michayla went up for her nap yesterday (and there is a baby monitor in her room), I have no idea what she did.....but she came down with a huge goose egg by her left eye & has quite the shiner today. Michayla doesn't tend to feel (or process) pain like most of us.....so no screaming or crying to let me know she got hurt. Really scary to see that kind of injury & have no clue when or what she did. Poor little lamby!!

We also had a big scare with our 5 yr old, Addy......after school she took off in front of Anthony & at the crossing.....she saw the crossing guard on the side street & thought it was safe to go & she ran out on the main street & came within inches of the grill of a truck! We thank God, that the lady driving was paying attention & was able to stop in time. Addy's angel :littleangel: was working overtime yesterday!!! She was pretty shook up....but so were the rest of us. Remember to hug your kids every day & tell them you love them!!!

I'm glad you've seen some of my other TR's.......I'm sure I'll be fine....just not sure how the twins will do with me gone for any length of time. They have a rough time if I go out for a couple hours.

I'm still wavering on the flying thing....but it really makes sense to go that route......much quicker which gives me more park time!! (that's what I keep telling myself......lol)

There will still be plenty of candy but also snack bags of chips, nuts, fruit chews, granola bars, etc.

Last night was the Diva's Stocking Exchange!!! These exchanges are a lot of fun to do. I've done a summer exchange, 2 Halloween & now 2 Christmas Stockings!!! This is what I got from karylrocks (Carol):

So we gave our kids an early Christmas present today!!! A 3 yr old female Labradoodle named Piper. She belonged to a friend of mine that lives in the country......but they have tons of mud & just couldn't keep her. She's fully trained & has lived with lots of kids (they do foster care). She's about 45 lbs & thinks she's a lap dog.....lol We brought her home to see if the kids would like her & the dog would tolerate our kids & everyone fell in love with her......so we told the kids we were keeping her (originally she came to our house for us to "dog-sit")......Anthony & Addy both started crying. They were so happy!!! Hopefully this will calm things down around here.

We're also ordering our group T-shirt!! Very excited about seeing the finished product.

I booked it for 4 adults, Michelle's friend Juliette may be joining her on the trip & we may have someone else that decides they want to do these.......better to show up with less people then more than what the ressie was for.

Now, ready for this..........Mike's gonna see if he can get a few days off, so he could drive down on Sunday (arriving late) & joining me on Monday (which is the official day everyone leaves) & staying until Wednesday morning!!!! 2 days in the park with just Mike & I!!! :cool1: He's going to look at the calendar at work to see if this even possible!!! Of course, we also would need to get my oldest son to come down for a few days to watch kiddos with his brothers......fingers crossed!!

I am a firm believer in the statement "some children's parents". He would take whatever Jason was playing with away from him. He wouldn't have an interest in the toy until Jason got it. He pushed and shoved the other kids, he was a regular little bully. And the mom would sit and say "don't that ds" and laugh. When he was eating he would break the food up and then throw it on the floor. Including a layered taco dip. She just smiled and laughed.:headache: You see why I wanted to spank her?

This morning I'm calling Disney Dining for our Cafe Orlean's dinner!!! Absolutely love this restaurant! I'm also mailing out my checks for the Girl's 2011 T-shirt & Fantasmic Dessert Seating. I FINALLY got my plane ticket for the trip.......I've been putting it off & putting it off....finally buckled down & did it. If I had the money 2 days ago I could have gotten a much better price, but unfortunately that didn't work out & had to pay $50 more for the same flight!

karylrocks/Carol is on the same flight, as she lives about 50 minutes from me. We've never met in person, but I am still very comforted by knowing I'll be sitting with someone I know (if that makes sense?). She actually switched her seat so we could sit together!!! I'm so glad she did that!!! Even Mike feels better knowing I'll be in good hands when he leaves me at the airport check-in.

So next thing I need to figure out is.......I was told by someone on here to go online 24 hrs prior to the flight to print out my stuff......but will they send me an email telling me what to do???? I got a copy of my purchase with a Confirmation Code....but no further instructions.

I'm so glad I only have to go the one-way on the plane!!!!!

Monday I'm ordering 2 shirts from Cassi of OneGreatThing on Etsy. She does the coolest Mickey tie-dyed shirts!! I got one before my last trip & loved it!!! This time since the girls have picked colors of shirts for each day I found myself lacking in a few of the colors: one being Lime Green......so I'm getting a lime green/yellow Mickey head shirt. The Mickey head will have a small flower on it. The other color was black.....so going with a black tie-dye with the Mickey head having a pirate bandana (since black was also pirate as an option). Can't wait to get those in & show you all!!

A little change to the plans......Mike has decided he really doesn't want to drive all the way to Anaheim by himself.......so he's gonna fly! Good for him.....I won't be near as worried knowing he's on the road for hours & hours alone....but yikes.......with him flying down & not bringing my car....that means I have to fly home!!! :scared1: I already purchased my airline ticket down.....so now I'll have to buy a ticket home.....heavy sigh!!

There is an upside to all of this.......we were planning on staying Monday, Tuesday & maybe a couple hours Wednesday before we started our long drive home. Now, we'll have Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday.....leaving Thursday morning!! :cool1:

So I guess it will all work out in the end & having Mike beside me during the flight will be good.

At this point we're in a holding pattern until Mike can file our taxes & we get our money back before I can purchase those tickets.....but I will probably book our package for the Paradise Pier Hotel in the next week or so!!

Welcome!! It will be very weird going without the kids....my whole world revolves around them...but I'm very excited to get an opportunity to recharge the system in my favorite place!!!

We are going to have white feather boas that blink red lights, a bracelet that lights up, a flower ring that lights, a mood ring that lights & a star wand that lights up in different colors & patterns. She made me a great deal on this stuff!!!! 5 items for each person for $15/person. I was thrilled & can't wait to see us all decked out in our bling, press passes, tiaras & the girls Diva trip shirts (the purple one with the castle)!!!

I think we all need trips like this. I never take time for myself. I don't have a hobby that takes me out of the house like Scotty does with his bicycle so I don't get that break and he understands that. The kids really take me for granted. Now that I'm back from death's door, figured I'd show off my new purchase!!

I got a sling bag to use for travel & Disneyland!! I think this will be much easier for me to use at the parks, versus a backpack that tends to be bulky. I just need a bag to keep my camera, phone, etc stuff in while at the parks. I also like that I can wear this somewhat under my arm so I know it will be secure. The best part of this purchase was it only cost me a couple bucks for the shipping!! I earned a $20 giftcard for Target.com using Swagbucks....so I only had to cover a bit of the shipping!! :banana:

I know you can wear it off one shoulder but that allows the zippers & bag vunerable while standing in lines. It feels comfy wearing on my side & I can switch sides/shoulders if it starts to wear on me. It's bigger than a fanny pack, more fitting than a purse & much easier to carry than a full size backpack.

So a shopping I did go!!! :banana: I got a Dell Laptop! It has a 15.6" screen, 3GB of memory, 320GB of Hard Drive & Dual processor. It comes with Windows 7. I left it with the Geek Squad at Best Buy to remove all the extra goop they put on new computers.....so I can pick up tomorrow morning!!!!

We decided to go look at tv's today as well......our tv died before it's 2nd birthday & Derek bought himself a new one & so we were using his little one until we could replace it. We found a 50" Panasonic Plasma tv (the floor model) for $799.......couldn't pass that up!! Now Mike is working on refiguring all the electronics so he can set it up!! :cool1: Did I mention how much I L:love:VE tax refunds?!!! :woohoo:

This Diva's trip sounds like something right up my alley. Too bad I have plans for late Feb. already with the family. I am already dreaming up a trip for my b-day in Oct. and maybe a mini diva trip of my own with my 7th dd in Nov. These AP are crazy and my year is filling up with dreams of Disneyland trips. But, you know me.....I'm trying to take it ONE trip at a time. ;)

Keep the Diva trip in mind for next year....they usually go early spring....just start following their thread & join in on the conversations!! A lot of wonderful ladies & i've been communicating with them for a few years now & are finally getting to meet up with them!!

I've had an AP for a couple years.....we're not getting extra trips in.....but it has worked out to get 2 trips in on this current one.....I will have to renew while there as it runs out the day I start my trip with Mike.

I'm glad you made it over to my report & keep watching for new & exciting things to come!! (and lots of photos of course)

I mentioned yesterday that I got our PPH reservation made & paid for. In the past, I usually receive an email showing what we're getting & total paid....but this time I didn't get it. I called Disney Travel to inquire & she wasn't sure why I didn't get one so she emailed one right out. It shows our check in & check out date, total price for the package.....but no where does it show Mike's 4 day PH or that we paid that amount.....hurumph!!!

Mike's flight is on Sunday, March 6.....he'll get into Anaheim just after 6pm. We're gonna sneak him into our room for the one night......no need to pay for an extra night for him. He'll come in, grab a quick bite & then probably go to sleep while the Girl's trip gals will be closing the park down. I reserved & paid for the Super Shuttle to get him from the Orange County Airport.

Our return flight we debated on leaving Thursday morning, afternoon or wait until evening & get more park time.......we decided to leave at 7:00pm!!! So we're getting almost 4 full days at the park!! We'll get into Portland around 9:30pm. I reserved & paid for the Super Shuttle to get us back to the airport as well.

So I think I've arranged as much as possible......well maybe one more thing.....Mike wants to do the WoC picnic for Wednesday night....so I guess I'll do that next.

I think they're treating those as tickets which you can buy online.....the food is just a bonus?? :confused3 Not sure but don't think they're cutting down on the customer service. No, I've never been able to go........In 2009, I also had a very short meeting with them during the Dole Whip for Bawb picture at the Tiki Room.....we were on vacation at the same time as the girls trip.

You know...you could always stop in for a quick day trip during the ladies trip to just get to know some of us, even if you can't do the whole thing!! The large group can be a bit overwhelming, it's wonderful to know people before you start out!

I decided to add a few surprises every evening during our stay at the PPH. I called Vacation Planning to see about modifying one of their "In Room Celebrations".....but they are unable to make changes to them, so I decided not to go that route. I was looking at the Mickey & Minnie in love one but wasn't interested in the spa basket at all & was hoping to go with something different. Oh well........ But I did add a few goodies:

On Monday evening when we return from dinner at the Napa Rose, we will find a Balloon Bouquet & 2 Champagne Glasses with Sparkling Cider. We're not champagne drinkers & may already have had a cocktail at dinner.....so figured cider was the way to go.

On Tuesday evening when we return from our late dinner at Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen, we'll come back to find a tray of Tuxedo Strawberries. Now I'm not a big fan of putting chocolate & fruit together....but I really wanted to try these & figured this would be a great time to do so.

On Wednesday evening when we return from watching the World of Color show, we will find Mickey Rice Krispy treats & milk waiting for us. Hopefully this time we actually get the rice krispy treats......in 2009 when we stayed a couple nights at the DLH.....I ordered this & we ended up with the Mickey shortbread cookies. They were ok, but a bit on the dry side & definitely NOT rice krispy treats......YUMMO!

So now I really need to stop planning.......trying to make the trip with Mike a little more relaxing!!

My laptop does have it & so does my sons who is coming down to stay with the kids....unfortunately he won't be able to bring his computer with him....his fiance will need it for schooling. We're thinking about getting one for our home computer.....my son was suggesting us learn Skype so we could video chat with the twins.

Is it easy to do?? The thought of being on camera while on the computer creeps me out.....lol Not much for being on the front side of a camera.....like being behind it. :rotfl2:

Not hard at all and you still have over a month to play with it so you will feel comfortable besides you will be too busy looking at the girls to care about being "in front of" the camera. Hey you might even consider it a tool to get them to interact a little, you never know what will work.

We already had discovered that riding Big Thunder Mt RR at night was a totally different experience.....so looking forward to seeing that with the Jungle Cruise ride.

Maybe I can hope for the Little Mermaid ride opening really early in March!!! They still haven't listed an opening for that....just spring.....well March 3-10 is spring!!! :rotfl:

The front of one of them looks like Plut is coming through the shirt, when you look at the back of it, it's like th back of him is coming through the shirt. It's really cute.

She told me due to the snow, she hasn't received her shipment of tees.....so she hasn't been able to do her tie-dye magic yet.......hope they show up pretty soon!!! I also have to find a hawaiian shirt & not having any luck on that either......don't want to spend a fortune on something I won't wear very often.

Today I went & picked up a picture frame & cute things to embellish it for the Picture Frame Exchange at the Meet-n-Greet. I'm pretty excited with what I have planned on it.....unfortunately I can't show you the frame or even go into details because it is a surprise & I can't picture it here on the PTR. Today I went & picked up a picture frame & cute things to embellish it for the Picture Frame Exchange at the Meet-n-Greet. I'm pretty excited with what I have planned on it.....unfortunately I can't show you the frame or even go into details because it is a surprise & I can't picture it here on the PTR. I will get a picture of it to share during the Trip Report. But I will say it's gonna be soooooo cute & I might have to make me one!!!

Shyann warmed up to the characters in a big way on our last day. This was at the Surf's Up with Mickey during our 2010 summer trip. She was in love with Goofy this morning!!

So I downloaded the Skype program onto my laptop & actually tried it out chatting with my son. So it's set up but will need to get a webcam for our new computer so we'll be able to video chat with the kids while we're in Disneyland.

At Surf's Up with Mickey, Michayla walked in & sat down at Mickey's feet.......Mickey sat down with her. It was a very sweet moment.....Shyann & Addy then joined in. (sorry the picture quality not the best, but the moment was!)

I got another 10 snack bags stenciled today.......a little frustrated that the stencils aren't staying put like they did the first round & the bags don't look as nice! Oh well......I guess they are all hand decorated & I never said I was a professional artist! lol They'll still hold everyone's goodies just fine!! Need to do 15 more. I believe if I counted right, we have 35 people coming. At least that's the amount of nametags I've done....so if my numbers are off....I've missed someone!!

I hope you can work it out.......you can always mention it to your dad.....prior to that night.....saying I don't want to do it if it would make you uncomfortable & we can just play it by ear that evening!! :thumbsup2 He might actually enjoy spending some guy time with Ayden.

Our 2010 trip, at the Celebration BBQ with my MIL, Michelle (zoemakes5) & myself! Really enjoyed spending the day with Michelle & Zoe!


Hooray....my tie dyed shirts are on their way!!! :banana: I was getting a little nervous about getting them in time. Cassi is back where the snow has pretty much slowed everything to a crawl due to the storms.....she had been waiting on a shipment of shirts & she finally got them & got my shirts done. I will post pics when I receive them!!!

I can't believe we're at 2 weeks already!!! I think I have everything put together & lined up for this trip. I still have the 15 bags to stencil....but should have that done by early next week. Guess I should start looking at prepacking what I can & lining up what clothes to take.

These 2 weeks will fly by (even with some of the days seeming to take forever!!) :cool1:
