I just booked the June 9th 2012 cruise on the Fantasy for two adults/two children age 7 and 10. Imagine my surprise when the 10A category was $4574 but the 9B room was only $4098! Really? Are the virtual portholes so popular that they are more expensive than an oceanview room? Even the cheapest inside 11C is $4280. Still more expensive!

Of course, now I am wondering...what is "wrong" with the 9B category? :scared:

Yep thats right. The virtual portholes are that popular. I would go ahead with the 9b. I figure this will only last a couple of years, after the new wears off.

Looking at the April and May 2012 Fantasy cruises, it appears the prices for all of the inside cabins shot up pretty quickly. They didn't start out that high!

It's true! We booked 2 inside rooms on the June 9th, 2012 cruise and now the cost is $1,200 more. Lucky we booked when we did.

I am a little miffed that they didn't release the full 2012 schedule.

WE could have chosen to sail the Fantasy or Dream, but it depends on where the Wonder and Magic are going.

I guess I just should have booked the Fantasy when prices were cheaper and then later switched to Magic or Wonder if they have a itinerary that I like better.

We are on the Dream for Aug 2011 inside stateroom. What I notice is there are really very few inside staterooms, more oceanview, but the majority of the rooms are verrandah. So, maybe that is the reason too!

I am looking into 2012 and the oceanview are definitely less than inside. I figure we will have the inside for our debut cruise on the new line, then do oceanview or verrandah.

Happy sailing.....:cloud9::cloud9:

Another reason for this would be that the cheaper outside staterooms are located Forward and Aft where there is more movement of the ship felt. Outside staterooms located midship would cost more than the Inside staterooms.

I will have to look at this when I can pull up the reservation - I can't remember our stateroom number. I recall our room being a little forward of midship but not by much.

My thoughts exactly. Not exactly fair to for those of us hoping for a good Magic itinerary. I'm just hoping the Magic's summer 2012 and Christmas 2012 itineraries will be released at the same time.

Disney is great with price psychology. Had you booked on day 1, the 10's and 11's would have been slightly lower priced than the 9B's. It appears that a 10A was around $3,900 around Day 1 for 2A2C's and an 11C was going for around $3,700 for 2A2C's. See this thread for pricing:

As you waited a few weeks to book, the inside staterooms have gone up in price while the outside staterooms have probably stayed at their same prices.

That said, I do think it's odd that Disney only adjusts prices by Category and not across the board as they sell more of a certain category. I guess they do it that way to steer people to book certain rooms.

We booked a 2012 cruise on 10/19/2010 - the first day of booking. Our 11B for our June 2012 Fantasy cruise has gone up in price by $530 while our 6C for the same cruise has held at the same price.

:wizard:We booked the June 9 2012 cruise on the first day! I thought it was a bargain for a summer cruise and the boys wont miss any school!

We booked an 11C by transferring an OBC and another 11C on points:wizard:

Wow, I am glad we didn't wait any later to book. I am OK with an ocean view. I probably would have booked that category anyway as we have an ocean view on the Dream in 2011 and I have a feeling I will enjoy having some natural sunlight in the room.

Just glad to be on the boat. :goodvibes

We are booked in two aft 6Bs verandah rooms and my sister and her family are booked with two connecting inside rooms across the hall from us.
I went on Disney Cruiseline today to check out the prices and for our July 24, 2011 sailing, there are no insides OR oceanviews left. Only verandah and concierge rooms.
We sail on other lines (mostly RCCL) and honestly think the prices are absoultely crazy for insides/ocean view and verandahs for that matter, especially for a 5 night cruise but I am looking forward to seeing what all the fuss is about on this new ship

It's an odd situtation but the lack of inside rooms seems to be driving up the price. Since they are the cheapest initally, and there are so few of them the price goes up quickly.

I'm sure a 9B will be lovely. Since no one has yet to experience an inside stateroom on the Dream, it may be that after the inital reviews, they will turn out to be no so magical. Personally we are GTY for an inside on the Feb 3 sailing so I am looking forward to it.
