Now we have some time to get to know each other. Our last cruise we had 2 years to chat before we all met. It was a blast to finally meet face to face. We were a group just under 400 of us Dis'ers!
I just noticed... are these your first cruises???
Ann:yay:

Wow, 400 Dis'ers! I'm actually part of Amreli's family, so it's still the 7 of us here so far. I see you'll be going on the Mediterranean cruise soon, how exciting!

Long, long time ago, I went on NCL. This will be my first Disney cruise, so I'm really excited! I couldn't believe how reasonable the prices were too! I'll be bringing my DMom along, but she doesn't know yet. We figure we'll tell her in May!

Oooooo a surprise cruise... how exciting. I could do only a half a surprise cruise. it would be more like "Honey, it's a Eastern Cruise" as we board the plane.:lmao:
I really like DCL prices, we do all the goodies with them, the air, hotel and insurance... and the excurtions.

Yeah, I want to tell her RIGHT NOW! since we're so excited from booking it, but we figured it'll be better to wait until May when Amreli's family comes up to visit and we can tell her then.
I'm glad to hear you bought the Disney Trip Insurance. We weren't sure what to get and for the convenience sake, we decided to go with Disney. Looking at all the different plans on the insuremytrip site was too confusing. Or, maybe it was just me :confused3
Bareacuda
11-13-2010, 12:35 AM
Insurance can get a little nutsie. We've had to use it twice, and there is nothing we've had a problen with when we used it.
So... do you have rooms numbers yet? or is it GTY?
miabellarose
11-13-2010, 12:41 AM
I'll be in room #7186 and Amreli in #7184, connecting rooms. I hear that the verandah's can be opened up in the connecting rooms, so we're happy with that.
How about you? Other than the transatlantic cruise, have you been on others?
Bareacuda
11-13-2010, 01:01 AM
I read that the walls can be moved to make 1 big veranda... how cool!
We just moved our room today, there was a mix up in what we wanted with an accesible room with a veranda.. so we have now 9170.
We've done 15 Disney cruises, with the last one the WBTA
(West Bound Trans Atlantic), we started with the maiden voyage of the Magic back in 1998. Some have been 4 days(Magic before the Wonder) and several 7 days(magic) to
B2B and B2B2B(back to back), we've done the Panama Canal Canal in 2005.
B2B is 2- 7 day cruises in a row and the B2B2B was 3- 7 day cruises in a row.
Since it's just me and Dh and we have the time... we go cruising!
We may not be experts on the ships, but we do know alot from cruising with DCL... so if you have questions... ask, I hope I can answer them.

Wow, you've done quite a few Disney cruises! We've only been on one before - the Wonder - as part of our Disneymoon all the way back in 2001. I'd love to do more, but my DH isn't the biggest Disney fan. I'm excited that we convinced him to do this one though!
I do have a question for you.. when Castaway Club members can book things ahead of time (ie Palo) can you do it for the guests that you're traveling with as well or just yourselves?

We've done 2 other cruises with the Big Red Boat right after Disney left. After our last BRB cruise, is when we signed on for the maiden voyage of the Magic.

We never have done the Wonder... too short of a cruise for us coming from the west coast. For a few dollars more we can do a 7 day.
Alot of the "not too much of a Disney fan guys" on our last cruise did the beer tasting and alot of football watching. With the Fantasy being so new, I bet there is going to be more adult activitie for them. There is also alot of shore excurtions to look forward to.
Yes... you can book things together as long as your reservations are linked. You can also link dining reservations.

Hi guys! We will be on this cruise.
Question--did anyone else receive a packet in the mail welcoming you to your "Western Carribean Vacation?" It made me panic for a second until I checked online and confirmed May 5th is still listed as the Eastern. We certainly don't want to do another Western, as we live in Texas and that's our "normal" route out of Galveston.

Well yes, any cruise is a good cruise! I wouldn't complain too much, other than having to switch cabins. I just saw the posts on the other board from today. Looks like everyone is getting these misleading packets.
So about us. It will be me, DH, and our (then) 2.5 year old son. We are first time Disney cruisers. DH and I have cruised a handful of times on RCCL and Carnival. We love WDW and have been every year for the past 5 years or so. To be honest, we are a little burnt out of WDW so we are taking 2011 off and doing this cruise in 2012
We are also taking some grandparents...not sure which ones right now. I reserved a room for my parents, but now there is talk of my father staying home and my MIL taking his place. We all just got back from WDW in November and I think my dad is a little shell shocked. My MIL and mother together at the F&W festival can do that to a person.
So anyways, that's us. We're looking for a fairly laid back cruise experience. We aren't big on the party/nightlife scene, we don't really care much about casinos, and I'm really just over wearing prom dress style formals for formal night. I'd rather spend my energy dressing like a pirate. I think DCL is going to be right for us!

I haven't booked yet but am 90% sure this is the cruise that will work for us time wise. DH is getting ready to deploy to Afghanistan again in a couple of months and after his year is over and he comes home he'll be able to take his 30 days of vacation. As soon as he actually leaves I'll have a better time frame to go by and will then book the cruise.
I'd like to stick around and get to know everyone even though we haven't booked yet if that is ok.
My name is Melissa (34), Dh is Mark (36) and we've been married for 14 years. We welcomed our first child, Elizabeth, this August but she wasn't due until November so she spent the first 3 months in the NICU. Elizabeth would be 21 months at the time of sailing.
DH and I love Disney and after our last trip to Disney World in 2007 hubby said he didn't want to go back until we had kids. So I'm VERY excited now to take Elizabeth on the Disney cruise!!
This will be our first DCL cruise but we've been on a couple of RCCL cruises and I've been on HAL with my parents/sisters family during Mark's last deployment.
I look forward to getting to know everyone!

Melissa, you guys sound so much like us! I'm 34 and DH is 35 and we just had our first baby girl (Lila) on 9/29, 5 weeks early. She was in the NICU for 2 weeks and come home when she hit 4lbs. I know those two weeks were so hard on me.. I can't imagine how difficult 3 months would be! How is Elizabeth doing now?
I can't wait to take Lila either, despite the fact that probably will be scared of the characters and won't remember it. I think at this age, DCL will be much easier (and more relaxing) than an actual Disney trip.
I'm sorry to hear that your husband is being deployed again. What a wonderful way to celebrate his return home though. :)

Anyone else getting soooo excited for this cruise?!?! Now that the Dream is about to sail and we're so much about the ship, it makes me that much more excited for our cruise next year. I wish it were closer, but I know it'll fly by.
We have 2 more additions to our group so far - FIL (Mia's dad) and his fiance just booked this week. We've invited other family members, but so far no one else has booked.
Ann - no New Years resolutions here, except maybe to lose the baby weight, but so far I haven't done so great with that during the first half of January.
Mia - you can do it. I'm rooting for you! :cheer2:

Anyone else getting soooo excited for this cruise?!?!:
Yep, so excited that I've changed our cabins twice! We were in both of the corner 9As on Deck 8, but after seeing pictures we changed to connecting 8Ds port side on deck 6. Today I changed us to connecting 8Ds on the starboard side, hoping for a little view of CC out that big window.
Our family has sorted everything out and now it is my family in one room and my mom and MIL in the other. We will have two grandmothers plus IASW nursery to help take care of our DS. :thumbsup2
For some reason or another, this cruise seems quiet. Compared to the cruises before and after, this one sees to have more availability.
So...anyone thinking about pre or post cruise plans yet? I'm not sure if we'll come in a few days early and do some park/resort time or not. For you experienced DCL cruises, what do you like to do?

Still excited about this cruise... Im excited about all my cruises!:cool1:
I found the room we needed and stickin with it. Cat 6A port aft and it's a accessible... DH has Parkinson's.
This is the quietest meet thread Ive been on... no big deal... when it gets closer.. we'll all get chatty :rotfl2:
At least our FE's wont need to be shipped ahead or making 4 or 5 big lists like my last cruise. We were just abit short of being..... 400 of us:scared1:
You couldnt swing a Mickey Bar without hitting a Dis'er!:lmao:
I wish we could do a few days pre or post cruise fun at WDW, but getting extra time off is hard to do. But ya never know. We've done pre and post fun. I like post the best. So many people ask about a shirt or sweatshirt you have on from the cruise, now you get to be the expert from your cruise and maybe get another family on one of the ships soon. They are already a Disney fan...so they will be listening about a cruise.:rolleyes1

I'd stick with that room too. Good choice!
I think I'm done changing ours as well. I'd love to have a balcony, but it's not worth it to us this time around. I like to sit out there at night, but DS will be sleeping in that half of the room and I know we won't be able to use the balcony without waking him. It's our first cruise with him, so it'll take some adjustment for us. The 8D is just the best value for a non-verandah room, especially since we were able to get Deck 6.
400?! This is our first Disney cruise, so we've never done FE before. I'm hoping this cruise will be a bit more tame than that!

Just reserved our rooms for our first cruise ever and decided to go big or stay home. We are told Disney is the best, so Disney is what we want.
Our group will include:
Room 1- DH, DS (2 years old now), DD (6 months old now), and myself.
Room 2- MIL & SIL
Room 3- Grand-MIL and her Sister
MIL and SIL are 1st time cruisers too, and Grand-Mil and her sister are pro cruisers but never a Disney Cruise.
We booked 3 staterooms, category 08-D on Deck 5. I used to be Active Duty Coast Guard and DH still is, so we know from experience that we like our rooms low and to the stern.
As I said before, we are new cruisers. Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated. We booked Main Seating, 5 pm show for dining. Is that the best option for people with small children?

We booked 3 staterooms, category 08-D on Deck 5. I used to be Active Duty Coast Guard and DH still is, so we know from experience that we like our rooms low and to the stern.
As I said before, we are new cruisers. Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated. We booked Main Seating, 5 pm show for dining. Is that the best option for people with small children?
Hi, glad to see someone else with small children booked. I have a 14 month old DS that will be going on the cruise with us. We are also in an 8D and have the 5 pm show/main dinner.
Can I make one suggestion? If possible, I would move to the 8Ds on deck 6 or even up a category to Deck 7. Deck 5 is right above the nightclubs. I've been above them on various other cruise lines and you can hear the music and vibrations well into the early morning. I think the possible disturbance from the nightclubs negates any benefit you get from being a deck or two lower.

Hi there!
I booked this cruise back in October but have just found this thread and this is my first post!
It will be me, DH and our DD (5th birthday the week before we sail) and I am so excited already!!:yay:
Have booked a cabin with a virtual porthole on deck 7 aft and we're doing 5pm show and main dinner.
Looking forward to chatting with everyone who will be sailing with us!

I'm officially booked now in a Cat 11C. I can't remember the room number though. It's going to be me and my husband, still getting used to calling him my husband.

Hi there! Yesterday I sent in a request to DU for a quote for this cruise!! Haven't heard back yet, but as long as it goes as expected we will be booked in just a few short days!
We are myself, DH, and our 2 DDs who will be 9 & 7 at sailing, booking a Cat. 5C.
We have been on 2 prior DCL Eastern cruises at this time of year (2007 & 2009) and LOVE the itinerary! We really enjoy those sea days! Our first was the exact same as what this one will be, while our second replaced St. Martin with Tortola. As long as we have Castaway Cay and St. Thomas we are happy!!
I went back and forth on what to do about dining/show times. Our previous cruises we had early seating (and no show schedule, obviously) and while it was great with our girls being young, we always felt so rushed to get ready with enough time to get pics, etc. before going into the restaurant. We finally decided on late dining with the 7:00 show. At least for now, LOL! The only reservation we have is that DH and I did enjoy having the girls in the club for a bit after dinner so we could stroll the deck and have some time alone at night - I guess we will just spend even more time on the verandah this time while the girls are asleep after dinner. I wish they could somehow have a 7:00 dining time - that would be perfect!!

Thank you for the welcome! I'm still waiting (impatiently) for my quote from DU. I sent in my request on Wednesday and also requested a specific TA after reading a thread here on the dis. I got a response back last night after I went to bed that basically just said they received my request and who would be my TA. It wasn't who I requested, though. This is definitely the longest it has ever taken to get my quote from them. I'm anxious to get this going. I want it to be official, LOL!

Yea! It's official! I paid the deposit this morning and we are booked!! We'll be in stateroom 7584! Our first cruise we were in 7576, the second 7580, and now this one 7584, LOL! We were going to go with 7576, but looking at some other threads here it looked like that one would have that slight obstruction on the one side. Looking at the deck plans we thought it would be easy to be the last Cat 5, before the Cat 4s start.

We are a family of three. We had booked for the cruise on the week of April 26th but had to move it due to school test that cant be missed. So we are booked on this cruise. We just did the Dream. I have to say that the ship is AMAZING. I am sure that the Fantasy will be just the same. We will be traveling with 4 other people. We are so looking foward to this cruise. We will be spending a week at Disney World before the cruise.

Hi we just booked this cruise and im so excited! My name is Michelle and im 27 and DH, Matt is 28. We have 2 children DD Presley 3 and DS Deegan who will be 1 on April 7th. We celebrated DD's birthday on our first Disney cruise and of course we will be celebrating DS's bday at DL! We are AP holders for DL and we are there at least once a month. DH and I have cruised other cruise lines but I love how Disney is there to cater to my children. Im so excited to see the new ship. The Wonder was alot smaller than what were used to. Our cabin # is 6598. I look forward to getting to know everyone!
On a side note Congrats to the newest little peanut in the making! Also I read a couple of you had peemies. DS was also a preemie being 6 weeks early and was in the NICU for 2 weeks. With his 1st birthday fast apporaching its very bittersweet. Also I believe I saw a pic of someone wearing a Havasu shirt. My IL's own a summer house there!

Got home from our Western Caribbean on the Magic on Sunday. we booked this cruise while on the ship, as of right now we are keeping this date... but time will tell.
We did the FE exchange on our last trip... It was so much fun! That was the first time I did the exchange, I learned alot... Like don;t get caught up in the excitement and set a budget that you can stick to!
Cruise attendees: Dh (Charles) and myself (Julia)
Had so much fun last week... though reality has set in... Last week I was drinking Champagne and eating caviar ... this week. McDonalds... :( Can't wait to go back!!

Hello everyone.....we just got back from our March 5th Western on the Magic and like many other we rebooked for the May 5th - Eastern!!!
It's me Mike - my wife Kate and our son Matt (Matt will have just turned 4).
I went ahead and booked a room for my parents as well - they need the surprise!!
Our cabin # is 12012 (Port side) but I'm thinking of moving to starboard - better views of Castaway Cay! Parents cabin is 5038 - same deal on the location.
Has anyone been on the Eastern.....how is it compared to the Western?

First of all>>>>>> WELCOME!! not yelling, just excited!
Secondly... I personally love the eastern the best. Love the 2 sea days and a beautiful time in St Maarten/ St Martin... see .. do and love the beaches.
Love St Thomas, my fav spot to snorkle, we do Capt. Nautica for that, go shopping and hit the tram-sky way then back to the ship we go.
Another sea day and Castaway Cay... awwww Paradise!
Oh boy another family from Az !!!! Yeah! And too bad for us... our closest air port is.... Las Vegas. So Phx is too far for us... dang.
As far as port or starboard... as long as Im on the ship is a good side for me:cool1:

Sorry, I haven't been posting but a lot has been going on! Three weeks ago, I was told to start looking for another job since the office I was working in was closing. That wasn't a good day. But I was more worried if I would still be able to go on the cruise than actually finding another job, LOL! So, after a couple of weeks, I found another position that's a couple of hours away. So now I'm commuting back and forth everyday for work since I started this past Monday. Next week, I'll be moving! Not too excited to move to a small town, but it'll all work out. I'm just appreciative I found another job, relatively quick!
But the most important part, I'm still able to go on the cruise!!! I didn't want to post anything until I knew for sure either way. I'm still taking my mom and we're planning on telling her when my DB, Amreli and I see her for Memorial Day weekend! I'm not sure how I'm going to reveal the surprise, but I still have time to come up with something!
So, now that I'm still part of this meet, Welcome everyone!!! Looks like there's a lot of us in aft!

Yeah, we are in #7191, I think that's 2 doors away from you so we're practically neighbours!
Congratulations on the new job! I was almost made redundant a few months ago but thankfully my employer came up with money at the last minute to keep me. Still a bit of a worry but saving lots at the moment as I am not missing this cruise!
Good luck with the move!!

My family (DH & DS) are booked on this cruise. DS will be 4 at sailing. It is our second cruise. I agree with the one poster with little ones who thought it was hard to get everyone dressed and to dinner for the main seating! We always felt like we just got back to the room after our days activity and then it was time to start getting ready for dinner. We'll see how second seating goes this time!
Our last DCL cruise was 3 days so hopefully we will have time to meet some other cruisers this time...also DS is old enough now to participate in the kds activities.
Really psyched about the new ship. Can't wait!

I have to admit... a 3 day cruise is just a living out of a suitcase for me:rotfl:
Late dining has its pluses and some negitives too.
pluses... you dont have to rush when getting back on the ship... still have time for a quick dip in the pools.
Negitives.... dinner can be slow and getting out late, I have noticed kids sleeping at the tables... it's so cute... kids with their faces next to their napkins... all you can say... they had a very busy day. :lmao: On some occatiions I wanted to join them:rotfl2:

Ok all you cruisers out there....
we need to get to chatting! Anyone intrested in taking one of the activities?
Since we have now less then 1 year...
let's do fill in the blanks game!
And I'll go first...
1. Name of all who are traveling with you?
2. What's your occupation?
3.What are you looking foward to about this cruise?
4....add another question...:goodvibes
1. Im Ann and Howard (DH) is traveling with me.
2. Howard is a massage therapist and teaches it as an Assistant Director of a massage school. Me... Im 30 days away from graduating with my massage therapist licence!!!
3.Im looking foward to everything about the cruise. 1. our cabin, its HA room for Howard. 2. The new ship, I love exploring the things
Ann:teacher:
1) I am Danielle, Dh is Curtis, and our girls are Olivia & Lauren (9 & 7 at the time of the cruise)
2) I'm a stay at home mom.:)
3) Looking forward to some quality time with DH! We don't live anywhere close to family to watch the girls, so we get very little time by ourselves. It's one of the reasons we loved our past cruises so much!
4) Magens Bay at St. Thomas! We just love hanging out and having fun as a family there - it's so beautiful!
5) We are planning (as a surprise to the girls!) 6 nights at the Polynesian after the cruise!

Hello everyone!
We were just talking today about our cruise and thought it would be great if we could find a posting for our cruise date. Not only did we find the posting, but we also found out who our neighbors will be:) We are in 9172. Currently our entire family consisting of (Dad)Shane, (Mom)Cindy, (DD1) Kristin, and (DD2)Sarah are going, but with the kids being in school we might leave them at home with grandparents and enjoy our 15th anniversary by ourselves. Either way it will be a great trip and we are really looking forward to it.
Hope everyone has had a chance to see some of the postings that came out today about the Fantasy's Animator's Palate.

2. Shane is a software engineer, and I work in the mortgage servicing industry. The kids.........well, they go to school!
3. I am looking forward to everything cruise! Our first cruise was a year and a half ago, and I LOVED IT!! It was a DCL 3 day; now I'm ready for more! I can't wait to visit St Maarten/St Martin and St John's.
4. Since we haven't decided about bringing the kids, we are unsure if we will be staying at WDW afterwards. If we don't bring them, I really, really, really want to stay at least 1 night at Grand Floridian! (I hope DH is reading this!) Just 1 night so I can say I did!

Dare I dip my feet in here?!?! We did B2B DREAM cruises in April. We rebooked onboard for the DREAM in the spring and the Fantasy for the fall... knowing we can only do one, but hard to judge this far out. We have changed the DREAM cruise date twice and now have switched it to the FANTASY. So we now have 2 FANTASY cruises booked, this one May 2012.... second one Nov 2012.... :confused3 I prefer going in May, but last December rented DVC points for a Nov 2011 WDW trip. Now wishing I could cancel it. My mom had passed away in 2010 and I was just so needing some disney magic. Thus, the verdict is not out whether we will be able to cruise in May of 2012 or wait till November. I really liked something to look forward to all winter:cloud9: Hubby has vertigo issues and is not disney obsessed like I am, so the disney trips are girls only. Very special to me! My dd are 9 and 11( would be 10 and12 at cruise time). They LOVED the B2B Dream.. .my 9 year old cried the last night and most of the next morning as she didn't want to leave! Will join in on your questions:
1) I am Amy, dd's Matti 11, Mackenzey 9
2) I am a SAHM, we also have rental property that I help manage. Hubby teaches.
3) Looking forward to just about everything, our DREAM cruise was about perfect:thumbsup2
4) We will just fly in the night before and stay at the Hyatt. Very convenient.
5) I will add another question: Where are you from? We live in Ohio, but only45 min from Pittsburgh, PA.

Hi our dd will be 12 at the time of the cruise as well. So we really hope that you girls will be going on the cruise. If you girls do go on this cruise we think it would be cool if our daughter could talk to yours via email. We did on our dream cruise this year and it worked out great cause she had a friend when she got on the ship. So if it works out for you pm us and we will exchange emails

That would be great!Matti(my oldest) would not go to the kids club at all on our Wonder cruise in 09. Her younger sister went and loved it. So for this past dream cruise, we too met people online, two families. We ended up even meeting one family beforehand at chuckecheese as we only lived an hour apart. It really made a huge difference for her. She still did not go to the tween club(I registered her exclusively for the lab even though she was 11) but she had a great time. She will be 12 1/2 for this cruise though so she will definitely be going to the tween club. I should have a better feel in the next few months if we are going on this cruise or the Nov 12 cruise, so we can try to hook them up.

So, my surprise didn't go over very well:sad1: I surprised my mother with a disney cruise, but she said she'd rather visit family at their home instead of on a cruise, even though my DBro, DSIL, and DNiece will also be on the cruise. Then she brought up that she didn't know if she could get the time off from work for the cruise and that she didn't feel stable with her current job. Which I completely understand, since I had to find another position a couple of months ago.
So now, the dilemma...I currently have a verandah room connected with my DBro, DSIL, and DNiece. Should I keep that room for myself? Book an interior room, which would be less expensive? Or room with my DBro, DSIL and DNiece, which would be the least expensive option? I'm wondering if we'll feel too cramped or if I'll need my own space? My DNiece will be 18months old when we cruise, so a Pak and Play will be needed. What do you think?

Sorry your surprise didn't go well. I would probably book an inside room if you were trying to save money. We LOVED the porthole room on our B2B Dream cruises. I didn't miss the verandah at all(we booked inside again for this one). I think it might be hard staying with an 18 month old. You would likely get put on the top bunk and many times their sleep patterns get messed up with the change of schedule, ect....

4. I'm not sure what we are going to do directly before & after the cruise. I know that we want to spend 2-3 days before/after the cruise in WDW...just haven't picked a resort yet. We are DVC members so we def need to make a decision soon!

Howdy,
We're with you out of San Jose, CA. We are first time cruisers and are excited that our first trip will be on the Fantasy. I've been watching both the Dream build and now the Fantasy...can't wait to see her for real.
We are myself, DW, and DD and DS (twins - almost 5 years old at time of sailing).

Hello everyone!! We just rebooked from the May 19th sailing to the May 5th sailing due to the date of my girl's dance recital next year! We booked a Category 5C and are in stateroom #7552. We chose the 2nd seating for dinner so the girls can eat and then head to the kid's clubs!
1. Name of all who are traveling with you? Me: Becky (will be 32 at time of sailing), DH: Brent (38), Ally (7), and Claire (4).
2. What's your occupation? I am a former Kindergarten teacher but now I'm a SAHM and a Disney Travel Agent!! Brent is the head of International Operations for his company.
3.What are you looking forward to about this cruise? Having a more relaxing Disney vacation, spending time with my hubby (don't get to do that much since we don't have family in town), exploring the new ship, etc.
4. I'm not sure what we are going to do directly before & after the cruise.
This is the 1st Disney cruise for our family!! Can't WAIT!! This is my 3rd cruise--I cruised NCL when I was in 8th grade with my family--we cruised out of Miami to St. John, St. Maarten, & St. Thomas. And then my hubby and I cruised RCCL for our honeymoon back in 1999--we sailed out of NYC to Bermuda! We prefer the 7-night cruises so that's why we chose the Fantasy (and the fact that it's a brand new ship)!! This will be both Ally & Claire's very 1st cruise and they could not be more excited!!

Here's a question for you guys. Does anyone else have dining anxiety?? DH and I have been on 2 previous Disney cruises. Since we are a party of 2 without children we've always been seated with 3 other couples...most of whom are on their honeymoons. Now, DH and I were married very young...we've been married for 11 years and don't have too much in common with newlyweds. We really felt out of place because all these people were talking about at dinner for the entire cruise were their weddings, etc.
Don't get me wrong...I was very happy for them and wished them the best. It was just uncomfy for us both times. I am a shy person to begin with and I tend to stress about these types of social situations. Honestly I would have preferred to be at a table with little kids!! LOL!! We are going to try the early seating this time as opposed to the late seating we were on during the 2 prior cruises. Maybe we'll get seated with some nice family that would like to adopt us for the week!
Thanks for letting me vent!!

For our first cruise we asked to be seated at a table just for our family of 4 and we were accomodated.:) For our second cruise we were sailing with friends and our ressies were linked and we were seated at a table for just the 8 of us. For our upcoming cruise we again asked to be seated alone (table of 4). Dinner time is our guaranteed time together as a family (at home as well!!) so it's special for us, which is why we prefer to dine alone. We want to talk to the girls about their day (favorite thing they did, what was fun, etc.) whether we spent it together or apart. Maybe you could request being seated at a table for 2?? On our first cruise the table to one side of us was a 2 top, so I know that they do it.:)

I requested a table rotation on our three night cruise as we were going to Atlantis and I knew we would not want to have a full sit down meal that night. I didn't want the kids to miss Animators. Low and behold, got onboard and Animators is Nassau day. I went to wavebands(on wonder) and they were changing a ton of people's tables... I was able to pick whatever rotation I wanted and we also ended up with our own table(although I didn't specify that).

Calling all Cruisers!!!
We are getting down to the 9 month date... and was thinking about FE gifts.
I'd be more then happy to do the lists of all who want to join!
On our last cruise we were divided into groups so none of us were overwhelmed with 400 Disers.
What would be a safe and non dollar busting number of people would like to give to?
We did about 10 rooms, about 40 people. Give me your opinion please!
If you are intrested.... please PM me and I'll start the list.
Just give me your Dis name
All names in your room
Ages of kids.... ie: Terry(DD5) Terry(DS5)
And your room number
With the FE list... I wouldnt mind doing the "Room Tour" list.
If you are intrested in us viewing your room:
Send me a PM
with your Room number and category... anything special about it.
Our's is a cat 6A handicap room. A regular room??? With so many cats now..no one has a regular room!:lmao:
Date for the room tour can be picked closer to the cruise:yay:

1. Name of all who are traveling with you?
Me: Jenny 46, DH: Scott 41 when we sail
2. What's your occupation?
Me: Admin Assistant DH: Engineer
3.What are you looking foward to about this cruise? someone ELSE doing the cooking and the dishes - pure luxury of NOTHING to do!
4. We are going to try and tie this in with a couple of days at the Flower & Garden, Contemporary or Boardwalk, not sure yet.
5. We live in Magnolia, a small town Northwest of Houston.
6. Don't know about excursions yet. Still looking into it and looking forward to hearing what others are doing.
7. Dining. Our first cruise our table mates were nice, but we didn't have much in common. On this last cruise we really got along well and exchanged contact info etc,. plus did some stuff other than dinner while onboard. I agree though, it's one of those things that you just wonder how it will pan out :confused3 We've only ever sat at a table with 2 other people, not sure how I would feel if we were put with a "group".
I may have missed some questions, but I'm chatty, so I'm sure I'll fill you in even if you don't ask! :rotfl:

I am home all day now. My job was "restructured/downsized." No complaining here. Gives me time to be with the family. Might just miss the Mall $$$.

Hi everyone,
I am just interested to know how 'formal' you are all planning to be on formal and semi formal nights? I love dresssing up and don't get to do it very often but formal wear for DH will be his kilt and he will not be happy if I make him bring it (the whole outfit is quite heavy) and everyone else turns out to be a lot more casual. Haven't cruised before so really don't know what to expect.:)

From what we've seen a lot of men wear trousers (khakis for the most part), shirt, tie..or, trousers (again khakis for the most part), shirt, sports jacket on semi formal. Formal really seemed to have an even wider range, everything from a combo of the above to tuxedos. DH wore a suit to formal night.
That said, you'll also always have those that don't really dress up - polo shirt and khakis was also among the mix.
A kilt would be fun - he'd get a LOT of attention, ;) Really it comes down to it being whatever he's most comfortable with that you can get squeezed in your suitcase. :goodvibes We had talked about renting a tuxedo on the ship to avoid packing everything, but I'm very glad we didn't, DH said he would have felt out of place - he's just not into being THAT dressed up/formal - so bringing a suit was the best for him.

I think a kilt would be great!
DH is active duty Air Force and wears his Mess Dress (military version of a tux) for formal night and I wear a long dress. He wears a suite for semi-formal night and I wear a cocktail dress. I tried to find pics, but the only ones I have from Formal night are the ones we purchased from DCL and I can't get my scanner to work.

Thanks Jenny. Sounds like it's a real mix and that we should dress however we choose (as long as it's appropriate!) DH might really enjoy the attention! Think I might have to go and weigh the kilt though.........:):)

[QUOTE=my2princessgirls;41914733]I think a kilt would be great!
Thanks so much for the pictures Danielle. You all look fantastic and your princesses are so cute! As long as there are a reasonable number of people dressed as lovely as your family, I am sure that DH won't feel out of place in his kilt and then I get to dress up in my long dress :cheer2:

Hi everyone,
I am just interested to know how 'formal' you are all planning to be on formal and semi formal nights? I love dresssing up and don't get to do it very often but formal wear for DH will be his kilt and he will not be happy if I make him bring it (the whole outfit is quite heavy) and everyone else turns out to be a lot more casual. Haven't cruised before so really don't know what to expect.:)
We do the full formal thing.:thumbsup2
I has seen many kilts worn, last cruise I saw about 6 or 7 on every formal night. And I promise not to be a "kilt flicker" !:lmao:

Ok... Howard and I are headed to Phoenix in the 12th to see a Diamondbacks game on the 13th. They are playing the NY Mets. What a great way to spend a 40+ year anniversary:cool1::cool1:
Couple of weeks ago we were at the game when D backs played the Dodgers... it was home town playing home town. Since we've lived in AZ longer then California... we had to go with the D backs.... and we won 4 to 1 !

I noticed an thread on here about the Fantasy. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2770369 It says that the Fantasy will be in NYC 4 days prior to its MV. I think I may be sick that day so we can drive the 1.5 hours to NYC...

Plans for this month: I am leaving on Sunday to take the girls to see their grandparents. We will be in Ohio for a week visiting my parents, then KY for a week at DH's parents. By the time we get home there will be one week left before meet-the-teacher day, then 2 days after that school starts (the 31st).
This summer has FLOWN by!! DH was originally scheduled to deploy for 4 months starting July 21st, but it got cancelled. We took several mini-trips early in the summer visiting family and a couple fun places in preparation of him leaving. It made those months go SO fast! I'm so sad for summer to be over!
We also just found out last week that DH will be deploying for 6 months starting Oct. 1st. We were afraid that this would happen when the last deployment was cancelled. We'd really just like to have that other one back, LOL! The good news is that he will be home in plenty of time for the cruise!! He should make it home in time for Easter.
Also, since I know I'm not the only one who does this - I checked our cruise on the DCL site and it is now $1652 more than what it was when I booked (for the same # of people, same room cat, etc). I told DH that between booking early for the cruise and knowing about the military discount for WDW, I've saved him nearly $3000 on our vacation next May!!

That's so funny. Just today I was going thru and old file cabinet I thought was empty. Inside I found several TA books with the DCL announcing the up coming Disney Magic. A letter telling me that they would be taking reservations for the cruises in September 1996!!! During the 2 year wait was horrible... no date of sailing.. no real itinerary and not really a price, because the date changed 3 times and everyone who kept their orginal ressie kept getting discounts! Lucky for us we didnt mind the date changes. With the discounts we were able to stay at the Grand Floridan for 4 days. That was back in 1996 (1998) and I still get excited over any news about the ships!:woohoo:
I hope you stay with us and then book something for 2013 while on the cruise... even if it's a dummy date!

Wow, you have been cruising for awhile. My girls would love to stay at the Grand Floridian. We hit the Poly the first year and the Contemporary, now I rent dvc points as it is so much cheaper, so we Bay Lake Tower visitors. I have some winter depression and having a spring trip really helped me immensely last winter(especially too as my mother had passed away the year before and it was the first winter without her), so I would really like to go on this May trip. Having something to look forward to all winter was so nice and took my mind off of our ugly dark cold days here near Pittsburgh! The way I look at it too, I will only cruise once in 2012, so does it really matter which month?? The cruises are comparable in price too. See me rationalizing, haha....

I have to say that our last trip this past February really helped us too. I lost my mom in march of 09. My wife lost her mom in December of 09 and her dad in October of 2010. We actually live right across the Ohio border, right on the Ohio river in a small town called Wellsville. We are about 30 min from the Pittsburgh airport. :thumbsup2 I was very blessed to have my mom as long as I did. When I was 21, she was given 2 months to live with metastatic lung cancer. We all know what the survival rate of that is... but she was the miracle, I found a dr in Youngstown Ohio(where I was a young nurse) and he said, lets try, she is going to die anyhow... so he went in took her lung out, took the lymph nodes in her chest out and gave her radiation. She lived 25 years!!!! on that one lung, and great years they were. Lived alone(just three blocks from me) saw me get married, have babies. :cloud9: I was truly blessed. Our Nov 2011 trip is "Grandma's trip!" Rented points for Bay Lake Tower on some money that I got from the sale of her house. Asked for the standard view, and it wasn't available and the guy had already booked the Magic Kingdom Castle View.... I took that as a sign from mom that she will be there with us!!!

Tomorrow is 8 months till our two week vacation. Today was a day from HELL. We lost power at 12:30 last night thanks to Irene. We woke up to 4 inches of water in the basement. Glad that the furnace and water heater are up on cement platforms. This 8 months must go fast. We where able to get a generator to get the pump running and pump the water out. now the dehumidifier is drying the basement out. I know there are people out there that have more damage but this was to much for us. We had no power for 13 hours. thank god it is almost over. the winds continue to blow so we have our fingers crossed that we do not lose power again...

Oh great... My girls will be 10(Kenzey) and 12(Matti) . My oldest did not go to the kids club at all when we cruised in 2009. Her little sister had no issues going. This past cruise in April 2011 since we met some people online before hand, it made a HUGE difference. Matti was 11 and suppose to go to the tween club but they let me sign her up with the Oceaneers club and even get a wristband which was comforting to her. But at 12 and having the experience on the Dream, she will definitely need to go to the Tween club and it would be great to hook them up with your girls beforehand. Maybe next month we can swap emails, that is how she hooked up with a few girls before our last cruise. Thanks!

So you just came back from Alaska! How cool is that??:thumbsup2
We havent been to the Bahamas in a long time... excluding Castaway Cay.
So you'll have a good idea of the Fantasy since you've been on the Dream a few times.
We are all happy that you are joining our group.:grouphug:

I can't believe how the time is just flying by! Labor Day just seemed to arrive in a blur! :lmao: We've been evacuating/not evacuating/sitting and worrying this week from the wildfires in Magnolia, TX :scared1: Looks like everything close to us is under control :woohoo: So thankful for volunteer firefighters! :worship:

Thanks Annie - looks like they have really made headway the past couple of days. We have had the DC-10, 4 blackhawk helicopters and many other air supports added to the ground crews, plus a team from CA arrived and they know their stuff! :thumbsup2 Looks like the worst is over, although the prediction is another 2 weeks, assuming no rain, maybe longer, but as long as it's within the containment area all will be OK.
Can't wait for our cruise!! :goodvibes We are going with family to WDW in November, so I have a mouse-date upcoming, but nothing beats a cruise for sheer relaxation.
Hope everyone else is doing well.

Hello everyone, we just returned from the Dream on Sunday. We had a great time and now that's it's over I can start getting ready for the next one. Which has brought me to this meet ;)
Our group is
April (me), Jeff (DH), Marcia (DMIL) Elizabeth (DD age 7) and Parker (DS 16months at sailing). This will be Disney cruise #4 for myself DH & DD. #2 for DMIL and DS. I will update with our room numbers (we have two that are connecting on deck 6).
We would like to participate in FE's and also the room tours. We saw several room types on the Dream when doors were open for cleaning!
Looking forward to talking to and meeting everyone soon!
April (jfahome).

:welcome: to the cruise April and family.
Glad to see another family joining our happy group.
I'll put you on the FE list, and are you intrested in joining in on the room tour and letting us see your room??? The more different roon types the better. It's a good way to decide on what type of room we would like to try out for the next cruuise!!:cool1:
And welcome again!:grouphug:

Yes Annie, we'll join the room tour. 6190 & 6192. These rooms are the same type, connecting though.
Also I read (I believe) that someone is in a 12th deck room? We had a fE on our cruise last week that was on deck 12 and there is a gate to those rooms. We were lucky and it was open when we went to drop off FE's but not sure how often they are open. Does anyone know? And how could we get the FE's to them if it's locked?

Without going back to a detailed map... what cat are they?
Hmmmm... that might be a problem with the FE's.
Anyone else know the answer???

I don't know what cat they were. I just know they were on the 12th deck. Like I said, we were lucky when we went there the gates were open on one side. Had the family been on the other side we wouldn't have been able to get to them. Curious to see if anyone else knows.

Welcome April :cheer2: Glad to see you join our group. :wave2: We ended up on this sailing because we were on the Dream in July :thumbsup2
Not sure what the answer is to the Deck 12 question, hopefully someone will know as I'm sure this happens fairly frequently with FE groups.

We are heading to WDW in November also, 11-18.
Some exciting news. My 11 year old dd tried out for the Nutcracker at a local Performing Arts High School and got two parts!! Thankfully we are still able to go on our WDW trip, but remember I was going back and forth between this cruise and Nov 12 cruise. I am going to have to ax the Nov 2012 cruise as I am sure she is going to want to try out again for Nutcracker and I doubt they will be so lenient about her missing a week of practice in November. She is really excited and so am I.:banana:
