We are also very exicted about the 5 day DREAM cruise. This will be our 2nd cruise and of course the first on the DREAM. It will be myself (Ali), husband (Vann), son Jack (5) and unknown baby that is due this June!

At the time of sailing, one dd will be 5 and the other 4! I can't wait until the debut of the Dream so that we can finally see pics and know what is REALLY there!!

Yes, me too! Have you been on a Disney Cruise before? Also, where are you from? We went on the Wonder before and we are from Savannah, GA.

No cruise ever. We will be on the Magic in March and then with you guys the following March! We live near Memphis, TN and I loved Savannah when we went (when I was a teen). I can't wait to visit it again.

Hi everyone! Just booked a room on this cruise for DH, DD(5) and DS(2). We will be sailing our first Disney cruise in May 2011 on the Dream and now decided to book something during my daughters March Break. We are from Toronto and look forward to meeting everyone in 2012.:banana:

Hi Nicoledee44! We will be on the Magic in March, then the Dream the following year! It will be during our oldest dd's spring break as well!

Can't wait to hear about your May cruise as well!

DH, DD and I are highly considering this cruise (we actually booked it but might change dates) - we aren't sure if the 5 night cruise will be long enough after doing the 7 night cruise in the past...

Hiya all! Please add us to the list, I just booked today. It will be myself, dh, and dd (then 8) going for her spring break. Looking forward to a few days at the parks beforehand as well. This will be our 10th cruise, but first on DCL. Can't wait to get on that water-coaster!

I haven't canceled just yet, but it is looking like this date won't work for us. I have gone back to finish my degree and my spring break is different from the girls'. We may be moving it to late May and do a land and sea type thing on our own!

We booked this cruise along with my husband's brother and his wife. We are both childless couples in our early thirties. From near Toronto, Ontario. I'm the planning freak in the group who spends her lunch hours trolling the message boards. :surfweb: The rest of them don't do anything except show up and that's just fine with me!
Can't wait - 400+ days is just too far away!

We are also registered for this cruise. It will be me, my wife, DD8 (on spring break), and DD3. We are also trying for another baby so if she gets pregnant we might have to postpone but hopefully not.

We are from Austin, TX.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you - we are also hoping that the way to get pregnant after a long time of trying is to book a Disney Cruise - on the up side though, if she were to get pregnant in the next month or two, you could just bring the new baby along :) Good luck!

Deciding to bring a new baby would be a hard decision. We booked the cruise knowing we can cancel close enough to the cruise and not incur penalties. In the past it took us a long time to get pregnant so it is a large possibility that she won't be pregnant by the cruise or maybe a few months pregnant.

Hello Everybody!

We just booked a room on the Dream for our 2012 Spring Break! After watching all of the news media on the Dreams maiden voyage we decided we had to book one for ourselves. We have been on two Disney cruises on the Wonder but have been only 4 days. Looking forward to the 5 day and having two days on the Castaway Cay! Love it there! So far its just Me, DW, and 2 DD's that will be 9 and just turning 7! Our last Disney Cruise was March of 2009 and we did the park afterwards, big mistake! This time we may do a day or two before of madness at DW then will chill out and relax the rest of our vacation. If you have children 5-10 that will be on the cruise my DD's Avery and Ayden will be glad to meet them as they are outgoing and eager to please and make friends. Can't wait! Let us hear from you.

I have wondered if anybody does cocktail parties on the Disney Cruises? I have set up meet and greet before on another cruise line and it was a good time. Had made reservation with the line for an hour for a set amount of RSVP's that prepaid me and we had an open bar to meet and mingle on the ship. If Disney does this I'd be interested. Only like 14 more months!? Ugh!

Cheers,

D'Man

Welcome fellow cruisers :)

FortWorthLeonardFam,
Hey we are from Texas too (Austin) so that will be fun. We have two daughters. One is around your kids age at 8 and the other will be three. Maybe our oldest will have something in common with your two :)

Also I have been reading about the Cabana's on CC and am interested in booking one. I might be interested in sharing one we'll have 4 in our party so if we can get another group of 4 with kids that would be great. (I would hate to subject a couple to kids). I think having the shaded area and less crowded beach would be great for our kids. It would come to $300/group.

I am not booked Concierge so hopefully a concierge guest will want to share or I can try to get one when we board.

FortWorthLeonardFam - We're practically neighbors - we live about 30 mins west of Ft Worth. Are you part of the Ft. Worth famous Leonard family? I grew up in west Ft Worth, went to Marvin and Obie Leonard Middle School (ages ago), and have worked for RS in downtown FTW for nearly 20 yrs. I rode the M&O Subway til the last day. :( A group of my coworkers and I visited the Leonards museum in December - we enjoyed it very much. I'm too young to remember the actual store, but several of them did. Fort Worth is very proud of the Leonard family, past and present. :)

UmmGooD - I just posted in the Aft picture thread to you; seems we were after the same room. I've been kicking myself for messing that up, but still happy to be center aft. (...and if for some reason you end up getting preggo and have to cancel, PM me. Would still love to have that room. ;) )

I know our girls would love to have a playmate or two. I am not sure about the Cabanas on CC, haven't ever done one there but do know I am a redhead that needs some shade. That's something I'll have to look into and get back with you on. Last couple of times I was actually content sitting in the sun all day because the weather was perfect and the beer was cold.

We have family in Austin and Round Rock, so definately would like to meet y'all.

I wish we were a part of the rich and famous Leonard's. They were a big part of shaping this great city we live in. Before the Bass family it was the Leonard's. I am proud to share the name and do what we can to make sure we don't tarnish it. We are making our own legacy though I guess.

I am also too young to remember the Leonard Store, but have had many conversations with older Fort Worth folks that remember it as the first and only Department store around to shop at. People would travel from far away to shop there. I also remember the long forgotten M&O Subway and the ice rink. We need something like that again around here.

My wife has RS as one of her accounts with MSFT. If you know anybody dealing with MSFT retail division they will know her, name is Robin. She just had dinner with some VP's last week at Del Frisco's.

We have spent the last few weeks driving around your neck of the woods, dreaming of more land and possible spot to build down the road after the girls get older. Driving around Aledo mostly, we have a place at Possum Kingdom that we may or may not keep as a weekend lake house. Just love the quick convenience of everything from where we are at. We live in the TCU/ZOO area and love it.

Where is the countdown clock at for our cruise?

It will be our first time on a cruise so I am not sure if I would want a cabana or not. It might be nice when our youngest wants her 3 hour afternoon nap. I guess the other option would be to take her back on the ship while one parent stays with our oldest on the beach.

OK, hopefully I not going to jinx this trip....I have booked 2 Disney cruises previously, only to cancel them as my wife ended up pregnant both times :scared1:!! A little too much "magic" I guess :rotfl2:. It'll be me, dw, dd (17 at cruise time), ds (15), dd (13), ds (11), ds (7), and ds (3). We, too, are from the Austin area. Glad to hear there will be a lot of Texans on board!!

You must be a fellow Irish Catholic with that many kids! I am the oldest of 10 combined! Either way you all deserve a Disney Cruise by now! They are very family oriented and have something for everybody in the family. We have told our girls if they are good and get good grades we will take them on another Disney Cruise! Hopefullly they realize one day how good they had it. We never got to do this as kids, so we are kind of living through them now as grown ups.

We live in a little town about 2 hours northwest of Toronto (Mount Forest) and my husband's brother and his wife who are also coming along, live in Oakville. We're trying to convince some friends of ours who live at Wasaga Beach to come along as well! :)

Welcome fellow Austinite! You have quite the age spread for your kids. I too am hoping we can go on this cruise. If my wife does get pregnant again it would be wonderful but bittersweet at the same time.

I will have to bring some longhorn flags to fly from my balcony!

I never got to do it either. I am the first on my mom's side of the family with a college education and enough disposable income to do something like this so it is pretty special. Now to just have to figure out how to make them not so spoiled.

Welcome fellow Texan! My wife and I almost took a RCCL cruise on the Voyager out of Galveston in November last year. We had to cancel because my work sent me to Switzerland (and let my wife attend) in June and we didn't want to leave the kids 2 times in the same year so we cancelled.

I'll let you enjoy my verandah for awhile if you let me check out that virtual porthole. I am a bit disappointed I don't get to experience it.

Hello Everyone! My daughter Merissa (10 at time of cruise) and I (Rhonda) are on this cruise during her spring break 2012. We are from Desoto, TX, just south of Dallas. This is our first Disney cruise and we are very very excited! :yay:

UmmGood--I had considered finding a family or two to share a Cabana at Castaway Cay. It IS expensive, but I may be interested. We are not in concierge though, so cannot help you with early booking.

FtWorthLeonardFam--re: cocktail hour dismeet--I don't drink much, but I saw on a trip report that some Dis'ers set up a Make Your Own Mojito Tasting meet. Each person had the setups to make 4 kinds of mojitos and were led thru how to make them by the bartenders, then, of course, the tasting! It looked incredibly fun and I would definitely be in for something like that!

Hello there and welcome to the Dream Cruise forum, we can't wait. There are threads posted about these fish extenders in depth. Basically they are ornamental fish things extending from every cabin door I believe with the cabin number, that can hold mail letters, or a bag of goodies that people will hang up. I know lots of people will buy goodies like candy, home town keepsakes, magnets, sometimes little bottles of liquor, or whatever. They will get a group together from these boards and exchange room numbers and basic info about who is in the cabin and anonymously give little surprises to other DIS cruisers on the boards on on board. It sounds like fun and gives the kids a little extra surprise at the end of a long day or morning to start the day. Just do a little search about it and you'll see what I am talking about.

Well we'll have to consider that Cabana. I really think it would help with the kids having a place we could take a break.

I just wanted to clarify too, that I'd be up for doign it, if the numbers are small. I read on one of the threads, that someone had to do 150 FEs. I could not imagine doing so many or carting them to Oralando from home. It sounds like a lot of fun and added magic for the children.

Who else is interested?

Decision to cruise made. - check.

Pick out cruise dates - check.

Pick room - check and got !!!

Make arrangements and book - check.

Dining rotation picked - check.

Signed teenager up for Vibe - check.

All there is left to do is wait....... that's the part I'm not looking forward to. Guess I'll be on the boards often to kill time.

Count us in for the FE as well.

:cool1:Looks like Texans are taking over the March 13, cruise. This will be our second cruise with Disney. The last one was when our youngest was 6 months old and she will be 6 when we cruise this time. We also have a DS who will be 14 and another DD who will be turning 11 right after the cruise. My husbands whole family is joining us to celebrate his parents 50th wedding anniversary along with our good friends who were on our last cruise with us. I think we are up to 21 people now. So there's more Texans to add to the group! I am hoping to find a little friend for my 6 year old to play with since she is the baby of the family and has no cousins or friends close to her age. It will be Ontario March Break and I'm sure that we'll be able to fill up a couple of more rooms with Canadian Disney Fans.

I'm looking forward to chatting with my fellow cruisers for the next little while and passing the months away.

Our party is very small, just 2 of us. My DS will be 16 when we travel but we both really enjoy cruising with the Mouse. This will be our 3. It's been a while since our last trip (2006). We're very much looking forward to enjoying some much needed time away.

So there's more Texans to add to the group! I am hoping to find a little friend for my 6 year old to play with since she is the baby of the family and has no cousins or friends close to her age. We need to get a bunch of Texas magnets for our doors as we take over the ship.:yay:

Hi! :wave2: My daughter Merissa will be 10 on this cruise also. Just the two of us traveling, so she will definitely be looking for friends to hang out with. Love the idea of Texas magnets!

So, any takers for organizing the FE gift exchange?

Can we set some dollar limits? I'd personally like to keep it inexpensive. From what I can see, some do one gift per cabin, whereas others do one gift per child or per person? My preference would be one gift per child or one gift per cabin.

Who wants to organize??????????????? My thought is it should be someone who's done this before.

If anyone wants to start a list..... When we sail, DD will be 6 and DS will be 4.

I'm so stoked about this; everytime I go shopping, I've got my eyes open for gift ideas. I know its still plenty early, but I'd love if we could set down some guidelines for our FE.

Rob (Kias) and I are from Ohio, and I saw Kelly from OHio on this board too.

I love the sound of mojitos! Our DS (11) was looking at videos on youtube today of the ship, etc and is super geeked! He saw all the video games and I think he lost consciousness for a minute. LOL :worship:

Planning my FE and told Holden he's in charge of the magnets! We will be driving down from the Toledo area and probably going to Universal for the day before to see the Harry Potter Wizarding World. H has been a big Harry Potter guy since he was little.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone. Would LOVE to do a mixer when we get there, like someone mentioned.

We are big Geocachers and Letterboxers and have started looking for those on the stops as well :mickeyjum:

We have 3 older kids in college, and this will be our first big trip without them and our first cruise ever.

Hi,
We went the same cruise week in March and it was mainly Texans and people from Canada. We are very much looking forward to this cruise. We did the Wonder in 2010.

We will have a son that will just have turned 5 and a 9 month old son who is due this June.

We are looking forward to meeting everyone!

Hello there,

Just wanted to let you know that your post made me smile. My DS and I are also on the cruise and he's such a big Harry Potter Fan as well. We actually stood outside the house where they filmed the street that he lived on, "under the stairs" shots. We did a Harry Potter's London tour last summer. Have the pictures of the trolly going through platform 9 3/4.

We're working Universal into our plans before the cruise.

Looking forward to chatting.

Removed my comments about pricing - seems the 6a's are sold out now and I must have caught it when the system was in a wierd place. :) It was showing nearly 5K for a party of 3, but it looks like all the other categories are still pretty much where they were... whew, that was freaking me out.

I would love to participate in the FE - sounds like so much fun!

Anyone else planning a few days at the World beforehand? Any idea when we'll be able to start booking for resort stays?

I might consider a stay in one of the resort hotels right before the cruise. Maybe some time at DTD but I don't know if we'll hit the parks. I might only allow one day. We have also been considering a beach day before the cruise but the more I think about it we'll have 3 days in port for beach days.

I am glad I booked when I did. I got a great room and the price wasn't too bad for spring break.

UmmGooD Your daughter sounds like my son. If it's a girl he'll follow her anywhere...lol.

Last time I checked she was a girl haha :)

She'll be happy to have an entourage.

I am a bit disappointed I don't get to experience it.[/QUOTE]

Sounds like a deal, would love to check out the Veranda and we were originally going to book one but the DD wanted to do the virtual porthole.
It really looks like there will be a lot of Texans on the cruise. It will be great and I look forward to checking out all the door decorations and fish extenders. A lot of Canandians also, great times, honest eh? DW is originally from Oklahoma and I"m from Michigan, daughter is 100% Texan. We will probably represent all three states on our door. We are in cabin 9049 deluxe inside, deck 9 of course. What really surprised me was the number of inside cabins, or lack thereof on the ship. And then to have only 19 of them be deluxe, it is no wonder that they sell out so quick. We look forward to a good time and can't believe that we have less than a year to go.:cool1:

Hello everyone - Just returned today from the Wonder MR Cruise, it being our first Disney cruise (12th cruise all together) we had such a great time we booked on board for the DREAM double dip. If the DREAM is anything like the WONDER I'm sure we will all have a great time. Traveling will be DH, Myself and DD (8) her spring break, we are from Alb, NM We are seeing if friends or family want to join so we will see. We traveled this spring break just the three of us and met some great people aboard the ship. FE is a must  and even though its a year out, I would consider organizing it but it is a year out, I'm a planner but a year out wow! I'm still on the high of the WONDER but know this will be equally great. Have we decided if everyone is in to do a Fish Extender Exchange?
I am in if we are.... I have been in one before but never organized it, has anyone decided if they would like to?
I do remember that we all posted our party information including, age, male, female etc... As the cruise got closer we did an excel spreadsheet with room numbers and grouping, this made it easy when you were handing them out.

I should be studying for nursing exams and I find myself on the disboards looking for more and more info on the Dream!

Hi Kristin - Earlier in this posting I said I would take on the organizing the FE if no one else would but thought it was a bit too early to get this started right at the moment. I'm thinking I can start getting the list together by Nov 2011 but have the deadline to sign up be Jan 2012. I just got off the Wonder and that is about the time our organizer got it going. People start getting anty around Jan on how many people they have to prepare for. Does this sound good to everyone. I guess I've taken the task on unless soneone else wants it.

Also does anyone know what princess the Dream has. For instance the Wonder was all Ariel jsut wondering who the Dream is about. Thanks

Oh and welcome Dawnette!!!! We are so excited your going with us on this cruise.

Hey All!

Well you can add another Canadian Family to the mix! Seems like we Canucks have to gather on a cruise to meet each other. heheh. Anyways We are a family of 4, Myself, DH and 2 DDs (14 & 13 at sailing) and staying in adjoining Verandah rooms on the 7th floor. We have a late seating for dinner. We hail from Loretto, Ontario..and for you fellow Canucks we are located about 10 minutes south of Alliston.

This is our second cruise. We did the Western Caribbean on the Magic just this past December and can I say that I think we have switched from being just Disney World addicts to Disney Cruise and Disney World addicts. We are going to be doing a Land and Sea using our DVC membership in Animal Kingdom Resort before the cruise and then sailing. BTW March 13th is going to be my birthday, so you could say I got one heck of a birthday present for next year!

A few things from reading through the boards....first...is our original poster no longer on the cruise? Wondering if we should make a new thread to someone that is on the cruise so we could keep an updated list of passengers on the first page as well as any other important info. We did this for my last cruise as well when the original poster left.

Second...Cabanas....WORTH IT!! Love love loved ours! Just the private beach section alone makes it worth it. Of course I loved the little red button as well....heheh instant service. I'll post pics if people would like.

Third...Fish Extenders...gotta research it a bit more, but I just might be interested this time around.

Fourth...Cruise Meet/Meets... I would recommend more than 1 cruise meet if you are doing one on the first day (day of boarding) of the cruise. (actually I recommend we do it on the second day) My last cruise had a meet at 3pm on the day of boarding, but we didn't even get on the ship till 3:30. We did a transfer from the Animal Kingdom resort so we were stuck on their bus schedule.

I think that is it for now...Anyways looking forward to another awesome cruise!

Well the good news for us is my wife wants to take our new baby on the cruise. So I called to add the baby to our room but we can't because we are already at capacity for that stateroom. The people at DCL were nice enough to offer to move us to a cat 5 for the price we already booked but the connecting stateroom would have been a price increase so to add the baby would have boiled down to about 3k more than the price we had our 6A booked at.

No cat 4's were available.

I decided to move to the Wonder cruise on the same week. I got nervous about the pools being so crowded and our kids are pool fanatics. I think we'll enjoy the Wonder but I am disappointed we won't be sailing on the new ship. :( Maybe another time. I am excited though that I'll be able to get an In-n-out burger on the way to the port :)

UmmGooD - Sorry to see you aren't going to be on our cruise, but thrilled you are able to still take one. Congrats on the baby! I hope everything goes well for the DW!

Fish Extenders - Ok I've researched and I don't mind heading up a FE for this cruise. If you are interested in joining in the fun just give me a PM and I'll set things up. I think once we establish how many approx. will be in the list we can set up a dollar amount and discuss other specifics.

Cabanas - If you scroll down to the end of the gallery here http://gallery.me.com/brennamount/100120 you can see some of the cabana shots on Castaway Cay.

In my posting #89 I said I would organize the FE but thought 300+ days was to early to even start planning for this. We are still having people leave and join and I'm sure this will continue for the next 6 months. It was decided we would start the list in Nov and then the cut off would be Jan, this will give everyone plenty of time to plan and create. More details to come when the list is started in Nov. Thanks Kathy

PS and yet is it sad I know we have 300+ days till this amazing cruise. :scared1:

We are booked on this cruise as well so add another Texas family to the list :)

This will be our 5th Disney cruise (the others were all on the Magic) and we are excited to try out the new ship. We love going to CC twice - we were lucky enough to do 2 double-dips on the Magic in the past!

Our group consists of me, dh, dd (11 almost 12 at time of sailing) and ds (8 almost 9). They are both looking forward to meeting other kids on board.

We'll be glad to participate in the FE exchange once the cruise is closer and the serious planning has begun :)

We booked this cruise onboard last fall right when the dates came out and were very lucky to get a great price and just the connecting rooms we wanted on deck 7. I have been following the sailing online and have been amazed to see how quickly the rooms have been booked (and thusly how quickly the prices have risen!). We visited IOA and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter before last fall's cruise and had a great time. So, we are planning a return trip before this next cruise for some more fun and butter beer lol.

Looking forward to meeting you all onboard in 11 months!

Sorry, I've been MIA ....I've been busy planning our Dreamworks cruise on Royal. I'ts not disney, but we've got KungFu Panda, Shrek, and Madagascar Penguins. HAven't told the kids yet but they will be sooooooo excited. We wont tell them about DREAM until Chrismas.

I know it was decided that we would wait until November to get a list going on FE gifts .... but I for one would like to get a head start .... even to get some tentative numbers. I have some things in mind now and if I wait too long, they'll be gone. I don't mind overbuying, but i don't want to underbuy.

Hey there, the Dreamworks cruise sounds fantastic!! I have to take a look at it for sure.... I agree about a little earlier on the fish extenders, I feel that with Christmas and holidays in there it will be crazy busy. I would like to get an idea of how may people and start picking up odds and ends... and get a bit of a head start-- my last cruise we kept adding people at the end and I had to switch some of my gifts around.... what ever works for everyone I am in either way!:) K

Yeah i agree to a bit earlier so I can get stuff around Thanksgiving when stuff might be cheaper for the holidays. Been seeing some cute stuff but it is hard when we have no idea how many are going to do this. i'm not really sure how all this works anyway but it sounds fun

I'm reading all the concerns on the FE list. Still saying it too early to start a prelim list, since we are still having alot of people dropping and adding to this cruise, I think if we have a list now it will be more work, sorry. I can tell you we took the Spring Break Wonder trip this year and I can tell you we had two group of 12 families. My hope for the list is that we can have 12 family in each group since it makes it managable. If I were you and see something that you would love to include into your gift I would suggest picking it up and putting it away, I've done that already keeping in mind that the goal is to have 12 no more then 15 in one group. I promise the weekend of Thanksgiving I will post that I'm taking names and we will close it the second week in Feb. The next 10 months will fly by and I can't wait. Have a great week everyone Kathy

WOW!!!! that is a great price for a flight! We fly out of Buffalo and generally are looking at 600 ea way, I am concerned about the fuel costs....nothing you can do to change it though!

We are on American Airlines out of MC0 to Dallas. And we just booked our outbound flight to Orlando, price was a little higher. It was $97.00 per person. So for under $500 we got the round trip for all three of us.

So KAP, are you organizing?

I think you are saying above that we can count on having no more than 12 to 15 in a group?

Can you provide some rules for the FE exchange such as:

just gifts for kids or adults too? [so even if we have 12 families, we could have as many as 24 kids or more?]
age limit for kids?
is it one gift for the week, or gifts for each day?
suggested dollar value?

I've never done an FE before, so I'm unsure of all the rules. It would be nice, if someone wants to organize, to get a table going, with kids ages, just so we know which families have kids in our same age group. My kids will be 6 and 4 when we sail.

Hi, Getting a working list together at the beginning of the thread is a great idea! Just how many are in the party, children boy/girl and ages. That way it is not as so much work when we start in November... and people can tell you that they cancel and it is on the page.
When i was a participant we did at least 30 in a group-- so 15 sounds much easier... we bought for each child and adults something small, but many people would just put together a keepsake or a group family gift... not sure what others will say about their experiences.
Happy Sunday Everyone!

OK it seems their are a few on this board that really really want a list, so you've asked and asked. I request you PM me with the following information. DIS-Name, E-Mail, Your Name, Parent Occupation, Age of all traveling including Children’s names, Dinner Seating, State Room#, Hometown.

Our last cruise Spring Break 2011 on the Wonder, we left it up to each family if they did a family gift or just the kids. We as a group didn't feel we needed to dictate price/gift etc. Most of us did one gift for the week. You make this experience what you want it to be. A list can be started but you will not know who's in your group till we close it in Jan 2012 but I will try to keep it to 12 to 15 families. Thanks everyone, please understand I'm not on the board as much now so it might take me a few weeks to respond to you. I really do not get on the boards Religiously till after Thanksgiving. Kathy

Booked this cruise last Thanksgiving on the Magic but haven't had time to focus on this cruise until now. With 100+ temps outside, decided to think about cool tropical breezes. Add another Texan to the list-live near DFW airport. Sailing with me is DH and 2 DD's (16 and 13, time of cruise). Participated in FE's the last 2 cruises- so much fun! Will have to make a new FE- last two over Thanksgiving so it has a turkey theme. Been on the Wonder, twice on the Magic and can't wait to see the Dream!:cool1:

We just booked last weekend for this cruise. This will be our fourth DCL trip. We did the Western in 2003, Mexican in 2006, and Tortola in 2009 all on the Magic!

It will be myself, Jenny; DH Mark, DS14 Marshall (will turn 15 March 18th), and DD13 Mallory (at time of sailing). Our DS18 will not be joining us.

We live in Indiana, so this is our spring break. Originally my DH had booked us in January and with my being a teacher and the kids' school schedules, I just couldn't do it.

I just booked (August 29) Jet Blue from LaGuardia in NYC to Orlando for $375, including trip insurance.
Best price I've seen to MCO for a while.
However, I;m leaving on Thursday, March 8, and spending a few days at DW. Flights on March 12 or 13 might be more expensive, as it's Spring Break.

Joining in for the fun! This will be our first cruise ever. I'm treating my Mom to a, hopefully, awesome fabulous trip of a lifetime! This trip will be right between both of our birthdays, so that makes it even more special for us. Will be staying at WDW after the cruise, I'm hearing from some people that that's not too good an idea? My thought was I didn't want to get off the boat and know our vacation was over... We're from Maryland, Southwest still hasn't posted their flights so I'm not sure how much they'll be yet, hopefully not too bad.

So glad to have found you guys, it makes it even more exciting (if that's even possible!)

BTW - Southwest flights have no openned up .... was getting a pretty good deal on a flight this morning ($1320 for the 4 of us) but had trouble booking with DH's reward number (turns out they had his first and middle name together). I'm not sure why/how that happened because I've never had a problem booking before.

By the time they got it fixed .... the flight went up by $100. Oh well, at least with SW, you get a credit if the flight goes down.

For anyone considering Direct Air. .... we just flew them to Lakeland, and it was a reasonable (about 90 minute) drive to port. THey have a voucher deal on right which gives you a return flight (any two destinations) for $169. Pretty good deal ... but they nickel and dime you (no complimentary drinks, and they charge for all checked luggage). I like the comfort of flying into MCO (more options for car rental), and I just really like SW.

Thank you! We did have a great holiday .... we did the Dreamworks cruise through Royal, so we had characters from Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, and Shrek. it was good, but I'm expecting Disney to do better!!!!!

We actually folled Dream around .... in port on embarkation day, she was right before us .... we followed her out to sea, then we docked near her in Nassau, and then pulled in behind her back in PC. I took lots of pictures!

What are everyone's plans? We're flying in on the 12th and staying at the Wingate that night. Booked through the Windham website and got a rate of about $90 including breakfast. Hotel reviews look great. On the way back, we are staying at the same Wingate again and got an even better rate for about $80 including breakfast. Also got cars booked for the drive in and the drive out.

We normally stay in PC ... but the drive is so short, and hotels were much more expensive. We just stayed at the Radisson for $97, and on March 12 it goes up to $150.

We've been to PC a few times now .... If anyone has questions, I can try and help.

Been awhile but I thought I would check in! Welcome to all the new arrivals and congrats to Sparty!!!

Hey Queen of Oakville...did I ever tell you I used to live in Oakville? Before I got married I lived in Glen Abbey for 10 years. :goodvibes

Anyways our plans are as follows. We will be staying in AKV from the 8th till the 13th where my brother and sister in law will be staying with us. (We have a 2 bdrm suite through DVC) From there we will be parting ways with them and we will head onto the Dream.

btw I have to re-iterate that if we do a cruise meet we should either make it later in the evening or the following day if we want everyone to have a chance to make it. My last cruise meet was at 3:30 on departure day and we didn't even get on the boat until that time. We would have loved to have been earlier but we had to wait for the Disney transport and they were running late that day.

After the cruise we are heading back to Animal Kingdom and staying there (through our DVC once again) for another 2 days before we head home.

Time seems to be flying around here and I can't believe how much closer we are to living a dream on the Dream!

btw do we have a name for our cruise at all? Just wondering if I plan on doing some personalized stuff for the FE's.

Brenna! Cool! I used to live in West Oak Trails (near Loyola).

A name for our meet and greet sounds great!

I'm really looking forward to seeing the "lists" and the ages of the kids sailing.

What kind of dinner ressies did you guys ask for? We asked for a private table, but now I'm wondering if we should have let Disney magic pair us up with another family?

I'd read stories on the main board about kids with atrocious behaviour, and the last thing I wanted was to be paired up with one of "those" familes.

I've recently been hearing stories about friendships formed at dinner and how nice it was for the kids to have playmates.

Now I'm second guessing myself.

The TA did warn me that private table are very hard to come by, so I maybe I will jsut let fate work its course.:wizard:

Greetings everybody!

We'll be flying in the morning of the cruise (8:30 a.m.) and paying for the transfer to the port, I know a lot of people like to be there the day before, but I'm hoping everything will be fine. Then after the cruise we'll be staying at AKV Jambo House, studio, until Wednesday, so a good four days post cruise. I'm not sure if there will be any Spring Break crowds, but if so we can just enjoy the hotel, we fell in love with Animal Kingdom Lodge this past January which actually convinced me to buy DVC.

Since this is our first cruise I'm going to just let the cards fall where they may reguarding table mates. We're pretty outgoing so it should be fun. I've heard Disney does a really good job pairing up parties, if you're a family they'll pair you with a family of similar aged children, and if you're just adults they'll pair you similarly. Should be great fun. Planning to go to Palo and Remy, so if we don't like the table mates we'll only see them three times :rotfl:

I'm totally fine with a cruise meet later in the evening or another day, we'll be there early but definitely don't want to miss anybody.

Kap@abq - just sent you a PM with our information for the FE. Thank you so much for organizing it! My daughter and I are really looking forward to it.

Re: trip plans - My daughter and I have free dining ressies at POFQ from March 10 thru the 13. The plan is to fly in on the morning of Saturday March 10 and fly out on the afternoon of Sunday March 18, but so far the only airfare I am finding is outrageous--about three times as much as I'm used to paying.

I know there are a lot of Dallas/Fort Worth area folks on this cruise--I would really appreciate it if we could share information on any good flight deals. We have always flown American or Airtran in the past, but I am speculating that since Southwest bought Airtran (Airtran's site says no flights out of Dallas after November 2011) and it is complicated to fly Southwest out of Dallas (always more expensive than flying southwest out of Austin or Houston and longer flights due to stopovers because of Wright Amendment), now American has little incentive (and little competition) to give flights out of Dallas good prices. I looked at Southwest out of Austin--the prices are better but the flight choices are limited, so probably not worth it to drive three hours (plus have to pay to park). Anyone get what they consider a good flight deal already out of Dallas?? Anyone still looking and monitoring like I am?? Any ideas??

TIA

I know that area well. I went to W H Morden Elementary for Grade 8 and then Blakelock for high school. A bunch of my friends went to Loyola before it turned Catholic. heheh

Our dinner rezzies are for the late seating, and we didn't specify private or not. Our last cruise we got our own table, but we ended up talking with the people next to us. They were a couple that got put together with a family with very young ones and didn't speak a lick of English. I suppose if you let it really get to you it could make for crappy dinners. I would imagine though you could speak with the head waiter and see if things could be shifted somehow.

Does anyone have any suggestion for a cruise name then? For some reason all I can come up with are "The Bahama Dreamers".

It doesn't look like we get a Day at sea until close to the end of the cruise so a meet on that day might not be the best. We would either have to plan something between a port day and dinner, or perhaps we could wear something distinguishing to alert a fellow DISer? I'd love for my daughters (14&13 at time of cruise) to get a little more adventurous this cruise...they stuck to us like glue on the last one (not that I minded!).

Yep, we don't have our sea day until Friday, but that could be ok, we could see how everyone's doing. We still have six months to go, I'm sure more people will be in a little later to help with ideas :)

On our FOTS cruise, we signed for a Cruise Critic Meet & Mingle .... (we actually could all do that too). Cruise Critic is prolly the largest cruising message board and the cruise lines know it. I'm not sure what they do for Disney though. We had 100 people on our last one (Royal). We get a reception in the Viking Lounds with food and drinks and we all got little giveaways from the line. I can look into it..... For Royal, you need a min. of 25 people to qualify for the party.

We could all wear a plastic hawaiian lei on the first day. Of course, as Queen, I can also wear my crown.

We are fortunate to be doing B2B, with this cruise being the second of the two. I will be traveling with my awesome brother (Joe) and one of my two daughters (Alyssa 12y.o.) My husband and oldest daughter are passing on this trip for some reason.

We will be new to the Disney Dream, but have cruised twice on the Wonder. First on a 3-night "try me" cruise and then again this past January on the Panama Canal cruise. That may explain why a 5-night cruise just isn't long enough. We are really looking forward to trying the new ship. I hope we like it as much as the Wonder. The ship was unable to dock at Castaway Cay during the Panama Canal trip, so we are hoping to make up for missing that with the double dip!

I talked my brother into flying in a couple days early. We will arrive late on Tuesday, March 6th, staying at the Pop Century for 3 nights with the free dining offer. We are planning on going to DHS and Epcot. Then use DCL transfers from Pop Century.

I'm looking forward to trying some of the adult only areas and activities. I'm hoping DD can make a few friends and enjoy spending time at the Edge. Although I know it won't be hard to enjoy ourselves on this trip.

Happy planning,

Diane

We sailed on the Dream in June for 4 nights and fell in love with CC so we decided we needed to book the 5 night cruise to get 2 days at CC. :cool1:

Just checking in afer a while. Been busy planning another cruise with the DW on the Carnival Magic on her first cruise out of Galveston. DD12 is getting excited about her first cruise and can not wait to see her experience it. The way airfares are going up, I am glad we booked months ago. DFW to MCO is getting real expensive. Looking forward to doing the FE thing and we're already looking for things to give away.
Welcome to all the new cruisers on the thread.

aamove - small world, I am from Mabank, TX - just a few miles from Forney. CRAZY!!!

Tonight we are sitting down to plan our airfare. Flights from Alaska are limited to get there and all are red-eye, so we have to buffer a travel day on each end to adjust accordingly. We are the only ones that are OK with the late dinner seating. LOL!!

So, tonight I was thinking, on our last cruise we had a Facebook page for the group to get to know each other by face. What do you think??

The flight down is 11 hours travel time. I believe we have a 2 hour layover.
I just dread sitting that long.
Seriously - didn't planes have lounges with like a bar and dancing?? Or was that only in the movies? Like 1970's movies?

I am thinking someone is missing out on some major moolah, as I would so fly that airline everytime!

Happy October Everyone!

For those that have just joined this group, WELCOME! Just in case you haven't read all 11 pages of this board, I've taken on the task to organize the FE list. The list will close in Jan which will give everyone on the list plenty of time to plan and get their gifts ready.

Update: We have 9 kids, that is 7 families total. Each month the list is growing, how exciting.

If you haven't joined us please PM me the following information: DIS-Name, E-Mail, Your Name, Parent Occupation, Age of all traveling including Children’s names, Dinner Seating, State Room#, Hometown. I will send you confirmation that you've been added. I'm only on once a month till November and then I'm on more after Thanksgiving. So if you don't hear from me for a month that's why.

Thanks and I truly do not know who's more excited my husband and I or our daughter.

Our plan is Atlantis Aquaventure for Nassau, and parasailing for Castaway Cay. Atlantis looks so awesome! We'll be going again in May, and my plan is to do the sealion encounter on Nassau, and the kayak/walking tour on Castay Cay.

Must also start on our door magnets. Have been making a list for FE gifts, but haven't bought anything yet.

I have it set as an open group. Once we get everyone in it I will make it closed so our posts are private.

This way we can share photos and get to know each other. A face with the name, so to speak.

Hi everyone

Wanted to give you all an update since I'm on the board now almost everyday. We have 10 families equaling 15 kids. We still have room for more so please PM me and I will get you added to the list. The final list will be sent out in January and that will be the final one, no names will be added at that time. I will put one last notice out the first week of Janaury before I close it in out and send it. This will allow everyone that has signed up plenty of time to get the gifts ready.

Just last night DH and I were talking about how many suitcase we were going to take. We are headed to a National Dance competition in Denver the weekend before we leave on the Cruise. Yes we are crazy. Friday NM to Denver for the weekend then leave on Sunday for Orlando. Monday we will spent at the magical kingdom. I'm going to need a vacation with how busy that weekend is going to be. Who's headed to the park before the cruise? We are doing a day before and a day after. After the cruise we plan on staying at a Disney property...any suggestions?

Pirate Night is on the At Sea Day, Friday 3/16, which I've never read about before so thought it was odd. From what I understand I think everyone gets a different dining rotation, and we won't know what it is until the day of sailing. Is that right cruise veterans?

I think that is the one that we decided to do ourselves. We book on the 14th as well. We were so undecided about all the other excursions and thought that the fact that you get to work on your own schedule after your initial tour worked best for us.

The shuttle runs consistently throughout the day so you can leave whenever you want. We figured the waterpark was probably going to be a zoo what with being March break and all. I may carry suits with us though just in case we change our minds and want to hang out in the lazy river or something. The hubby can sneak off for a quick game of roulette as well. heheh

I, too, like the free time allotted us, although I'll spend extra time in the aquarium, I probably will only stroll through the casino, if even that (sensory overload in casinos, too many lights and bells). Here's wishing good luck to DH at roulette!

I don't know why they make it so confusing. I would think it's already scheduled, so when they send out confirmations it would be helpful if they included that stuff also.

Hi,

The website worked well for a while and then I could not do anything again until this morning as I kept getting an error message. Also, I could not get Palo brunch earlier this morning but when I went back in at 7:00 a.m. there was an opening.

Thanks for the good luck. Would be nice to pay off a bit of the excursion with a bit of luck. heheh

You're probably right that they wouldn't be shy about letting you into the water park for a fee ;-)

I just made final payment.

Did we ever get the FE stuff sorted out? I know I emailed my info to the person here who is organizing, but I haven't heard anything.

After all the hoopla of the weekend, we sat down yesterday and got to figuring it all out. You see - my wonderful DH planned this cruise without my knowledge 10 months before my birthday - a huge surprise as I normally do all the planning (Serious Type A issue). :confused3 What? At least I know!

Anyway, it would appear that the airlines know exactly when Spring Break is here and double the cost of flights. So, in realizing this, we booked our flights way out (like a week) before the cruise.
Hindsight, I am betting what we spend at the kennels for the dogs, hotels and tickets at WDW, food, etc.....it was all in vain.

so yesterday we booked the vet for shots, the kennel for keeping :dog::dog:
Then it was "OH YEAH, we have to check in". We did all of that and then realized we need to plan our 'land' portion. And once we get that figured out the transportation to-from-and inbetween.

Needless to say, we are STILL trying ot figure out if we explore Orlando, hang out at WDW the whole time or what. UGH!! In the past we have done a week at WDW. We have done a week on DCL. But we have never done a week at each, back to back. Granted - I would LOVE it. But would I be exhausted trying to do it all???

Aren't you EXCITED!!?!????!!? I can't stand it!!!!!!!!

That is one magnificent birthday surprise! Just take things easy the week before the cruise if you can, I don't think it'll be exahusting if you plan it out. What a wonderful DH!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We had a VERY disney Christmas! In addition to all the other stuff they got (hello kitty, star wars, power rangers .....) my kids got tons of disney stuff:
-disney headbanz
-disney panoramic puzzle
-disney trival pursuit
-pirate headbands
-Belle and Cinderella gowns from the disney store
-cars t-shrits
-princess t-shirts

I made up a countdown chain and sent the kids on a treasure hunt around the house to find it. I wish I could post video here, because my 5 year old daughter was jumping up and down and screaming and crying when she realized we were going on a disney cruise! I also wanted to wrap up the disney planning DVD but I left it at the office. So, instead we watched some of the videos on the DCL website. She now has the video page bookmarked on her computer and watches them over and over (she's doing that right now!) Her biggest dilemna is that she has a tinkerbell outfit + 6 princess gowns, and there are only 5 nights to our cruise! [she doesn't know it yet..... but we've booked Fantasy for Sprink Break 2013 - so hopefully those gowns all still fit her!]

We realized today we are in the '80's' on our countdown.

:woohoo: After Christmas we will be creating a countdown chain. So excited!!!

What are you most excited about? I am worried I will be doing comparision of Dream vs. Magic, and I hope that we can do everything!!!

We even have started thinking about FE items!! :yay:

If you want, I can email you the countdown chain that I made? Either post or pm me your email addy and I can send it to you. I set it up in a word doc, and has all the princess characters, wall-e, jake & pirates, monsters, toy story, cars etc.

You are on the list and the final list will be coming out in late January. Thanks Kathy

Perfect - thanks!

I think we may start builing our FE today.

Thanks for the opinions. I think that the "discover" tour doesn't include admission to the water parks, so you may want to check that out before you lug bathing suits around.
I, too, like the free time allotted us, although I'll spend extra time in the aquarium, I probably will only stroll through the casino, if even that (sensory overload in casinos, too many lights and bells). Here's wishing good luck to DH at roulette!

It doesn't include access to the pools or beach and believe me during spring break there is no sneaking (we tried it a couple of years ago LOL) A friend that stayed there last year said they even stopped and interrogated her when she was wearing a band from the day before. She had not been to the towel place to get the current days band yet. She said security is serious there. We tried to buy a day pass a couple of years ago and they didn't sell them as spring break is crazy. My friend did say last year that it was a madhouse the day all the cruise ships were in port and they complained to the hotel. Unfortunately I just found out that there are 4 cruise ships due in the day we are there so expect long waits. I may just decide to stay on the ship instead of Aquaadventure and ride the duck. LOL:banana:

Hello all! I haven't posted since page 3, but I'm still around and very much looking forward to this cruise. I've been travel plan crazy the last fews days - final payment made, online check in done, Palo ressie made, airfare booked today, hotels and car plans finalized. I'm in my element. ;)

For Nassau, I had booked a Comfort Suites room back in March, but I'm still not sure about that... I'd rather stay on the ship than go through a runaround just to save a few $. Unfortunately being first timers, the regular Aquaadventure tour is already sold out as expected.

Kathy, do you possibly have us on the FE list? Just wanted to double check since it was very early in this thread that I expressed interest. I actually bought some things back in Oct and have been working on the design for my FE hanger. So I'm hoping we're there. :)

Too cute about the treasure hunt.

We booked on the Mar 2 2013 sailing. I wouldn't say we got a great deal, but we did get a balcony. I will check again on board to see if we get a better deal.

I think my daughter has figured out her dress dilemna princess: She will take one dreass for every dinner, her pirate princess outfit for pirate night, and all of her extra dresses for character mights. *oy* I've got a little diva on my hands, .... I think we will need an extra suitcase JUST for her princess gowns.

I've been checking in at facebook, have to keep reminding myself to come back here!

I booked the March 9, 2013. Considering the prices for the 2012 7 night I thought it was a pretty good price. Is it much more than previous years? Yep, I will definitely reprice on board though.

Mar 9 was my preferred date. My kids get 2 weeks off. I know for sure one of those weeks will be the 9th. Their second week will either be the 2nd or th 16th. I was worried about gambling with the 2nd but then DH assured me the kids would survive missing a week of school (if that is the way our spring break falls!)!

By time we cruise my daughter will be 8. She is so scared that she will not know anyone as her brother is all too glad to be going to Edge. (Although - I am betting that he will show up in the Club).

I think that if we plan on a meet the first night and the girls can meet, that may help. Kate loved the club and shut it down nearly everynight. :rotfl:
