FISH EXTENDER EXCHANGE SIGN UP:
Thanks to LuckyMomofTwo for taking care of the Fish Extender Exchange.

Send an Email to SSMemberCruise2011@Yahoo.com (SSMemberCruise2011@Yahoo.com)
Please list the following:

1. Your DISboard name.
2. Stateroom Number
3. Names, ages and gender of everyone in your stateroom that will be participating in the FE Exchange.

Once I receive your email, I will send out a list of participants. PLEASE check the list to make sure I have your information correct. Some people make personalized things with names on them and I'd hate to spell someone's name wrong and not know it. Or I'd really feel awful if I have your stateroom number wrong and you don't get any FE gifts at all! So, please double check my list when I send it. THANKS!!

This will only be my THIRD FE Exchange. There are always questions such as "Is there a price minimum or maximum?" "Do we give one gift for each stateroom or one gift per person in each stateroom?" "Do we give a gift each night or just one night?"

SO, my answer to all of you is this: It's entirely up to you. If you guys want to set some minimum/maximum amounts, per stateroom or per person gift, that's entirely up to all of you. I think everyone just does what they're comfortable with and everyone is always happy to receive gifts no matter how big or small! (Am I right?) Also, in my opinion, homemade gifts are the best!

One last note: IF we find out that there will NOT be FISHIES outside our stateroom door, I suppose we'll change the name of the "extender exchange" to whatever it is.
Participating in the Fish Extender Exchange is completely optional. Feel free to do or spend whatever you're comfortable with. As for the Fish Extender itself, some people buy them, others want to make theirs, whatever you choose is fine. The same rule applies to the "goodies"! You can buy or make them!

What is a fish extender exchange?

If you're not familiar with what a fish extender exchange is, check out these links:

DIS MEET
DIS Meet - Sailing Day:

Ok starting to get some details on where we can meet onboard. These are the three venues that according to DCL do not have anything planned during boarding: District Lounge or Skyline Lounge or 687 Lounge These all appear to be about as large as the Promenade Lounge was on the Wonder.

Meeting time will be at 3:00 PM so that we can get through everything planned and get to our rooms for the 4:00 Muster Drill.

The Elizabeth Swan & Pirate Game
On the 2008 Member cruise thread Gary (OKWMember) came up with the pirate game where each 100th post got a pirate (pirate:). To add more fun, each 99th post got an Elizabeth Swan (:bride:). This game was played in the 2009 Member Cruise thread and was so much fun. It really got people chatting. When will you get an :bride: or a pirate:?

Every 99th post = 1 ES (:bride:)
Every 499th post = 2 ES
Every 999th post = 3 ES

Every 100th post = 1 Pirate (pirate:)
Every 500th post = 2 Pirates
Every 1000th post = 3 Pirates

We'll have a prize for the DISer with the most pirates and the most swans at the onboard DIS meet.

PORT CAMERAS
Some people like to view the Disney ships leave port. As the time was getting closer to our sail away date last year, some posters in the '09 thread would log on every Sunday to watch the Disney Wonder sail away. So, if anyone is interested in watching the Wonder or Magic sail away, here are the port cameras:

Port Canaveral Webcam (http://www.portcanaveral.com/webcam.htm)
Two Palms Webcam (http://www.twopalms.com/)
Ron Jon Resort Webcam (http://www.ronjonresort.com/beachcam.aspx)

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Passports - do I need one?
Having a passport is ideal. However, a birth certificate with a valid photo ID will be permissible.

From DCL website:
Passport Information

Guests are responsible for obtaining proper documentation to board the ship. U.S. Government passport requirements continue to change; therefore, we strongly encourage Guests of all ages to have a valid U.S. passport for all cruises. Having a passport allows you to always be prepared to travel wherever you wish, and offers an added measure of security when you're traveling.

For air travel, however, the deadline was January 23, 2007. This means that all travelers, including U.S. Citizens and all foreign nationals, traveling to the United States by air, such as Guests flying to Orlando, Florida from Canada, are required to carry a valid passport after the effective date.

From Dept. of Homeland Security website (thanks eroinm (Michael)):
How will the final WHTI requirements affect passengers going on cruises?
U.S. citizens on closed-loop cruises (cruises that begin and end at the same port in the U.S.) will be able to enter or depart the country with proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate and government-issued photo ID. A U.S. citizen under the age of 16 will be able to present either an original or a copy of his or her birth certificate, a Consular Report of Birth Abroad issued by DOS, or a Certificate of Naturalization issued by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

Please be aware that you may still be required to present a passport when you dock at a foreign port, depending on the islands or countries that your cruise ship is visiting. Check with your cruiseline to ensure you have the appropriate documents for the stops you’ll be making on your cruise.

What have other members cruises been like?
The organizers (WDWLVR & MarkRG) of our 2009 members cruise thread developed a website specifically for the cruise. Now, I am not that talented. However, for reference I will list it here. It also has trip reports from 2003, 2005, 2006, & 2007 member cruises as well as tips for cruisers.

2009 Members Cruise website (http://monorailgreen.info/member2009/index.htm)

You may also view information about the 2010 cruise at:

http://www.hutsellhobbies.com/disney/dvcMember (http://www.hutsellhobbies.com/disney/dvcMember)

When can I book excursions, reservations at Palo, and/or register the kids for the kids' clubs?

120 days before the sail date if you are a Platinum Castaway Club Member (sailed with DCL 10 or more times)
105 days before the sail date if you are a Gold Castaway Club Member (sailed with DCL 5 or more times)
90 days before the sail date if you are a Silver Castaway Club Member (sailed with DCL once before)
75 days before the sail date for everyone

When is Pirate Night?

Pirate night on most cruises are the Night of our visit to Castaway Cay, this past year it was on Monday Night.

If there is anything else anyone wants to post on here please let me know. More to come as pictures of the ship finally come out. I will add pictures from the ship sometime in late May as MouseFan64 and I will be sailing on the Dream on May 15th, 2011.

Wow thread #3. How is everyone! Had a great time at my conference. Chilling on the couch right now. Tomorrow will be a busy work day since I am covering my colleague. We went to my nieces 40 birthday party in Cedar Lake, IN yesterday. Drive was not bad even though hubby did go an extra 20 minutes out of his way. I see more people registered on this site. Wonderful, more people to see in Sept.

Hey John.

Thunderstorms are on their way...yes. I heard on the radio today that a horrible windstorm will hit north of I-88, along the IL/WI border. Worst in 70 years I heard. We just brought in all our patio furniture and some of our decorations. Should make for a great commute to work tomorrow.

If Laran ever goes to sleep, I'm gonna go out and put another coat of paint on the shelves I'm building in the garage. Previously I installed nearly 20 feet of shelves down one side. Filled it with stuff, but barely made a dent in the stall I was trying to empty. So now I'm working on 20 feet across the end. I would like to be able to get all the cars inside the garage for the winter, so I don't have to scrape frost and clear snow off of them. For you sun belt people, that's what we get up here when water freezes. ;)

Hi Sue, that's where my Summary of What’s Goin’ On with DISboards Group list should come in handy. I'm pretty sure Mrs. Happycamper is putting in the reservation for us, because they have the earliest reservation request date. I seem to recall that someone else was helping her put the list of names together?

That's why I made the list. I'm starting to have trouble keeping all the "who is doing what" straight. I figure the list will be updated in a couple of days after everyone has had a chance to correct me.

They will probably need the name(s) of all the people you want to add, the room number(s), and DCL reservation number(s). Palo is 18 yrs and over for dinner, not sure about brunch.

They have not announced the event for 2011. I'm guessing 12/9 - 12/11/2011 based on the 2009 and 2010 dates. We will be trying for tickets for the 2011 event.

I finally just got done catching up on thread 1. Have not had time at the rate you are all posting the smiley faces. Ugh. :scared1:

I finish up and jump over to thread 2 to see you are up to page 250 on that thread and have started number 3. Ugh again. :sad1:

No way I will even attempt to go through that one.

Would those people coordinating specific items for the cruise mind sending details to Milford so he can update page 1. That way we can just check there for information specific to the cruise. This would include activities before, during, and after the cruise.

I want to make sure I do not miss anything important.

Milford I hope you do not mind me making that suggestion.
It might be easier if people pm him so he sees it rather than the details getting lost in all the posts.

What do you all think?

The advantage to keeping the information updated on the first post is that as new threads get added the first post is the one piece from the prior threads that gets moved to the new thread. That was my reasoning for getting all the details on the first page.

We didn't know about the event last year, so this is our first Magic & Merriment. What's crazy is you can't purchase the tix until a month before the event, but you have to book your accomodations well beforehand. We got lucky, but it did give us an excuse to visit the mouse, again. :thumbsup2

Hey Disney Parks Bloggers! Today we have some fun news to share with you as we have just unveiled the lineup of entertainment for our newest cruise ship, the Disney Dream (http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/ships-activities/ships/dream/?int_cmp=SOC-intDPFY11Q1showtimedream26-10-10@0001).
Our Guests will delight to some of the most elaborate original musicals presented at sea, over-the-top deck parties and, bursting above it all, the largest fireworks spectacular aboard a cruise ship.
Headlining the musical repertoire is “Disney’s Believe,” an original stage spectacular that combines a heartfelt story with a captivating musical score. Other productions include fan favorite “The Golden Mickeys: A Timeless Tribute,” featuring new musical numbers, and “Villains Tonight!” a fun-filled musical comedy starring Disney’s most famous evil-doers.

In addition to our nightly stage shows, we are re-imagining our popular “Pirates IN the Caribbean” evening with the creation of three distinct deck events:

The evening starts with “Mickey’s Pirates in the Caribbean,” an interactive show featuring Disney characters.
Later, Captain Jack Sparrow unleashes “Club Pirate,” a high-tech, open-air dance party.
Of course, we’re still the only cruise line with fireworks at sea. We’ll take this distinctive Disney offering a step further with “Buccaneer Blast!” A new pyrotechnic spectacular featuring more fireworks than ever before synchronized to a dramatic musical score.

That would be great! On 29th we (all 16 of us) have ADR for Narcoossee at 5:30 and then kids and I may be eating at new Italian place - Via Napoli on 30th. They love eating in Italy and we wanted to try new place. Other than that I am not sure what our plans will be.

The only thing is the kids have no idea that we have this cruise booked. They keep asking but I told them it was not time to book yet. My plan was to surprise them for Christmas. They are going crazy because they had a great time on SSMC09 and can't wait to go on new ship.

So, if we do meet up we can just act like we met on the prior cruise or something. I was going to have a character call them on Christmas morning to do the Welcome Aboard. I saw this on the DCL website. :thumbsup2

Time and place to be determined at a later date.

Good summary
don't forget if anyone would like to Join the SSMC Food and Wine Club Just email me at DVCDreamWineClub@gmail.com

We were thinking about meeting 3 of the 4 nights. (Excluding pirate party night).
Night 1 everyone bring a red wine you like
Night 2 everyone bring a white wine you like
Night 3 mystery night bring what ever you wish! Red, White, Rose, Sparkling, Port

We meet after the late show sit by the Quite Cove pool and share our wines. I am going to get the mini wine cups the have at the food and wine festival in Epcot. We can also bring food. The only thing is we are not allowed to bring perishable food on the ship.

Remember a good wine is not an expensive wine. A good wine is a wine you like.

Wish I had a Halloween trip to Disney planned! I am just having a BLAH week and that sure would make it better! But I guess I'll have to find another way to make my week better. Maybe I'll just go shopping at the Disney Store! :lmao:

Hi Debbie,
We did Mickey's Halloween Party right after this year's cruise, so if the timing works out right you could plan for that next year too. Plus we got 7 hours at MK including Trick-or-Treating for about half the price of normal entry. The cost for the Halloween Party was around $50 each person. We were allowed to enter MK at 4 PM. Guests without Halloween armbands left the park at 7 PM when Trick-or-Treating started. We had the park to ourselves until 1 AM.

Shortly after we got up this morning, she told me, "Happy Birthday." Now she knew it was coming up because I told her a few days ago. I think I heard someone on TV say something about a birthday, so I assume that's what inspired her to say it (on the right day).

This afternoon she MADE me a cake, a gift and a card. Does she actually know this is normal practice? Anyway the "cake" was made of solid wood donuts that stack in wedding cake fashion, with a plastic tube vertically on top for a candle. The "gift" was a castle she made out of building blocks and the "card" was a playing card with stickers off of her potty training chart. Still very impressive to come up with this on her own.

This evening she took me to the best thin-crust pizza place in Indiana, Arni's. I got a free birthday pizza and she got the kids pizza, fruit bowl and free icecream. I had the waitress take a picture of us to email to DW. I'll add a picture of the birthday gifts she made.

Good Morning everyone!

I Just wanted to pop in and see if all of our cruisin' friends in the midwest are doing okay after what I have seen on the television reports! Please let us know that you are safe and well!

Here in Jersey, we're slated to have some of that same storm come through today but not as severe. Taking our visiting British friends to shop in Lancaster, PA today for all of the outlet shops - I'm afraid we'll be running in and out of the stores today in the rain!

Everyone stay safe out there!! :)

Evidently I slept right through it. You probably saw Caitlyn (CaydennsMommy) said they had Tornado Sirens up north, my MIL said they had same in southern IN, then my wife told me she heard they took cover here at her work, too. We only live a few miles from there, so I guess we should have too, but I never heard the sirens.

Interesting, while your friends visiting from England, my DW Lara is in England. Try to stay dry and enjoy shopping.

Looks like there were 7 tornados yesterday in Indiana, all but one were in north central Indiana, not too far from Caitlyn, but we know they are okay. Milford/Shawn and I are in central Indiana and Debbie/Junior are in NW Indiana, so hopefully all are fine. We also had straight line winds up to 100 mph around the state.

Hi Debbie,
We did Mickey's Halloween Party right after this year's cruise, so if the timing works out right you could plan for that next year too.

We did MNSSHP a few years ago (just DH & I). This year after the members cruise, we flew out on Saturday. I was kind of bummed because the MNSSHP was on Saturday night, so we missed it. But next year we're staying till Sunday.

Thank you all so much!!! :cloud9:

We're fine here in NW Indiana. Tornado WARNINGS came out right when we were waiting for the bus to pick up the kids for school. Then I drove to work praying that I didn't drive into a tornado!! :scared1: They called off the tornado warnings fifteen minutes early (originally they were till 9:00 am and they canceled them at 8:45 am) Hopefully the wind dies down today!!

From the AP:

A blizzard warning was in effect Wednesday for North Dakota, where up to 10 inches was expected in some areas. Lighter snow was expected in Wisconsin, Minnesota and South Dakota.
The unusual system mesmerized meteorologists because of its size and because it had barometric pressure that was similar to a Category 3 hurricane, but with much less destructive power.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said the system's pressure reading Tuesday was among the lowest ever in a non-tropical storm in the mainland U.S. Spokeswoman Susan Buchanan said the storm was within the top five in terms of low pressure, which brings greater winds.
The fast-moving storm blew in from the Pacific Northwest on the strength of a jet stream that is about one-third stronger than normal for this time of year, said David Imy, operations chief at the NOAA's Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Okla. As the system moved into the nation's heartland, it drew in warm air needed to fuel thunderstorms. Then the winds intensified and tornadoes formed.
By Tuesday morning, sustained winds were about 35 to 40 mph and gusting much higher. A gust of 81 mph was recorded in Butlerville, Ohio, and 80 mph in Greenfield, Ind., according to NOAA.

Looks like winter is about to arrive here in the midwest!

Hello Everyone!

Believe it or not it is 76 degrees right now where I am in Southern NJ and we are under a tornado watch until 8pm.

When I saw that alert on my phone I was like :scared1:. Are you kidding me?

Checked radar online and it looked like the Happy Campers were getting hit at the time with a pretty big storm in their area. Hopefully it has passed at this point for them. I am just keeping an eye out here. DS gets off bus in about 45 minutes which is when it looks like we may get hit here.

Right now the temp is great and windows are open.

Looks like we will be in 50s by Friday.
