I am soo excited  ....the 12th Feb is our wedding anniversary - we got married on Grand Cayman off a Western Disney cruise in 2008 (though not married through Disney - something we organised ourselves). So definitely a romantic celebration for us on the 12th Feb.

.......not to mention Valentine's Day of course !!:love::love:

Just had our cabin requests confirmed...I was thinking of booking a suite for a surprise for DH... but have talked myself out of it, mainly because of the fact the kids will still end up on a sofa/bunk bed ..... DS really found the couch bed uncomfortable last cruise, and he's only a slightly built 13yr old at that.
Plus, too many uncertainties about the suite cabins/balconies on the Dream..and not enough benefits, since we will be gold CC members by then.

So two cabins for us; a cat 4B, and two strides away, a cat 11A (what a shame the beds can no longer be made into twins) both on deck 8... at almost half the cost of the cat T suite.

...and incidently this almost doubled our OBCs for this cruise, over the suite OBCs.

We are lucky enough to pick up one of the few insides on the upper decks and near the AFT which is where we generally like to be on the ship.

Our cabins are
# 8142
# 8141

...sorry to be sat here, talking to myself ! ...but hopefully, some of you others will be along soon .......:goodvibes

Yes we are very excited to head to Disneyland in just over a week. Headed to Cali for a wedding and decided to add on those Disney days since we missed our annual Disney trip last year. We are hoping a studio comes through at the Grand Californian but it isn't looking too good, we do have a reservation at the Disneyland Hotel though.

I am also on information overload...there is so much to learn! I have a friend going on the Dream in 2 weeks and I can't wait to hear all about her trip!

I did just order a 9" Vinylmation for signatures while on our cruise next year. The DisneyStore.com had them for 14.99 and I have seen several on these boards that have been signed and thought it would be a great idea!

We're confirmed for this cruise, so it's time to start the DISboard thing! We have done 3 previous Valentines cruises on the Magic (one debarked the 14th, so it barely counts), but this year we switched things up. We just returned from the 11 day "Magic in the Med", which was just amazing. Told the kids about the Dream plans just before debarking - priceless!

We are Colleen, DH David, DS Kieran (one month shy of 15 on cruise), DD Jenna (one month shy of 12), and introducing DMIL Vicki to her first cruise!

Some mixed emotions about sailing on the Dream... excitement of course, but we've grown attached to the Magic, and know so many of the crew quite well, it will be strange to be away! Also our first short cruise - we'll have to tack on time in Orlando obviously, just to justify the airfare from Ottawa!

We started the Med cruise with a DISboard 'meet' in one of the lounges - as the sailing date approaches, how about let's plan one for this cruise?

So, we have sailed with you twice before including the ill fated "6 day Western" and in 2008 when we got married on Grand Cayman !...we've also done a Valentine cruise , but on the Wonder 2006. :goodvibes
My DS is 14 (almost 15 on the cruise) - I wonder if they will know each other by now !?

Coincidentally, we are doing the 10 night Med in 5 weeks too...

I'm surprising my kids and DH ....as what they won't know (hopefully) until they get off...is that we are getting right back on for another 3 days .......4 days is way too short, and we want to explore the new ship

Yes we should try to meet up first day....that is always a fun experience.

Hi All! I will be joining you solo on this cruise. I am actually booked on the 5/27/12 5-night Dream that I am treating my parents to for their 30th anniversary, but if I squeezed in 1 more cruise before that, I would be Castaway Gold level for the May cruise, so I couldnt pass up the opportunity to squeeze one in. I usually have a verandah stateroom and will continue to make that my norm, but wanted to squeeze in the cheapest cruise possible so I'm in an inside room this time. I'm looking forward to a change though and think the virtual porthole will be cool. I got such a great deal booking the inside room onboard and with discount and OBC, and I'll have a free plane ticket with my miles/points, the price for the whole thing was just too good to pass up!

I am actually looking forward to going alone as well. I want to really take the time to enjoy the ship and all the activities instead of focusing on what everyone else wants to do when you travel with companions. Looking forward to meeting everyone though and love any DIS activities like the cruise meet and the Fish Extenders!

Wow.....I can't believe we will be sailing again so quickly - we used to make one cruise every 2 years, but suddenly I have done 3 cruises (and a total of 24 days - which should have been 25, if the Magic had not got stuck on CC in Feb. 2010) in 18 months !! School starts this week and looking forward to having more time to get things done!!! Was wondering when and how do we start to organize our FE stuff? I am anxious to get started!
From my experience doing the FEs, someone in our Cruise Meet volunteers to maintain a tracking spreadsheet of those who want to participate, and we collectively decide on a cut-off date for new signups, trying to choose a date that is late enough to allow late newcomers the chance to join, but not too late that it doesnt give people time to plan to buy or make their gifts. I would recommend closing out around 2 months or so prior to sailing.

Just off our first Disney cruise in July and we had to do it again. Funny, I didn't realize it was the "Love boat" until I started reading the posts. Unfortunately, there will be no romantic Valentines dinner at Remy since that is CC day and pirate night... and I will be dressed like Capt. Barbossa!!! pirate:

I have read that the weather in February is very hit-or-miss. Anyone have any past Feb. Bahamian cruse experience?

I look forwarding to chatting with you all as we get closer to Feb 12th.

Hey El Cid. " I have read that the weather in February is very hit-or-miss. Anyone have any past Feb. Bahamian cruse experience?"
This will be 3rd cruise in feb. on a 7 day we had 1 overcast day. On the last one(11 day) the weather was gorgeous. The water was choppy coming across the area where the ocean currents meet the car. currents. The bigger the ship is the less it affects us do good thing we will be on one of the largest ships:)

Hello!
I wouldn't say I am a seasoned, but I am glad to organize the FE group. I have participated in 1 (last Jan/Feb). It was fun for the kids and I want them to experience it again. The Holidays are fast approaching and the cruise will be here before we know it, so we should get this started! Here it goes...

Please respond if you are interested by listing your:

passengers in your room and the ages of the children
Room #
Allergies or other important info.
Special celebrations while onboard (ex:birthday)

I will try to keep this up to date and closer to the time I will title it "FINALIZED". The cut off for joiners will be January 6th. There needs to be a cut off, because gifts are made, ordered, etc. There are several threads on here regarding ideas and what exactly a FE is for those of you wondering. It is kind of like a secret santa gift exchange.

Moffboyz2- 2 adults, DS 11 and DS 6. Room# 10548. Several severe allergies: all nuts, milk and egg.

Now who wants to be in charge of the meet and greet??? (not me :))

...Just done my activities, but the on line check in doesn't appeared to have opened up ...unless I'm doing something badly wrong ?! :confused3

...a bit gutted there are no family cabanas left on CC :sad1:...if anyone who already has one, wants to share the cost... or decides to give one up please, please, could you PM me ??:worship: ....it was the one thing I really wanted to try this trip.

Incidentally, for anyone else interested, there are still cabanas at Serenity Bay - but we would much prefer CC to be family time (though I very much doubt that DS14 will want to join us this time !).

We did the FE for the first time on our Magic Med cruise in May/June and loved it so we are definitely on for this one!

We are 3 adults (myself, DH and wonderful mother-in-law), DS 14 and DD 11. We are in cabin 8668 and have no allergies.

This is my mother-in-law's first cruise but the fifth Disney cruise for the rest of us. We have always gone on longer cruises, but were dying to experience the Dream so we are preparing for 4 whirlwind days!!!

We are doing AKL for 4 nights after the cruise, but flying in just on the Fri. evening before. Getting nervous about that because in past we've always come in several days before. We're coming from Ottawa, Canada so the weather can present all sorts of surprises!!

We're all getting very excited! :yay:

We can't make any reservations until the 29th, since this our first cruise. I saw in an earlier post that cabanas were still available. Can anyoen check the status as of now? Or would anyone be interested in sharing one? It's just DH and I (DD is staying home for this trip), and we are fine with the family or adult cabana.

Thank you,

Hi Everyone-

Looks like we (me (44), DH (54), Mom(64) and Step-Dad(69)) will be joining you for our "Adults Only" Disney Dream Cruise. This will be our second adults only Disney cruise with my parents. We were originally scheduled to do this Dream Cruise November 6-10th but my Dad developed a subdural hematoma and we had to cancel at the last minute. He has now had surgery and is recovering and I am so sure he is going to be just fine that I booked this one!

So we've paid our final payment and are looking forward to booking our Palo ressie's tonight. I'm a little concerned about the temps though. I know several people on this cruise have been on previous Disney cruises during this week in the past and have not had problems but I wonder if anyone did cruises this short and limited to these latitudes (i.e. only as far South as the Bahamas). I am afraid that Castaway Cay is going to be chilly if not downright cold. Please reassure me.

One more request for Judy since I know she is Gold and we are just Silver (though this cruise will make us gold - yea :cool1:).... Can you (or anyone else) tell me if there are still Palo brunch ressies available?

Thanks Everyone. We are so happy to be able to join you!

Hi Michelle!! This cruise will make me Gold as well, how exciting! Looking forward to sporting the gold lanyard on my May cruise with my parents.

I have been on 3 January cruises, and 1 March cruise. The first January cruise was a 4 night Bahamian on the Wonder and it was pretty good, about mid 70s in Nassau and a bit overcast, but still comfortable enough to fully enjoy the slides and pools at Atlantis, and Castaway was even sunnier and warmer. The water was cold but that is to be expected that time of year, but it didnt bother us because coming from NJ, CC's January water temp is about as warm as our summer ocean temps get, so we're used to it. The second January cruise was an Eastern carib so the temps were warmer further south but even CC was still sunny and warm. March Bahamian cruise was also comfortable in the 80s. Sadly on my panama canal cruise this past January, we were unable to dock at CC at all due to the winds. It was a bummer but we can't complain given that the weather for the rest of the 15 night cruise was downright fantastic. So in summary I share your worry about how February temps can be hit or miss, but I'm just trying to keep my fingers crossed and hope for some pixie dust to be nice!

Happy to report that I logged on at midnight and was able to get both Palo reservations I wanted, lots dinner times available and a few brunch slots also, so I got one of each. For those interested in cabanas, they were all sold out on both family beach and serenity bay. If anyone wants me to check on anything else, please let me know. I did have trouble with the online checkin- it said it was available starting today, same as the cruise activities, but when I clicked for that page, nothing really came up, except for a video about how it worked and an option to download special forms...not sure if it was a technical glitch that I should just try again tomorrow or if anyone else was able to checkin?

My Husband and I booked our first Disney cruise together this weekend.

I made him stay up until midnight last night to book our reservation at Remy :woohoo:

Looks like we will be joining everyone on the 12th!!!

This will be his first time cruising and my second Disney Cruise. The first was a 7 night Western Caribbean aboard the Magic back in 2007.
Can't wait! I did the Disboards meet up thing last time and it was so nice knowing the people at your table ahead of time.

I downloaded an app for my Android phone called "Ship Mate" Specifically for this cruise. It is pretty fun. For when you can't remember what is on deck 13 and have to know right away!

Well.... Only 90 more days!!!!!

WDW Princess. This will be our first cruise also, so this is probably a dumb question, but when you speak about the cabanas, I'm assuming those are at Castaway Cay? And are there any other beaches with cabanas or is it just those two? We aren't planning on doing any excursions in Nassau and I know we can't call until the 29th to make any sort of reservations for anything, so just wondering if there will be any reason to call.

We aren't looking for ressies at Palo or Remy's. We are planning on getting bikes and snorkeling equipment and such at Castaway Cay. Is that something that can be reserved ahead of time? Any worries on them running out?

And I apologize if this is has been discussed. I have been working like a crazy person at one of my jobs, opened my own business and had my purse stolen, all within the last month, so I just haven't had much time to think about the cruise yet, but I know there is a night where we dress like pirates. Someone mentioned that there is a night when you get really dressed up, in dresses and suits. Is that the case with a Disney Cruise? Just wondering how to pack. I'm taking a youth group to Walt Disney World the week before the cruise, so all my free time is focused on that right now, trying to collect all their ticket money and such.

So excited about this cruise! I toured the Dream in August and it was amazing!

WDW Princess. This will be our first cruise also, so this is probably a dumb question, but when you speak about the cabanas, I'm assuming those are at Castaway Cay? yes And are there any other beaches with cabanas or is it just those two? I'm not sure of any beaches in Nassau with cabanas. These cabanas at CC are a few hundred dollars each and include amenities like wait service, snacks/drinks (even though lunch & sodas are free for everyone on CC like on the ship), and maybe some other amenities. Not sure if something like this would exist in Nassau, maybe at a hotel where you could go for the day. I'm staying onboard in Nassau this cruise but when I go in May we are doing Atlantis for the day which I've done twice before, they don't have serviced cabanas but they do have lots of pools, slides, open and covered chairs poolside and on the beach, etc for use.

Yes you can reserve bikes and snorkel equipment in advance but I don't think you'll have a problem with them running out. I know I've rented the snorkel equipment same-day before.

And I apologize if this is has been discussed. I have been working like a crazy person at one of my jobs, opened my own business and had my purse stolen, all within the last month, so I just haven't had much time to think about the cruise yet, but I know there is a night where we dress like pirates. Yes as of now Pirate Night is Night 3, although that is subject to change but usually it is Night 3. It is fun dressing up! Someone mentioned that there is a night when you get really dressed up, in dresses and suits. Is that the case with a Disney Cruise? Not on this cruise. Short 3/4/5 night cruises dont have a formal night, they have a semi formal night where you are more than welcome to still dress up with suits/dresses, but its not required or as common as how many people dress up on the formal nights for 7 night or longer cruises.Just wondering how to pack. I'm taking a youth group to Walt Disney World the week before the cruise, so all my free time is focused on that right now, trying to collect all their ticket money and such.

Thanks! That is super helpful!

Okay, so I went through and read the thread and you are all talking about FE, like Secret Santa. Can someone get me a link so I can read more about it, what people typically give on cruises, etc? It sounds like a blast, but I'm just not sure if I'll be able to participate since I will be at WDW for 7 days prior to getting on the cruise. My life is a little calmer for the moment as I am the show coordinator for Christian Youth Theater-Houston and we just completed a show and have now started rehearsals for Fiddler on the Roof. Right now, it's a calmer time, so this is when I need to be planning stuff for February. The show is in January and things will get crazy again after the holidays.

We have started packing. I have the pillowcases for autographs, washed and in a baggie.

Here is another question. I know at Walt Disney World, you can get discounts at shops and such with an annual pass and some do discounts for DVC members. Do either of those get discounts at the gift shop on the Dream?

I saw something about an "FE" in the previous posts... When I did the Christmas time cruise we did something along the lines of this with stocking stuffers.

Could I get the details of what an FE entails? It sounds fun!

Was anyone thinking about linking dining reservations? We are doing Remy the first night, but I hate the idea of sitting by strangers the other 3 nights. Would rather have the company of other Disney Fanatics :-) We are 2nd sitting.

This is my first time doing a short cruise and I am scared I wont get to have dinner at all the restaurants. Any experienced cruisers have an idea of what the rotation will be? I would hate to miss any of the new restaurants on the Dream! Does anyone know if they still do a character breakfast on the Dream?

Hoping to see Duffy Bear aboard the ship!!! Can you tell I'm excited :cheer2:

So the details for the FE:

Passengers: Emi (25) and my husband James (32)

No Allergies

Our room number is #10026

Second dinner seating

On the past cruise I made a door sign and left little gifts/candy at the doors.
Since it is "The Love Boat" it would be fun to do Valentines and small treats.

It will be great once we get a final count on the number of Dis-ers involved. I have a few ideas but the next few months are so busy, I'm not sure how many extra crafts I can handle!
The other cruise I did ended up with almost EIGHTY people in the group. EIGHTY!!!!
If anyone was interested in doing a linked dining reservation for the second seating just let me know. Although, I have to confess we are buying a Duffy Bear specifically to take pictures with on our Disney trips. So if you don't mind people taking pictures of their food! Hoping to sneak him into Remy...

A big "hello" and welcome to everyone who has joined the chat board recently. I know that this is going to be a terrific group and a great cruise.

I'm not sure if our group will do the FE yet but I can tell you from past experience, it is a blast! If you have never done it and/or if you have kids, it is brilliant! Really....whoever thought this up...

Went on line at exactly midnight and got both Palo brunch ressies for the "at Sea" day as well as dinner ressies for Valentine's night...OMG! Truly I feel blessed! I never thought we'd get the Palo ressie's on Valentine's :woohoo:

Since you all are throwing out ideas & meets, etc. Has anyone thought about or mentioned doing a champagne girls meet? There is a special champagne bar on the Dream called "Pink" and often, the girls do a cocktail there at a designated day/time -- often before or after a dinner seating although we could do one during the "At Sea" day. Anyone interested?? I can't imagine a more terrific memory than sipping champagne on the Dream with a bunch of new friends. If anyone is interested, let me know and I will do the organizing.

Hoping that we get enough people who want to do the FE. I did it on the Christmas cruise I took and had so much fun. For that one, stockings were hung up... What do people typically hang up to put the little gifts in?

I'm thinking of sewing some kind of pouch to hang down that is Valentines themed.
Changed the Remy reservation to Valentines day since I remember Pirate night having the worst food. My husband and I are both huge foodies and Ratalouille fans so we are beyond excited.

I suppose I could find a way to stop by for a glass of champagne in Pink :rolleyes1.
I blew our vacation budget on the cruise and Remy so the bottles of wine, Malibu and Captain Morgan's I smuggle on the ship should have to do the trick!

It's pretty great that Disney is about the only cruiseline out there that doesn't mind bringing alcohol aboard.
I prefer to think I am smuggling it on...It gets me in the mood for pirate night!!!

This happened to me also when I logged on at midnight at my 90 day mark to make my reservations, but it wouldnt allow the checkin. I went back in the following morning at work and it allowed me, so I guess it just needs a few hours to "catch up".

How fun that so many of us will be boarding together!!! Doesn't anyone know if the Aquaduck would be open as soon as we board!? That's what Ryan wants to do more than anything. I know the rooms aren't typically ready at that time. I didn't have my camera with me when I toured the ship in August during the travel agent training, so I'm hoping to run around and get some great shots before lots of people are in them!!!

We were about the 4th or 5th family to board in July. We went straight to the restrooms between the pools and cabanas and changed into our swim suits. My boys rode the Aquaduck about 10 times in a row (I rode it 3 times:thumbsup2). I hope it is warm enough in February!! I wonder if the water is heated?

I've been MIA from this board for a while. The past 60 days have been a roller coaster in our lives. On Sept 30, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Numerous doctor appointments and surgery have since followed. I am waiting to start radiation treatments which should be all done before Feb. 12.

Anyways, we are very much looking forward to this cruise with the entire family. There are 12 of us, all on the Deck 8. The main reason for our cruise is my mom's 65th birthday. We also will be celebrating my daughter's 9th birthday (real bday is Feb. 10), my nephew's 3rd bday (real bday is Feb. 6) and then my brother in law's bday is on Feb. 14.

I also had a request for the FE's- can I get your last names? I am working on my gifts and they are personalized with last names. Thanks.

OK, so we are 1st time cruisers :yay: and have signed up to be part of FE. I have been reading several posts about FE but I am confused as to how many and how often the gifts are given. :confused3

I understand that it is like a "secret santa" but do we give a FE gift to everyone-everyday or do we give one gift to each participant on any given day or is it more organized than that with a list of who gives to who each day?

Our countdown of days is getting smaller gang!! :cheer2::cheer2:

You can always give as many gifts and as many times as you want (I don't think anyone would complain if you gifted them every day of the cruise!) but for the most part what is done is that you give one gift per stateroom. When I have organized FE's I have setup assigned days to deliver because I find this works best especially on the shorter cruises, to ensure that everyone gets some gifts each day, rather than risking getting all of them on 1 or 2 of the days and then nothing the rest of the time which is boring. Your gift per stateroom can be just one thing for the whole party in that room or some people put 1 item for each person in the room, or make up a gift baggie of a few things for the room to share. Totally up to you, just like some people make FE gifts and others buy them. Does this help?

I am flying in the morning before and staying 1 night at Port Orleans Riverside, planning on lounging by the pool if the weather is nice or Downtown Disney if its not, then having a nice dinner at my favorite California Grill so I can look at MK and view the fireworks. *** DIS DCL FAQ - New Alphabetical Listing of DCL Information ***

Boxes Sent the Ship Ahead of Cruise - PLEASE follow these instructions carefully!!!!!! UPDATED AS OF 2/25/2009
• ONE box per stateroom, no exceptions.
• The package must have the guest full name, ship, sailing date, stateroom number or GTY if you have not been assigned a stateroom number.
• The package also must have a packing slip attached to the outside of the box that details the contents of the package. For prescriptions, a copy of the prescription is sufficient. Your list may or may not be read but it must have one. Write packing slip on the outside of the envelope.
• NO FOODS/DRINKS OF ANY KIND, LIQUOR OF ANY KIND, FIREARMS, ETC.. Items that cannot be shipped to the Disney Cruise Line Warehouse and delivered to the ship include: food products (any and all food products including baby food/formula), beverages (liquor, water, etc.), chemicals, and luggage. These items will not be accepted at the warehouse and will be returned. This may cause the dogs to hit on your box and that would be a bad thing.
• The required size of the cartons you are shipping down have to be about the size of a record storage box 12 inches on a side and should not weigh more than 20 lbs. (This has been asked personally by Dave Adams who is the owner)

Address your package(s) to:
Disney Cruise Line Warehouse
Guest Name / Stateroom # (GTY, if you don't know what it is when you send the package)
8633 Transport Drive
Orlando, FL 32832
Phone: 407-566-8196

In the bottom left corner of the top of the package put the following information: ATTN: HOUSEKEEPING
*Name
*Sail Date
*Ship
*Stateroom Number
*Packing slip that details contents of the package (for prescriptions, a copy of the prescription is sufficient)
• Packages must arrive by Friday by 3:00pm for the 7-Night Cruise on the Disney Magic (Saturday).
• Packages must arrive by Friday by 3:00pm for the 4-Night Cruise on the Disney Wonder (Sunday).
• Packages must arrive by Wednesday by 3:00pm for the 3-Night Cruise on the Disney Wonder (Thursday).

If your box is hit on by the screening dog or chosen for additional screening they will open the list and the box and look through it. They will close it back up and provided nothing bad is in it then it will be in your room as usual later after boarding. These boxes will be coming on the ship with the crew mail among other things so they may be in the staterooms later then they were before as they are low priority in the scheme of things for Disney.

If you DO NOT want to concern yourself with the carrying of ''stuff'' home that you have purchase or too much to take on the plane, you can take it over to their place of business or they will be more than glad to pick it up from Cocoa Beach, Cape Canaveral and they will ship anywhere and everywhere. They are UPS and FEDEX office. Owners are Raul and Dwane - super nice folks to work with and very accomodating to your shipping needs. Must mention this board for discount.

That's great we have DD's the same age!!! We should come up with a time and place to meet up after boarding. Where do you suggest?? One of my daughter's closest friends she met on our last cruise....they still text and facebook each other.

If you want PM me and we can set up a meet for the girls :goodvibes

I think I was supposed to be organising the (first day) on board meet :guilty:, but this is our first time on the Dream, and I haven't a clue about where would be a good spot on this particular ship...any suggestions ???...is there an equivalent to the Promanade Lounge ?- indoors would be best given Port Canaveral weather can sometimes be a bit 'iffy' in Feb., from past experience.

Most meets I have attended have been 15 mins or so after the life boat drill, and before the sail away party (so roughly 20 -25 mins).

Looking at the deck plans it seems as if the Bon Voyage Lounge or the D Lounge would be like the Promanade Lounge......I think:confused3 LOL! Bon Voyage seems too close to Guest Services :scared1: and I think they do reservations and dining changes in the D Lounge on boarding day.........maybe the movie theatre. On our last cruise it was open and deserted....I think that night they were doing the shopping lecture, but it should be vacant until then. Just a thought for an out of the way spot that's indoors.

Hi there! I am getting so excited about our first cruise. We have signed up to be part of the FE exchange. Is there going to be a final list posted so that we know names, numbers, etc. Also, is there going to be a FE meet?

The Vista Café might be good.

Or, I am not sure if it is open to the general public or not, but a neat place may be the "Outlook" which is above "The Edge" at the forward smokestack. I think it is basically a reception room, I don't know if it has to be reserved or not (or if it can be reserved or not.) They may have some kind of function when we set sail.

Just a couple of sugestions... :thumbsup2

Nothing like waiting until the 11th hour...

After doing some research, it looks like we won't/can't actually have a "fish extender" due to the concierge gates on 12. I was told that our "surprises" could be dropped off in the concierge lounge with the staff. Seems like a big pain in the butt for others to have to go through in order to drop something off, so it won't hurt our feelings if we are bumped from anyone's list!

This will be our first time to participate in the exchange and we think it will be a lot of fun!

If it helps, you are welcome to "borrow" on of our cabin doors for your fish extender since we have 2 cabins - they are both on deck 8 (and close together so easy for others to drop off).....so not too far to commute IF you think it could work for you ? ?

Let me know.

Also wondering if we are going to split the list into two lists ....or stay with one big one ??

Having first conferred with our FE organiser, I hope people won't mind if we do split the FE list as for those of us with limited baggage allowance (and budgets !) the list is becoming a bit impractical at 17.....this is, after all, the normal practice under such circumstances, from my experience. Plus, on a short cruise , if you are going to find the FE giving very time consuming, given such a long list !

However, I am aware that some of you may well have already spent time and trouble making some personalised gifts for each of us.... so in order to accommodate those people, if you make yourselves known on here, or in a PM to me I will mark all those people with a ' * ' so it is known they are giving to everyone and should therefore be considered for reciprocal gifts by everyone...if that makes sense ? :confused3

Will take a look at the list tonight and try and establish a good way to split it.. if that's OK by you all. :confused3

Right, I have split the groups into 2 groups, based roughly on the kids' ages (ie younger age groups together / teens together) and then placed those doing gifts for all on both lists. Also put them in cabin order just to help with FE distribution (from past experience this will make it easier and quicker) ;

Please let me know if there are any omissions or errors ...or anyone else doing gifts for both groups.
This list is also on the very first page of this thread to make it easy to find.

I know I am!! I am so excited to be on a totally new ship and discover it. This is my "preview cruise" for my 5 night on the Dream in May, that I am taking my parents on for their anniversary. I want everything to be just perfect when I take them so I booked this trip to get the lay of the land, familiarize myself with the different spaces, likes/dislikes so I have everything in mind when I take them. I am not even getting off in Nassau so other than CC day I plan on soaking up every minute on board the ship!!! So ready to leave now!

No but looking at the Med for 2013, possibly the 12 night to Venice ...even though there is so much repetition from 2011 ...that said, very disappointed with what came out today........I get the sinking feeling that Disney have not read the market on this one yet again (as per previous years), and there will be changes and discounts again nearer to the end of the year.:sad2:....they'd better get their finger out and start marketing in Europe properly ...even now most people in the UK have no idea about DCL...and yet WDW is soooooo popular here !

I am trying to convince my hubby to book a 7 day Eastern Caribbean on the Fantasy in October 2013... still working on him but hoping after a day on board, he won't resist!

Anybody watch TLC's Cake Boss last night? It was about them renewing their vows on the Dream. They also made a huge replica Dream cake. It was pretty neat and just gets us more excited!!!

I'm also looking to book the 12 night med but the one that goes to Greece. I had mixed feelings about was revealed today. I was more than happy with the Med option because it was exactly what I was hoping for, a long cruise with at least 2 countries I haven't been to, and this one has 3 i haven't been to (Spain, Turkey, Greece). Plus, it falls over my birthday which is an added bonus. However, I was also hoping that DCL was going to do either Bermuda cruises or different Carib ports or longer cruises to Southern Carib or even South America, but none of those came up. I would have booked at least one of those in addition to the Med one I'm planning to book, but oh well. I'm just hoping that when we get on board in a couple weeks I can rebook the med I'm booking this week and still get a cheaper rate, since I don't have a dummy cruise to use for it right now : (

I was also disappointed about the sailings for 2013. I was hoping for southern caribbean since the wonder will be in Miami and maybe a northern capitals cruise departing from the UK like they had a few years back.....selfish cause I really wanted to go on that one and missed out :sad2:

We did the Med last may/June and loved it! We are also interested in the Greece sailings for 2013. The best part is that we'd be GOLD Castaway Club by then! Hoping for good on board savings.......

Possibly. I definitely want to book a 7-night (because I'm pretty sure 4 nights is NOT going to be long enough), but I can't decide if I want the Fantasy or the Magic (and I really want to see the Magic's shows).

I have some info I got about our cruise tonight that I thought others might be interested in - "Hi, my name is Michelle and I am an obsessive Disney planner." :rotfl:

So here it is in no particular order:

The agent told me that ALL cruisers will have a rotation in which the 3rd and 4th night are the same -- which fits with what many have posted before me.
We were hoping for the duplicate restaurant to fall on the 3rd night since we have Remy reservations for Feb 14th (Valentine's Day ...Awww!) and this way, we will get to experience all three restaurants plus Remy's. Sounds perfect to me :yay:

I asked about the Movies playing on our cruise and was told the following would be showing -
War Horse
Real Steel
Cars 2
Muppets
The Help
POC - OST

She thought that the new Beauty and the Beast 3D movie would be off by then :(

Finally, I asked her about booking the Wonder and the Magic new itinieraries and she said you MUST CALL tomorrow and cannot book online - starting at 8 am EST.

Hope this helps others....just trying to spread pixie dust :goodvibes

gichicdoc -- Thanks so much for posting the info! I've been lurking but decided to come out of the woodwork because I really am getting super excited about the upcoming cruise! There are a few movies we haven't seen and it's perfect that I can bring my kids while on board.

I'm a newbie and I'm still learning from all the DCL enthusiasts here on the board. I just hope we can take experience as much as we can on our rookie cruise, and possibly sign up for a our 2nd one onboard!

Not sure what the weather is like in the area right now, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we'll be able to experience some decent weather on CC! I plan to run the 5K and the kids cannot wait to make a huge splash on the beautiful beach.

I have never used Sea Bands but I am prone to motion sickness and on my first cruise used nothing and suffered for it. The cruise was still great but I always had that queasy feeling. I since researched it and heard about Bonine, which is a non-drowsy version of Dramamine, and take that twice a day every day of the cruise, and I am absolutely fine. I still feel the ship movement but it doesnt make me sick, but I can tell I would be sick if I hadn't taken the bonine. It is available at CVS and has a generic version which is even cheaper and works just as well, won't cruise without it now!

We have spent 33 nights onboard the Disney Magic (and are "going for gold" with our first short cruise!) and one of the best hints we were ever given is to bring an over-the-door shoe holder to put on one of your bathroom doors to store all the bits and pieces that can be hard to find otherwise. We use ours to store sunscreen, hair brushes, cameras, toys etc. We also bring suction hooks to put on the mirror where we hang our lanyards that have our Key to the World cards (they give you the lanyards when boarding once you are a Castaway Club member, ie. have cruised before with Disney, but you can buy them on board as well). I have also made it a habit to bring a plastic folder (like the kind you can get at Micheals for scrapbooking) and put all our Navigators and other souvenir items in it. It keeps them all together, you don't lose anything and it keeps your stateroom neat!
Hope this helps!!!

Mental note for shopping:
1. over-the-door shoe holder
2. plastic folder
3. suction hooks
4. bonine
5. photo mattes

This is our first cruise, so I don't know about the bands for sea sickness, but I used them extensively when I was pregnant with my second and they really seemed to help.

Getting so excited about our first cruise! Will be at WDW for 1 week with a youth group I planned and then our family will board the Dream! So very excited! Been crazy busy with work and now it has all calmed down! Just need to finish up the shirts for the youth group and then finish packing!

I checked the the DCL faq thread on the main page but it only has the door dimensions, not the circle on the door. However I bet if you ask this question on the main cruise forum someone is likely to know the answer!

Does anyone know if people dress up on the optional dress-up night on this cruise? Having only taken longer cruises before, we've got in the habit of having family pics taken on the formal night. I don't want to subject my family to dressing up (usually shirts and ties and nicer dresses) if we'll be out of place, but I do want that picture!!!!! :confused3

We don't dress formally but I wear a nice blouse and slacks and my DH wears slacks a dress shirt and tie....nothing fancy. On our last cruise the family at the table next to us wore track suits to dinner every night....didn't bother us! :thumbsup2 I guess whatever makes your family comfortable:goodvibes

I can't believe we are sooooooo close now!!!!!! What is it, like 12 days after today!

I wonder if the new movie Journey 2 Mysterious Island will be playing......I think it's a Disney Affiliate movie. That would be cool :thumbsup2

The shorter cruises are a lot less formal than the longer ones, in my experience. Many people don't dress up at all but many do also, just not to the nines as they would on a real formal night on a longer cruise. I would not worry about being out of place- even on the most formal nights on extended cruises there will still be people in tshirts and jeans, so its never across the board. If you really want the nice picture I say go for it and dress up- I'm goingo on a 5 night in May with my parents which also does not have a formal night but we are dressing up very formal (suit and gowns) for our Remy night because we want formal pictures together and we wont be bothered that no one else will be dressed up, the picture is more important than us standing out.
