Yes, it is WAY early, but someone has to get this going.
We are booked on this inaugural Fantasy Eastern Cruise.
If anyone wants to let the kids get started through email, that would be a good way for them to keep up on our trip!
Im sure we will book a kids suite at the Country Inn and Suites the day before the cruise.

We used Costco once for a Disney Cruise but we did not have a suite so any requests that we had we had to call Costco and they would call DCL. Have you used Costco for a suite before and can you still contact DCL concierge on your own or did you have to call Costco?? If we can contact them directly then I will rebook onboard for OBC and then transfer to Costco for cash card:thumbsup2

The only thing we need to call Costco for would be something like changing rooms or dining time.
As far as the concierge booking, I can contact them directly 120 days prior to cruise.
If you book onboard, Costco will not transfer your reservation to them. They used to but after DCL changed the way they handle transferred reservations a couple years ago it changed.
I figure with the cash card thats way over the OBC amount I could just wait till we got back.....

We booked this on board the Wonder a couple of a weeks ago. We will be sailing over DH's birthday. He's is so psyched!! So let's see, at last count we have celebrated both DD's and DH's birthdays on the boat and at the parks. Want to know the count for mommy (me) - 0, zip, nada!! Why does it always work that way?? :lmao: ;)

Since suites dont get any discount, I couldnt see any benefit to bookong onboard sonce we only get the OBC, and the cash card is much higher than that.
What would you need to request before you paod off the cruise?
You do have access to the concierge after you pay off the cruise and within 105 days of the cruise.

I just changed our dummy booking for the 3rd time. Now we are on this cruise to celebrate our 35th Wedding Anniversary. Our actual date is 5/28 but this date was chosen so that we can hook up with our friends who are already booked.
We also have the Dream for 4/10 for my 65th birthday.

Hello everyone! Just wanted to say hi-we arrived home after 11 nights on the Magic Dec 18-29th. While onboard we took advantage of the OBC/deal and booked this cruise! The hubby is heading to Afghanistan in less than six weeks and will be back in February 2012 so we will all be looking forward to the Fantasy in April 2012.

Booked this on the Wonder last month. Really wanted a 7day and since Dream is just doing the 3, 4, 5 Bahama's went for the Fantasy. I too liked the itinerary the best, more sea less ports.

Don't know how I managed that. I originally booked a 5 night dream cruise, and then changed my mind after getting home and had my TA move to this cruise.
Had to pay the difference in deposit, but still have the 10% off and whatever OBC I get from DCL.
Going to be closing on my DVC this weekend too, might be adding a night or two after at BLT before going home.

We were booked on the Dream for May, 2011 but decided we have done enough 3 and 4 day Disney cruises so decided to switch to this Eastern Caribbean one on the Fantasy! It will be just the two of us (kids in their 20's and in college, so we leave them at home!) it is a LONG way away, but that's ok. Gives me more time to plan! We are in cabin 8148. Looking forward to cruisin' the Eastern Caribbean and watching some sunsets from our balcony! :cool1:
Has someone started an FE list?

I got this a couple of weeks ago, I heard it was some kind of computer glitch. I had already received the correct one shortly after booking.
Donald_Quackers
01-15-2011, 08:42 AM
I knew it had to be a glitch, especially since everything else (DCL's site, DU's site) say it's an eastern itinerary.
They need to get someone who knows the right way to operate a website.

Hello!
We just booked this week. Me (mid 30s) and mom (late 50s) will be traveling along with mom's BFF & her husband. also trying to get some friends we made on our 2008 Magic sailing on board with us.
This will be our 6th time on DCL. Mom also spends a lot of time on RCCL.
We're doing the Dream next month (Feb 27) but have been stressing about 4 nights not being enough time to see the new ship. Now that we know we have a 7 night on the fantasy we're less stressed about seeing everything on the DREAM!

Hi All!
We are sailling on the Dream 2/13-2/17, and already are planning to book this cruise while onboard. We would like to be on the FE list when that gets planned.
Question for you experienced ones (next month is our first ever cruise)...as you're talking about onboard credit and such...what agency is the best to use? Someone mentioned a $250 credit, but did you book that onboard? Just trying to maximize our credit. I just worry that if we book onboard to get the discount, we might miss out on a better deal with bigger credits. Ya know what I'm sayin?! LOL. If you could dumb this down for me, I'd appreciate it!
It will be me, DH, and DD (11).
Talk to you soon!:woohoo:

When you book onboard you get a discount and an OBC, then you can transfer to a TA, some will give you an additional OBC, I'm not sure which TA gives the best OBC. I think that it is best while you are on board booking to transfer the reservation at that point, if you do it after you get home you might get a lesser OBC from the TA.
We'll be on the Dream right after you, the 17th -24th.

I can confirm that at least DU would give less of an OBC if you transferred after you got off.
As long as you name your Travel Agent at the time you book on the ship, they will get full commission and you would get whatever benefits they may be offering (again, this is up to the TA you go to).

I don't believe anyone has started an FE yet. I'm not THAT organized, otherwise I'd do it myself.
I originally booked a Dream cruise, then moved to this one. After seeing pics of the size of some of the verandahs, I'm now thinking about moving from my cat 9a to a verandah...I just wish I could find pics of 8502 or another forward 9a.

Hello
I'm new to the discussion board and we are going on our third cruise. My parents had booked a dummy cruise for this year but have changed and are joining us on this cruise.
Another fair warning, both DCL cruises I have been on have been affected by hurricanes. Our honeymoon was the shortened cruise in Sept. '04 (right after the long one), and our second cruise became a western cruise in Sept. '05 because of Hurricane Rita.
I can't wait to take an eastern cruise, we have booked two eastern cruises that became western cruises.
We're in cabin 7504 and my parents are a cat 11 gty.

So glad to be joining you. This will be our first DCL cruise and I'm soooo excited. Dh and I are taking our niece who will be 9 two days after we return. Dh is ampprehensive about this cruise, we have no children of our own and he is worried about being overwhelmed. DN and I are Disney nuts and I have taken her to the world twice, but thought it was time for something new. I'm hoping she will meet other kids and spend some time in the clubs with newfound friends to give Dh and I some alone (adult) time.
Looking forward to a great time!:yay:

We will be on this cruise! It will be me, my wonderful hubby, and our four kiddos. My kids are an 11-year-old girl, a 9-year-old boy, a 3-year-old girl, and a 7-month-old boy. Of course, they will all be older by the time the cruise rolls around. We are going to be staying in two adjoining family verandas, but not sure exactly which ones yet. My mother-in-law is going to join in on the fun this time and will be staying with us. We are so excited about the new ships!

What is a FE? It is a “Fish Extender” meaning a pocket of some type that hangs from your Disney Cruise Line “fish” outside your door, where Cast Members leave your confirmations and such.
This is a fun game started by a group of travelers to make the Cruising experience just a little bit more FUN. It is sort of like a Secret Santa… you will get a final listing prior to cruising (about 15 days prior) of who all is participating, so you can leave little “gifts” or “goodies” in others FE’s. You can do as many or as few as you like, there is NO rules or guidelines, it is meant to be fun for all and not to cause worry or stress – we are all on vacation – good times only!!
Ideas of other peoples gifts for suggestions and ideas: something to represent your state/country, favorite snack food, cruise themed items (beach balls, sunglasses..), pencils. It is just meant to be a fun little surprise when you get back to your rooms, not a huge investment of money! REMEMBER FUN!
Where do I get a FE? Many people have purchased theirs from Ebay or you can make your own. This is completely up to you.
How do I participate in a FE? You just send nikicares a private message with your information to be added. Please include: DIS board ID, guest names, how many adults, how many kids (and ages), stateroom number, dining seating, health concerns, and special celebrations. THANK YOU

Welcome FrostMommy!

Fair warning - we were on the crusie that never ended (see above link) I think my luck may have caused it all.
So does this mean that our cruise will be extended to two weeks with us all stranded and living like castaways on Castaway Cay for a week?!?! That doesn't sound like such a bad thing... :confused3

Only 430 days to go, gang! Has anyone tried shore excursions that weren't booked through Disney? We're considering horseback riding but we'd be on our own to book. Any thoughts?

Just got off the Dream and boy is she A. M. A. Z. I. N. G. Was our first ever cruise and cannot imagine sailing on any of the other "ships" we saw in port. Lol! We had a little excitement with a raging inferno in a warehouse right at the port in Nassau...got a late start to the day but were able to get in the shopping I wanted to do! Booked onboard for this Fantasy cruise for us, my bro-in-law and wife and friends from Colorado! It's gonna be so much fun!!!!!

Welcome to everyone!
We will be staying in Concierge room 12508... and I believe from our Disney Dream cruise (with the gates) the FE was still possible, all guests have to do is knock on the Concierge lounge door and someone in Concierge will deliver them to us... We still received many goodies in ours on the Dream!
Or I would be willing to be the drop off person/room and I will deliver them to the other concierge rooms :goodvibes

I'm sure Chloe (niece) would love knowing there is someone her age, that she could look forward to meeting. Then you don't feel like the new kid in class with no friends. We will have to arrange a meeting. I'm not telling Chloe about the trip until next year. She knows we are trying to go sometime next year, but haven't told her I booked it. Would hate to disappoint her if it somehow fell through.
I will pm you my e-mail address. Once we get closer, maybe they could send an e-mail to each other. Or maybe even a picture so they have a friendly face to look for. :yay:

Hello everyone! My family and I will be joining you on this cruise! Well, at least for now - dates for us could still change once we find out next year's school calendar.
This will be our second cruise, and first out of Port Canaveral - so still consider ourselves newbies I guess. We booked this cruise while on our first cruise just a couple of weeks ago on the Wonder in the Mexican Riviera! We loved it so much we couldn't walk away from the OBC. We look forward to going out of Disney's "home port", seeing the Caribbean and Castaway Cay for the first time, and staying closer to our time zone this time. Hopefully we can partake of more of the late night activities :-).
On the cruise will be 5 of us: myself, my wife, my sons (16 and 11) and my daughter (8). For now, we are on Deck 10, 10096. I know it is a looong way out, but look forward to joining you all.

Question for anyone that booked this while onboard. We received the reservation confirmation email on the same day we booked at the future cruise sales desk (which was only last Friday 2/25). Today I went on DCL website to review our reservation and I couldn't pull it up. I keep getting the following response:
"Sorry, we are unable to retrieve your reservation. Either there has been a system issue or another Guest in your stateroom or another stateroom linked to yours is currently arranging activities in My Cruise Plans. Please try again later."
I am hoping this is just a timing issue but I am surprised given we have already received our confirmation and paid the deposit. Anyone else have this experience?

I am not sure why it is not coming up for you. I do know that after you call Disney about your reservation or change something online, it freezes your reservation for about 90 minutes. At least, that it what I was told when I called before.

Ooo Ireland. I could probably visit there with some DVC points. I'd go for a Dream cruise, but I'm already going the first weekend in June for SWW and July 1-8. My nephew's birthday is July 3rd, and I'd like to catch the Epcot fireworks on the fourth if I can. One of those things you've gotta do at least once.
I'm also hoping we see more info on the Fantasy soon too.

I'm so excited I found this thread!
My family is now booked for this cruise on the Fantasy, and I think I am the most excited of the three of us. My daughter loves that there is an area on the ship just for her-she'll be 13 when we sail. Originally we planned on the new year's cruise 2011-2012, but it booked so fast that we couldn't get a room on our budget. So by extending to the April cruise (it better coincide with April vacation) we will have enough saved up for the Fantasy cruise.
I am looking forward to the FE program, but need to post some before I can send the PM to sign up.
This will be my first cruise and my first Disney experience. My daughter went to WDW last summer with her aunts and cousins. Hubby went in his early teen years...but I've never been. Since I always wanted to take a cruise, we combined the two.
I'm glad we have a year...there are so many good posts to read here.

Welcome aboard! This will be my 3rd cruise and 3rd disney cruise. Recommend you get the Passporter, their 2011 version will be out soon with information on the Dream, and aside from name changes for some of the locations on board, the ship should be pretty much the same as the Fantasy.

This definately looks very useful! I'm waiting for the 2011 cruise version, and am thinking of adapting the refill to a generic 3 ring binder with a zipper closure. That will allow us to add journal pages easier, I think.

Verizon phones will work, but you should really talk with them before leaving for the cruise and make sure you are on a proper plan. If you don't have the right plan, you'll wind up paying a lot more.
Myself, I just unplug from the world for the duration and enjoy myself. I got the deluxe passporter and love it.
Not sure about wireless on the Fantasy. Would recommend checking some of the threads about the Dream, we should have a similar experience to them in terms of wireless, but it is expensive and usually slow. This is a satellite internet connection on a moving ship.

DH wants to bring our own laptop on the ship with us. I'm wondering how the wireless internet is in the staterooms and other areas on the ship?
Anyone else have luck with Verizon cell phone service on the ship?
We're on Deck 6, aft.
The wireless internet on the Dream was hit or miss, pretty much like the Magic and Wonder, for two days you could barely hook up the rest of the time it was okay. It is never that fast but it is usable. Our stateroom was all the way aft then forward on Deck 6 and connectivity was not good, I used my netbook mostly in the atrium or Cove Cafe areas.

Welcome disfunfor3! You can just post the following information and I will get you added to the FE list - no worries :thumbsup2
As long as hubby has access to TV, pool, and games, he'll be happy. Daughter Serena is happy if we just let her go her way on the ship (13 years old), and she makes friends quickly anyway. Which means I can have my Disney fun with shows, movies, and everything! I will PM you when I have met my posting requirements to be able to PM. I'm coming up with a few ideas for the FE, inspired by the other suggestions I've seen. I'll be in my element, loving every minute!
And I'm anxiously waiting for the 2011 Cruise PassPorter to come out!!
It's fun letting the little kid in me come out to play.:woohoo:
Thank you!

Hi everyone, I have been reading this thread for a while now and finally decided to join the disboards. I booked this cruise with my family (mom and younger brother who turned 12 yesterday). We booked the first day available back in October and can't wait to sail in just over a year. We took our first and only Disney cruise in March 2007 for my brother's 8th birthday on the Magic doing a western cruise. I am excited to try the eastern this time around. Our whole family loves disney and try to go to Disney World or Disneyland every two years or so! We will definitely want to join the FE group and can't wait to get to know everyone :-)

We received a Disney vacation planning DVD in the mail yesterday. We don't really need it to plan we already booked, our 11 year old DD was bouncing off the walls all night after watching it.
Our trip is over a year away wonder if she is ever going to sleep?
Ordering the DVD in your little one's name is a great free way to ramp up the excitement.

Did the new planning video have the disney dream on it or was it mainly the magic and wonder still? I'm trying to get my aunt and cousin to come with us and want to have a planning video sent to them with a look at the new ship on it.

I've sent the email to the TA to book us for either an Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom or a Deluxe Inside Stateroom. Whichever is available. Just need to get the confirmation of what type of cabin we've got.
It will be my DH and myself on this cruise (leaving the two boys at home - they're 24 and 21 - have school, jobs and girlfriends) we'll be celebrating a BIG birthday for me at WDW the week before the cruise and then a week of relaxation!
I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you more in the next year. We met a lot of great people on the boards for the last cruise that we went on in 2009.
We'd love to do the FE, I'll send my info as soon as it is confirmed.

Thanks Warrenite!
We are one step closer. We had to decide between an Inside Stateroom on deck 9 aft or an Oceanview on deck 2 midship. The Oceanview was $600 less. After a lot of discussion we are going to go with the Oceanview on deck 2. I'll be confirming it tomorrow and putting down our deposit. Once that is done I'll feel confident enough to add the ticker.
Anyone purchase travel insurance? Is it better to go through Disney or get it on our own?

Not sure if it's the same in the States, but it is much cheaper to purchase through our local bank here in Ontario.

Paid the deposit today. We're in Cabin 2030, port side, midship.
I've sent my FE info.
I'll be calling both DCL and AccessAmerica to ask questions about the travel insurance. I need to check to see if we'll be covered if my mom has issues. She just had a heart attack a couple of weeks ago, had some stints put in and is doing great, but want to make sure it isn't considered a pre-existing condition that isn't covered before we decide which company to go with.
Anyone read any good 7 day Eastern trip reports? Or great reports that go into detail about the Dream?

I'm still writing my trip report (don't want to post it till it's done) but I had a fantastic time this last December on the Magic, even though we tendered in St. Thomas (which is not as bad as some might think).
Had a little rain when we were in St. Maarten, but it was still comfortable, and our day in St. Thomas was perfect, not a cloud in the sky!
Got a great pic of the Magic in St. Thomas:

So I know its a little early, but has anyone started thinking about excursions? I want to do the private charter with Captain Alan's tours in St. Maarten, I heard they are really good,, and not sure if we will just do Maegan's Bay in St. Thomas and throw in a little shopping or do an island/beach tour. Any ideas or what are y'all doing for excursions?

I'd love to talk excursions! But I'm not having any luck finding where they are listed. I don't have access to see them on the Disney Cruise site and I didn't see a listing of them on the wdwinfo. Have you just read about others from TRs?

I bought the Passporter which has great descriptions of all of Disney's excursions, as well as ways to do them 'on your own' for those that they have info for.
If this is your first cruise, I think the passporter is invaluable, and you shouldn't need to get the newest one. The ports haven't changed, just the ship, so you could get away with getting a 2010 edition of the Passporter.

364 days!! Woot woot!
I've been doing a bit of research on possible excursions and think I might book my own instead of going through Disney. In St. Thomas, we're considering booking a private sail/snorkel tour. There are several captains and most limit the number per sail to 6. It's expensive but so are the excursions booked through Disney. This option would provide 6 hours and most list 2 snorkel times. When we booked a snorkel excursion on Nassau a few years ago there were so many people on the boat that it was hard to get a good spot during the sail.
Anyone else done this or considering booking privately?

***************************************
You just notify the person in charge of the FE's for your trip and they will happily add you to the list. Then typically about 2-4 weeks prior to the cruise, you will be emailed or a updated list posted for your records.

Dh is ampprehensive about this cruise, we have no children of our own and he is worried about being overwhelmed. I'm hoping she will meet other kids and spend some time in the clubs with newfound friends to give Dh and I some alone (adult) time.

Hi all! We will be joining you all on this crusie as well. It will be me, my DH and my DS-6. It will be our DS's first cruise and Disney experience. We are SO excited to be going on this cruise!!!!
QUESTION: Has anyone ever done a fishing charter on a port day before?
Thanks for your input!!
Welcome aboard!
All: I just saw this (http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2011/05/fantastic-experiences-await-guests-on-the-disney-fantasy-new-details-revealed-today/) posted on DCL's facebook page about the Fantasy!

THANK YOU!!!! Thanks for the Fantasy update too!! We are actually going to experience both the Dream and Fantasy so it is interesting to get a sneak peak in how they will be different but yet the same. :goodvibes

Niki ~
THANK YOU!!!! We haven't told our DS yet about our crusie. DH and I are taking the Dream in Dec to get our "feet wet" and be more prepared to have the DS with us. We want to avoid all possible crabbies. The little guy knows when we are not sure and then gets stressed too. This must be a stress free vaca!!!:cool1:

Welcome newcomers!
I am so excited about the new information on the Fantasy!!! She looks beautiful! A little bummed that it doesn't look like Toy Story show will be on it,,my kids love Toy Story and not so excited about Aladdin,,but hey,,who's to gripe about little things like that. The Animator's Palate looks very interesting and I like the magical placemat that the kids can draw on. My dd is going to love that.
i can't wait!!!

See, I read it as they were adding the new Aladdin show to the itinerary. I would have thought they could add a new one because the Fantasy cruises are 7 niters vs the current 4/5 niters on the Dream. Maybe that was a incorrect thought process. :sad2:

It will be interesting to see what the shows will be, which ones the Fantasy shares with the other ships. Each ship has it's own unique show-Toy Story on the Wonder, Twice Charmed on the Magic and Believe on the Dream; then they share shows with the other ships-Golden Mickeys on the Wonder and Dream, Villains Tonight on the Magic and Dream and Disney Dreams on the Wonder and Magic. These change and end occasionally-Hercules on the Wonder and the Golden Mickeys on the Magic are gone. The longer cruises have All Aboard as the opening night show and Remember the Magic on the last night.
The new info just released about the Fantasy makes me more excited about this upcoming cruise:woohoo:.
We are also booked on the 2/16/12 Dream, exactly a year after our first trip on the Dream. I'll like the short span between to compare the ships

I was hoping Disney's Believe was going to be on both the Dream and the Fantasy...I'm getting more anxious to see what the other two shows are, I hope one is The Golden Mickeys.

We are planning on going to Universal Studios for two days before the cruise. my oldest ds is the ULTIMATE Harry Potter fan,,so we are taking him to Hogwarts for two days. I have a feeling I will need an extra suitcase just to bring back all the stuff we will buy at HP world.
I think we will wait on going back to WDW until after the expansion is over at MK.

We'll be in FL for a week before the cruise. This time we will probably take a day and go to US to see the HP stuff as well. This will be the first time we'll be going anywhere besides WDW. Guess I better start doing some research on that as well.
We loved all the information about the changes to the Fantasy. Can't wait to see everything, looking forward to the Pub.

The DCL site lists this under my past cruises
07/13/08 - 07/20/08 15-Night Hawaii Cruise Los Angeles, California
Disney Magic 7624
We're not even booked on next years Hawaii Cruise, it was listed correctly as the Mexican Riviera until recently.

Thanks for the book recommendation. I'll definately be checking out the US boards here (I love getting first hand reviews) but the book will probably come in handy as well).
I thought we might book one night over at one of the hotels in the area to get the extra benefits. WOW was I shocked at the price of the rooms. The cheapest was $349 for a standard view room. No economy rooms there!:scared1:
We'll probably see you in the pub!

From reading the forums and the books,,AAA offers room discounts, as does signing up with Loews Hotels which we have done because they offer special discounts. We are thinking about staying at the PBR because of the pool. I don't think the rates are out yet for 2012 in our time frame.
2_Eagle_Mom
05-26-2011, 11:15 PM
I'll check with AAA. You're right the rates aren't published yet online. I kept getting the "Sorry we have no rooms available at any of the hotels" message so I called the reservation number and they gave me those rates. We have a studio booked for OKW for the week right now, but we want to try and switch to WLV at the seven month mark so I'll check then to see if we can get a discounted rate at that time.

It is with sad news that we will not be on the Fantasy cruising. Unfortunately we just found out this cruise conflicts with our dd's Competition Cheer schedule so we had to reschedule. Sorry that you won't be able to join us.
On another note, I was listening to the Disunplugged Disneyland edition, and they mentioned something that other cruisers were doing for their FE gifts, and that was a donation to Give Kids the World.
Sounded like a fantastic idea to me -- thought I'd share it to get the ball rolling for this cause.

Have a fantastic time at WDW - the fireworks are fantastic. If you are staying anywhere near the Studios watch the skys a couple of days before the 4th (long after the park is closed). They do a test run of the studio fireworks. We were staying at the Boardwalk one year and had a special show from our balcony (it was fantastic and totally unexpected).

Do any of you know anything about the age limits at the kids club? Specifically, DD 2, will be 2 months shy of 3 years old at the time of sailing. She is well on her way to being potty trained. Any chance you think they would let her go to Oceaneers and not Flounder's? She will really want to be with her big DS-6.

I would check with your travel agent (or maybe try calling Disney), I just looked up the info on the kids clubs on a couple of sites and it didn't say anything about kids that are close in age. You might just post this question on the Cruise Board and see if you can get some actual experience report.

I've been "fantasizing" about our cruise as well. I've been listening to any and all podcasts that talk about the Dream and trying to read trip reports for Eastern Carribeans or the 7 day Dream cruises. I just pre-ordered the new PassPorter Cruise guide (won't be out till August) but with a pre-order you get to download the book online so I've started reading that as well.
I jumped right to the excursions and I think we're going to try the one where you go underwater in a "dive helmet" type of gear. DH has never been able to enjoy snorkeling because he can't wear his glasses and his mustache make getting a good seal with the mask a difficulty.
I'm also SO looking forward to the spa and I'll be getting passes to the rainforest room for the entire week.

I saw that someone else on another board posted this:
What made it really special was our DIS Meet group. Interestingly, if you look at our Meet page, you'll only see about 34 pages worth of 'chatter.' The reason for that --- and I think the reason for the ultimate success of the group --- is because we wound up taking most of the non-generic DIS chatter over to Facebook. Over on Facebook, about a year before the cruise, we created a secret group (totally private) that DISers who were going on this cruise could request to join. While on FB, ensconced in the comfort of privacy, we were chatting all day long the entire year with the benefit of real names, being able to friend one-another and being able to put profile pictures to names.
Now I am not Facebook savy enough to do this but this might be a fun way for all of us to keep in touch and get to know each other better prior to our sailing? Just a thought, it could be fun......
I am in, IF someone else is able to get it going :confused3

That sounds like a fantastic idea! I'd love to join that as well, but I too am fairly facebook illiterate (I can friend, post pics and post status, but that's pretty much my limit).
The last Disney cruise that I was on was really active the year leading up to the cruise, we made friends, requested each other as table mates. We had a blast!

So what does a compulsive planner do when she has a long weekend and is excited about her upcoming cruise? Reads the entire cruise thread again!
After reading Nikki's email I got started thinking and wondering about everyone that had logged onto this thread. I had asked Nikki a while ago to send me the FE list so I could try and "get to know" everyone before the trip and try and remember names. I loved how I got to know people on the cruise thread from the last cruise that I was on. I thought I might as well try and get the board jumping and try and get to know everyone better.
Nikki had listed everyone that had requested to be included on the FE list, but I added everyone that posted that they would be on our cruise. I also included ages of children if it was posted on the message and then added locations from signatures (its amazing how many cruisers from the East Coast there are!).

As I said, someone posted this on the last cruise thread that I was on, it was a good starting point to introduce yourself and family to the other DISers on the cruise. It looks like some of the group may have already met on previous cruises so they already have a jump on the rest of us.
Here is a list of questions that can get the conversations started (posting blank ones to make it easier to copy/paste:

Question about Fantasy the cruise?
I'll start it off, hopefully I won't be the only person that does this...
Name: Jane and Jim
Age: 49 & 51
From: Martinez, CA (about 40 miles East of San Francisco)
Family: Two boys, 24 and 21 - they will be staying home taking care of animals, going to school and working
Fav Disney Character(s): Jane - Mickey, Jim - Buzz Lightyear or Captain Hook (guess it depends on his mood)
Profession: Jane - Corporate Meeting Planner, Jim - IT Analyst
Hobbies: Jane - planning vacations, Jim - cruising the web, graphic novels (Hey, they aren't comic books!)
Past Cruise history: 2003 - 3 day Magic Bahamas (with the boys), 2010 - 7 day Magic Western Carribean (25th anniversary w/o the boys)
Favorite Disney Rides: Jane - Soarin', Jim - Matterhorn
Favorite Disney Treat: Jane - Mickey Premium Bar, Jim - Funnel Cake
Favorite Disney song: Jane - We Go On - Illuminations, Jim - You've Got a Friend in Me - Toy Story
Favorite Disney Memory:
WDW- Watching Illuminations with the boys for the first time - gave me goosebumps and got me all teary eyed back then and still does.
DL-Celebrating the boys birthdays in DL and getting to ride with the engineers on the engine - DS was 8 and was SO amazed he was speechless the entire trip
DCL- walking around the ship at midnight, warm night, gentle breeze, and lightening storms in the distance
Most pressing question about the Fantasy cruise? Do we book a dinner at Palo or Reme? We've done the Palo brunch and that was great, do we splurge and do the Reme (or whatever it will be called) or just stick with Palo. I'm not the most adventurous when it comes to food so I'm a little nervous about what they might serve and ending the evening having to get room service after the meal.
I hope everyone from the US has a safe and happy Independence Day!

Ok, I'll try
Jim 64 and Pat 65
we're from Clinton Twp, Michigan
We're joining our son, DIL and grandson on our First Disney Cruise
We are both retired Jim from teaching and Pat from Bookkeeping
We have been on 3 cruises since retirement but this is our first on Disney
We went to Disney with our oldest son in 1973! Then we went about 5 years ago with the entire family. What a difference.
We have been back a couple times, just the 2 of us.
Am looking forward to going with "young people" this time, on a cruise
I am confused about this FE group. Am signed up but don't know how to give more info to who ever leads this group. Am already making gifts, and would hate to think that we have been left behind!!! I also need some info on how many cruisers are signed up for this. ANY HELP would be great.
Happy 4th to everyone!
Pat
Just noticed my cruise date is one week after everyone else

Here is the entire list:

I found a "getting to know you" list of questions that we used on my previous cruise thread. I'll put in on another post since this one is getting quite long. I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you better!

Question about Fantasy the cruise? Hopeing they will have the beer mugs for this cruise.
This is why I thought that the Facebook Group would be great, so we could also start putting faces to names and such... we have a pretty big group so far.
