Can anyone help me out with the best time for a PS at Rose & Crown to watch Illuminations? I understand that the seat isn't guaranteed, but want to optimize my chances of being seated outdoors. Thanks

We've had good luck with 7:30 PSs.
Can the whole restaurant see the show or is it just selected tables in the resaturant. If it is selected restaurant, how do we request these tables?

When you call, ask for the last available seating - we got 8:00.

I thought they stopped honoring requests for outside Illuminations seating? It's now purely luck of the draw?

We had a PS for 7:00 pm because the CM at WDW DINE said that it was the best time to request. We also added to our PS that it was our anniversary and we really wanted a patio seat.
Well, when we checked in the hostess said all the patio tables were taken. OK, no big deal... so we said we'd wait. Well, we went to the bar and had several drinks... 7:30 goes by, 8:00 goes by, 8:30 goes by.... NOBODY got up!! We waited until almost 9:00pm... I was so mad. I couldn't believe that people would come at like 5:00 and 6:00 pm and sit for the whole night! It's just wrong wrong wrong!
So, if you really want to see Illuminations from Rose and Crown I guess you have to eat early and then sit there all night and hog a table. Or maybe you'll get lucky and somebody will actually eat and then leave.
I'll never be back to that restaurant again. It ruined our night.

I have heard the R&C will take requests but they do not guarantee them. And they also dont want people waiting around for a patio table to open up. So it is luck of the draw. We have been tere twice, and had a nice patio table both times. The last time in June we requested one for our party of 11 and even offered the host $20 to help us out when we checked in and he wouldn't take it and told us there are no guarantees. However we had one long table out on the patio!
So make your requests when you make your PS, and check in at the stand about a half hour early (that way they know for sure you are there) and remind them of your request, then wait fo ryour PDA to alert you. If it isn't a table you want than leave. You don't have to stay there and eat. Go grab some counter service food and watch from the side of the lagoon.

We had made PS's for an 8pm seating at Rose and Crown, and really, it wasn't to see Illuminations, it was just the earliest time they had available.
I checked in 15 minutes early so they knew we were there and they told us it would be about a half hour before they could seat us - no problem. Well, 8:30pm comes around and still, we aren't seated. Come to find out, people who were seated at 5pm, 6pm were just sitting around - no longer eating. We never yelled at the workers, as they were all really sweet and apologetic because of the wait. Finally, a couple of the managers came out and made people leave - if they were done, they were to leave. ;)
My husband was smiling, as so many people who were asked to leave made really cruel remarks - all I wanted to say was "You are not the only people here who want to eat". We never requested it, but we got a table right by the opening to the patio and had an excellent view of Illuminations, although we really hadn't planned on watching it that evening.
I hope you get your PS's you request, and also that people are more considerate in the future for others wanting to dine in the restaurant.
