Yesterday I booked on the Dream for 2012 and I selected an aft cabin because we LOVE that location on the Magic/Wonder. Now that I am looking at the deck plans for the Dream, I am wondering if it is still as appealing to be aft. It seems like everything has been moved closer to mid-ship (the Mickey pool (and maybe the drink station???), the movie theater, 2 of the 3 Dining Rooms. I might be giving a room off the mid-ship elevators a try this cruise. Have others re-assessed?:confused3

i wonder why you would want to be near the mid ship elevators if this is where everything is located. would you not think they would be the busiest, therefore hardest to get on to? i would stay aft and go with eleators i didn't have to wait on, take a few extra minutes to casually walk from the elevators to where i'm going and not fight the crowds. just my thought. we book aft on the fantasy.

I did think about how crowded the mid-ship elevators might be. Maybe a room off the forward elevators would be a good choice...they appear to be about equal distance to the Mickey Pool as the aft elevators and much closer the hub of activity at mid-ship.

I have 1 room booked forward on the Dream (a corner 9A room) just for curiousity sake, but have booked aft rooms for the rest.

Anyone else notice the midship elevators are now more mid-forward? Very little gap between the midship and forward elevators. But the food is mostly still aft (well, half aft, half mid now), so we're sticking with aft, at least until I hear differently.

I have a front corner booked on the fantasy also. Why do you want to be aft? What are the advantages? Will I hate being in the front?

On the Magic/Wonder I prefer to be aft because the aft elevators are generally less crowded and many of the places my family spends time are aft (Mickey Pool, Drink Station, Movie Theater, Topsiders, plus 2 of the 3 dining rooms - Parrot Cay & Animators Palate). On the Dream/Fantasy a few of those have been moved further forward (most notably the Mickey Pool).

We have small kids, and on the current ships, the adult areas are generally located forward (nightclubs, spa, adult pool, cove cafe, etc.) while the family areas are located midship or aft. Plus, 4 of the 5 restaurants on the current ships are located aft, along with the drink station. So we spend much of our time aft or midship, and only go forward for the WDT.

I booked the front corner room on the Dream just to see what it's like since it looks larger, and there were early rumors that it might have 2 large portholes. However, from the deck plans and diagrams, it looks like it'll only have 1 porthole off to the side of the ship, so I'm not as excited about that aspect. We'll try out different locations on the ships until we find one that works best for us.

I did not notice that.
That might make aft elevators busier with more people going that way instead of midship elevators. I need to go look at this.

Whoa, you're right. I hadn't even noticed that! wow.......

I can't decide if the midship elevators are more forward, or if the forward elevators are more aft than on the current ships, or if they're about the same, but there seems to be a significantly longer distance between the aft elevators and the midship ones.

We did book aft rooms on the Dream since we also liked aft better than forward on the other ships. I did wonder about the elevators, etc and hoped we wouldn't be taking the stairs too much more, but then again, we can eat more that way :)

Comparing Deck Four on the Dream to Deck Four on the Magic/Wonder, the AFT elevator on the Dream is pushed back quite a bit, and the mid-ship elevator is just a touch more forward.
Probably has something to do with the dining room placement, and the galleys, is my guess.

The forward elevator on all the ships looks to be in the same place.

I still prefer aft. Elevators are usually less crowded, it's more quiet back there, not as many people wandering past, and I always know which direction I'm headed when I leave my stateroom!

We also love aft - I tend to feel the ship move less aft. Plus, I just like the quieter, out of the way location. There is usually less children running down the halls.....We only use the stairs (no elevators!), so elevator placement doesn't matter too much. We have stayed inside stateroom on deck 7 aft (first cruise) -- loved being right by the deck 7 aft balcony, and now we typically book room #6634. On the Fantasy, naturally I was "pulled" towards cat 5E, but DH likes those 6A/6B aft verandah rooms. We haven't booked yet, but they look interesting. For whatever reason, we just don't have any desire to be forward..........I am interested in what the Dream/Fantasy bow rooms will be like -- I am counting on DISers to post pics!

Ditto here, and we will let you know. We ended up with a room on deck 5 - a little concerned about that but who knows. We like 6142 - have had it several times....and love aft.
