Hello! I just booked this cruise this morning! It will be myself and DS11 at the time we sail. We have quite a ways till we meet on this cruise -- but the planning is half the fun! :goodvibes

We're driving down from Atlanta, spending a day at Disney World before the cruise, and spending 2 days at Disney World after the cruise. We haven't cruised with Disney since my son was a baby in 2001 on the Wonder, so I'm VERY excited to be back on Disney and try the new Disney Dream.

Who else is coming along?

Morning! I woke up this morning even more excited about booking this cruise. Didn't think I could get more excited...! :rotfl: Right now I'm booked in an oceanview, but I'm thinking we may want a balcony cabin. I have a balcony cabin booked on Allure of the Seas for Christmas, 2011, so it may be hard to go from a balcony to an oceanview on the Dream for 2012. Hmmm...have to give that some more thought today.

Well - hope others join the roll call! :)

Hello! I figured I would post here at least once or twice a day, so that people that may have booked this cruise can see we have a cruise meet going.

TGIF! :thumbsup2

Hello and happy Saturday!

I've been looking at all the new enhancements to Castaway Cay and I can't wait to visit there on this cruise - twice! The water and beaches in the Bahamas are so beautiful.

Now only if my countdown clock would hurry up....! :)

Good afternoon! I'm a little late in posting today, but I guess it's ok, since I'm basically talking to myself on this thread! :lmao:

Admittedly, I've been tossing around the idea of going on a 7-day cruise, instead of this one. While I like the idea of going to Castaway Cay twice on this sailing, I also like the idea of going on a 7-day cruise, as opposed to this 5-day one.

However, right now I'm booked in a balcony cabin for this cruise, and if I move to the 7-day, I'd have to downgrade to an inside cabin, due to the additional cost.

Any insight on this? Would you do a 7-day Caribbean cruise, as opposed to 5-night double-dip to Castaway Cay? And would you give up a balcony cabin and go inside cabin to make the change? Oh, I'm so confused!

Hopefully someone is reading this thread.....thanks!

Well, after much thought, I've decided to switch and sail on a Disney Fantasy 7-night Carribean cruise.

Have a great time on the Dream! :goodvibes

Whoops - guess who's back on board?! ME! :rotfl:

After doing the Eastern and Western caribbean routes on other lines, I came back to this sailing, mainly because of the double-dip to Castaway Cay. I just LOVE cruise private islands! :goodvibes

Hopefully others will join in and we can get the planning started. I'll be sure to post every day, to keep this thread on the 1st page. :)

Morning and Happy Monday! I asked the Moderators to put a link to this cruise meet on the main boards. Hopefully it will show up there soon, so people don't have to search so deep to find this thread.

Then maybe I can stop talking to myself around here! :lmao:

Make it a good one!

PoeticMoe, I just saw your post on the CSR thread and noticed that not only are we on the same cruise, but we will be at WDW around the same time at the same resort! :cool1: I also have a son, who will be 12 when we sail.

Drummerwife - AWESOME!! :cool1: I finally have someone to talk to around here and can stop talking to myself! LOL :lmao: My son will be 11 when we sail. Have you cruised DCL before? We have, but it was way back in 2001 and my son was just a baby. I've been waiting for these new Disney ships to come out and have been watching the build and progress very closely. Since we're doing the land trip to WDW next year, we decided to do the cruise in 2012. Besides, the rates for 2012 were much cheaper than the rates for 2011 - go figure! Have you and your family cruised before? We've cruised on other lines, but for our next cruise, I really had no interest in going back to the Caribbean. So this 5-night double-dip to Castaway Cay is perfect for us.

And how cool is that we'll also be at WDW around the same time next year, AND staying at CSR! What a coincidence. I haven't been to Disney in years, and this will be my son's first visit. But I'm way more excited to go back than he is. Have you stayed at CSR before? It looks really nice in all the pics I've seen. And the free dining offer doesn't hurt either. :thumbsup2

I've always liked talking to myself, because I like to hear what I have to say.:lmao:
Yes we have sailed DCL. We did a 4 nt in Oct '07 and I just got back from a 4 nt mom's getaway cruise. I too have been watching the building of the Dream very closely and I'm really excited about May '12. We are also planning to sail on the Fantasy for Christmas 2012. :santa: Now if they would just announce those dates.

We've been to WDW many times. My parents recently moved away from Orlando, so now we have to stay onsite. Darn. :rotfl2: We stayed at CSR this past Aug and had a super great time. The resort is really nice and the pool can't be beat. We will be there 15 -24 Sep. how about you? And your right about the free dining offer, it's nice.

A Christmas cruise on the Fantasy sounds wonderful! That will be a great Christmas. We've never travelled during Christmas time, but next year we're taking a Christmas cruise on Freedom of the Seas and I can't wait!

We'll be at CSR 9/18 - 9/24 - could we have any more in common?! :goodvibes What deck are you on for the Dream?

What a fantastic fall and winter you'll have! WDW in Sep and a cruise for Christmas...would you like to adopt three more people, we won't take up much room or eat much, really. :lmao:

We should plan a get-together at CSR while we're there. Maybe at the dig site? :thumbsup2 We'll be on deck 7 cabin 7074, how about you?

Hope you have a good night and a great week-end.

Wow, I'm surprised (kind of) that a meet is already up for a cruise 18 months away. I think it is the cruise that for most folks will be just after school lets out and around Memorial Day. We (will) have a 13 and 15 yr old. They are excited to do the Aquaduck. Otherwise, I am hoping to have my wife relax as much as possible on board and on CC. BTW, Christmas Fantasy cruise 2012 sounds awesome-- I'm going to check right now.

Hi Janice! We should definitely plan a get together at CSR. That would be FUN! Our cabin is on deck 6, aft of the ship. This will be our first time having a balcony too; woo hoo!

Right now I'm working on a 'plan of action' for when we do WDW, like which parks we're going to visit and what rides we're going to do first. I definitely need some strategy to maximize my time there! :goodvibes

Hello and welcome to our cruise meet! :goodvibes I'm Monie and I'll be with my then DS (11). I booked this cruise as soon as DCL released their 2012 rates and itineraries.

My son gets out of school the Friday before the cruise. So after his last day of school, we're driving down to Orlando that afternoon and spending that Saturday at WDW, then boarding the Dream on Sunday. Should be a busy time, with him just getting out of school, but we'll be able to relax and have fun once we get on the Dream. Can't wait! I was only interested in the Castaway Cay double-dip cruises, and this one fit the bill.

Now only if DCL will release the rest of 2012 itineraries and rates....we could book for Christmas, 2012. Patience is not one of my better qualities...! :lmao:

:welcome::welcome::welcome: matrixband. The more the merrier! Yes, I figure this cruise will fill up quickly because of the timing. I homeschool our DS11, so the only schedule I have to work around is my DH.:rotfl: As for the Christmas cruise...DCL has not announced the dates for the rest of 2012 yet. :confused3 I did make a dummy reservation while onboard a couple of weeks ago, that I can transfer once they release the dates. :thumbsup2 My DS is also excited about the Aquaduck. Are you kids a pirate: or a princess: That may not be the best description when asking about teenagers:cool2: but I thought, what the heck.:lmao: Anyway, welcome again.

This will be our first time having a balcony also. I'm a little nervous about being on one of the upper decks as DH has trouble with motion sickness:sick: My TA (and all my research has) said being mid-ship should be fine.

I haven't given much thought about the WDW trip even though it's closer:laughing: I'll probably start planing that one at the 180 day mark. Gotta get those ADR's:rotfl:

Hello everyone! It's been a few days since I posted on the boards. Shame on me! :rotfl: Hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving last week.

I decided to cruise for Christmas next year after all. I got a really great deal on the brand new Allure of the Seas that I couldn't pass up. And especially for a holiday sailing. My son is VERY excited to cruise Allure. His first choice was Oasis of the Seas, but when RCI came out with the Allure last week, his eyes got even wider. :goodvibes

So Janice, unfortunately I won't be able to meet you at CSR next year - bummer! :sad2: Had to give up my stay at CSR to cruise over Christmas. But hey, we still have our Dream cruise to look forward to! :cool1:

Janice - have you attended a cruise meet on your previous DCL cruises? If so, what are they like? Just trying to get some ideas for when we plan a cruise meet for this cruise. Did you particpate in the 'fish-extenders'? I had no idea what a fish extender was till I joined the DIS boards! :)

TTYL and have a great day everyone! :thumbsup2

PoeticMoe, Sorry I haven't been on here lately. Sometimes life has a way of getting in the way. kwim :rotfl:

A Christmas cruise on the Allure of the Seas, how wonderful! I'm sure you and your son will have a fantastic time. :thumbsup2 We'll sure miss you at CSR though. :sad1:

I have not attended a cruise meet on either of my cruises. On the first one, we were totally clueless. :confused3 We didn't even know the Dis boards existed! :scared1: The second one was a private getaway for me, and I had a spa reservation at the same time as the cruise meet. Go figure. I'm not sure if we'll participate in the fish extenders this cruise or not. My son has Aspergers (a very mild form of autism) and he is not very keen on the idea. I'll keep working on him though. :rolleyes1 I'll be glad to help out with the cruise meet if you want, just let me know. :goodvibes

Hope you have a good day and a fantastic week-end. I've got a mom's night out on Saturday with the girls, no kids! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Hi, hello, and welcome!
This will be our first Disney Cruise and second trip to the parks!
It will be myself, my hubby, my DS6 and DS4 (at sail time) and their grandma and grandpa.
I am new to posting but am a HUGE fan of the boards!
We went to the parks May 2010 and got so much info I felt like an expert!
I can't wait to plan, plan, and more plan...and meet some of our fellow sea voyagers along the way!
Here's to May 2012!

Just thought I would post that we "want" to be on this cruise. We are planning and researching to see if we can afford it. My husband and myself have 4 kids, ages 16, 9, 6, and 5 at the time of this cruise. We live in Virginia, and have done 2 previous Disney cruises back when our first 2 children were small. Our third child is a "souvenir" of our second cruise. ;) :lovestruc

We have been to WDW for the past 2 years, and are just ready for another cruise. I will keep you informed, and hopefully we will be joining you on this cruise.

Just got off the Dream for a 4 night spring break cruise and it was unbelievable. On board booked the 5 night cruise for next year over spring break. Will be me, DM, DS 12, DS 10, DS 6.

Also will be cruising with grandparents, my brother and his wife and two kids, and my sister and her husband and 2 kids.

We have a block of 5 inside cabins together.

Just got off boat and can't wait to get back on. Also can't wait to be on Castawy Cay twice in one trip.

We are new to Disney cruising, but have been reading up on the FE tradition and can't wait to join! I already have my material and am ready to sew...also working on magnets for our door. If anyone has other tips for us newcomers...please let me know. I am sooo excited!

Hi Everyone! My parents and I will be joining you on this cruise, so excited! I am treating them to this vacation for their 30th anniversary which is in June 2012. My parents have taken me on so many amazing Disney and other vacations over the years, so I'm thrilled that my career is taking off, school is over, and I am finally in the position to take them on a much deserved vacation after all they've done for me. Next weekend is their 29th anniversary, I cant wait to surprise them with the news of the cruise for next year! As all of us DISboarders know, looking forward & counting down to a trip is half the fun!

I have been on 4 Disney cruises--2 4-night Bahamian on the Wonder, a 7 night Eastern on the Magic, and the most amazing trip of all, the 15 night Panama Canal cruise on the Wonder that I took just under 6 months ago. It was so amazing to spend that much time onboard, we had amazing weather, met wonderful people, and just had the best time. Topped off by 3 pre-cruise nights at WDW, and 3 post-cruise nights at Disneyland in CA, it was my “Ultimate Disney Vacation” for 21 nights. The only thing that went wrong was that our Castaway day was too windy and we were unable to dock : ( , so obviously I’m super excited for the Double Dip at CC on this cruise!

I’m so glad to hear there is interest in doing the Fish Extenders on this cruise! I hand sewed mine and have gotten a lot of use out of it already : ) I would be happy to volunteer to organize the Fish Extender details, I’ve been the organizer on 2 of my cruises and enjoyed it. I think the cruise meets, Fish Extender gift exchanges, and door decorating with magnets add so much more fun to the cruise.

Well, just wanted to introduce myself and look forward to chatting with you all over the next 11 months! I haven’t been on the DIS since February after getting back from my 15 night cruise, so it feels good to get back into the groove. Talk to you all soon!

We were just on the Dream this past May 26th for 3 days. It went way too fast. We were in an inside cabin. We booked on the ship a 7 day but my husband loves Cast Away so we switched to the 5 day. We can't wait until next year, especially since we will be in a balocony this time.

My family will be on this cruise. We sailed on the Dream May 8th 2011 and fell in love with it. We loved castaway cay so we booked the double dip. We will be celebrating our 23rd wedding anniversary on the 26th. Our family is myself my husband and then 8 year old daughter.

Hi everyone! Thought I'd introduce myself since we'll be on this cruise. My name is Pamela and we are a family of 2 adults and 2 kids ages 1 and 4 at the time of sailing. This is not our first Disney cruise but it is the first for our youngest and we have never done the FE thing before so we'd love to join in on that. I'd love to hear more info on how it all works and ideas for gifts and such. I am so excited for this trip and I'm looking forward to chatting with you all as our dates come closer! :wave2: :beach:

Welcome Pamela! So glad more people are starting to join, can't believe we're only just over 6 months away! The FE thing is really fun. you basically make or buy something to hang over the fish hook outside your door, like a pocket organizer, and people put in little gift surprises. They can be anything from homemade trinkets, to candies, to little toys, etc. The fun is just coming back to your room and finding surprises in it. Basically someone volunteers to organize a sign up list that cuts off about 1-2 months prior to sail date which gives people time to know how many gifts to make/buy, and some people even customize them with names or things geared to the kids ages, etc but its totally up to you. Then they would distribute a list right before sailing with the participating staterooms on it so you know where to drop your gifts off. its that simple! I have volunteered to do it for our cruise since I've done it a few times before and dont mind doing it if no one else wants to.

Hope this answers your questions!

DH and I just booked this cruise today. We are excited to experience the Dream PLUS 2 stops at Castaway....can't get better.

We have a GTY room...our first time booking without picking a stateroom. Fingers are crossed for an upgrade. Maybe they'll need someone to take the Disney suite. :rotfl2: Ok...so maybe not...but we might still end up with an upgrade. If not, we'll still be happy in our white wall veranah.

We don't plan on getting off the Dream in Nassau...we've been there on our past 3 Disney cruises so we're looking at the cruise as 2 days at Castaway and 2 days at sea. This makes it easy to plan...no excursions to research. We already know on Castaway that we want to Parasail and take in the full view of our favorite island. Other than that, this cruise will be about relaxing!!

Thanks Nicole, it does!

My family and I are excited to be taking this cruise, our second Disney cruise. My DH, DS 11 and DD 9, can't wait!! I am very interested in the FE group...it sounds like a great way to meet others and to add to the overall experience. I am most excited about making the gifts...my kids are too! Let me know what the next step is and I would love to help with the planning.

Happy New Year everyone!! I waited until we revealed this cruise to our kids and grandkids at Christmas before joining this thread. We all are excited for our first 5 night double dip cruise. We would love to participate in the FE, having 3 rooms...6 adults and 6 kids (13,12,12 9, 8, 4) Please keep us posted on who is in charge of the FE and I will get room numbers with names & ages for our 3 rooms. Can't wait and hopefully will make some new friends.

Welcome to all the new folks! Now that we are in the new year and so much closer to the cruise, I will start to compile the info for the Fish Extender exchange. Please PM me the following information to sign up: Stateroom, Preferred FE Day, # of Adults, # of Kids, Family Name, Hometown, Names of Adults, Names/Ages/Gender of Kids. The reason I ask for preferred FE Day is because I like to sort the list into assigned days for each person to deliver, which ensures that everyone will get a few things each day of the cruise and not all at once. It works out best this way to keep the fun alive for the entire cruise. If you have a preference like you want to give your gifts out on pirate night if it is a pirate themed FE gift, you can note that, otherwise if you have no preference I'll just randomly divide the list into 5 nights.

We also need to decide on a cutoff date for FE signups to allow everyone time to buy or make their gifts. What do you all think?

You can post your information here on the thread if you don't mind doing so. Its up to you- some people dont mind putting it on the thread and others do. Dont worry we have plenty of time to sign up so if you would rather wait until you have 7 more posts to be able to PM, you'll be there in no time (especially if you ask questions on the main board!) and then you can PM me later.

Second sailing on the Dream for us. DH and I went last April without the children! This time we will have our Daughter (14), Son (11) and Daughter (8). They will all be eligible to be in the 3 different kids spaces. Anyone have any children same ages? Hoping to find them a penpal before we cruise. It's so cold here in PA today. We are sailing with you all! My MIL gifted us this trip for Christmas so it's Me35, DH37, DD6, MIL65, and my BIL's family of 5 (kids ages 10,11,16). This is our first Disney Cruise! Cannot wait. We have been to WDW 4 times in the past 2 years. I got a little addicted after our first trip in Sept '09:)

I cannot wait to decorate our door. I'm holding out on joining the FE exchange b/c I'm not sure what type of gifts/trinkets are given and how many we are supposed to bring although it sounds like so much fun! Can someone point me to a thread explaining ideas or just walk me through it. I have a very vague idea of what goes into this but would love more specifics so I can make my decision. I really hope it's something I can swing bc it looks so fun.

Some people do 1 gift per person in the room, and may personalize or gear the individual gifts to the ages of the kids, genders of the adults, etc. Others do a bigger gift or general gift 1 per stateroom instead of 1 per person. Its really up to you what you decide, just like some buy gifts, some make them.

Hi everyone,

Joining the discussion and looking forward to joining the FE exchange, too! I will PM you, Nicole, with the necessary info.

Our group is myself, my husband Mike, and my son Fletcher, who is 6. We're from Newnan, GA, which is outside of Atlanta. We have done two other Disney cruises, but this will be our first time on the Dream and we are looking forward to seeing the new ship!

Our most recent cruise was a 7-nt. Mexican Riviera cruise last February, which was great, but we're so looking forward to going back to Castaway Cay. Our first cruise was a 3-nighter on the Wonder in '09, and we LOVED Castaway Cay, so we chose this cruise b/c we get to go there twice!

The MR cruise was our first time doing the FE thing, and my son loved it--he was so excited to come back to our room and see if there were gifts in our "Fish Thing."

We're really starting to get excited now that we're getting close to the 3 month mark!

Just got off the 4 night Dream this morning, what an amazing trip. The ship was breathtaking and even better than I had imagined. This was a solo trip so it was a bit lonely at times but overall I had a great time, met very nice people and enjoyed all of the adult areas and nightlife. I am so excited for my parents to be able to experience it with me on this cruise in just over 3 months! I am officially Gold castaway now. I was able to get Remy and Palo dinner reservations but not Palo brunch, they were all booked up. I really hope some more open up before sailing, I'll check daily because I HATE having to book onboard on embarkation day, there is always a long line and the cast members seem to be very incompetent/inefficient with getting the reservations done there in person. We shall see. Hope everyone else is able to get what they want as well!

The FE group is like a Secret Santa...you basically leave gifts for other participants in their Fish Extender. An actual Fish Extender hangs from the "fish" outside the stateroom. There are some great threads that explain it in depth, provide instructions for making a FE and give ideas on gifts.

When I checked online as a Gold a couple weeks ago, there were no more Palo brunch slots available for a party of 3. However, just for the heck of it I put in for a party of 2, and several slots opened up. I thought that was silly since I was just on the Dream 2 weeks ago as a single and did not even see any tables for 2 in Palo. They sat me both for brunch and dinner at a large round booth that could have fit at least 3, if not 4. All of the tables were also 4-tops. Anyway, I booked the reservation for 2 and just plan on calling there the 1st day to tell them we have 3, I thought this would be easier than wasting time on the 1st day to try to get reservations when I could get something online and just modify it later.

No it is not too late. We have not set an official deadline yet, a few people have proposed 6 weeks prior to sail date as a cut off, I think that is good, its far enough out that it gives people to shop/make/buy gifts but not so far out that it excludes late joiners. What do you all think?

FYI everyone--there were a few threads on the main forum discussing conflicting info as to when Pirate Night was on the 5 night cruises. I was getting concerned, so I had my TA look into it. She called DCL and spoke with a supervisor who confirmed that pirate night is WRONG on the dcl website under "my cruise activities" where it shows its on sea day (wednesday). It is actually on Nassau/Tuesday!! Luckily I was able to change my Remy to the correct Pirate Night. There were still a few Palo and plenty of Remy spots available on Tuesday also in case anyone else was planning to skip pirate night for one of those, I figured i'd share here so you can hopefully make the switch in time like I did!

We can't wait!! Our last cruise was the 7-night Western Caribbean - Sad that this trip will be shorter, but so glad to visit Castaway twice! Lots of changes since our last vist! :cool1:

Hi May 27th dbldip cruisers!
Just wanted to stop back in the room to see how every one is doing? Getting giddy like me yet?:banana::banana:
Its getting close now and I cannot wait.
Has everyone got the excursions/ressies/spa appts they were hoping for?
We are playing it low key since this is our first Disney cruise...no Palo/Remy, no major excursions (except maybe parasailing on Casaway), and maybe a couples cabana massage. Just want unscheduled time to take it all in!

:beach:

What are you all looking forward to the most?

WDWPrincess71, how is the FE group going?

Looking forward to hearing how our fellow castaways are preparing...

Pixie dust to you all,

The FE Group is going well- 17 staterooms signed up! We are so excited that we only have about 2 months to go! We did get all of the things we were hoping to book- Atlantis aquaventure excursion, Remy/Palo dinners, and Palo brunch. Palo brunch would only let me book for 2 of us and not 3, but I booked it anyway and will just call onboard to tell them we have 3. The only thing that was frustrating, as some of you also know, is that the pirate night is listed on the wrong night online in 'my cruise activities'. It is listed on our sea day when in fact it is our Nassau day, as my TA confirmed with a DCL supervisor. Luckily I was able to change my Remy reservation accordingly. Several other DISers on other 5 nighters have also confirmed that their pirate night is listed incorrectly online, so i'm not sure why DCL is having an issue with this. Hopefully it all works out in the end.

Hi Everyone! Some of you have started PM'ing me asking me for details on the FE list so far so you can start your planning. So, to make it easier, I've uploaded the spreadsheet to Google Docs and you can access it with this link, you dont need to sign in or anything:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AuVIzUuxho4adGZZMDVaNlN1QzhlR3lyaFNaLUFLR 3c

Let me know if you have any problems, I haven't used google docs in awhile but it seems pretty straightforward.

Now for the FE cutoff, the consensus was to cut off 6 weeks prior to cruise, which will be April 15, now that's an easy one to remember ; ) Anyone else who wants to join please PM me between now and 4/15. This gives us time to finalize/personalize our gifts.

Just wondering if I'm alone in spending several hours recently checking the updated photos on the food thread or experiencing feelings of FE envy ("why can't I think of cool stuff like that?")?? Random thoughts of "Do I really NEED more pins?" or "Should I order a new magnet for the door?" occurring just as I drift off at night . . .

Hi everybody,
Glad to be joining this thread. We are getting so excited about the upcoming trip. I hope that we aren't too late to join the FE list!?! I will be sailing with my 10 year old daughter and this will be our first Disney cruise. We are in full planning mode and I've been reading all about the FE exchange and door magnets. :surfweb: I'm beginning to feel overwhelmed.

Wdwprincess71,

My name is Natalie & I will be traveling with my daughter, Ava.
She is 10 years old. We aren't picky about an FE day so just put us down any day. Our hometown is Madison, MS. Please let me know if you need any other information.

I am dreaming about the warm sand of Castaway Cay. ooooooooo

Hi! we also have a daughter that is 14, and a son that is 11! I am sure they would love to email-let me know!

I can hardly believe we are a little more than 6 weeks away from sailing. I think am more excited:yay: than anyone else in my house, for sure. I've spent hours personalizing & printing magnets for our door and just ordered more supplies to finish gifts for the FE exchange. I've been intimidated by all of the amazing gifts on the "homemade FE" thread.

Amy,
We won't be doing any major dressing up for pirate: night. Just the small stuff like eye patches, hoop earrings & mickey ear pirate hats. However, I do love seeing everyone else's creative costumes.

Hello to all! I am looking at joining this cruise. It is totally up in the air and I won't find out until tomorrow - but I wanted to give a heads up to join the FE group.

We are booked for July 22 - double dip cruise, however, after trolling the web, I came aross a discounted rate that would save us quite a bit of money and upgrade us to a balcony room. Now I just have to wait until Monday to see if I can get the two days off that I would need.

We are doing the FE group with the other cruise and I love that about Disney cruises. This cruise is just my husband and myself - we are celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and finally taking our official honeymoon. This will be our very first vacation together without kids in tow.

So...I will let y'all know tomorrow if I can join your merry crew. Would that be too late for FE?

You can either a) post your info here or b) just post 9 more generic one word posts to get up to 10. The deadline was yesterday but if you can give me your info today that should be fine. We do need to cut off at some point though as you can understand many have started or need to start their gift planning now and it depends on the number of participants what they want to do.

Good Evening everyone- the Fish Extender List is now officially CLOSED. Thank you all for signing up, it will surely be lots of fun! We finished out with 22 rooms. I've assigned the days for delivery based on everyone's preferences- of course it is not the end of the world if something comes up and you can't deliver on your assigned day, but if we can all try to do so, it does make it more fun knowing that you'll get a few gifts each day as opposed to a lot on one day and hardly any if at all on another. The new link to the Google file is: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AuVIzUuxho4adFRjX2VjVjBtWXlaZTRRcTBST2l6Q VE

Please review when you get a chance to let me know if I listed anything incorrectly. Dclnut143, I still need your first names and hometown if you choose to list them for gift personalization. As far as tips go, what kinds of questions do you have? I can try to help if you have specific questions in mind.

Saving for the gifts and the cruise so i dont want to spend the $40 or so on the actual fe i have found on ebay. I have no sewing skills so that is out too haha. And what are some good gift ideas? There are some on ebay less than $40 when i searched, but of course then you add tax and shipping. You could always make your own if you are a bit handy, I hand sewed mine which was actually really fun and great to gear up for the cruise. Some people just use regular pocket organizer things like you can find at Target. Others just use a simple bag. It doesn't have to look like a traditional fancy fish extender like the ebay ones if you dont want it to. As far as gift ideas, everyone has individual preferences, me personally I always love stuff I can use like pens, sticky notes, bookmark, magnet, etc. Candy is always a good filler too. But really anything is good, its more the fun of the surprise of coming back to find something than what it actually is.

I am bouncing all over the place with excitement. :hyper: My planning is going into hyperdrive. I feel like there is so much to do! Thank you everyone, I was happy to do the organizing for the FE and I'm so excited we have such a good sized group, not overwhelmingly large but not small either, so it should be great fun over the course of the 5 days.

We are staying at the Yacht Club for a few nights after the cruise. This is our family's traditional hotel, staying here at least a dozen times since our first visit in '96. It really feels like coming "home" to us, that is what I love about Disney, how things get refurbished and improved but the heart of it always stays the same.

We are on board too...me, husband, and sons age 10 and 7, will be on deck 10. Tried to do the Dream last year, but the Army had other plans for my husband...like a nice trip to the desert. Orders came the day before cancellation penalites kicked in.
But...now it appears our Dream will happen! Yippee!

The kids have NO idea. We are not telling them until they figure it out when we get to the port!!! ;)

What days/times are they for? I would be interested. I was really wanting to do high tea, especially since this is the last time we would be able to do it. My husband and I did high tea on our last cruise and really enjoyed it. We were thinking about Remy but have decided against it. We are kind of picky eaters...
Is it just your wife and you going on the cruise?

We are on board too...me, husband, and sons age 10 and 7, will be on deck 10. Tried to do the Dream last year, but the Army had other plans for my husband...like a nice trip to the desert. Orders came the day before cancellation penalites kicked in.
But...now it appears our Dream will happen! Yippee!

The kids have NO idea. We are not telling them until they figure it out when we get to the port!!! ;)

Welcome! I am sure that you are so excited. I am still beaming from booking my trip on Tuesday. We surprised our kids with our first cruise at Disneyland. The entire gang at Minnie's breakfast at the park helped tell them. I was hoping for a big reaction but they just sat there and kept eating breakfast like it was just another day. Ha Ha!

We are at the Pop Century June 1-9 for the second part of our celebratory trip!

(We are heading over to Yacht Club on the Tue night for the Illuminations cruise!)
(Doing the Pirate and Pals on Sat night for Wishes.)

In full out prep mode now. Trying to convince the kids its too early to pack, even though secretly I want to load up the suitcases as badly as they do!

I would love to do an illuminations cruise someday!

We're in full on prep mode too. In fact, I've already started packing! Just our pirate clothes and stuff we don't need at home before we leave.:goodvibes

We went on the Wonder a few years ago and they LOVED it. So much, they would run away from us when we would go to pick them up at the kids club...secretly, we are hoping that will happen again this time too! Right now they think they are going to St. Augustine for Memorial Day weekend.

Hi Claire,
Unfortunately, we closed our FE group almost 2 weeks ago. We did give it a few days leeway but by now we have to stick with our cutoff since many people have told me that they've began and some even finished ordering/making/buying their gifts. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but we hope you understand and surely you will have a wonderful cruise no matter what. One thing that I love doing is decorating my door with magnets, which is really fun and anyone can do it.

I'll probably still pass something little out for the fun of it! Once we find out our room number I'll post it and if anyone has extras, feel free to visit our FE!

Very cool! Where did you find the dcl fabric?

I had it custom made for me! I made two dresses for our cruise in Novemeber with the fabric. This was a little leftover. I have just enough left to make another purse like this.

Here is a picture of the dresses I made.

http://images5a.snapfish.com/232323232%7Ffp6357%3A%3Enu%3D%3A5%3B6%3E33%3A%3E25 8%3EWSNRCG%3D347972%3A652349nu0mrj

No big sewing projects for me this cruise, just a few dresses and purses for me and some FE gifts. Last cruise, I made matching outfits for each of us for all 7 days. Our next cruise on the Fantasy, I will probably do the same thing. I will start sewing for that when I get back from this cruise. My little way of keeping the excitement.

Now, off to call DCL. I gotta get my resort transfers set. My travel agent is convinced I have to go back to the airport from Beach Club to get to the port. I hate when I know more about Disney than the person making my reservations. I should just be a travel agent myself.

Hi Everyone,
Just thought I would share. I called Disney Cruise Line today and got the movies that will be showing during our cruise: Cars 2, The Help, Real Steel, The Muppets, War Horse, John Carter, Chimpanzee, and The Avengers. I'm pretty excited about the Avengers being shown. Hope I can wait to see it on the ship as I hear it is pretty good.
Happy Packing and see you soon!

Sounds like you have a lot to celebrate. My long term plans include NP school. So I will have to talk with your DH.

Most of my FE gifts are done, at least the time consuming ones for the kiddos! Just a few more to put finishing touches on then I will be finished. Packing is going to happen on Wed. 15 more days til I head out on my vacation and I work 10 of them (and those are 12 hour nights, folks.) Not looking foward to the working part, but I am looking foward to the paycheck part!

This is my first post and I am not sure how all of this works! My husband has been reading posts for the past couple of years so we finally decided to join. This will be our 4th Disney Cruise and I can not wait!!!! :cool1: For the past 6 months we have had some much going on in our family and I think it all finally came to a head this past week. In December my dad had a car wreck that he is still recovering from. My mom in January and a really close scare with breast cancer. In Feb my 97 year old aunt fell and broke her hip (she is still doing well!) And then in March my grandmother (who practically raised me) was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. She passed on Friday. Oh yeah, did I mention I was finishing my Masters in Nursing for Family Nurse Practitioner and I have my boards 5/16!! So yes, me and my family are READY!!

Look forward to meeting some folks. I have been trying to read through the posts, but it does get overwhelming!! My husband and I have 2 boys 8 and 10 and they are counting the days as well.
Is it too early to start packing????

I am having my cruise party this Saturday with our kids and grandkids to package all the FE gifts. I am also having a quiz about our ship to earn "Dream Dollars" and "Cruise Cash" We will play some games related and have a pirate themed dinner and dessert. This will be our 3rd cruise, but it has been a couple of years since our last. They have never done it this way before-when did this start? :confused3? I haven't had experience with this, but from reading on the main DCL board on the DIS it sounds like they can be firm with it depending on how many people are arriving at that particular earlier time that you show up. I've read you may have to wait- but not sure if that means wait like 30 mins or a few hours until you scheduled time. You may want to post this specific question on the main thread to get more feedback from anyone who tried this. If the consensus was that people got in earlier or only had to wait less than an hour, I'd probably show up early, but if it sounds like you may end up waiting all the way until your regular time you're probably better of spending the morning doing something else.

Maybe this is a stupid question...hopefully someone can answer...
We have the 8:15 dinner seating, and have a 6 pm Palo reservation. I read on DCL that you skip your regular dining room if you eat at Palo. Granted, I could not eat two meals back to back, but I have 2 kids that need to eat too. Does this mean that we can not show up at our regular dining room that night?

We actually did this once. We had palos but our friends ate at the main room so we went to eat a 2nd dessert with them:) and had a drink and talked with them for dinner. No kids. U can take your kids to the upstairs or quick service places or room service or they can eat dinner at the kids clubs. Theres a ton of options and i bet they would like to skip the main dinner anyway. Something different.

I just heard about fish extenders from a friend who will be departing the Dream as we board. Oh well, I'll know next time but will still make one to hang for fun! Is anybody else travelling with teens? We will be in room #5515 - Melissa, Andrew & Kevin Clark

Do we have any kids (or teens!) that are Harry potter fans? Thinking of doing a fun HP themed FE gift. (don't get me wrong-we are die-hard Disney fans, but we do have a place in our hearts for HP too!!) :) let me know-I may just do them for who would like them!

My little one (Fletcher) loves HP--and of course we do, too! Anything HP themed would be great.

Welcome- you missed the official signup for the FE but I did add your info to the google spreadsheet so you can still hang up a fish extender and anyone who has extra gifts and wants to bring some can do so. We have another family who also missed the cutoff and is doing the same thing.

The books are way better than the movies!! The Kingdom Keeper books (Ridley Pearson) are good too for any Disney fanatics.

We missed the FE cut off too, but ARRRGGGHHHH FE will be on display, room 10006. :)

Thanks so much everybody! Altho' I've been going to DisneyWorld since 1972 when my parents took me, there is always so much "Disney" to learn with each new experience! Among our "firsts" this year has been attending 3 Disney half marathons and one will take us to Disneyland for the first time!

I am thinking about doing the Disneyland 1/2 marathon this year. I have to decide tomorrow!!! I am going to do the Tinkerbell 1/2 marathon next Jan. Got my hotel reservations set and my phone set to remind me to register the day it opens.

My husband and I are going to run the Castaway Cay 5K the first Castaway day if they offer it. It will be our first 5K and the 1/2 marathon will be my first as well. I will do ANYTHING for an excuse to go to Disney. Even run 13.1 miles!:scared1:

a 5K at Castaway Cay - didn't know anything about that! Thanks for telling us! Kevin did the Disney World half this past Januay and will do the Goofy in 2013 as he turns 18 in December. He is running the Disneyland Half in September as his early grad. present and we both will do the Wine & Dine in November. I hadn't run competively since high school. He's really stretching me out of my comfort zone, so I understand!

Found the spreadsheet and printed it out and realized I needed to give our hometown - Fayetteville, NC. As for an exchange date, we're just happy to be included. Thanks for organizing this! We look forward to sailing again and being prepared like pros!

I added your hometown. We pass by Fayetteville on our way down 95 driving from Jersey to Florida...any suggestions for a good lunch place not far off the 95 exit? we usually hit a ruby tuesday or applebees but I'm always up for a local suggestion!

Hi, Nicole! There is a Cracker Barrel at one of the Fayetteville exits - Exit 49 on the west side of I-95. Fullers BBQ is off exit 56 coming down business 95 & 301. A little further south in Lumberton is Friendly's at Exit 22 on the east side of the freeway. There are alot of enthic restaurants in Fayetteville due to the military but they are a bit off the freeway. I have a cousin in Collingswood and friends in the area that I visit.
Enjoy & have a safe trip!

My husband did the 5K on our first cruise, and yes, they just had a designated meeting spot (time was in the a.m. shortly after the ship docked at CC). A CM met them and took them on the jog, and he said it was pretty laid back--not like a race or anything. Now, this was almost 3 years ago, so things could have changed a bit . . .

And, I just have to say--we're a week out from leaving! :cool1:
We're driving down Friday afternoon/evening (the 25th) as soon as my son gets out of school and doing one park day on Saturday. Can't wait! :dance3:

We've never been to the parks when it was crazy crowded, like it's supposed to be that day, so this will be a new experience for us! I'm hoping that with hitting MK early, taking an afternoon break, and having some kind of touring plan, we'll have a good time, even with the crowds!

Maybe you'll get lucky since a lot of people will be going to Hollywood Studios that day for Star Wars Weekends! (which is also VERY worth going to if you are Star Wars fans). But if it is still crowded at MK just make good use of the fast passes and you'll still have a great time!

We decided not to go to a park on Sat when we are there. We are just going to hang out at DTD and the Boardwalk. I was afraid that it was going be busy. It is getting closer! I am finishing up packing today and I have 4 more nights of work before I leave. :cool1:

We went to the parks over memorial weekend last year. As off season veterans, I was also worried about the crowds-it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be! As was stated, use the fast passes, and you will have a great time.

Been working on mine awhile, but just finished mine, too--glad it's not just me!

In case anyone is curious, I just checked the website and it looks like rooms are still available in several categories. Of course I don't know how many rooms are open, but maybe this means that the cruise won't be packed to the gills.

We've only been on the Wonder, so I'm interested to see how much more crowded the Dream will feel. I know we'll have fun no matter what!

I got in around 1:30 this morning from a visit to the U. S. Coast Guard Academy, my flights were delayed with that system off of South Carolina, mixed with equipment issues....now to interview a potential Chemistry instructor and THEN....it's time to get in Disney Dream mode! Somehow in the middle my son is hoping we can get up to Birmingham and catch a couple of the SEC Baseball Tournament games....War Eagle from me and Go Dawgs from him!

I am a convert too! Grew up a Bama fan, then spent a year at UF :confused3. Finally transferred to Auburn  (of course there was a boy involved who I eventually married, and we are celebrating our 20th anniversary on this cruise!) The Baptist preacher that I grew up with (Auburn fan) said that I had truly been saved when I transferred to Auburn :goodvibes Ha ha! I'm sure my DH will sport an Auburn shirt on the ship, so if you see us yell 'War Eagle'! And room 6136 will have Auburn and Georgia door magnets.

How funny. My family were all Auburn fans but I lived in GA and got a scholarship to UGA. When I went to Auburn for grad school I wasn't converted back immediately--there was a boy involved in mine, too. He slowly pulled me in the "right" direction! :lmao:

We got married at the Auburn chapel, and almost 14 years later here we are!

I totally didn't think about Auburn door magnets--what's wrong with me?? ;) I must go try and find some today! (We'll be in 5026)
