FISH EXTENDER EXCHANGE SIGN-UP
Leslie (Disney52303) has volunteered to keep track of the people who would like to participate in the fish extender exchange list. There will be one group for both those who signed up on the Disboards and Facebook. Leslie will keep the list and send it out to or post it for everyone. If the list gets too big, Leslie will split the list. Deadline for signing up is February 22, 2012. The deadline is set so those who are making homemade gifts will know how many to make it & those ordering gifts will know how many to order.

Participating in the Fish Extender Exchange is completely optional. Feel free to do or spend whatever you're comfortable with. As for the Fish Extender itself, some people buy them, others want to make theirs, whatever you choose is fine. The same rule applies to the "goodies"! You can buy or make them!

What is a fish extender exchange?
If you're not familiar with what a fish extender exchange is, check out these links:

DIS MEET
One has not been scheduled? Is anyone interested in meeting while onboard? Let me know the date and time and I will post it here.

PORT CAMERAS
Some people like to view the Disney ships as they leave port. So, if anyone is interested in watching, here are the port cameras:

Port Canaveral Webcam (http://www.portcanaveral.com/webcam.htm)
Two Palms Webcam (http://www.twopalms.com/)
Ron Jon Resort Webcam (http://www.ronjonresort.com/beachcam.aspx)
Cocoa Beach - Port Canaveral Webcam (http://cocoabeachsurf.com/BeachCam1.htm)

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When can I book excursions, reservations at Palo/Remy, and/or register the kids for the kids' clubs?

120 days before the sail date if you are a Platinum Castaway Club Member (sailed with DCL 10 or more times)
105 days before the sail date if you are a Gold Castaway Club Member (sailed with DCL 5 or more times)
90 days before the sail date if you are a Silver Castaway Club Member (sailed with DCL once before)
75 days before the sail date for everyone

What is the dinner schedule?
Dinner Schedule: 4/15 = Formal Night, 4/17 = Prince & Princess, 4/18 = Pirate Night, & 4/19 = Semi Formal Captain's Gala (Lobster night). Thank you Robert for posting this.

Can I ship boxes to the ship ahead of the cruise? If so, how?
You are able to ship boxes to the ship before the cruise. So, if you have fish extender gifts or other things that you do not want to lug with you on the plan, then definitely ship a box ahead of time.
• ONE box per stateroom, no exceptions.
• The package must have the guest full name, ship, sailing date, stateroom number or GTY if you have not been assigned a stateroom number.
• The package also must have a packing slip attached to the outside of the box that details the contents of the package. For prescriptions, a copy of the prescription is sufficient. Your list may or may not be read but it must have one. Write packing slip on the outside of the envelope.
• NO FOODS/DRINKS OF ANY KIND, LIQUOR OF ANY KIND, FIREARMS, ETC.. Items that cannot be shipped to the Disney Cruise Line Warehouse and delivered to the ship include: food products (any and all food products including baby food/formula), beverages (liquor, water, etc.), chemicals, and luggage. These items will not be accepted at the warehouse and will be returned. This may cause the dogs to hit on your box and that would be a bad thing.
• The required size of the cartons you are shipping down have to be about the size of a record storage box 12 inches on a side and should not weigh more than 20 lbs.

Address your package(s) to:
Disney Cruise Line Warehouse
Guest Name / Stateroom # (GTY, if you don't know what it is when you send the package)
8633 Transport Drive
Orlando, FL 32832
Phone: 407-566-8196

In the bottom left corner of the top of the package put the following information:
ATTN: HOUSEKEEPING
*Name
*Sail Date
*Ship
*Stateroom Number
*Packing slip that details contents of the package (for prescriptions, a copy of the prescription is sufficient)
• Packages must arrive by Friday by 3:00pm for the 7-Night Cruise.

If your box is hit on by the screening dog or chosen for additional screening they will open the list and the box and look through it. They will close it back up and provided nothing bad is in it then it will be in your room as usual later after boarding. These boxes will be coming on the ship with the crew mail among other things so they may be in the staterooms later then they were before as they are low priority in the scheme of things for Disney.

Whatever else you want me to add to this post last me know. I plan on keeping it updated. For example, if people are staying at a resort before and/or after the cruise, I can post it here. If people are interested in linked dining someone can spearhead that and I will post the names of those interested here. I can also post stateroom assignments. As I said, this thread is what you make it. Let the ideas flow. Let the chatting begin.

We are from Billerica, MA. Right next door to the previous post in Chelmsford.
Looks like we will have children aroudn the same ages, at least two of my daughters will be 11, and 9. Then I have littler ones.

We are going to start looking as soon as possible for airfare too. I am going to try and be flexible, maybe leave a day earlier to get into FLA, or go home a day or two after if we have to.

Billerica did not come out with their schedule yet either. I am as sure as I can be that it is school vacation week. We always have it the week of Patriots Day, and this is the week.

Lets hope it is. They usually start next years schedule within a month or so.

Yeah, that's the logic I used too (Patriots Day week). We called the school & asked but they said they can't say for sure for 2012 as that school calendar hasn't been determined yet. Just my luck the ONE year I book a cruise they change it! ;)

Anyways, my kids (all boys) will be 10, 5 and 2 turning 3 when we cruise. I'm so glad I check this today. Hubby mentioned something about taking a cruise for Christmas 2011 I went on to tell him how much $$ it would cost and noticed this had opened up. I was pleasantly surprised at the prices, I figured april vacation would already be insane!

We are booked on deck 10. This will be mine, hubby and oldest 3rd DCL trip. I was pregnant w/middle son on our last one.

Just a rough estimate from reading those that put the number of family members traveling and signatures, there are at least 36 MA people going and I personally know of 8 more. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge about booking a charter flight or group sales??? And who would be interested??

I can tell you we did a big family vacation for Thanksgiving to Disney (15 of us) & we flew Airtran there, Delta back & the discount was minimal at best....$5-$10/ticket. But I think my group of 8 would be interested if we could find some sort of deal.

the discount was minimal at best....$5-$10/ticket. .

Doesn't sound too promising. :confused3 I wish I had the option to purchase airfare from DCL, it takes all the anxiety out of searching for the best fares. Especially since it is school vacation week, they like to jack up the prices then. Last time we cruised, I had to purchase 4 tickets on 3 separate itineraries for the best fares. Then I had to stress over whether there would be any flight schedule changes and the possibility of our itineraries being separated.:scared1:

I was saying that earlier to my aunt (whose family is also going). I suggested that even though DCL usually charges a high airfare....it still may be cheaper than what we end up with on Apr vacation week! Why wouldn't you be able to add that in later? Do they not allow that after the fact?

That $526 includes your $70 round trip transfers. It still is a $456 plane ticket. I think you can stalk the airlines and see how the prices are running and always decide to purchase from DCL if that is a better deal. The cruise line also has a limited number of seats/fares from certain departure cities and they can sell out. Boston always seems to be one of the departure cities that sells out.
The last time we went (feb 09) my BIL reserved airfare through DCL (with the travel agent) but was not committed until the final payment. He had the option to purchase on his own if he found a better deal...which he didn't.

Oh.....hmmmm, $456 sounds reasonable considering I've been pricing out airfare for this April vaca wk & it's $250+ each way!!! now I am thinking I should maybe book it & if a better deal comes out I'll cancel.:confused3

Ouch!! I was going to look at it, so I didn;t have to pay transfer fees. we fly out of manchester (preferably) but i'm sure it'd be similar.

in the past we have rented a car and driven to port, but at that point we had one in a booster seat (just the part you sit on no back) this time we'll have one in that and one in regular car seat. hate having to lug the seats..but then again feel safer w/them in them for the drive.

:scared1::scared1::eek::eek: yikes! i don't want it to come to that! that is why you need to book airfare early. As soon as the fares are published, you need to check them out and keep looking every day, multiple times per day. This is what I did for our Feb vacation cruise. It was painful. I am considering talking to a travel agent to see if they can watch the fares and book for me when the price drops below a certain point.
and BTW, I drove home from the Outer Banks this past summer...16 1/2 hrs. and we only hit traffic in NYC.

Talk about going crazy-- My family + my parents went on the Transatlantic Cruise in April. I had to find the best airfare on our one-way tickets home from Barcelona! Disney wanted almost 3X what I ended up booking the 2 one-way tickes for (JFK- MCO & then Barcelona to JFK)!!! Their price was insane!

I ended up doing that one year just to MCO from Boston & back. Instead of R/T I did one way searches & got it MUCH cheaper. Well at least there is enough of us that we can keep each other informed on the "deals" if we find them. I know I'll be stalking the airlines as soon as the prices come out!!;)

Too funny... I JUST said the same thing to my husband last night! I am in the process of booking airfare for our "back-2 back" Dream cruises in June/ July. There are 4 of us traveling on 3 different itineraries! Cruise #1 is me, ds & Mom... then Mom goes home & Dh joins us for cruise #2 before heading to WDW for a week at Bay Lake Towers! I booked 1-way flights for all of us-- Worked out cheaper than ANY R/T itineraries I was offered. Talk about looking suspicious... 4 people & 8 1-way flights! :lmao:

yeah, the whole airfare thing really gets me mad!! It will not cost them any more money to fly that week vs. any other week yet they can justify jacking the price up to $600 for a R/T ticket.:scared1: I mean really?? I can see making prices a little more expensive, but doubling and, in some cases, tripling airfare prices is just wrong!:confused3

Good Morning everyone. I see we have a strong MA contingent. We have decided that we will be driving instead of flying. I know we are much closer than MA but airfare is still crazy for the three of us. To get a cheaper flight, we would need to drive north to Philadelphia and then fly to MCO. :headache: We have driven the past two times and the drive is about 14 hours for us so really not that bad. I hope all of you find some good deals when it is time to book your flights.

REALLY looking forward to this trip! But I don't want to have to do the driving if I don't have to...

I just checked Jet Blue for this week's April vacation: almost $600pp one way.

What about hiring a party bus??? I actually have a friend who arranges golf vacations and am going to call him to see if he has any connections.

Chelmsford and Billerica families...we're just 1/2 hour down 495 from all of you at the junction of 495 and 290!

We have three girls, ages at sailing will be 14, 14, and 16.

Sooooooo.....what was your opinion on the Dream? Getting a little nervous reading some posts on the main cruise boards:confused:. Just don't want to feel "crowded". Which we never did on the Magic. Very excited about going on a new ship though!!

I loved the Dream! Didn't feel crowded at all. It should feel to you EXACTLY like on the Magic, just bigger. If you are cruising on a holiday cruise or some other event cruise, I can believe it might feel crowded. Most of reviews I've seen are from the MV or other earlier cruise. Those were filled to capacity and everyone was trying to be first, get at the same thing first, etc... Not pretty I'm sure. Our cruise was more normal. Only in the shopping area did I notice crowds and that was just after a show let out.

Quick thoughts on the Dream:
- It's a beautiful ship. Makes you proud to be on her next to other ships. Walking around her, she leaves you speechless. Or in my case only able to say "Wow!"

- I like where Shutters has moved to and the new viewing system. Much more civilized than the hunt and shove on the original ships. Two points of interest:
1. You have to take the photo as you're boarding or you can't use Shutters once on board. It "opens" your account/folder.
2. On your channel guide you'll see something called Screensaver if I'm remembering correctly. It's all of your photos playing on your tv! :)

- I'm not a pool person but the adult pool is very small if your a swimmer. The whole pool is more designed For lounging than anything. Some people liked it better others hated it. Personal choice. Also, though the Donald pool is smaller from what I hear, the fact that it is next to the Mickey pool makes it great for the whole family to be together.

- Who ever got the brilliant idea to put the sports deck over Palo's should be shot. Depending on your dining location during brunch you can hear people playing basketball above you. Didn't stop my good time but was occasionally distracting. Better soundproofing will do the trick though.

- Having the aft elevator open inside Cabanas is weird or convenient depending on your point of view.

- I don't have children but did get a chance to peek at the updated kids clubs... WOW! So jealous! And the fact that the counselors come and get the kids for you during the second dining seating must be a relief for parents wanting to have some adult time.

- The District is fantastic! Each space is unique and well thought out. Mom and I looked forward each night to trying a new club.

- Every cast member I met, if they weren't over the top wonderful in some way, always had at least a smile and a pleasant "Good morning" as I walked by. How could you not be in a good mood when met with a Disney smile?

- This is a brand new boat with lots of new features, new cast members, and new challenges. The cast members were amazing, working with the guests and each other to make the trip a happy one. It also helps if you don't take yourself and situations too seriously.

I hope to find a moment to write a trip report later but if you have the Disney spirit, you're going to have a fabulous time. On the 4/14 Fantasy trip you won't miss my mom and I. We'll be the two spending most of the cruise laughing and smiling every chance we can get.

I am sistert's mom and totally agree. If you get on board looking for a problem, you will find it. The service and staff was up to Disney standards and some times better. When the server had to use a map to find our table and we were all over the restaurant that first night, we thanked him for the tour and we all fell out laughing. If you get strung out on something like this , then you are missing out.

Well, if all goes as planned, you guys can add ANOTHER family from the north east to this sailing! :cheer2:

We live in CT and although our school has not yet announced the calendar for next year, a few very close neighboring cities have and their vacation week is the week of April 14th so we are praying that is what our school ends up doing. We are guessing that they will work to line them all up ... I guess we will see soon enough. We have taken 3 Disney cruises in the past and were waiting for a western on one of the new ships. We might be jumping the gun just a little bit until the date is confirmed ... but we are just too excited to stay away! :jumping1: We had a dummy date reservation so I moved it to this sailing just in case since it was filling up so fast. We were able to score the same room we were in on the Magic ... we loved the location and it's just about the same on the Fantasy.

We are a family of 4 - I will be 40 princess:at the time of the cruise, my DH:firefight will be 44, DS pirate:will be 22 and DD  will be 14.

Has anyone here been on a Western yet? We are excited for the ports. We've done an Eastern w/Disney and two 3-days into the Bahamas w/Disney also. Just can't stay away!

Looking forward to STAYING on this sailing and getting to know everyone!!

Welcome!!

I've started to look at trip reports too ... particularly from the MV. This sailing is I think the 2nd or 3rd so I know there are tons of things that could come up as a result of being so close to the MV ... just hoping that they take whatever happened on the Dream and make sure it doesn't happen for us on the Fantasy!

i am concerned about that too! dont want anything unexpected to come up!

I wouldn't worry about it. We did the second Dream cruise and mom and I LOVED IT! There were a few hiccups but nothing trip ruining. Actually we laughed about those moments and went on with our fun or simply ignored it. Disney is a company like any other company, not Gods (though as much fun as I have at WDW and on the boats, I feel like I should give thanks to the Mouse all the time). :worship:

Most of the problems I saw were actually caused by the "guests". A guest mad because the sushi wasn't being offered in Cabanas on the day they were there. A guest mad because the didn't have a working scanner at the gift shop on deck 11. Oh the horror that they had to write the ticket out manually. :sad2:

Our trip is either the second or third trip of the Fantasy. There may be some issues but seriously, I just wouldn't worry about it spoiling your trip. The cast members will do everything within their power to make sure you have a fab time!

Hi All

We're booking for this cruise....just need a lil help deciding on whether to use DVC points and pay for my DS10 or rent points and go on cash. It's five of us...me DH DD(16) DS(15) AND DS (11) - looking at cat. 4b. Anyone ever rent out points instead of paying with points?

Thanks for your help:surfweb:

We were guessing what vacation week our district would have as the April break and we really took a chance on booking this week since it's still not announced yet and we booked a month ago! :rolleyes1

Well, the woman at the Board of Ed must have gotten sick of me calling because today she says, "well, if you have a minute I can get the file and take a look and see what is drafted" (and I'm thinking "duh, I've been calling for about 6 weeks, what's 2 more minutes"???)... and it looks like on ALL draft copies, the April break IS THIS WEEK!!!! :worship: :woohoo: I am so excited that it worked out that way!! She said that this is not likely to be one of the items that could change. We've already done an Eastern on the Magic so this was the best possible scenario and this has just totally made my day!!! :cloud9:

If anyone is interested, on past meet threads, I have keep running track of the families that will be in attendance if you guys would like me to do that again, I am more than willing. I usually show it something like this with the ages at the time of the cruise:

DisneyMomforLife - DW(Kat,40), DH(Phil,43), DS(Shawn,22), DD(Gabi,14) from Norwalk, CT.

That way you can see and try to connect with people who are either closer in age to you or to your kids. I have had my daughter email with girls her age and they are best friends by the time the cruise comes around. I can also add any other info you'd like to see such as 'first time cruisers' or 'kid-free cruise'. Just let me know!!

If anyone would like to participate, please PM me your info and I will get a list started.

As for the FE, we have participated in only one before ... we would be willing to do it again but we could also do without if that's the majority consensus.

Ok, now to go back and read the entire thread again since we are confirmed on this cruise!! Hope everyone is starting to enjoy this bit of sunshine we are getting.

:yay::chat:

We employed a very scientific method for choosing our stateroom - I like very simple even numbers and we had 6116 on the Magic and loved the location so we scouted out 6116 on the Fantasy and it was in just about the same location so we took it. LOL. Definitely the easy way out. It was actually an upgraded cat on the Fantasy - a deluxe family verandah so since we were using a dummy onboard rebooking we had a 10% discount that actually made the price for the upgrade well worth it.

Any and all changes to the list have been made. Thanks everyone!!

So, what port is everyone excited about for this cruise? We have never been to Mexico and I am excited about them all!! I LOVE the water (although, strangely, I can't swim, lol) ... Gabi wants to be a marine biologist when she grows up so she's going to love it. She's an amazing self-taught swimmer and she loves snorkeling as well.

I guess Disney used to go to Costa Maya a while ago and that when we go, we will be at the beginning of them going again so that is exciting. I had been trying to find info on the port and posted in the main boards on it and got a lot of great info if anyone is interested, here is the link. In the thread, there is a link for a tour company that looks like they have a great reputation - I think I am going to book a tour with them on my own.

Here's the link!

He wil eventually end up in Germany and will be bringing the Fantasy over in March 2012 and will be the cruise director on the Fantasy once she is sailing!"

Isn't it so sad how even when you are on a disney cruise, you still get those people who just insist on being so intense all the time?

I remember one time at Disney when this parent was getting so anygry that their child was hot, cranky, sweaty and crying at high noon in Magic Kingdom in late April and I was just like, "hey, it's the happiest place on Earth, remember?" Take the kid back to the hotel and let them diffuse for a while. It's all what you make it and I intend on making it everything that I possibly can!!!

I just booked this cruise for my daughter's (17) last "spring break with Mom"/Happy High School Graduation gift. Her best friend (17) will also be with us. My daughter could pick any trip and the Fantasy was her first choice. We did the Disney Wonder when she was in 3rd grade and loved it. The teens can't wait to hit the teen club and I can't wait to hit the adult area/spa. We live in the snow belt of NY State (187 inches so far this fall/winter/spring) so we are already counting the days to next Spring Break. We are huge Disney fans and have shared many special times in WDW. Can't wait!!!!!!

on our first cruise, it was offered as an excursion through a private company. however, that was not in grand cayman. We were on the eastern carribean, docked in st thomas and ferried over to st. john where we got to swim with the dolphins. In that conversation, he said he was in a meeting where Brent accepted the job of Cruise Director for the Fantasy. He also said he wants to be Brent's "right hand man". Apparently many people want to work with Brent. But Darin was his assistant on the Magic for a few years, so he hopes he gets to be Brent's assistant on the Fantasy. That would be a good team!

Getting close to the one year mark!

Welcome and hello to all of the new members!! I will be making the list updates soon. Once they are done, please refer back to post #116 on page 8 and let me know what else you would like added!

So is anyone super excited about the announcement for the Magic coming to NY next summer? I have to say, I'm not too thrilled. I will probably get myself onto at least one of the 2-night "no where" cruises just to be on the ship. I can't wait to drive down the West Side Highway in NYC and see that ship there!!

Hope that everyone is well despite this horrible weather!!

We will be on this cruise. It will be DH and I and DD who will be 10 and DS who will be 8. We've been to WDW several times but this is our first Disney Cruise. We are a bit nervous as DH and I took a Carnival 7 Night in 2001 and hated it. I am optimistic that we will find Disney more to our liking.

Never cruised any other line & this'll be our 3rd DCL cruise. But, I remember flying home from our 1st one & recognizing someone on our flight home had also been on our cruise. We started talking about how great it was & how it was our 1st. She said that she had been on other lines & DCL had now officially ruined all the other cruiselines for her forever!:goodvibes Anytime I consider the possibility of cruising w/ another line, I hear that comment in my head. So DCL will probably be the only one I'll ever do.

:banana: So, just reading the main cruise thread and noticed someone mentioned that DCL had a lot of complaints about the pools on the Dream. Particularly the Quiet Cove i assume?. They said the page originally on DCL's webpage describing the pools with pics is gone. So I checked it out and they're right. This is what is on the bottom of the page for the Fantasy Quiet Cove........."Disney Cruise Line is currently putting the finishing touches on Quiet Cove Pool. Be sure to check back here soon to discover even more of the magic that's in store for you and your entire family during a one-of-a-kind Disney cruise vacation"
Very curious to see what they do???

Hello Everyone!!! Finally coming out of hiding to introduce myself. We booked this cruise when it first opened up but had to convince DH to do it. We just got off a B2B cruise on the Dream and had a fabulous time!!! The ship was amazing, the staterooms are gorgeous, the beds are so comfortable. Not everything was perfect but the good definitely outweighed the bad.

When we talked to our server at Palo she said the Fantasy will be about 95% the same as the Dream. They will make some small changes based on what they have discovered now that the Dream is sailing in full force.

We will be staying in a cat. 8B which is a deluxe family oceanview, we have the same exact room we had on the Dream, we were happy with the size and very happy with the location.

Cruising will be me (DW), DH, DS 11/12, DD 10, DS 8 (the ages are all at the time of sailing. Can't wait!!!

The ship is gorgeous!!!! I am totally missing the super comfy beds and covers, not those old yucky spreads from the Wonder!
The Sea Bass from Enchanted Garden was my favorite meal, perhaps not my favorite restaurant but boy was that good!!! There will always be a line for the AquaDuck, the most I ever waited was about 30 minutes. I LOVED this ride, not exactly heart-pounding but soooooo fun!!! See the show Believe, it was wonderful, brought a tear to my eye. Play Bingo in the D Lounge, a family favorite. There are lots of lounge chairs on Deck 13 on the family side, not as crowded. Play mini golf with Goofy, have a mango-strawberry margarita (even the virgin is delicious).

Anything specific questions????

Thank you for sharing. How was the embarkation process? Did you select an arrival time when you did onlin check-in? Did you always go to your assigned show time? How were the lines going into the restaurants?

We selected the 11:00-11:30 check-in time but arrived at the port around 10:15 ish. We waited in line with everyone waiting to get past the security gate, once inside we filled out the health form and got in the Castaway Cay line, as we got into line we were given Boarding Pass #12. While we were checking in I asked if our Boarding # should correlate to our check-in time, he said yes and that we actually were supposed to be #7, which he changed on our pass and sent us on our way!

They have changed the show and dining times on the Dream. The shows were 6:15 and 8:30 and dining times were 5:45 and 8:15. We had the 8:15 seating so we went to the early show. Yes, there were lines for dinner that were ridiculous!!! After the first night we never even went down to dinner till about 8:20 and just caught the tail end of the line going into the dining rooms. It looked like the 5:45 seating didn't have many lines, probably because it's pretty early and people had a hard time leaving the fun on the ship!!!!

Hi! We are from central mass! The Dream was just great which is why we want to do the Fantasy. As far as any tips go...

- Bring your own blow dryer - the ones they have are lousy
- Save your glass if you buy a drink on deck - then they charge you less for the next drink
- If you don't have an excursion planned in Nassau, don't bother getting off. It is very dirty and there are lots of seedy people. I was just waiting to get my bag snagged. We would not get off the boat here again. Our friends, who we met at dinner, had the same experience we did and feel the same way.
- Keep an open mind about sitting with other people. We have a great experience and know that these people will be friends for a looonnng time.

When do you go?

Check your rates again. I was looking at fares through kayak and when I clicked though the link to the Continental website from all of the airports we fly out of the rate was much cheacher than Kayak was showing. They had flights out of Bradley for $99 on 4/13. I also say $141 out of Albany NY. $153 Burlington VT and $158 from Manchester NH. I am thinking even though Bradley is over three hours away we might fly from there. For some reason none of these rates carried over to Kayak.

Checked again yesterday and Continental had a fare from Providence for $117 one way, and Boston for $114 one way. Tried to book, couldnt! Was on the phone for a 1/2 hour waiting for customer support. When I got through, I was told it was because it was more than 337 in the future. Checked when i got off the phone, and it was exactly 336 days:sad2:. So checked website AGAIN this morning, price was up to $174 one way from Providence. Still not bad for April vaca week. Tried to book, again, couldn't. Called Customer support and was told it may have something to do with the Continental/United merger & that they were updating their website this weekend. Was told to "keep trying". I was SO mad:mad:. Told her, while I know its not her fault, Continental should honor the price on THIER website! Don't post fares, that you have NO intention on honoring. Not happy! Have never booked Continental before, and after this experience, will probably never book them in the future!

Logan is just so much more convenient than TF Green for us & we prefer Jet Blue nothing against Southwest! TF Green is really easy to get into & out of never crowded.

Already booked Jet Blue for December & Spirit for February out of Logan waiting for Jet Blue to release it's fares through 4/2012.

Southwest is releasing its fares through 1/4/2012 on May 24th!

Will not fly Oldline carrier's if I can help it!

You can count us in for the FE gifts as well!! DH and I did this the first time in March and loved all the neat things. It was exciting to come back to the room and see that we had mail!

The usual cut off for joining in is usually 30 days out from the sail date, from what I can tell. One person usually is the FE coordinator and has a list of families and cabin #'s of those who are participating that gets sent or handed to everyone so you know where you are delivering to and to how many.

We had to cancel our cruise because the school district decided to change our April vacation - it is now the week of the maiden voyage:confused3 We are so very disappointed:confused: Trying to figure out another time to go but with high school sports we're having a hard time.

Well I hope you all enjoy! Can't wait to read some trip reports.

I have been checking all the flights from Boston, Providence and Hartford to Orlando and the surrounding airports. I was looking for the cheapest I could find. And it hasn’t been looking promising. I have been checking Delta as each day becomes available, but as each day gets closer to April 14th the prices keep going up. I’m too afraid to wait until Jetblue and Southwest start selling there seats.

I found a flight and booked tickets on Delta that leaves Providence (PVD) at 6:02 PM (flight 1112) transfers in Atlanta (flight 1070) and arrives in Jacksonville (JAX) at 11:58 PM on Friday April 13th. It is about a 3 hour drive to Port Canaveral. I check and you can do a one way car rental from JAX to Port Canaveral. The price with tax was $110.40 per person for the flight.

Just wanted to let everyone know in case anybody was interested.

Now all we need is a flight back!

I booked Delta to from Boston on 12/12. 174.50 per person. If we did stops it would have been less, but with 4 kids that wasn't an option. I really wanted to come in Thursday night or Friday morning, but it was WAY more money. So Thursday morning it is! I knew I had to be flexible.

this is so stressing me out!! :scared1: might be worth it to bite the bullet and buy airfare through DCL. rising prices, when to buy, checking prices, waiting for other airlines....too much stress!!:scared1:
to make it worth your while to book your own airfare, the entire round trip ticket must be under $450, including taxes. it is not looking good.......

Will DCL refund your money if you decide to cancel the flight portion? If they will, then I would book the flight through them and then try to get a cheaper flight from Jetblue or Southwest later. Also is that price direct and what are the baggage fees?

Yes, but I booked through DVC, not sure IF I were able to book airfare through DCL, if I would have the option to cancel.:confused3 and the airfare includes transfers. When I last checked, it was $526pp including transfers.

We got 4/13 flights out of Bradley on American Airlines today for $99. With taxes and fees it was about $120 PP. It is a 7:20 AM flight with a 2 hour layover in Chicago and arriving just before 3 PM in MCO. Now just need to keep a look out for the return flight.

Delta had a fight out of Hartford for Thurs 2/12 with 1 stop for $98 one way. Unfortunately flying out Thursday is not an option for us unless it's late Thursday.

Hi guys! I been out for a long time, going crazy at work. :headache:

I been looking for airfare too. Im trying to find something for Friday night but still nothing. I do have airfare reserve with DCL it was close to $420 per person, but that include transportation. I will be waiting for Jet Blue.

I was reading today the DCL press release for the Fantasy, there are some cool changes going on. I like the Animator's Palate idea but my daughter wanted to see Crush, I know she will miss him. Im also excited for the BB boutique and the Pirate's League. :cool1:

here is the link in case anyone havent read the full release.

I do not know, what did they remove to add the BB boutique/Pirates league?
Which is just another profit center for DCL!:scared1:

Still waiting to hear about pool changes? Cruise Critic posted about this latest press release from DCL & lamented about the size of the pools on the Dream & that nothing was mentioned on the Fantasy's pools yet!

Love the lobby/atrium pics. Pretty color palate.

I also think that the Animator's Palate concept is really neat. I had heard that the Crush thing on Dream was not working due to sound levels etc.

My kids were excited about the Pirate League concept onboard as we had a great experience at the one at WDW. DD is not interested in Bibbity Bobbity Boutique. She has done it twice at WDW. Then I was reading the description of the Pirate League and it does not seem like it will be the same as one land. I did not see mention of the face painting, just tattoo scars. Not sure if it will be worth it.

If they do have the face painting onboard make sure you bring something to take it off as it is theatrical make -up and hard to remove. The put it on very close to the eye and we could not get it all off DS. He spent the week looking like Adam Lambert! He loved the look but I am sure most boys might have a problem looking like they were wearing make-up.

I was able to get a return flight Saturday April 21st on Delta leaving Melbourne (MLB) at 6 pm arriving PVD at 11 pm. I started looking for flights at 12:30 am this morning. I was having problems with the web site. It took over an 1 1/2 to finally book the flight. The price was $145.40 per person which includes tax. They still have that flight available in case anyone is looking for a return flight home.

IM HERE!! IM ALIVE. Everything is well in my house. But the tornado touched five blocks from my house. Downtown Springfield is total destruction. A lot of our schools got damage. Houses destroyed and some buildings gone. I had never experience a tornado and it was super scary. I felt some shaking in my house but we where on the basement. A lot of friends got hit one way or another. But we are fine and my house didnt got hit.

I think this was one of the scariest situation I had ever experience.

Hi all,
Another MA family checking in. Glad I found this post. Haven't even thought about airfare, but guess I need to start thinking about it. My DD (6) has a peanut allergy, so southwest is out for us (still serving peanuts on flights).
Anyone know about the other carriers with peanuts???
Jet blue is my kids favorite, but usually see prices like 299 down and 399 back per person direct flights. (nonstops a must for my DW)
There are 4 of us, me, DW, DS(10), DD(6).
Also joining us, DBIL, DSIL, DNEP(16?), DNIE(11).
I also heard another family might be joining us too with 2 girls around 11/12 area.

I don't have anything in front of me, but I believe we will be mid on level 8 right at the elevators.

Where in MA are you from. A couple of things.. my oldest will be 10 on the cruise (boy). my youngest has nut allergies and we have flown SW w/out a problem. You notify them ahead of time, notify them at check in and notify them when you preboard. You will get a blue sleeve for at least the child +1, so you can go in and clean down your area. I cleaned entire row, including walls, etc.. they will not serve nuts on the flight and most of the time they have made announcement that there was a nut allergy on the flight.

Hi! My DD (10) is allergic to peanuts as well and we have flown Southwest and USAir without any problem at all and we didn't even tell them she was allergic. USAir, which we flew in April of this year, didn't even offer us a snack. (We were not on a direct flight (much to my chagrin - last time that will happen ) though.)

To answer your question, we are from Taunton.
We too have flown SW with no problems without telling anyone about her allergy, but the DW just doesn't trust them. She just has that feeling, so SW is not an option for us anymore. We've driven to FL I believe 4 times now, so that's always an options, I don't mind the drive.
So, where are all the other MA families from???

I got non-stop Delta on Thursday morning, I beleive it was about 164.00 or so. I think we are going to stay at Disney's Vero Beach for 2 nights before the cruise.
Still looking for flights home. Non-stops are really high, so I am holding out for my favorite JetBlue.

Going to be a great group of Dis'ers on this cruise!!

I've finally updated the list ... please find the link in my signature below and also please take a moment to review your info and get any changes / updates to me via the thread or PM. I'm sorry that it took so long to get everyone on the list ... my LIFE is getting in the way of my DIS'ing!!! :laundy:

So sad to see Gail (weluvdisney5) go ... she will remain with us in spirit!! :lovestruc

So now that summer has hit, it feels like CRUNCH TIME already!! Airfare for us will hopefully be JB from White Plains into Orlando ... JB is notorious for starting out ridiculously high so we might be considering Bradley this go around if the prices are worth it. Fingers crossed the JB doesn't go all praying mantis on us!

I've never monitored the FE list before but will gladly do so this time around!

I guess we will eventually need to know if you are IN or OUT for the FE. Next we will need stateroom #s if you know them already or get us updated ASAP when you get it. Other than that, I'm guessing we can decide later based on how many will participate - what days we will do them, etc. Sadly there are stories of items getting stolen - so maybe we can each designate our own delivery timeframe like "between 8 and 9 pm" so that we know when to look for them. Thoughs??? I would hate for someone to feel tied down to a specific day and time when they are on vacation but it also might be a fun thing for the younger kids to look forward to if they know they have a scheduled gift giving tour!

Again, I have never run a FE group before so please ... ANY and ALL comments and suggestions are welcome!!

This is going to be great. I,m getting excited!!!:yay::yay:

Great idea ... I'm sure we will have many families participating so maybe we can do a morning and an evening for each family so that it will narrow it down.

I have participated in two FE exchanges before but was never assigned a day or time to deliver the FE gifts so this is something new for me.

Is it something you would rather not do? I only suggested it in light of some people reporting theft from the pranksters on board. Figured it would help reduce it if we knaaaew when to expect it. Just an idea. We have plenty of time to decide!

It does not matter to me. I was just wondering if assigning days/times was something new. I have been seeing this recently. I totally understand why. My past two cruises have been member cruises with a lot less kids. So, I am open to almost anything. This will be my first 7-day cruise so I will probably be asking a lot of questions.

Thank you for volunteering to organize this.

I've only done one FE and it was during February school vacation week, so lots of kids. We did not have any problem with theft, but we were in the second cabin forward.
I only suggested the idea of assigning days so that you would get at least one gift everyday. (sunday-friday)
Also, if the FE is full, and you need to deliver your gifts, :confused3 what will you do?:confused3. IMO, an overflowing FE is a set up for items to be taken.
All that aside, I am going to be on vacation, and when on vacation...I go with the flow.....:cool2:
