Halloween at the DLH - Day 6 Disney!

Wednesday 13 October

We were all up for EMH today and more prepared for the cold. Double fleeces/jackets and gloves. It was quite foggy and much colder than yesterday. We were in the park just after 8am.

Peter Pan first again today. Then Dumbos. John sat this one out as guessed it would be baltic up there!! He was right! Then we went over to the teacups, but could hardly turn the wheel with gloves on!

We went back to Peter Pan, for a heat and then finished Fantasyland with the Carousel. We went over to Discoveryland for Mark and Abbey to do Space Mountain but is was not open. I did Orbitron with Abbey and Lewis and it really was cold on this. When we came off Space Mountain was open so Mark and Abbey did this whilst John, Lewis and I waited in the arcade at Videopolis. We noticed this new addition just outside:

Buzz was closed our entire stay so Star Tours was open instead. We coaxed Lewis into trying this with the promise of me being his human seatbelt and holding him tight. He didn't say much on it, but declared he thought it was ok when we came off. I think he'd like it now if he went on again.

All really cold now we headed back to the hotel for breakfast.

This time we were seated inside Inventions. It was much quieter today and he food was piping hot. I don't have any pictures of characters outside breakfast today, so I think it must have been Mickey again.

We went back to the main park after breakfast. I had popped into City Hall the day before to ask when Dapper Dans would be open as Mark fancied a 'real' shave. It was open Wednesdays - Sundays. So off we went, thinking we would need to make an appointment. Someone was getting a shave when we went in, and Mark and John were asked to wait. It was lovely inside.

The shave cost 14E each, but I managed to get discount with Shareholders card. John was in agony afterwards - he thinks it was because his skin was not heated with anything before shaving. The guy used just cold water and when he finished sprayed some kind of aftershave. John said he nearly hit the roof with the sting afterwards. I must admit - it wasn't a very close shave, but hey ho - it was something different I suppose.

Kids wanted to do Big Thunder Mountain first, so off we went to Frontierland via the covered walkway. Liberty arcade and the walkways were empty most of the time, a real time saver.

Instead of Big Thunder Mountain Lewis said he fancied trying Phantom Manor, he was getting brave now! So off we went.

John, Mark and Abbey then went on BTM using the hotel fastpasses. We were on catch up from yesterday as we hadn't used all from the days before yet. Whilst they were on this Lewis talked me into buying him yet another cowboy had and pistol. I sat in the sun on 'my bench' at the exit to BTM and Lewis danced around to the Halloween music.

When John and the others came off BTM I went on with the kids using the fastpasses. When we came off I wanted to do a count of how many fastpasses we had left, but I couldn't find them and realised they'd been in my back pocket and must have come off on BTM. I went back in the exit and a very nice CM asked me my name and said he had them. Lucky for us! The hotel fastpasses are now large tickets, similar to the meal vouchers, with your name on them. The last time we stayed at DLH they were just small tickets the same size as the standard ones from the machines.

We then walked towards Woody's Roundup and came across Jack. The queue was quite short so we waited to see him. He spoke to Lewis for ages and asked him about his visit to Disney. Lewis was very taken with him - he was very good with the kids.

Pirates was next for us with Lewis a bit more relaxed. Walk on again. We made our way to Main St via the Aladdin attraction which we'd not been in for a few years.

We were in time for the Villan's Showtime - it was a great show and the music was just fantastic!

All a bit hungry now and headed over to Videopolis in Discoveryland for some burgers. CM was lovely and we got a voucher for a free drink later in the day. It is such a shame there are no shows here anymore but the kids sat and watched some Pixar shorts and Goofy and the Ghost which they all giggled at. For such a large place this was such a relaxing atmosphere to have a quick bite. Very tasty food too :thumbsup2

After this we decided we must do Small World so off we went

Although this wasn't very busy it was quite slow loading as for some reason they only loaded one boat at a time - there were tons of empty boats.

Abbey wanted to do Alice's Maze so this was our next attraction

Abbey and Mark ran on ahead of us and waved from the top after what seems like seconds! John and I made the mistake of following a guy who was completely lost and it took us ages to reach the top with Lewis!!

It was time for the New Generation Showtime and we ended up with the same spot. Abbey got some popcorn and John went to the Gibson Girl to get a hot chocolate with the voucher we had got at lunch. The show was great and Lewis was so excited when he saw Prince Naveen and Tiana.

When the show finished it was only about half an hour before the parade was due to start, so we picked our spot in Main St and sat down to take the weight off our feet. And of course, you know what happens next.....we sit there for ages and then 2 minutes before the parade starts some people come right up behind us with the smallest kids you've ever seen and draw daggers at you when you dare to stand up.......thankfully just as they started to moan and groan a CM was walking up the other side telling everyone to stand up, so hopefully they realised it wasn't just us doing this. Mark however, ever the peacemaker let 6 little kids in front of him.

I think I should maybe have been married to one of the mums though, she was that close to me. She actually leant on my shoulder at one point trying to get a photo of the first float as it went past the castle that we couldn't even see yet :lmao::lmao: Anyway, the parade was fab:

I got overly excited at the photo of Belle's Christmas Village there - in just over 3 weeks we'll be there sipping mulled wine and singing Chante C'est Noel! Eeek!
Shame the shave wasn't the best, but at least they can say they've done it. Going to make my boyfriend go in for one next year :lmao:

After the parade we noticed that hoardes of people left the park. We went back to the hotel and had a short rest. We had reservations for Cafe Mickey at 6:30pm and headed through the village in plenty of time, taking some pictures on the way.

There was a bit of a queue when we got there, but it's split into two lines for non-reservations and those who have reserved. We were taken in right away and seated upstairs overlooking the lake. We ordered two pizzas, two portions of fries and had some lovely desserts.

Stich was running around all over the place kicking the CM's etc and stamping his feet - Lewis has never really been into Stich, but he thought he was really funny.

As he left the table he stood and stared at Mark and then done the 'i'm watching you' thing with his fingers - Lewis just cracked up at this!

During this Captain Hook approached the table and for some reason Lewis got frightened and started to cry. Poor Captain Hook looked really sorry and went away, so no pictures with him. No idea why he got so scared, he had his picture with him the day before! That's 6 year olds for you!!

Thanks - yes we did. The pizzas are really big. Fries weren't actually on the menu but our CM was really nice and we asked if we could order fries. We were going to get 4 portions but he said 2 would be plenty as they were quite big - he was right! I'll put a full report on the review thread as tome point.

Belles village looks really nice - Abbey is desperate for me to take her, just on our own - but I think i'd feel too guilty......there's no way I could go without them all (different if they didn't like it) they all love it as much as me!

Thanks Elaine - I'm very lucky that they all got on really well, despite the age gap - I think having Lewis gives them a great excuse to keep going to Disney, not that we really need one :lmao:
