FISH EXTENDER EXCHANGE SIGN UP:
Thanks to LuckyMomofTwo for taking care of the Fish Extender Exchange.

Send an Email to SSMemberCruise2011@Yahoo.com (SSMemberCruise2011@Yahoo.com)
Please list the following:

1. Your DISboard name.
2. Stateroom Number
3. Names, ages and gender of everyone in your stateroom that will be participating in the FE Exchange.

Once I receive your email, I will send out a list of participants. PLEASE check the list to make sure I have your information correct. Some people make personalized things with names on them and I'd hate to spell someone's name wrong and not know it. Or I'd really feel awful if I have your stateroom number wrong and you don't get any FE gifts at all! So, please double check my list when I send it. THANKS!!

This will only be my THIRD FE Exchange. There are always questions such as "Is there a price minimum or maximum?" "Do we give one gift for each stateroom or one gift per person in each stateroom?" "Do we give a gift each night or just one night?"

SO, my answer to all of you is this: It's entirely up to you. If you guys want to set some minimum/maximum amounts, per stateroom or per person gift, that's entirely up to all of you. I think everyone just does what they're comfortable with and everyone is always happy to receive gifts no matter how big or small! (Am I right?) Also, in my opinion, homemade gifts are the best!

One last note: IF we find out that there will NOT be FISHIES outside our stateroom door, I suppose we'll change the name of the "extender exchange" to whatever it is.
Participating in the Fish Extender Exchange is completely optional. Feel free to do or spend whatever you're comfortable with. As for the Fish Extender itself, some people buy them, others want to make theirs, whatever you choose is fine. The same rule applies to the "goodies"! You can buy or make them!

What is a fish extender exchange?

If you're not familiar with what a fish extender exchange is, check out these links:

DIS MEET
DIS Meet - Sailing Day:

Time and place to be determined at a later date.

The Elizabeth Swan & Pirate Game
On the 2008 Member cruise thread Gary (OKWMember) came up with the pirate game where each 100th post got a pirate (pirate:). To add more fun, each 99th post got an Elizabeth Swan (:bride:). This game was played in the 2009 Member Cruise thread and was so much fun. It really got people chatting. When will you get an :bride: or a pirate:?

Every 99th post = 1 ES (:bride:)
Every 499th post = 2 ES
Every 999th post = 3 ES

Every 100th post = 1 Pirate (pirate:)
Every 500th post = 2 Pirates
Every 1000th post = 3 Pirates

We'll have a prize for the DISer with the most pirates and the most swans at the onboard DIS meet.

PORT CAMERAS
Some people like to view the Disney ships leave port. As the time was getting closer to our sail away date last year, some posters in the '09 thread would log on every Sunday to watch the Disney Wonder sail away. So, if anyone is interested in watching the Wonder or Magic sail away, here are the port cameras:

Port Canaveral Webcam (http://www.portcanaveral.com/webcam.htm)
Two Palms Webcam (http://www.twopalms.com/)
Ron Jon Resort Webcam (http://www.ronjonresort.com/beachcam.aspx)
Cocoa Beach - Port Canaveral Webcam (http://cocoabeachsurf.com/BeachCam1.htm)

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Passports - do I need one?
Having a passport is ideal. However, a birth certificate with a valid photo ID will be permissible.

From DCL website:
Passport Information

Guests are responsible for obtaining proper documentation to board the ship. U.S. Government passport requirements continue to change; therefore, we strongly encourage Guests of all ages to have a valid U.S. passport for all cruises. Having a passport allows you to always be prepared to travel wherever you wish, and offers an added measure of security when you're traveling.

For air travel, however, the deadline was January 23, 2007. This means that all travelers, including U.S. Citizens and all foreign nationals, traveling to the United States by air, such as Guests flying to Orlando, Florida from Canada, are required to carry a valid passport after the effective date.

From Dept. of Homeland Security website (thanks eroinm (Michael)):
How will the final WHTI requirements affect passengers going on cruises?
U.S. citizens on closed-loop cruises (cruises that begin and end at the same port in the U.S.) will be able to enter or depart the country with proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate and government-issued photo ID. A U.S. citizen under the age of 16 will be able to present either an original or a copy of his or her birth certificate, a Consular Report of Birth Abroad issued by DOS, or a Certificate of Naturalization issued by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

Please be aware that you may still be required to present a passport when you dock at a foreign port, depending on the islands or countries that your cruise ship is visiting. Check with your cruiseline to ensure you have the appropriate documents for the stops you’ll be making on your cruise.

What have other members cruises been like?
The organizers (WDWLVR & MarkRG) of our 2009 members cruise thread developed a website specifically for the cruise. Now, I am not that talented. However, for reference I will list it here. It also has trip reports from 2003, 2005, 2006, & 2007 member cruises as well as tips for cruisers.

2009 Members Cruise website (http://monorailgreen.info/member2009/index.htm)

You may also view information about the 2010 cruise at:

http://www.hutsellhobbies.com/disney/dvcMember (http://www.hutsellhobbies.com/disney/dvcMember)

When can I book excursions, reservations at Palo, and/or register the kids for the kids' clubs?

120 days before the sail date if you are a Platinum Castaway Club Member (sailed with DCL 10 or more times)
105 days before the sail date if you are a Gold Castaway Club Member (sailed with DCL 5 or more times)
90 days before the sail date if you are a Silver Castaway Club Member (sailed with DCL once before)
75 days before the sail date for everyone

When is Pirate Night?

Pirate night on most cruises are the Night of our visit to Castaway Cay, this past year it was on Monday Night.

If there is anything else anyone wants to post on here please let me know. More to come as pictures of the ship finally come out. I will add pictures from the ship sometime in late May as MouseFan64 and I will be sailing on the Dream on May 15th, 2011.

Mickey and Minnie fo sure. I'd say Snow White must be included becasue that was the first full length animation ever.

To answer Ian's question, I think:

1. Mickey Mouse
2. Minnie Mouse
3. Pluto
4. Goofy
5. Dumbo
6. Bambi
7. Cinderella
8. Snow White
9. Peter Pan
10. Tinkerbell

This is without knowing exactly what angle Ian is looking for or coming from. These are just some of the earliest most popular Disney animated characters that are still so well known today. I guess Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore & Piglet could be in there, too. But ya gotta have some princesses. lol

In 2002...DVC secured a block of staterooms but as Debbie says 2003 the cruise was made up entirely of DVC members.

This is just a paragraph from the story:

Disney Vacation Club's S.S. Member Cruise

Friday, February 14, 2003
by Sue Holland, MousePlanet staff writer

The Disney Vacation Club (DVC) chartered the Disney cruise ship Disney Wonder for a special members-only cruise from February 2 through 6. Unlike its 2002 cruise where DVC secured a block of staterooms, the 2003 cruise was completely unavailable to non-members altogether — the entire passenger list consisted of DVC members and their guests. The result meant many subtle and not-so-subtle differences from a regular four-day Wonder cruise.

Monika - I had no idea they did that in 2002. That must have been a "trial run" for the full blown member cruises. Why would they even think they needed to do that? DUH! :rotfl2:

Couple of stupid questions:

Is there an easier way to follow these threads? I bring up the thread from favorites. Try to find the page number/date I left off with. Then re-read posts until I start seeing new stuff.

Also, when on the final page of the thread, do you'all just keep hitting refresh to see the latest postings?

Thanks,

Go to user CP up top on the left ans subscribe to the thread and then you can access the thread through there. It will let you choose the page to go to. Still may have to search a bit it makes it easier.

Go to user CP up top on the left and subscribe to the thread and then you can access the thread through there. It will let you choose the page to go to. Still may have to search a bit it makes it easier.

I leave a tab or window open at all times to pick up where I left off.

Thanks Junior,
I'll look into the subscribe method.

Windows Vista does seem more robust than my previous experience with Windows, but I still have to shut if off a couple of times a week because we often travel to SW Michigan or southern IN.

So, do you just keep hitting refresh when you're on the last page of the thread to see new posts?

John

Couple of stupid question:

Is there an easier way to follow these threads? I bring up the thread from favorites. Try to find the page number/date I left off with. Then re-read posts until I start seeing new stuff.

Also, when on the final page of the thread, do you'all just keep hitting refresh to see the latest postings?

I subscribe with an email alert. The link in the email usually takes me right to where I left off.

Yup, I just hit refresh.

I WOULD LIKE YOUR OPINIONS ABOUT SOMETHING. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHICH 8 or 10 DISNEY CHARACTERS WOULD BEST PAY TRIBUTE TO WALT? Feel free to ask your friends also.

1) Mickey (obviously he still would do the voice and teach it till the day he died)
2) Snow White (1st ever full length feature)
3) Oswald the lucky rabbit (I love that the company bought for Walt)
4) Flick (Always try to work to make everyone's life better)
5) Peter Pan (Never wanted to grow up)
6) Jiminy Cricket (When your heart is in your dream, no request is too extreme)
7) Ariel (Always a dreamer, and her Movie saved the company)
8) Lewis from meet the Robinsons (He was an inventor that failed 100 times before he finally made it but never gave up)

Yes, I really wanted to see the virtual portholes, but those categories were long gone by the time we got through. In fact, we have always stayed with inside staterooms (I call it "steerage class") in the past. I'm sure we'll enjoy the verandah, but I'll still miss the virtual porthole.

Junior,

I didn't get a chance to respond on the other thread before we shut it down, but I wanted to thank you for the very kind words you had about my oldest son. I will pass it along to him and I'm sure he will be appreciative. It always helps knowing there is still support out there for what our guys and gals are doing - not just there but all over the world.

I pray for his safe return everyday, and with the Lord's help, he'll come home on December 18th!

Thank you again. :)

Thanks Karen...it's your west coast computer :rotfl2:

:lmao: Hey, I think you may be right about DS15's PC. I fiddled around with it for a while. Unplugged everything and plugged it back in first. I ended up taking one of the memory sticks out and it seems to be working just fine now. Going to play with it some more and make sure. Then try the other stick in the other slot to make sure it's not a bad slot on the motherboard before I order another stick. Stupid thing has a "lifetime" warranty, but you have to have original packaging and receipt. It's probably not worth the time to try to find it. :headache:

On Saturday, 30 October 2010, the Disney Dream, the biggest cruise ship built by MEYER WERFT to date, will leave the yard's covered building dock. The floating-out manoeuvre is supposed to commence around 5 pm. The Disney Dream is scheduled to float out of the dock the first time. The event will include a unique celebration to mark the milestone as the ship nears completion.

Alcohol is permitted on board. However, be aware that any fragile items (including bottled alcohol) must be hand-carried on board in a day bag and/or carry-on bag, the dimensions of which cannot exceed 22" wide, 14" high and 9" deep. Guests who request a Wine Steward to open and serve a bottle of champagne, wine or liquor that has been brought onboard will be charged a corking fee of $18.00 per bottle.

Looks like there is no limit WooHooooo I Don't think we need a wine steward. I'll open them and serve for free! :)

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE.Alcohol is permitted on board.

:)This year was our 7th DISNEY CRUISE. I wish I had known about that 6 CRUISES AGO. I brought 2 bottles of APPLETONS RUM with me.:cool1:on the 2010 member cruise. It helped cut down on my bar bill. A BIT!:rotfl2:

As long as your caught up, I am pretty sure it is just getting posts for the contests and they have little content (smiley's and the like). If you are into the contest join in as well until it gets locked, otherwise here we speak me thinks!
