Welcome to the Wonderful Panama Canal Crossing thread (Part 4)!

Our Cruise Website. http://www.wonderpanama2011.com/
I've just added some more pictures and 1 more person. If you *ARE NOT* on the list now, or something is not right, it's because I don't have it, or I lost it, or I forgot and it's so buried that you need to send it again.

PM TigfanJeff or email monorailpilot@gmail.com

If you want to be in the FE exchange, remember to tell Jeff! Participants are cleverly marked on the website both on the main list and the FE list.

Cookie Recipe Exchange Please PM Glindamood with Recipes in the subject line. Include Name and Room number. Details have not yet been worked out. Please comment on your preference for mode of delivery in the thread.

Carmie3377 is keeping a list of who's where the night before the cruise in case anyone wants to plan a pre-cruise meet up. PM Carmie with your information if you'd like to be included.

Excursion Planning Spreadsheet ... I built a quick-reference spreadsheet for excursion planning. . . . Each title is actually a link to the detailed description on the DCL web site (click the cell, and then click "Go to link"). Happy planning!

PHOTO SHARE Carmie3377 Update 10/25/10

Just thought I would mention our photo sharing since we've had a lot of newcomers. Some of us have decided to have an account at SmugMug. Although they do charge, they don't compress photos like the free websites do. Anyway, we'll use this account to upload any photos we take with our own cameras that we want to share with other participants. Some people have stated that they don't like to take pictures/aren't good photographers and that's okay too. If you join our group, you can upload and/or download.

When we first started discussing this, SmugMug billed yearly. However, now they offer monthly billing. I still think we should go with yearly billing and allow our photos to expire in one year. That will be sufficient time to allow everyone to upload/download and everyone will know how much longer they have. Also, you basically get 4 months free going with the yearly billing.

RRBB and I discussed using Power ($60/yr) or Basic ($40/yr) http://www.smugmug.com/photos/photo-sharing-features/ . I think Basic would be fine but if anyone has any objections, let me know. I was also thinking about setting the account up right after we return home so we get the full benefit of the year. I plan to set up folders by the day, then sub-folders for different events, restaurants, ect. Again, I'm open to suggestions.

So, this is who I have so far. If you've signed up, please check the list to make sure you are listed. If you would like to join, please send me a PM.

The cost will be divided up among all members, I will figure out the per/person costs and people can pay me on the cruise or send me payment via paypal after the cruise if we don't get a chance to meet up during the cruise (you can do so before the cruise if you want as well). I won't have the username/password until I set up the account but will pass that along as soon as the account is activated. Since we already have 25 members, each member's cost will be very low (currently at $1.60 for the basic or $2.40 for the pro) and will even get lower as more people join.
This group will close to new members December 1.

Non Disney Excursion suggestions

ARUBA:

SCUBA Diving
Contact TxMermaid1 for more information The price is $94 which includes pickup and return to the ship

Rental for BCD & regulator is $26, wetsuit is $13

We will be diving the wreck "Jane sea": Jane Sea has a maximum diving depth of around 27.7 m / 90.9 ft and is suitable for all divers. This gargantuan two hundred and fifty foot wreck rests in ninety feet of water. This former concrete freighter sits upright facing a gorgeous coral reef. You will enjoy exploring the massive cargo holds. There are many brilliantly colored tropical fish schooling near this wreck. Be on the lookout for the beautiful Angelfish that inhabit this area. Barracudas lurk about, waiting to snag an unsuspecting smaller fish. Marine Turtles and Manta Rays may also be seen near this wreck. http://www.surfacewatch.com/divesite.../jane-sea.html

Barcadera: Barcadera Reef has a maximum diving depth of around 15.2 m / 49.9 ft and is suitable for all divers. From brain corals to parrot fish, Barcadera Reef is a beautiful underwater paradise appealing to both divers and snorkelers. The reef varies in depth from 6-27 meters (20-89 feet), and fans of underwater life will surely enjoy the rich marine life that's visible here. From the sandy sea floor up to the surface, you'll find a spectacular show of species from wrasses, scorpionfish, damselfish, and pink-tipped anemones to name a few. The reef is busy with life and is densely filled with activity around the various number of large corals that grow and live here. http://www.surfacewatch.com/divesite...dera-reef.html

LindaBabeOne of my room mates, who has been to Aruba before, recommends the Banana Bus tour http://www.bananabusaruba.com/ Please note they offer two tours - night time bar hopping and day time sightseeing. WE ARE LOOKING AT THE DAYTIME SIGHTSEEING TOUR!!!!
The website says they tour Tuesday through Saturday and we'll be in Aruba on Monday. I emailed with them and they say if enough people sign up for a tour on Monday, they will run one. Apparently it is not necessary to pay to sign up - they didn't ask for my CC#. If anyone is interested in this non-Disney excursion option, please visit the Banana Bus website and sign up. In the comment section put "Disboard group" It includes a visit to "baby beach". We now have enough to make this tour a go - UPDATE 10/18 I spoke with Bert this morning- he wanted to know if we wanted the tour as listed on the website or a shorter tour for less cost. I told him we were going under the assumption it would be the tour on the web site, for that price. At this moment - our tour pick up time is 9 AM and the tour will last approximately 4-5 hours. We can discuss what we'd like - I'm thinking a 'trip meeting' may be in order for one of the sea days prior to Aruba? There is still space on this excursion.

Also in Aruba, Valbob89 The Aruba Sail Snorkel and Fish is now full

Puntearenas, CostaRica

ValBob89 is offering this independant excursion PM valbob89 for more info

PUNTARENAS, COSTA RICA TOURS UPDATE
Ride in an air-conditioned spacious vehicle, being driven by an experienced driver, to Costa Rica’s most popular national park, Manuel Antonio, where our knowledgeable nature guide will give us a narrative of the geologic features, national history, local botany, as well as exotic tropical birds, monkeys and sloths we will see.

Than enjoy the Manuel Antonio beach, equally good for snorkeling, swimming and just laying on the beach before a lunch stop at a quality restaurant where we can choose among traditional Costa Rican favorites or more familiar foods, such as burgers and fries or sandwiches.

On the way back to the ship we will have an opportunity, if time permits, to stop at a number of photo opportunities and souvenir shopping spots. These might include Villa Lupas and Santa Lucia, an eco-friendly resort within a tranquil rain-forest preserve for nature lovers.

The cost of this full-day tour, with park entry fee and lunch included is $85 per person plus tip. Children under 8 years old receive 15% off, under age 3 are free. UPDATE: Oddessy Tours can now accept credit card payments. The following families(18 individuals) have indicated they will be joining us on this tour. PM me if you have would like additional info or wish to join us.

SECRET MICKEY The secret Mickey is now closed. Secret Mickeys have been assigned. Happy Planning!
T-Shirt Link http://www.zazzle.com/monorailpilot Making a Shirt

To make your own shirt, take the link to zazzle that is posted on Pg 168 (?) of the thread.
Once there, you will notice just below the main model picture a little orange rectangle that says "CUSTOMIZE IT"--Click that.
Look off to the right and you will see a link to "2. CHOOSE STYLE AND COLOR"--Click on "SEE ALL" and it will take you to all of the shirt styles you can choose.
Once you have chosen your shirt style, you can begin to adjust the size of the image.
Begin with the back image (which should already be there) and adjust or keep as is. Then, you will notice below the main (or larger) model picture, there are smaller images of the model at different angles. Click on the image of the model's front.
Look over to the right again and click on "1. CUSTOMIZE IT" Click on "ADD IMAGE" and then search your computer for the image you would like to add (if it is the Mickey one, I attached the pic here--assuming it works. If it doesn't, let me know and I will send it to your email).
Once you have the image on the front, look off to the right again and look for the arrows. Click on the arrows to adjust the location of the photo.
When you have the photo in the correct place, you can adjust the size by clicking it. If you click on the image you will get a box around it that allows you to adjust the size.
When you do that, you will lose the full size picture of the model, so if you want to see that again, look above the big picture of the model and click on the tab "MODEL" (I tell you this only because it took me FOREVER to figure out).
That's it...from there you would order like normal.
Good Luck!
~Melissa

For those of you that haven't ordered yet...if your order total is over $50 you can use PRESSPAUSE11 for 10% off. I was able to use it with the free shipping code and with my gift certificate code from groupon. :cool1: Linda's note: This code was good 9/26/10. Please let me know if you try to use it and it fails, so I can take this instruction off this page.

NAME TAGS OK---I am willing to print---on cardstock---our logo and your Disboards name and real name to wear on your DCL-provided lanyard. Does this sound like a good idea? If so, please PM me your details and I'll figure out how to get them to you---perhaps at our on-board Dis-meet?
If you'd like a Dis Nametag pm Susan or Tom (Cardidog)

PROGRAMS DCLTravler is creating a DIS program of events so you'll always know where to find playmates:laughing: I'm checking in to let you know that I have the general template created for the "program." I wanted to run some thoughts by all of you and also get some ideas to create the most useful document for everyone!
Here are my thoughts:
-Include the list of "who is going," "where we are from" and "where we are staying"
-Include a 20-24 hr daily schedule documenting everything "we" have planned as well as space for everyone to write in what they want to do for the day.
-Include a tutor schedule that only has each of us (who volunteer to tutor a topic) tutoring for one hour during the entire trip.

My Questions:
1. What do you think so far?
2. What else do you think we need?
3. There are a lot of runners, should we schedule a meeting time each day on deck 4 for those who want to run together?
4. I have all of the activities from the website, but are there others you want to do?
5. I remember reading something about a "tag" game with a Mickey Mouse Magnet "tagged" on peoples' doors--should we do that? If so, how does it work?

Feel free to answer any or all of ?'s 1-5...any help is most appreciated!

Staying Connected on Board

DVCinderella has done some work on how to stay connected while on the cruise. If anyone has anything to add to this please pm me and I will add it to this post.

1) DCL emergency ship-to-shore - I will be leaving this number with family at home. I believe it costs $6.95/minute.

2) Sprint - I contacted their Int'l Help Desk. They enabled our phones for Int'l use. There was no charge for this, and no change to our account or current package (we only have voice/text...no web). Here are the charges I was quoted should we use the phones during the trip:

On the cruise ship:
$2.49/min - Voice
$0.50 - Send text
$0.05 - Receive text
No data (internet, pictures, etc)

Aruba:
$1.99/min - Voice
$0.50 - Send text
$0.05 - Receive text
No data (internet, pictures, etc)

Costa Rica:
No service.

Mexico (Manzanillo, Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas):
$1.69/min - Voice
$0.50 - Send text
$0.15 - Receive text
No data (internet, pictures, etc)

3) BlackBerry - I have a BlackBerry for work, but it is only for e-mail & web (the web connection is very slow). It does not have voice capabilities. Can I assume this will work for e-mail contact? Or should I check with my employer?

4) iPad - In a previous post, I saw reference to iPads. I am completely naive about iPads & iPhones. But I would seriously consider getting an iPad if it's the best way to stay in touch on this cruise. Other than buying the device, what other costs would this entail? Also, where would you safely store this? I assume the safe is not big enough.

5) Laptop - Anyone bringing their laptop?

I'd love to be able to stay in touch via text and/or e-mail with home...voice only in case of emergency. So anyone with advice on the best way to do this, I'd love to hear your suggestions!

I was just sent this by AT&T along with an advert for their international data plan. Anyway, I thought the information inside was worth forwarding on.

AT&T tips for I-phone users

If you want to place calls but not use data:
Turn Data Roaming "OFF". By default, the setting for international data roaming will be in the "OFF" position. Turning "OFF" data roaming blocks email, browsing, visual voicemail and downloads, but it will not block text or picture/video messages.

To turn data roaming "ON/OFF", tap on
Settings>General>Network>Data Roaming

When abroad, international roaming rates apply when you send text or picture/video messages.

To access audible voicemail when data roaming is "OFF", tap on
Phone>Voicemail (International roaming voice rates apply.)

Utilize Wi-Fi instead of 3G/GPRS/EDGE - Wi-Fi is available in many international airports, hotels and restaurants to browse the Web or check email.
If you want to use data but not receive email automatically:
Turn Fetch New Data "OFF" - Check email and sync contacts and calendars manually instead of having the data pushed to your iPhone automatically. This way you can control the flow of data coming to your iPhone.

To turn off the Auto-Check functionality tap on
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Fetch New Data, Change Push to "OFF" and select option Fetch Manually

Utilize Wi-Fi instead of 3G/GPRS/EDGE to download and manually check email: Wi-Fi is available in many international airports, hotels and restaurants.
If you want to use data and track your usage while abroad:
Consider Purchasing an International Data Package: Purchasing an international data package can significantly reduce the cost of using data abroad. AT&T now offers four discount international data packages. The 20 MB package is $24.99 per month, the 50 MB package is $59.99 per month, the 100 MB package is $119.99 per month, and the 200 MB package is $199.99 per month. See att.com/worldpackages for details and international roaming rates. To add an international data package, call 1-800-331-0500 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting**************1-800-331-0500******end_of_the_skype_highlighting.

Reset the usage tracker to zero - When you arrive overseas, access the usage tracker in the general settings menu and select reset statistics. This will enable you to track your estimated data usage while abroad.

To reset Usage Tracker to Zero tap on
Settings>General>Usage>Reset Statistics

DIS ACTIVITIES

Do you travel with a stuffed friend? (We're not talking your dearly beloved human, here!) Teddy Bear, Hippo, Cat or ??? IF your stuffie would like to meet others, please pm LindaBabe with your friend's name in the subject line - and include in the message any idea you might have for such a meet beyond a group photo :)

NEW - SCRAPBOOKing! PM Tlungstrum with Scrapbook in the subject line.

I was thinking that I would post a list of all of the ports, each restaurant, and maybe some things like "sea day", "Pirate night", "Golden Mickeys", embarkation", "lifeboat drill", "Panama Canal day", etc and we could each sign up for a theme. Then everyone would make a 2 page 12x12 spread (for yourself) and bring it with you to show off and for others to get ideas from, also take a picture and print out a copy for each person participating. Then just bring enough of all of the things you used: stickers, titles, mats, photo corners, tags, and the paper of course etc for each participant. This way people can re-create the page you made using the photo as a guide, or if they prefer a slightly different style or size book they could use the supplies as they see fit. Everything except for the paper would fit into ziplock bags easily so the "kits" would be easy to pass out.

I'm thinking we would do it on a sea day sometime after Aruba because I know there's that Walmart there and if anyone wanted maybe they could even print a few pics to work with. Then we could meet up somewhere and show off our pages we made and pass out the "kits" we are trading. Then if people want to stay and work and talk they can but if some are busy they can just trade and go. I have a DCL punch and maybe a few other things I could bring for people to use if they want to.

Please let me know if you are interested and which port/theme you would like, remember it's first come first served on the choices and a PM with Scrapbook in the subject line. Embarktion Day/Port Canaveral
Lifeboat Drill
Castaway Cay
Aruba
Panama Canal
Puntarenas
Manzanillo
Puerto Vallarta
Cabo San Lucas
Debarktion Day/Port of LA
Day at Sea
Pirate Night
Golden Mickeys

Captain's Gala
Animator's Palate
Parrot Cay
Tritons

Interested in YOGA? Pm bwcb4 (Barb) After seeing the day's navigator, she will post an announcement of the day's meeting place and time on the white board outside her stateroom (assuming she gets to move out of the lifeboat)

Interested in Star Wars? Star Trek? Whatever it is.:confused3 Join the battle of the brothers-in-law by pm-ing HeWhoCaves or TigFanJeff for time and location.

JenKatt & TigFanJeff] are organizing a wine / meet & greet
Right now I'm looking at the first sea day, probably around 2pm, in Diversions or Cadillac.

Here's where I'm stuck. Doing a trayed party for 40 people is a little bit out of my reach, even if I charge a nominal fee per person. Keeping things as transparent as possible, for 2 hours, we'd basically be looking at over $1000 before corkage fees even came into play.

Can we finagle the space for 2 hours for a flat rate, have a table set up with 40-50 wine glasses, an empty table for us to place our bottles on as well as handling self opening and pouring (I'll handle bar duties if needed ) and ordering 2 fruit and 2 cheese platters for the event. (The platters apparently feed about 12-15 people). If I can work it out to handle that for about $500, I think that ends up being reasonable for people to throw some donations in to help offset my cost.
If you're interested in this event, pm JenKatt or TigFanJeff with Wine M&G in the subject line.

Val is also organizing an excursion of a different sort ROOM TOUR

What to do: Cruisers volunteer to let others visit their cabin and see what the different categories are like. One person organizes the event to make sure we don’t have duplicate categories. So, on a sea day, at an established time, (final time set after other event times are published) starting on the lowest deck, we visit the different category of cabins. It is great fun to parade down the halls meeting each other and getting a real look at those rooms we all take only a quick peak into as we pass an open door. Additionally, it allows us to share cabin living ideas such as use of an over-the-door shoe storage hanger to put all the “stuff” that ends up set everywhere; or printing a few 4x6x pictures each night at Shutters and decorating one wall as the cruise progresses.

HOW IT WORKS - DetailsWhat was done on the tour when we opened our room was the following: The tour started on the lowest deck. The people showing their room met at the first room a few minutes before everyone. So the people in rooms on the tour on the highest floor could see the rooms on the lower two decks before they had to get to their room. Those on the lower decks went after everyone had cleared their deck and told the people on the next deck they were the last and they could close their rooms. Most people had two or more adults in their room so they took turns going back and looking at the rooms they had missed.

Without a doubt it is very generous of the people who open their rooms, As someone who missed a seeing a few of the rooms I can say meeting everyone made up for it.

I would never leave my room open unattended. Hope this doesn't discourage you from showing your room

Contact ValBob89 for this one, too. UPDATE TO THE CHAMPAGNE GIRLS UPDATE – Calling all Champagne Girls and Wanna-bes (all are welcome)
I have received a response to my FAX to the DCL Function Request Department regarding our Champagne Girls Celebration. She replied that our reputation precedes us and that she has scheduled Champagne Girls events before. She further stated she would be scheduling her January requests sometime in November and would advise us as to what DCL can provide at that time. However, in order to assist us she will need an estimate of how many of us would be in attendance. When I inquired as to an estimated cost, she indicated it would be somewhere between $15 and $20 each. Non-alcoholic beverages could also be provided.

Please send me a pm, even if you have notified me already, if you would like to be included in the count. Please note I will be giving her a count of the estimated number for planning purposes, not your individual information. I would like to hear from you by next Friday, 11-5, at the latest. Thank you.

Val is also organizing a book exchange. The bag will be hung outside stateroom 6572

Contact Valbob89 on this one too Are you interested in a private DCL mixology tasting? Learn all about how those colorful drinks of the day are made and just who gets to name them. I know we aren't supposed to post here until the previous thread is done with page 250 but since I am sure it will close today - I thought more people would see this post here.

As a reminder - today is the final day for Secret Mickey sign-ups! Here is the link:

http://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?formkey=dHA0c3N0RWhSYTNHeW5EWEx5NXNSakE6M A

The information on how the SM works is on our website - please make sure you read it before you sign up. Please remember that each person who signs up will get an individual SM. If you wish to sign up as a couple - that is fine. I ask that no more then 3 people sign up as a "family". If signing up as a family or a couple - please put all information in at the same time. If you need to sign up individuals, please fill in the info and then click the link to go back for the next person. I will be assigning them tomorrow. This will be the final SM sign-up.

We are up to 130 lanyards! The deadline to order lanyards will be October 21, 2010 - I have to order 10% above (there is a +/- 10%) so I may have a few extra but I can not guarantee it. I will not be able to extend the order date as I want to get our order in before the holidays kick in!

Any questions, please let me know.

Right! For like $700 with NO DVC discount! Works great for people like Alan, who can fly coast to coast on practically a commuter basis ( I wish it was ME!)

You can read more about the Premier Pass on the Disney Blog

The blog in general is a good thing to check out. It has a lot of good info and photos.

We fly free too ... However, with the PC and Alaska cruise this year I think we need to wait until next year for the dual passes. At 700.00 each for four gets up there!

Ok Brooklyn - I owe you an aoplogy, for my own piece of mind. The second sentence of my original post said something about the fact that I would not post anymore drivel for the day - which had nothing to do with my first sentence regarding your arrival but rather the end of the the last thread. I reread it later and deleted it as I knew what I meant but did not like the way it sounded.

 I must have missed your first comment but hold on tight to those memories. Grands are very special folks to their grandchildren and hold a spot in our hearts forever.

Hear, hear. I dread the day that something happens to my mom - she's the glue that holds her entire family together and my girls will be devastated. For as cynical as we may come across, many a Sunday has been spent lounging on Grandma's bed and her front patio. DH doesn't quite understand how we can be over there for hours at a time doing absolutely nothing but playing around with Grandma.

As for me, I can wait to be one. My oldest is 24 and counting and it looks like my oldest DD may be my only hope and she's claiming to wait for another 2-5 yrs. Way to go Megan. LOL

We had thought about snorkeling in Cabo but DH decided the water would be too cold - sounds like the air could be as well. The rest sounds wonderful.

Don't forget that Cabo also has the jellyfish issue to deal with. On one of the PC crossing, many guests got stung on a DCL excursion. And the water does turn cold. Also, please be advised, that usually, once we hit that Pacific Ocean, many people start to exhibit cold symptons and clogged noses so be forewarned. This is also at the end of the cruise so your immune systems tend to go down at this time. Hope this helps someone.

Keep a civil tongue in your head. Those Butt Heads are my Butt Heads. Val & Bob from San Francisco.

Better to be thought a fool then open your mouth and confirm it. ;):rotfl:

One thing I noticed on the TA, not sure if they do it for all the cruises, during late dining - about 8:45 pm, they would have the counselors from Flounders nursery and the smaller clubs walk the dining rooms to pick up kiddos as a service to those parents that had small children. I thought that was neat and definitely something that I had not experienced before. Also, they bracelets now have that "GPS" thing on them. LOL - ok so its not but it looks like a tracking device that is attached to the bracelet. So now, the kids just hold up their body part to the scanner whenever they transitition. I even saw a little girl with it on her leg. We laughed because we got an image of her holding up her leg to scan herself out. LOL

Not sure if anyone else posted that as I'm 5 pages behind.

Just wanted to repost that in case someone didn't read the last page.

Four threads! Rock on.

My ILs are taking a very boring cruise to South America a few weeks before we are. They can't understand why we would take DCL cruise. The thread they have on a different board has it a whopping three pages.

Bought more SM gifts last weekend at Company D along with some adorable shirts. Now we REALLY have to keep all the cruise things in its own box when we move.

Does anyone have a link to the Castaway Cay Tram announcement they can post or PM me - I'm feeling nostalgic.

I can kind of wait to, but have two married now and past their first anniversaries so it could happen at any time. It is so nice that you live close to your Mom and are tight-knit, so sad when the adults in families don't see eye to eye and the the children miss out on that special relationship. You can sit in the room and watch (not as fun, but it is free).

You can buy electronic cards (and I think they might still have regular ones, but they might not).

There's a pass called, I believe, the Premier Pass that is an annual pass for both DL & WDW.

It is called a Premier Pass. It is equivalent of a Premium annual pass at WDW and a Premium annual pass at DL. Street value of the two is close to 1100 bucks. So at seven hundred plus tax on half, I could care less that there is no DVC discount as I already save almost $400 off the street value and about $300 off using DVC discounts. A great value if you ate going to use it if you ask me.

We would love to part of the post card group. Our home is in a World Heritage National Park west of Sydney in Australia.

I too was looking at private tours in Manzanillo but have discovered issues with safety including the road being blocked by thieves etc. Although we would love to see the volcano and also the ruins (one tour was a Colonial Tour) we don't want to risk injury or not being able to get back to port in time. What a shame crime is such a huge issue in Mexico at the moment.

We ended up changing our one verandah stateroom to two connecting ocean view rooms. I hope we will not be disappointed but we found the EBTA a bit too cosy with the four of us in one stateroom.

Good Morning Everyone!! I don't feel like I'm new to this thread because I've been following it since this summer. We booked the cruise on the 1st day it came out and then rebooked it when we were on the EBTA! We have 11A GTY. There will be 4 of us, my sister(Tammy), her daughter (Disneyana),my mom(Betty or Nanny), and me(Janice). My mom lives in South Carolina and the rest of us live in Texas. Santa is giving Disneyana this trip(and a BTB on the dream in September) for Christmas so its very hard on us not to talk about it in front of her. She is 10 years old and I homeschool her so we don't have to worry about taking her out of school. We've already signed up for FE, bracelets, nametags and the PC certificates. I'm looking forward to meeting all of you!!!
Welcome! Our 11 YO DD is homeschooled. She is really looking forward to meeting new friends on the ship. There are quite a few tween girls so I'm sure they'll all have a lot fun and meet a lot of new friends! We're in Texas too BTW! I just looked at our website and it shows you're in Katy. We're in Pearland!

My daughter had such a bad experience at the dentist when she was 3 (she had no cavities or anything - the dentist was just mean) that she was hysterical everytime I took her. Luckily she is doing much better and at age 13 - still no cavities so I am thankful for that!

That is what happened with Haley. The dentist was very rough and mean. And it was a pediatric dentist! You would think they would be very caring to kids!

Sorry she didn't get them off this time - sending pixie dust that she gets them off in time for the cruise!
Thanks! She wants them off but she said "Well, if they're not off, at least I won't have my retainer to worry about." Good that she's looking at the bright side and not just moping about it. :goodvibes

And :worship: to you for clipping coupons. I need to be better at it than I am.

I used to be much better at my couponing. Never went grocery shopping w/o them and always saved more than 50%. I got out of them for awhile but recently started getting back into it because I know I can save a ton. I saved $34 today, which was 21% so I'm pretty happy. For one week, that's not bad.

Laura - Thanks for your kind words. Our children and grandchildren were always the world to us. Our dil was never nice and now she is impossible. I have just decided I must live my life the best I can and give my love as dh and I always did. This is what he would want me to do. Life is too short to let her make me miserable and these boys too precious.

Things went well with my visit at the nursing home with my mil. I know now that I will be able to go back. She had no clue that I was there, but I talked to her for nearly half an hour and I will go back at least once a week or more often. She is 92 and has the most beautiful complection with not one wrinkle. I always said she gave them all to us.:lmao:Bless her poor heart.

Hi Harole Ann,

If you'll bear with me on this, there was a most amazing lady on the WBTA. I'll relate her story vaguely. She was originally scheduled to be on the WBTA with her husband. About 6 months back, he passed suddenly so she cancelled. She went on the last 10 day with her DD and her family. They did all Disney related excursions. Close to the end of the cruise, she booked the WBTA solo and didn't tell her DD. They found out on the last days. They were a bit worried about her but in her words - "what could they do about it?"

This lady, we saw was kept very busy by most everyone. Our tablemates met her in Rocking Bar D and asked the rest of the tablemates to keep an eye on her. She did rather well on the cruise, kept busy (David paid a lot of attn to her) and was trying very hard to a good time. We ran into her on the last night and she finally cracked. However, her last words were - I know that he'd want me to have a good time and enjoy myself if I could but I do miss him. I have to make the most of my time and learn to enjoy life again.

Her words struck me immensely as my youngest is having a tough time with my MIL being gone so much. It has been 19 months since he passed and he was the glue that held that family together. I now understand that she has to keep busy but would love for her to comprehend that she has her granddaughter here that would love to spend time with her. In fact, she is coming back from her 2nd home after a 6 mos stay over there. Change is hard, but we must never forget that there are family members that can help remember the good times. Family is most precious and as chaotic as we are, I know that in time of need, we will be there for each other. Hang in there Harole Ann, your extended family will be there for you and as my mom tells me, maybe its just envy of the love that your grandchildren have for their grandparent. ::yes:: that's it.

BTW, I posted a picture of Lynnise on my sight - it should show up on that other site. ;)

86 days and counting.

Never been on a DCL so I dont know their bingo bots, but when I played them in Reno they were fun. A little dog would appear in the lower corner and let you know when you were close what numbers you needed. The reason I liked them is they were always playing games like: picnic table, large kite, small kite etc. And I couldnt figure out the shapes! The ones I listed are easy I cant even remember some of the confusing ones. Bingo bots are great.

It is an electronic card -- it doesn't take the fun away -- just the insanity of having to find the numbers. It searches 36+ cards at the same time. :thumbsup2

http://www.tranquiloaruba.com

Where can we go for a sailboat ride, lunch, and some snorkeling in the most beautiful coastline this side of Venezuela? Tranquilo, a 43-foot charter sailboat in Aruba. Unfortunately, the DCL excursion is kind of short, a large group and requires you wear snorkel belts, so we found this outfit listed on tripadvisor.com. After reading the reviews and trading a few e-mails with the friendly guys who sail the tours,Anthony, here’s my pitch (not theirs): http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g147251-d1009676-Reviews-Tranquilo_Charter_Cruises-San_Nicolas_Aruba.html

With 12 or more people to join Valerie and me (minimum 14), Tranquilo will sail us an hour south from the Wonder to a snorkeling paradise for two hours of water or dockside playtime, with the option of fishing, too.

The bay, Mike’s Reef is close to the De Palm Island and locals consider this one of Aruba’s best reef dives. Here, huge clusters of gorgonians, brain coral, flower coral, and star coral compose most of the environment, though brightly colored sponges have also grabbed some space. It is especially popular with underwater macro photographers, who specialize in close-up and extreme close-up photos. Interesting coral formations are found from shallow water depths, with little or no current and flat surface conditions.

You may also choose to try a different type of snorkeling, drift snorkeling. The Tranquilo will launch a small boat and accompany “drift snorkeling” passengers as the gentle currents carry us through deeper water, allowing us to relax as we watch for exotic fish and corals in “Aruba’s most virgin reef.” Sometimes en route, porpoise show up; flying fish are pretty regular guests. It might take a sharp eye to spot sea turtles, we’re told. Local birds include pelicans, brown ****ies (DISboards wont let me post the name of the bird because it thinks I am saying something naughty - hah), magnificent frigate, sea hawk, terns and laughing seagulls.

Cost: $75 each. We walk about 15 minutes from the Wonder to the marina, where we can board for a 9:30-3:30 trip, including narration, soup-and-sandwich lunch, fresh fruit, open bar, and snorkel gear if you don’t bring your own. Snorkel instructions and snorkel belts available if wanted.

The weather should be warm, and the water clear and in the 80s. Rain doesn’t stop a lagoon adventure – sometimes the water visibility is even better under overcast skies. Regardless, be sure to bring sunscreen and the essentials you’d usually want at the beach. Shade, a cabin, and a head (marine toilet) are available.

The family operating Tranquilo has been in the sail-tour business more than 30years, and operates this tour for others three days a week. Licensed by Netherlands Antilles authorities for 22 passengers plus crew, they can accommodate more than the 14 minimum explorers, if the demand is high. Children are welcome, as are guests with limited mobility (though there’s not much space for stowing wheelchairs aboard, we were advised).

PM you would like to join us for an exciting but tranquil day or if you have any questions. ValBob89

Wow! 4th thread and we still have a few months to go.

Like someone said in a former post- family is everything, but sometimes we don't realize it until someone dies. My mom was the heart and sole of our family and now that she is no longer here, we realized that she was the cement that held us all together. I believe she is still watching over us and protecting us.

She was able to enjoy a Disney cruise with us a few years ago and we will always have those memories.

I lost my mom in 1985 and can't help but think she would havve LOVED the disney cruises. my dad would have gone with us if he'd not gotten sick. i didn't plan too much or give the cruise too mch thought when he got sick cause if he was still sick, i wasn't going. since he passed - i can not believe it's been 3 months- i'm still so sad about it. looking forward to the cruise, but not like last cruises when we signed up and all i could do every day was go to cruise website. though maybe i'm not as bad as i think - i'm on this several times a day. cause if not, you guys get so ahead of me. so i know how you all area feeling. and my step mom has no clue who i am, but whenever she saw me, she got mad thinking i was my dad's younger g/f! it would have been funny if she wasnt so agitated. so i leave it to her DDs and my sister to go see her, sadly.

but you guys are so great! i can'twait to meet everyone and see the FE s and all! and the whales...

You have made a great choice with the Tranquilo. We have done the sunset cruise with them several times. Anthony is a regular contributor to an Aruba forum and serves the best pea soup for lunch on his daytime cruises. The Tranquilo is a beautiful sailboat painted a distinctive red color. He and his crew have participated in and won several races.

We plan to spend the day at the Divi Divi Beach since we own timeshare at the Divi Village. We usually spend 3 weeks on the island during January but thought the Panama Canal cruise was too good to pass up.

Woo Hoo!!! :cool1: My Texas Rangers just won their first ever playoff series and are no longer the only team in MLB that hasn't won a playoff series! Now, they face the New York Yankees which have given the Rangers many problems in the past. But, they split the season series with the Yankees! Looking forward to good series!

GOOD Morning, Happy Cruisers!

IT's a nippy 36 degrees here in upstate new York this morning, with frost warnings out. I'm away to the pool and gym - still hoping to shed 10 more pounds before the cruise, but it will take a miracle!

Now working on making my holiday cards. I've decided to purchase my FE gifts.

Happy day, all!

Morning everyone. Dark and dreary here but just in the 50's. For months I complained about driving to work with the sun shining right in my face - I went from that to driving in the dark, like overnight. I don't get it.

We did this in 05. I would say it's about a 15-20 minute leisurely walk. Unlike other ports in Mexico, we felt very safe walking there. There are also shops and markets on the way. We are not doing any tours in Cabo. We are just walking to town, shopping and going to Cabo Wabo.

Here is the RCI port map that shows where it is: http://www.royalcaribbean.com/content/en_US/pdf/port_explorer/CaboSanLucasRC_ENG.pdf

If you don't think you can do the walk, there are bicycle carts that will take you from dock to town and back also, or of course taxi.

Our Myrtle Beach Pelicans just became a farm team for the Rangers. Pelicans owner is now an owner of the Rangers, so the change was made from Braves farm team to Rangers farm team at the end of this season. We are trying to adjust, so many hard core Braves fans (we are not among them), it may take a while. We are looking forward to the games next season, although it will be strange to have a whole new team and manager. But we say GO RANGERS!!!! We are going to see them play the Braves on 3/31/11 and it would be great to watch the World Series Champs defeat the Braves.:cheer2::cheer2:

I will be changing mine once we get home. Still in Orlando after our WBTA and having a great time. Off to Miami on Sunday for 3 nights before flying home next Wednesday.

Can't wait to do it all again next year though!!!! Before then of course we have this cruise to look forward to, and that really isn't far off, particularly with Christmas before then!!

All I know from last time, and NOT from personal experience I might add;), that the water in the Caribbean is much much warmer than the Pacific. Not sure about what you can see etc though. I can ask my friend though.

When we did the PC cruise in 2008, the day we were in Cabo was VERY cold and VERY windy and that was at the end of May! I should clarify that VERY cold was that most people I saw were wearing light jackets and I had two shirts and a jacket on. Most if the Cabo excursions were cancelled that day. My son swam with the dolphins and I was thrilled that I didn't have to get in the water!

I would think Aruba would be much more comfortable in January than Cabo.

The Aruba sailboat does look very nice. I read several great reviews, but I noticed that they don't let you book with a credit card.

I don't like carrying a lot of cash either. So I was going to see if there is some way we can use Pay Pal with the gift designation so he doesn't have to pay the fee. If he won't go for that, if people trust me, you could send it to my Pay Pal account and then I'd get a cashers or travelers check to bring to him. Or maybe someone has another thought on this. Val

Who ever mentioned the sale at Lands' End on rash guard tops - thank you. I orderd a long sleeve, half-zip for DH and a pull-on short sleeve for me. They have an SPF of 50 and good reviews. I found a promotion coupon, greatlakes, pin #1030, which gave me $10 off on top of the sale plus free shipping (saving $9) if I spent over $50. So I got DH a lovely (hope he thinks so) lavender tee, on sale for $8 - basically free. All for $46.52 after tax. Thanks again. Harole Anne, I am so glad you get to go on this trip. I know how hard it is to see someone with Dementia. My step dad died from it last Oct. He was 93. He had it for many years and my Mom never wanted to put him in a nursing home said she promised him that she would never do that. She cared for him at home for many years never going anywhere other than the gorcery store and church. his daughter would watch him for an 1 hour. She loved him very much but she was trapped. We tried to get her to get help but never would. Was even cutting her own hair at home. My husband could not go on this trip but she is. My dad always talked of the canal as he would go down there frequently and it was my Dream to go on a cruise to the Panama Canal with him. Well he died over 22 years ago. So my Mom will go which is the next best thing. I can't wait! :yay:

Hey Everyone, just wanted to share my excitement over my new Mickey gold hook bracelet that I had custom designed!! I had one of those 'Ocean City hook bracelets' for years (for those of you who have heard of the traditional Caribbean hook bracelet, the OC one is modeled off that, for Ocean City, NJ). But last year we moved from OC and I didnt really have a need for it anymore but didnt want to just stick it in a drawer either, because it was 14k gold. So, I took it to my jeweler and used the same bracelet, just had the middle OC piece removed and redesigned to be Mickey's head and still with the 'hook' clasp style--here is a picture below-- it is kind of blurry because of my cell phone quality picture but you can sort of see the tiny diamonds in his ears and the bigger diamond by the clasp. Just couldnt wait to share the pic with you all when I got it, I am so glad I got to turn my bracelet into something that I will never want to change my love for, Disney!!

Well, I went to the chiropractor this morning for a pinched nerve in my back - having pain in my neck and horrible headache:headache: When I started with the migrain last week I think that was just the beginning. She said it would take at least four treatments for relief, but I do feel somewhat better since I got home. I am just taking it easy this afternoon which I don't seem to have a problem doing!:)

I did try to sort clothes - before cruise, cruise daytime, cruise evening, cruise excursion, cruise formal, Palo, after cruise, & staying at my daughter's house. Right now it looks like I am moving out of my house! I don't think it is going to fit in my car!!

Since I put hooks over the spare bedroom door to organize and things are falling off the hooks, I think that means it is time to narrow things down a wee bit, but where to start! That can wait for another day, Scarlet!:confused3

Two ways to search.

1. Search the whole boards
Towards the top of the web page you have a red bar that goes all the way along the page (above the DU advert). On the right hand side of that is the word search and a down triangle next to it. Click on that and it gives you a basic search box. For your search you probably want to do an advanced search which is a text link at the bottom of that box. In the advanced search you can put in your Dis ID and a key search term.

2. Search an individual thread

Below the DU advert and the page numbers there is a red bar on the right hand side of the forum (this is just at the top of all the individual posts) there is a link that says "Search This Thread" again click that and it gives you a basic search box for that thread only. Again there is an advanced option which is better if you are looking for a post that you may have made.

You could try this search on all the previous 3 PC cruise threads using option 2. It will give you a more targeted search. Using option 1 could give you a lot of search results to filter through, so unless you are looking for something fairly unique, I think option 2 is better.

Lastly I highly recommend a site called Tripit.com - it basically is a service that combines all your trip plans into one itinerary. I used it for our 4 week trip back to Europe because it was getting complicated with staying in several places, taking trains here, cars there, ferries somewhere else. It was great to have it all written in one place. There is an option to email your reservations to a special email address and TripIt will try and read your reservation and upload it to the itinerary. This only works with big things, like airplane tickets, hotel chains etc, but there is an option to manually add reservations that it cannot automatically parse into your itinerary. Love it. Set one up also for a camping trip and this cruise. At least I have all my plans in one place. :thumbsup2 - Oh and they have an iphone app too.

Something I struggled with was the weight of my suitcases. Just because I could fit it in didn't make it ok, even with Virgin America allowing 70 pounds for the first case. I love bling on my clothes and have a lot of beaded tops and formal dresses. The long formal dresses with all the beads weigh in at almost 6 pounds each. What I found worked was rather then filling a suitcase and weighing it, I fold all my clothes, put them in large ziplock bags and put a suitcase worth into laundry baskets. Then I just weigh the laundry basket. It much easier on me and the clothes, don't need to keep opening and closing the suitcase. Plus the pets freak out as soon as I bring those dreaded cases (they know the cases mean we are leaving them again) out so I can leave that until the last minute. val

I just ordered 4 t-shirts from Vista Prints, have never ordered from them but read here the quality was acceptable. I uploaded this great image (see post 79 by Brooklyn). I found a pretty good price, $29.11 for 4 with image upload and shipping. http://www.couponcabin.com/coupons/vistaprint/ has a number of promotion codes you can review. I used the first one, the 50% off. The image is now on their files, 3TDZ4-DA412-3X1, so if you want to order it from them, you won't be charged the image upload fee (if there is a problem accessing it let me know and I can have you use my account password). val

They're usually pretty good about giving them out, but just in case they don't, be sure to ask.

The image is now on their files, 3TDZ4-DA412-3X1, so if you want to order it from them, you won't be charged the image upload fee (if there is a problem accessing it let me know and I can have you use my account password). val

Val, could I get your info...I can't seem to access the image

Thanks,

I haven't tried it yet. Is it pretty good? I guess most coffee would be better than Disney stuff though!!:lmao:

I did feel that room service coffee and dining room coffee was slightly better than the self serve stuff, but that could be because it was a bit stronger.

I agree, the dining room and room service is better. ANYTHING is better than deck 9's offerings.

I was afraid that was the case (while secretly hoping it wasn't) It looks like I will have a Plan B ready with the Cove available too.

For morning coffee, you can get a pot from room service. it isn't great, but it's not bad either. It really does matter who makes nescafe that day, and it seems much more consistent in the dining room and room service.

Be careful and don't do too much, even when you first start to feel better, no relapses as you have a cruise to take

Too funny but I have the same issue. I use an excel spreadsheet with each night and what to wear so I don't end up short - or with more than I need. I have a tendency to pack until the bag is full which is not always the thing to do.

It has been a while since I have been on a Disney Cruise and I was wondering if there were any coffee lovers on here that might have an opinion on the current state of DCL coffee. The coffee at Disneyland is very weak so if the coffee is the same on the boat then I will think about bringing my own (probably french press).

Any thoughts?

There was a thread on the main board about french presses just recently - my guess is if you have a small one, bring it. The Cove is good b ut it requires getting dressed and getting there.

OK Ditto me. But its quite possible I am just not doing it right. I didn't order t-shirts on the TA for just this reason. I did the spreadsheet thing for our Baltic cruise this summer and it ended up being overkill for me.:lmao: I ended up with too much stuff b/c I was too meticulous. This time I think I'm just going to wing it, keeping in mind that I will add t-shirts as we go and that I will probably get lazy as the cruise goes on so I need as much dressy stuff.:rotfl:

Plus the pets freak out as soon as I bring those dreaded cases (they know the cases mean we are leaving them again) out so I can leave that until the last minute. val

I know what you mean about pets getting excited when the suitcases come out. Jasmine jumps in it! Of course this time she is going, at least to dd! I try to get the suitcases to the spare bedroom where I pack while she is outside and now with all of the clothes there hopefully she won't get too excited. We used to have a dog suitcase and everytime it came out of the closet our dog went crazy. Jasmine has a dog tote bag, but she does not seem to get too wild over it. She is so used to flying that she just goes with the flow. This time we will be driving to South Carolina so it will be her first long car ride in several years! I hope she is up for it! She is a good traveler so I don't anticipate any problems. The biggest problem will be when I leave her for such a long time. My dd says she pines for me.

Cinder gets anxious when I drag out the suitcases. She starts crying and jumping on me. I feel so bad for her because she was abandoned by her prior owners. Last week after I returned from San Francisco, she slept on me the first night. That is what she did the first couple of weeks we had her too as she was afraid we would leave her :sad1: I just love that baby so much I could never leave her. I wish she knew that Momma wouldn't ever leave her forever. Yes, I am crazy about my dog!

As far as packing, DH and I just made a list of our suitcases and carry-ons. I know we are going to max out on our luggage of 8 checked. I wish I could be a lighter packer but i can't.

I had an aunt who went all over Europe with one small suitcase. She should have taught me how to pack! I just cannot seem to get the nack of it. I even bought a lighter weight suitcase!:lmao:

I have promised myself I will try very hard this time and I am sure dd will help me since I am leaving from her house. She is so efficient, and she did not get it from her mom! Come to think of it, not from her dad either. I guess she picked up on her own...good training!:dance3:

At least I have some time to work on it! Jasmine has to pack too! Little allergy dog has to take a starter amount of dog food. Liz already has 4 bags of her treats so that should last a long time. Eukanuba quit making her food so we had to try someting different and so far so good. I hope it keeps up okay. It is just like a little child with her and the allergies!

Just decided today to go on the Dream with friends from the Mediterranean Cruise. We are going December 18 - 22. I can not believe I made that decision. They are so great and we have had so much fun together. They came to my dd to visit last summer.

Just spent 4 weeks in Europe as a family of 4. We had 2 suitcases for all of us (we also had backpacks for toys/books/snacks etc and a computer bag for the laptops) but I was happy and amazed that we managed to get everything into 2 suitcases. So was the check-in lady at Virgin Atlantic :thumbsup2

Wow - been about two weeks since I was here last, and you folk up and start a whole new thread ! LOL !

I keep trying to get on here, and thought I'd have better luck with the school holidays. Only problem is that with four kids all wanting to use the computer, I had virtually no online time, so please accept my apologies. To be honest, I've had some other things going on, so the trip hasn't been foremost in my mind, which is HIGHLY unusual for me. But time to re-focus, as our holiday starts in 71 days !!! (Counting the night we'll stay at the airport before our morning flight to the US).

Mind you, I still have another 9 days until I can do my shore bookings - I'm wondering what will be left by then - hope there's a couple at least. Of course, if there's not, we'll probably just be happy meandering around the ports by ourselves.

I'm sorry I'm so far behind on everyone's news. Of course, things just go manic between now and the time we leave - there's only 7 weeks left of the school year here, so we have everything from end-of-year exams to speech nights to Shakespeare festival, to Christmas parties. That said, I LOVE this time of year. An added bonus is that I am seriously considering quitting my nearly-f/t job, and sticking with just working at the school next year. We'll still be able to wrangle o/s holidays, so all would be good :rotfl:

Gosh, I've prattled on long enough.... I WILL get caught up - I have to !

I need to PM about bracelets / lanyards and the like, don't I ? Also trying to rack my brain as to what to get for the FEs. I had thought about some Aussie lollies, but their weight would be too prohibitive, unless I guess I mailed them in advance ? Otherwise, I'm stumped. I'm sure I'll think of something.

I hope everyone is well, and that all is OK with everyone's families (and dogs :) )

So much to do on my day off !

Cheers,
Sally :)

How do DCL transfers work? We have never done them before, and on the last WBPC we had a limo transfer. Do you take your bags with you or leave them somewhere and a dcl deal with them?

We have used the DCL transfers multiple times. They give you different tags then the others and you don't worry about your bags until you get to the airport or Disney Hotel. The best is the on-board flight check in. Disney gives you special tags and you put your bags out like everyone else. They also give you your boarding passes for your airline so you don't have to worry about getting them printed. If there is a baggage fee they figure that out and charge it to your room charges. Then I didn't have to worry about anything but my carry-on. Went through security and right to the gate without checking in - it was all done. Didn't see my bags again after putting them outside our door the night before until I arrived in San Francisco. My bags were all a little over the 40 pound allowance but less then 5 pound over. No problem or additional charge. Last time we had to check them ourselves, and one was 3 pounds over the other under, although we were allowed 4 bags and only had 2, she still made us re-pack them and we were in the First Class check-in. So I expected to be charged for overweight bags but I wasn't. My guess is they have so many to send no one looks unless they are really overweight. There is no charge for this service but not all airlines are in the program and you have to have DCL transfers to get it. If ou can do it. Val

Thanks Val for the info on the DCL transfers. Now, I would worry big time about my bags not arriving, but I guess that mustn't happen or we would hear all about it on the Dis!!! So for normal transfers to a hotel, you put the, outside the night before as normal, but don't actually pick them up in the morning yourself but just have them arrive in your room at some point? Now that would be fantastic to not have to do a baggage hunt after disembarking.

I can't actually see my hubby liking the bags to not be under his control though.:confused3

I am just heartbroken!

There is a company called Home Again that is an agency that will allow you to send email blasts when your dog is missing. It has to do with the microchip in the dog.

I just recieved one regarding a dog and his name and the address he is missing from is the same as our first foster puppy.

I have emailed his new owner to please let me know when he is found. I am just so sad about this! He was so sick when we got him and we thought we were going to lose him but he recovered. He was our first puppy adopted too. I am sure the family is just sick about it.

I just needed to post something I guess...I can't post it on FB as my daughter is on there and i don't want to make her worry.

DCL transfers from what I understand though I have never done it but will for this trip the night before you will get a letter stating what time to have your luggage and tags ready. I have heard between 8-9 am it will go via truck to the Wonder ahead of the bus. The bus time will also be on the letter as well. I have heard after 1130am do not expect to be at Port Canaveral before 1pm. If doing magic express just tag your bags and they should arrive 3-4 hours after you get to your Disney resort.

Bob here. Valerie asked me to describe copying an image from one place to another. I don't want you to feel I'm making this too basic, but I don't know the level of your Windows experience. I used to be the computer guy:teacher: (long ago) at a newspaper, and you have NO idea how specific I sometimes had to be with reporters. They're trained to ask Joe Smith how he spells his name!

To "move" an image from Disboards to a Word (or other program's) document:

Start with a document where the image will end up (that is, create or open a Word or other "destination" document).

Click the browser source icon (where the image comes from, which holds the Disboard image) at the bottom of the screen, in the task bar. Open the page containing the image, then right-click the image to get a menu; slide up or down until you've highlighted Copy, then release the button. The image has just been pasted to your "clipboard."

Navigate back to the destination document. Click the mouse where you want the image to go. Right click again, and select Paste.

The image should now be on the "destination" document. The original image should still be in the source document.

There may be an even easier way, depending on how your computer and applications are set up. You can just click and drag the image off the screen to the task bar, and when you hold it over the icon for the destination (still holding the left mouse button) that document opens. Now move up to where you want it in the destination and release. I love it when that works! Best wishes.

Hey Everyone, just wanted to share my excitement over my new Mickey gold hook bracelet that I had custom designed!!

I love the bracelet!!!

I am just heartbroken!

I just recieved one regarding a dog and his name and the address he is missing from is the same as our first foster puppy.

If you could send some pixie dust for this puppy - thanks!

Well part one of my four part vacation is coming to a close. Ad a great day in the MK and EPCOT. We had dinner at the new Via Napoli. I really liked it. Off to the Wonder for parts 2 and 3 of the vacation with part 4 starting in a week. On the 3 night part of the B2B my friend from DCL will be sailing. We can't wait to just chill in the new Outlook cafe.

http://www.tranquiloaruba.com

DH and I are currently booked on the DCL Sail and Snorkel in Aruba. I'll talk it our with him and see if we want to switch over to this one. I like the longer time frame and less crowded. I have to hope I don't get mistaken for a whale or seal by a shark.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks guys, Aruba it is.
I am hoping for a Rangers/Phillies World Series.
World series?

Cheers,
Sally :)
Have a good day off.

If you could send some pixie dust for this puppy - thanks!

Morning everyone!
Just a quick checkin to say hi. Busy day today so I have to wake up extra early...just stick the needle in and keep the caffeine coming!
Des, I'm so glad the puppy was found! What a horrible thing for you to have to worry about.
Lynne, the World Series is the final baseball competition. Like the Super Bowl for football or the World Cup for soccer. BTW I forgot to tell you how beautiful YOU looked in your pic...I was too busy commenting on your dad! I loved the purple and black that you found for villan night. Paying homage to my favorite villian =0)

Alan, have a great time on your cruise--oh, and one more thing...someday the Giants WILL rise and I will be there to watch you eat your words =0)

Val, thanks for the info on Aruba. I'm so tempted to go with you all, but imy kiddo is finally old enough to scuba so we are going to try the discover scuba excursion and see how we like it..."get our feet wet" so to speek

I can't remember who mention this, but I checked yesterday and there are only about 5 total excursions that are full so there is still LOTS available.

Well, another HOT one here today! I know I should be grateful, but I am getting sick of using the a/c. I went running last night at 6:30 and it was over 80 deg F! But, at least we don't have humidity, so the mornings and evenings are cool.

Oops, 5am, time to stop doddling and get ready--gotta be out of the house by 5:30!

I hope everyone has a great day!

She has worked so hard this past year on tap and got the part that she wanted! She is going to be a Toy Solider (basically a mini version of the Radio City Musical Hall Show). When I showed her the cast list she screamed and almost started crying. It was so very cute!!!

One can never have enough shoes. I have expensive tastes too. If I ever get this last 20 pounds off, I'm buying myself a pair of Manolo Blahniks (have the pair picked out already). I'm not packing anymore than 5 pair this time either. I actually pick out my shoes first and them pick 3-4 outfits that go with those shoes. These days I go for comfort over style. Of course, I will have to bring a dressy pair for Palo and formal night. I know there are a lot of Crocs haters in the world but I love their women's heels/wedges. BTW, they are having a sale on the Farrah style, got them for $15.99 each with $2.99 shipping on my entire order plus no tax when shipping to FL. I hope you decide to join us, it really sounds like a fun time. I especially want to try the drift snorkel. As you can see from the pictures on the web site, the reef is very protected so there is no danger of being swept out to sea, plus there is a small boat to get us back to the boat. I have a message into Anthony to ask for more details regarding the fishing opportunity. Also, DisneyCruisers83, Tess's DH has mobility issues so I want to find out if we can taxi him over to the boat and avoid the 15 min. walk. If we can, I was thinking we could take everything people might be carrying, i.e. their own snorkel gear too.
I hope we can make this happen. Let me know if you have any questions I can pass on to Anthony.

Can't say much about shorter versus longer trips but do want to mention the concern about getting back on time. Because the Aruba tour is a private charter we can ask him to get us back at any time we feel we want back by. So if Disney's should change their schedule we can change the return time. Right now the ship is scheduled to leave at 5:00 and I have asked him to have us back no later then 3:30. If the group wants an earlier time I'll request that.

I know what you mean about people getting back to the ship with 0 mins to spare. That does drive me crazy, I am always looking at my watch to make sure I am never late. My DH - not so much. But my mom use to say "some people will be late for their own funeral" and I think it is true. On the TA cruise in St. Maarten the dockworkers were all waiting around for one more bus of people to return. When the bus arrived there was one young lady a full pier length behind the rest strolling down while the entire ship waited. Later I heard her in the lounge bragging how the entire ship waited for her and watched her strut in. What a rude brat. val

He is doing just a good job on the website :worship::worship: and it has to be tough doing that and all his other responsibilities at the same time.

On the shoe subject - I work in a causal environment so I don't have as many as I did when I had to wear something other than jeans or capris to work. I do love my Birkenstocks though - but 6 of 7 pairs of those don't take up as much room as that many pairs of heels in a suitcase - tennis shoes are the worst. Gotta wear those on the plane - right after I buy a new pair that is.

Sorry you won't be joining us but hope you have a great experience with the intro to scuba. We did that on a past cruise and my DH LOVED it. He would be thrilled to do it again but I have inner ear issues which don't allow me to equalize the pressure and it is very painful for me, even when I only go down 10 feet. Went to an ENT who gave me pills to try but no go. Plus when I put on the tanks, no matter how much I adjusted the weights I felt like a turtle who couldn't right her self, kept turning onto my back.

Northern California is also experience unusual hot weather, I know all of you in the rest of the country will laugh but it has been in the high 80s for 3 days and we are dying. Most in SF do not have ac in their homes, instead we hang out in the frozen section of the grocery store. We also can't deal with temps below 50. I know we are such wimps.

They have an introduction to scuba here in Havasu the 1st Sat. of the month. They supply all the equipment and you get to try it for free in the community pool. It was a bit embarassing when I wouldnt sink. They had to keep adding weights, lol! I did enjoy it, but also had a bit of a panic attack.

I am doing the sail/snorkel with ValBob89. The drift sounds wonderful. DH wont snorkel so he will be eating pea soup while we check out the reef

Here is a link to last years promo video...it shows just a sampling of this amazing Christmas show!

Gongrats!

:woohoo: WONDERFUL news!!!!!! If you don't mind me asking, was the microchip instrumental in finding the puppy? Cinder is microchipped and it does make me feel better in case she was to get . It's just nice to hear success stories :goodvibes

From what she emailed me...her son found the puppy...said he spent 2 hours looking for him. I know they were just heartbroken...so glad he is home safe and sound!

Val

We also don't know how to drive in the rain. There's no rain at all during the summer, so by the time it starts raining in November, we've all forgotten how to do it - so the roads are a mess. :rolleyes1

Brooklyn, I love your signature and like others have said I may try to use it on a tshirt. But I was wondering if you could post or PM me the image of just the Disney Wonder writing, I love how you have the official font. Also where in SD are you from? I went to college at USD and lived in La Jolla, I miss it so much!

Does anyone know where the link is to Jeff's "cleaned up" version of the 'official' cruise graphic we voted for the tshirt? Is it on the website or somewhere on the thread, if someone could help me find the page?

We live in Tierrasanta. My husband is stationed in Coronado and we love it here!

We're staying at the HoJo Anaheim. Anyone else?

PC 05 ~ 16 pair of shoes......PC 08 ~ 12 pair of shoes.....hmmm:rolleyes: WONDERing can I get it lower than that...:rotfl2:

1. HoJo Anaheim just remodeled their rooms - they are pretty decent as HoJo goes. Stayed at a HoJo in my misadventure in NY - and let's jut say that I WOULD NEVER stay at that one again. ( Queens NY,)

2. I ended up taking about 9 prs of shoes and only 1 was a pair of heels. Coordinated my formal, semi's and dress-up with my 1 pair of pumps. Thought was was pretty good for me. :cutie:

3. Does anyone know if they have the Villians show on here?

4. Des, glad the puppy was found. I would die if I lost any of my girls. Yes, even Chloe.

Now, off I go to shower, DD has a game at St Bernard & I'm supposed to help. Just can't get into this helping schedule.

If we all stick together we will be so BIG we will scare the shark, lol!!

I am doing the sail/snorkel with ValBob89. The drift sounds wonderful. DH wont snorkel so he will be eating pea soup while we check out the reef

I've only snorkeled a couple of times in Kauai so I was teasing my DH when we signed up for the DCL excursion that I hoped there was safety in numbers so I wouldn't run into Bruce (the shark). My DH loves to snorkel and will stay in the water forever. I'll talk to him tonight about switching, last night was too crazy at our house.

Does anyone know if they have the Villians show on here?

I don't think so. As far as I know, that is only being done on the Magic. For stage shows, we will have "Toy Story", "Golden Mickey's" and "Disney Dreams". I am assuming they will fill in the rest with variety acts and maybe some special guests. But, perhaps someone who has done a PC cruise in the past can elaborate more.

Started shopping for my Secret Mickeys today. This is going to be fun! Last night, we started our list of all OTC that we might need and Rx that we will need. Most of them we already have so I went ahead and started packing them in our small duffel bag. Can't believe how quickly it is approaching.

We're going camping tomorrow night. It's finally cool enough to do so and we are looking forward to it. We're heading to the store to pick up food and look for some Peeps. I'm sure most of you have eaten a roasted marshmallow. But have you tried a roasted Peep? They are so yummy :goodvibes

Oh, and more great work Brooklyn! DD just loved it. And of course i do too!!!

I have the list updated. There is one party that send a visitor message with their info (loislane or something like that) but they didn't include all their info. So that is one more room.

The following disboards are getting 1 more PM today to reconfirm and if I don't hear back from them by Monday, they'll be removed.

Heard back from Anthony regarding a taxi to the ship and fishing info. He is what he wrote:
"Cabs are at the ready at the gate of the cruise terminal, have them drop off at the Seaport Casino! We will be at the fuel dock right behind that casino. I believe the fee would be around $ 7 but I’m not sure. We troll a fishing line while under way, nothing serious but might as well try our luck since we’re on the water. Fishing enthusiast are welcome to reel in any this we may hook up with.

Regards,

Anthony. "

Well think of it this way- the entertainment department spends several months learning the shows BEFORE they get on the ship. from what i understand, tehy dont cross polinate so to speak by learning each others shows. i do have it on good authority that there are some other things being planned for this cruise by the enteertainment department, but not so far anything resembling shows from the other ships (Dreams is rehearsing now off the ship too!!)

and when you see "Dreams" pay special attention to my close friend Ann Marie!

Morning All (just - nearly the afternoon).

Brooklyn - congrats to your daughter, and I'm loving your graphics - very vibrant !

Melissa - thanks so much for checking the excursions for me. I finally sat Dh down last night to ask him to agree/disagree with the ones I've picked. I don't think the ones we want to do are popular choices. Well, fingers crossed anyway.

Things are really rolling along here - we're getting close to our 60 day window for DL restaurant bookings, so I'm in touch with my DU agent for that atm

Also booked our Supershuttle transport in LA.

I'm a wee bit bummed, though, as I made a mistake on our UA flight out of LAX - upgraded us all to Premier Travel Plus, only to realise the kids won't be allowed in the Red Carpet Club :headache:

Now I'm trying to think of what to sort out in terms of formal/semi-formal wear. We don't do professional photos here, so it's a good opportunity to get everyone dressed up with some lovely pictures for once. I'm thinking we may go with a black and white "theme". Hmmmm....

Anyway, hope you're all surviving whatever the weather's dishing you out at the moment - it's very blustery here, with a near return to mid-winter temsp after a couple of days of very warm weather.

Oh, and 10 weeks until our holiday begins !!! YAY !!!
Cheers,

Just got home from seeing Secretariat. What a great movie. I highly reccomend it for the entire family. Saw previews for the new Narnia movie which comes out at Christmas. I wonder if it will be on the boat? I really like those movies.

Tomorrow is football Friday and back to Morgantown we go again. Leaving home at 1:30 for a 7:30 ballgame. My neighbor will take care of Jasmine. It is going to be a cold evening, just hope the rain stays away and we can pull out a victory!:cheer2:

Melissa
Ah, thanks for that, was wondering, it is America? and they call it the world, what other countries play?

Thanks for your kind words.
Jeff is still adding to the website. He was caught up (what you're seeing) but he's gotten another round of emails and PMs. We're now 14% of the available staterooms. :scared1:

Congrats!

One can never have enough shoes. I have expensive tastes too. If I ever get this last 20 pounds off, I'm buying myself a pair of Manolo Blahniks (have the pair picked out already). I usually pack around 8 pairs for the long cruises. I have a couple pairs that are multi-purpose. However, since we're shipping our bags home and not letting Delta get any more money from us, I may go ahead and pack more....:dance3:
Thanks again Jeff, 20lbs is doable for you Jen!!! ure amazing go get the shoes.
Woohoo! Thanks, we are officially a "tour group" and now have no worries about getting our private transportation!

Great! We'll be seeing you on deck 5 - we are on the other side of the ship 5520.

:scared1: I'm sooo showing this post to DH. He complained when I packed 5 pairs of shoes last time.
(They are on sale for $19.99 - sign up for their e-mail list and they will immediately send you an on-line coupon for 20% off your entire order. :thumbsup2)

Thanks! Post #1 is SO helpful, I really appreciate you keeping tracking of everything for us!
5 just,lol

What a rude brat. val

Val
Thanks Val, I wasnt refering to your trip, it sounds perfect and I know you guys will be back in town, I never booked yours as I want to explore the town in the afternoon, it looks pretty, and HOW rude is that????

Brooklyn - love the calendar- of course I love the Goofy on it. I wish we were staying on with you and goofprincess for the two days but we thought we would use that money to go to DL for a few days. We are anxious to see the World of Color.

It is a gloomy, rainy day here in CT. Anxious to get back to FL

We are still dealing with Delta. They reassigned our flight and now they called and said we would not have enough time to make our connection in Atlanta to Orlando so we are back to square one. I wish I did not have these vouchers because I would of went with SW and I would not have to deal with this.

Two ideas have been suggested for the Champagne Girls Gala; 1) An organized private champagne tasting (DCL instruction with tasting cost posted to your room charge), complete with pink boas and tiaras, or 2) BYOB (champagne, alcoholic or non, or beverage of your choice) girls only session, complete with pink boas and tiaras. The votes received indicate the preference is for an organized private tasting but if that is not possible we should go ahead with our own party. I have sent the following e-mail to DCL Function Request. Todate, have not heard back from them. Will keep you posted. Val

RE: Private Champagne Tasting on the 1-6-11 – 1-21-11 Panama Canal cruise on the Wonder

Good Morning:

Members of the DISboards are writing to request a private champagne tasting while on the January 2011 Panama Canal Cruise. The informal polling of this group shows consensus that the best experiences are those managed by Disney Cast in one of the many public rooms or clubs.

(photo provided by Noel Birkner)
We are members of the DISboards, a web site designed to give Disney fans a place to share their experiences with each other, and to assist each other in planning Disney vacations. The DCL thread is a venue which allows DCL cruisers to identify fellow Dis-board members on their specific sailing. We plan our trip, share information and organize special events on the cruise. We are faithful DCL cruisers and a large number of us are gold and platinum.

We can be identified by the decorated cabin doors, many with fish extenders for the gifts we leave for each other. We often sport special lanyards, tee-shirts and other identifying items. On the recent WBTA sailing, Heath Hyche, the headlining comic, mentioned the number of DISboard members onboard during his Walt Disney Theater act. Currently there are 292 members planning this PC cruise.

One event members of the board especially look forward to is the Champagne Girls get-together. Ladies wear pink boas and tiaras and enjoy conversation and beverages, especially champagne. The meeting is held on a sea day in the afternoon. Some sessions have been privately hosted in a member's suite with concierge-provided glasses. On some cruises DCL provided an organized champagne tasting; on one cruise this was provided by the Sommelier from Palo. On the TA crossing, Sean led a public wine-tasting in Lumiere's. We have had our own photographer, while other times a photographer from Shutters was in attendance.

We look forward to another wonderful DCL Champagne and sparkling wine experience with your help. Please let us know how you can assist us in planning an organized champagne tasting and what you would need from us.

Great email Val. Just FYI, we were told by special functions at DCL that they won't schedule/ book anything like that until November, hence why I haven't gotten back to anyone about the Wine Meet & Greet. If I hear anything I'll let you know.

I am an old literally) NW flier and, even with all that everyone said, I had great luck with them and that was where all my miles sat. And, I tried hard to give Delta my business but no more. Unless they are considerably less expensive than the other airlines at the airport of my choice - I will fly someone else. They have no idea what good customer service is - or even mediocre customer service. It appears that it is all about their bottom line - and I will feed someone else's with my dollar.

Hey Alan - can't wait for SW to take over AirTran and (hopefully) begin flying out of either Grand Rapids or Flint.

Gee, DCL certainly has not got the planning bug like the rest of us do. What is it with them and all the suspense anyway???

Well, TGIF, that is all I have to say on that subject as well.

Take care all!

I have contact the person who organized the meet on our last trip. She will be sending me some information, but currently she is on vacation (on the Wonder no less) and was having problems emailing information out from their hotel (pre-cruise). I hope to hear from her upon her return. As soon as I have any info, I will pass it on.

Ah, thanks for that, was wondering, it is America? and they call it the world, what other countries play?

Ahhh...I never thought of that! I guess I'm just so used to it that it never occured to me! You know how we Americans can be, often thinking we're the center of the Universe (insert wink here)! This probably also explains why we are only one of three (the other two being third world countries) who don't use the metric system...but, don't get me started on that as my opinion of the English System of Measure is comparable to Alan's opinion of the Giants--(who are in the playoffs BTW) =0)
... and HOW rude is that????
HAs she never heard of the ying and yang?
I quite agree...I can never understand how some people feel that their needs and desires are more important than everyone elses.

I think we get toy story, yippee

What about "Twice Charmed"...is that only a Magic one? I've only been on the Wonder for a 4 day cruise so I never really thought about it until now...I like that one!
Have a good day All! I have a few more questions, but my thumbs are tired! I need a real keyboard to do this!

Where can we go for a sailboat ride, lunch, and some snorkeling in the most beautiful coastline this side of Venezuela? Tranquilo, a 43-foot charter sailboat in Aruba. Unfortunately, the DCL excursion is kind of short a large group and requires you wear snorkel belts, so we found this outfit listed on tripadvisor.com. After reading the reviews and trading a few e-mails with the friendly guys who sail the tours, here’s my pitch (not theirs): http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g147251-d1009676-Reviews-Tranquilo_Charter_Cruises-San_Nicolas_Aruba.html
With 12 or more people to join Valerie and me (minimum 14), Tranquilo will sail us an hour south from the Wonder to a snorkeling paradise for two hours of water or dockside playtime, with the option of fishing, too. (Anthony wrote: “We troll a fishing line while under way. Fishing enthusiasts are welcome to reel in any this we may hook up with.”)
Interesting coral formations are found from shallow water depths, with little or no current and flat surface conditions.
http://www.tranquiloaruba.com/wp-content/uploads/img_tours_south.jpg
You may also choose to try a different type of snorkeling, drift snorkeling. The Tranquilo will launch a small boat and accompany “drift snorkeling” passengers as the gentle currents carry us through deeper water, allowing us to relax as we watch for exotic fish and corals in “Aruba’s most virgin reef.” Sometimes enroute, porpoise show up; flying fish are pretty regular guests. It might take a sharp eye to spot sea turtles, we’re told. Local birds include pelicans, brown ****ies, magnificent frigate, sea hawk, terns and laughing seagulls.
Cost: $75 each. We walk about 15 minutes from the Wonder to the marina,(plans are to hire a taxi to bring cruiser with mobility issues and all gear) where we can board for a 9:30-3:30 trip, including narration, soup-and-sandwich lunch, fresh fruit, open bar, and snorkel gear if you don’t bring your own.
The family operating Tranquilo has been in the sail-tour business more than 30 years, and operates this tour for others three days a week. Licensed by Netherlands Antilles authorities for 22 passengers plus crew, they can accommodate more than the 14 minimum explorers, if the demand is high. Children are welcome, as are guests with limited mobility (though there’s not much space for stowing wheelchairs aboard, we were advised).
Come join us on an exciting but tranquil day. ValBob89

Brooklyn - I love the calendar! It's so cute!

We're all set to pick up our new puppy on Saturday, now I need to come up with a name...maybe Lily. She'll be an adorable orange & white brittany spaniel. :dogdance:

Oh, pictures PLEASE!!! Brittanies are stunning dogs and even cuter puppies! I need another puppy fix!!
Congrats on the new addition! When we got our only girl Brit, we had a choice between two and one of them had a larger than normal "freckle" on her face (like a beauty mark). I wanted that one so I could name her "Cleopatra" and call her "Cleo," but my (now ex) husband wouldn't have it as he saw it as a flaw--silly,silly man! Anyway, my point is that I love thinking of the perfect name for each dog. Good luck with that as well, and I think "Lily" is great...by any chance is it "Tiger Lily" as "Tink" may have sent her to you from Neverland?

Thanks for the comment - I think (haha). I do write a great complaint letter and can negotiate a contract with the best of them. Miss going rounds with a room a lawyers. My first job was handling complaints for a large company and from that experience learnt a number of things, 1) you do get more with honey then vinegar, being abusive is never acceptable 2) short of raising someone from the dead, there is never "nothing that can be done", you just have to find the right person who can do it 3) be honest, be well informed, and firm but business like- lowering your voice often has a better result then raising it. 4) maybe most importantly, pick your battles. val

A chance to participate in an exchange of postcards during your voyage.

The idea is that people buy postcards of their area/country/town/city etc and deliver a postcard to each person on the list. They don't need to be written on or anything but I'm sure people would like to have something on there to let them know who it was from. If people do want to write a little note on theirs about their country or town then that’s OK too. Some people elect to make their own postcard using photos they have taken. Others printed local recipes on a card. It is great fun to come back to your cabin and find mail.

So far we have around 21 staterooms taking part and you don't have to be in the Fish Extender Exchange to join in - but please let me know if you don't have an FE as then I can make a note on the list so people know not to expect one and can place the cards directly in the Fish Holder (they are built to hold letters etc anyway).

If anyone would like to take part that isn't on the list let me know.

Val, great job on the e-mail! :thumbsup2 I hope we hear more in November.

What is this two day "cruise to nowhere" of which you speak?

After the PC, before the first MR, Disney left 2 days open. I think they were planning some kind of executive cruise or something. Well, then they decided to sell the cruise instead (why throw a party for executives when you can make money?). It is just embarkation day, a sea day and final breakfast. Going by the meet thread, it will mostly be Californians wanting a weekend getaway. It is lovingly referred to as the "cruise to nowhere" or the "cruise to Neverland". http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x48/smjosephrn/SignatureVersionCtN.jpg

ROOM TOUR
How it works: Cruisers volunteer to let others visit their cabin and see what the different categories are like. Lynne, Orandthebeagle, who has organized room tours on other cruises, has wisely and kindly offered the advise that we not firmup which rooms we will tour until the GTY rooms have been assigned and upgrades made. But here is a list of people who have generously offered their room at this time and the categories we are still looking for. Val

Halloween is nothing here - we live in a rural area and we just don't turn on the lights so it all goes well. Since I figure no one will be around for Thanksgiving, that will also be a no brainer and Christmas is still up in the air.

Well, happy Saturday everyone. DH just left to work the Trading Post at camp again this weekend, will be home noonish tomorrow. Good morning cruisers! Beautiful day here in maryland! Sunny, not hot, not cold. little cool for me, but i dread winter and look forward to going on this cruise to get out of the cold in Jan.

I have so much to do and no umph to do it with. still have a bunch of daddys clothes here. the lady i was going to donate them to (she works with a halfway house) wont call me back. Goodwill is going to be very happy very soon. and i need need need to get to the gym. havent been since sunday. it shows. and i need to clean out my closet. i have stuff in there i've not worn in years! and i need to order FE gifts. just can't make up my mind on what to get or from where! or how much i can afford to spend. sigh. Did get my checkbook balanced, finally, to within 6 cents. to me that's balanced.

so i can mail a package of stuff to the ship before hand. that's good. and someone suggested one of the one price boxes to ship stuff from la home. not cheap way to do it but cheaper than overage on plane. so that's good. guess i'll go through my clothes today and go to gym and start planning the packing.

you all have a great day!

Nearly 1.30am here, I can't sleep - too much on my mind :guilty: Plus, taking advantage of the fact I only get one Saturday a month off from work. Sipping a Cointreau neat always helps ;)

I'm glad we don't really "do" Halloween, and of course, we don't do Thanksgiving. Plus, we leave Christmas Day. I feel for you all who have those to get through. I've got plenty of other "stuff" on my plate, though - I have a 3 day residential training course for Cub Scouts in 4 weeks, and a 2 day training course for work in a couple of weeks. Plus DS has a massive Ancient Egypt project due Monday, and DD1 has her end-of-year exams in 3 weeks. Add to that the Shakespeare festival, umpteen Christmas parties, Speech night, Presentation Day, oh, and my 40th birthday, and things are quite manic enough for the next 10 weeks :scared1:

Anyway, I love the idea of a "cabin viewing". Not sure if you'd all want to see one of our two - we're staying in two Navigator's Cabins on deck 5. Let me know.

I really *must* get to bed - DD4 is my early riser and will be in my ear at 6am. Been bopping away most of the night to an array of songs - everything from Phil Collins to Phantom of the Opera to Little Red, so need to unwind a little first.

Night all !

Cheers,
Sally :)

Sherri - you posted while I was typing ! I hope the clearing out of stuff isn't too difficult for you. That was the hardest part when my little sister passed away - finding the will to give away so much of her stuff :(

Good luck at the gym - I've been in a funk the last couple of weeks and haven't been in all that time (and I can assure you, being pooh sized, I *really* need to keep going !)

You do bring me to a question I was poindering earlier - how early do you all start to pack ? i know Alan said he's last minute.. I've started with a list, but that's probably all I'll do until we're about 1-2 weeks from leaving.

Cheers,
Sally :)

Hi Sally! Nice to see you back! It sounds like you'll really have your hands full over the next couple of months. Let me join you in the madness. We have so many social functions on, on top of the school commitments, arranging Christmas overseas, having make up Christmas gatherings with family, and trying to get our plans for our new house into council before we leave on Dec 9. I will also be away for work for the 3 days before we leave with my husband being on call...To make things worse, we've had ongoing difficulties with making reservations. Despite exchanging multiple emails and having had to call the US 2 nights in the row at about 40 minutes each, after which I received an apology email from DCL with a promise to help resolve further issues via email...we are now unable to access our reservation completely. When I emailed them about it...twice. I was given a standard response both times, asking me to call them. I give up. I'm so frustrated.

The room tour sounds nice. If you need a cat 6, we're a GTY 6A. Anyway, I'd better go to bed. Its 130am.

Sally and Belinda, and everyone else who's posted - i dont know how you are doing what you are doing!! wow! overseas esp. I can't seem to get motivated to do anything. i think i'm still depressed. my cousin has received a foreclosure notice too and i feel so badly i can't help her. I had to help get rid of some of my mom's stuff, but not as much. and i didnt help at all when, 27 years ago my 40 year old brother was lost to us forever, I have to say i was no help at that funeral or after either. i feel so badly now. but i look to the future. My dad was only sorry not to see one of his grandchildren married so that will be hard when one does get married.

ok so back at the question at hand: i dont actually pack till during the week before. I have a florida packing list but it is just a start for something like this. there was a whole stream of discussion about doing laundry on the cruise. DH and I will absolutely be doing laundry on the cruise! I hope y'all don't mind seeing the same 5 or so outfits over and over. jk, i'll have more than that, but not much. it's coordinating that meds dont run out before the cruise and how does one pack the shampoos we prefer and that kind of thing that boggle. and of course it sounds like lots of sweatshirts needed for night and coats and shorts for days and jeans and cruise casual and .... HELP!!! anyone have a packing list for a 15 day like this? especailly those who've been one one before! I will, contrary to some, only have 2 sets of sneakers, 2 low heels and 2 sandals max (oh and flop flops for beach) for shoes!

and those with families not coming - what are you doing about being semi-reachable? i'mthinking i'll see if i can find an international phone card and call DD and DS and maybe sister from each port? what are your thoughts? (those who remember who i am may remember DD spent a week in the hospital a few weeks go,so when her disease acts up, i worry,so i like to know she's ok, and DS seems to injure himself in sports so i worry. i'm a master worrier!

thanks!
Sherri

My DH and I would be interested in signing up for the postcard exchange...but I don't have quite enough posts to PM yet (I'm working on it, slowly but surely :flower3:)!

Welcome. I'll add you to the post card exchange list. When you can PM, send me the details. Val

Night all !

Cheers,
Sally :)
Sally

Thank you for offering your cabin for the room tour. I'll add you to the list as "offers". After we get the final (almost final?) list of cabin assignments we can sort out which ones to include in the tour. Is yours a 7A? What is the room number? Have a good Saturday. Val

Packing - in my Excel spreadsheet I have a page for packing list divided by category - electronics - clothes - household (for when we dvc) - cooler (for auto trips) - Dimples (teddy bear = vast wardrobe) - miscellaneous - cruise only (evening wear, FE gifts, dry boxes)

I have the last 10 years of spreadsheets, filed by year. They get copied over every year and updated for that years trips, so I don't have to reinvent the wheel.

Toiletries bag stays packed all the time - replenished after every trip. camera gear & related chargers have their own zipper bag, computer cords, mouse, extension cord go in a zipper bag.

"Cruise only" Stuff except evening clothes stays packed in a box because it is never used any other time - evening bags, tiara, glow sticks (for nightlights), dry boxes, water shoes, tropical theme straw tote, "hawaiian" shirt, command hooks, over-the-door shoe bag, hamper, post its, highlighters, duck tape, teddy bear pirate outfits, collapsable hamper, etc.

Dimples' list stays the same, pretty much, it's just a matter of which princess dress and which party dress.

Obviously, for a cruise, I don't need household box, but I do pack ziplock bags in every size & a tiny dishwash soap. Don't need a cooler either, really, but I put an insulated lunchbag in my suitcase for water and snacks on excursions or the beach.

Hope that sparks some ideas.

I'll buy some computer time and check email every couple days. There's a phone number where you can be called in case of emergency. I leave that with several people back home, but don't expect to be called short of catastrophe.

Just pop in and say random things like "I am so excited about this cruise" or we could help you out with questions...so...where are you from? Have you cruised with DCL before? Any favorite sports team? What knid of excursions do you want to do?
Answer all of those in different posts and you're golden =0)

Is anyone else having nightmares about Christmas? I dreamt I woke up on Christmas morning and I had forgotten to get presents for everyone! Do you think I am preoccupied with something else? But, I did finally get my Hallooween decorations up last night...better late than never!

We also live in a rural area, no sidewalks or street lights, so no trick-or-treaters. Thanksgiving our grandson is coming so we will celebrate Christmas then. He is the only one getting gifts this year as we had the expense of the wedding. So no stressing about any of the holidays here.

I hope you all have a great day and weekend!
Melissa

I have a packing list I printed off one of the DIS boards. I have started a suitcase (and it's almost full!) of SM gifts, toiletries, shoes, water bottles, bathing suits, etc. The actual clothes wont be packed (but will be segragated so I know what's going) until a few days before we leave.

Just finished SM gifts yesterday. Now working on some more door decorations, as if I dont have enough already. Printed out Brooklyn's calendars and counting down the days til Friday evening when I can book excursions and Palo. Really only booking something in Costa Rica. We hope to do the sail with Val & Bob in Aruba, nothing in Manzanillo, zipping in PV and nothing in Cabo.

Does anyone know if the drink station has soda water?

Hi all,

Off to two soccer games today and finishing up getting ready for our schools book fair.
This is my first year co-chiring and I'm very nerves.

I'm with you on the packing thing. I think I just need to sit down and start making lists. Im starting to feel overwhelmed. I've had this trip planed for so long that the other day when I looked at the calendar I totally freaked out :scared1: because it just accrued to me that we would be gone for 3 weeks. :lmao:. I think Im loosing my mind. Yes! Over a year ago and Im just figuring this out NOW! :scared:
