Sadly, because I cannot get the time off work I cannot be a newbie at your meet, but my son works at the UK Pavillion at Epcot, and I have told him all about you all and lime green ribbons! Is there any chance that anyone would stop by and say hi please. So far he has met Penny a mod, but no-one else from 'our family.'
His name is Simon, and his tag says Folkestone. He works in merchandise, and you can't miss him he's huge!!!!!!
Thanks. Carolyn ( a proud Mum! )

We will be sure to seek him out.
You had better warn him because he is going to wonder what in the world is going on when all these people start coming into the UK and hunting him down. ;)
Nah, it is better to be a surprise. He'll catch on after the few hundred or so. :p

Well, that's the thing I think he is all over the place! I actually bumped into him totally by accident whilst doing Rope duty at International Gateway (to stop people going the 'wrong way' around WS before it opens). You can't miss him when he's around...tall and broad :) But failing that I'd maybe ask a CM at any of the UK shops because I am sure they will know him and if/where he's working that day.

Wow, thank you so much all of you for your fantastic response. I can assure you that Simon will love meeting each and every one of you, and that personal interaction is exactly why Simon loves this job so much. It may not always be easy to find him, because they rotate around all the shops and the two outside carts all through the day according to where the computer tells them to go. Also, he works 10.30am to 9.30pm 4 days per week except when he is on early morning rope drop at International Gateway, which is where Penny saw him. However her description is exactly right he is very tall and very wide!!!!!!! Thanks again , and please do keep looking for him. He will enjoy this so much.:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
Sure, Carolyn, I'll be glad to stop by and say hello to your son. This will be fun. :)

Sorry being what you might call technically challenged I scanned a photo of Simon in, and went to post it but fell at the last fence!!! Is it right that you have to send it from a web address???? If so then I haven't got one!!!! I think you may just have to trust Penny's description. Tall and um wide. LOL Carolyn

I am evil !:) I keep getting visions of a great practical joke....like every single DISer presenting him with a clean pair of socks "from Mum" or something in the same vein.......maybe a can of soup, or a box of mac and cheese......;) all with a message of concern from Mum.

That would just be so funny, and I would LOVE to see his face!!!!! I wonder how long it would take him to realise LOL:smooth: ;) :smooth: ;)
Oh I think this would be a riot!!!!!!
Who all is up for it?????!!!!
I am thinking that "warm socks", scarf, mittens for the
cold Florida winter might be fun!

How long has your son been there? I met a CM at the UK a little more than a year ago and he noticed my lime green DIS Towncrier button. Has Simon been there that long?
CarolynU
09-16-2002, 04:00 PM
Simon has only been there since July 10th so I guess it wasn't him you saw. I did mention to Simon ages ago about lime green ribbon, but so far he has only met Penny. Aha but he doesn't know what awaits him!!!!! LOL

OK I'll post his work schedule a bit nearer the time. It seems to change very frequently, and he never knows more than a week or two in advance. Ha Ha I can't wait to hear how surprised he is!!!!!! Carolyn

CarolynU
11-26-2002, 02:23 PM
OK here are Simon's shifts for next week. He is working every day except Thurs, however on Fri, Sat and Sun he will only be in the ' UK' at Epcot from 5.30 to 9.30, because they are overtime shifts. If the parks are quiet on those days though Disney could still give him ' early release '. I really hope that he gets to meet so many great people, and take Zurg's advice wear something for the rain!!!! LOL

Carolyn,
Yep - here's another DISer who met your Simon :)
You have a great son -- Penny and I chewed his ear off for several hours at Kimono's the other night. I also dropped by the UK pavillion to harass him on Friday night as well, before we kidnapped him for a night at the Adventurer's Club :)
I don't think I will ever forget the fun ride from Epcot to Pleasure Island in what I have since dubbed "The Simon-mobile". Wait til you see his car! I don't think I've ever had so much fun (Bobcat and MsKanga....where are all those feathers? LOL)
Please give Simon my best - and that I'll be sure to say hello again when I'm back at the World in late May :)

OH my goodness I can't believe what I am reading you are all so very kind about him. I do wish that I could chat to him about your time together, but with him working all the time and the 5 hour time difference it makes phoning almost impossible. Hey what's all this corruption I keep reading about ?????? LOL Do you know I have not even seen his car yet.All I keep hearing about are the number of times it seems to break down!!!! Anyway thanks again to you all, and yes I am proud, but don't tell him. Carolyn

Kevin and I met Simon on Sunday, Dec. 1st. This was our first day in the parks and we just happened to find him in one of the UK shops. (Luckily, it was too cold for him to be outside squirting people!!) I never would have dreamed he is only 18!!

Yes, we met Simon as well and have pix to prove it! Oh, the look on his face when he saw the chocolates Emma (Pixie Power!) brought him!!! Carolyn, he is adorable and such a wonderful young man! I am amazed that he is actually only 18--he is very mature for his age. And he really seemed to enjoy "hanging" with all us "old" people who have kids older than he is!!! Hope to see him again.

Have just read these last posts, and thank you again for all the kind comments. In fact he is one of the youngest on the International Programme, but I guess his size makes him appear older, and he does have a very independent nature. I have managed to speak with him now, and he really told me how much he enjoyed meeting you all and spending time with you. I think it will appear very quiet for the next few weeks but we are all going out to see him just after Xmas, and even his sister said that she is looking forward to seeing him again!!!!!!! LOL
