Hi! My name is Lisa. I have been procrastinating doing a planning journal but finally decided that I would give it a try. I loved reading all of the other PJs. I also noticed that today is 1 year, 1 month, 1 week and 1 day until our wedding so I better get busy! Here goes...

This is us!
http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc454/LRecca/DSC01419.jpg

Here is some background...

My name is Lisa and I am 41 years old and have never been married. I was convinced that I would never have to "settle" for someone and when I met Geoff, I knew I wouldn't! I am an elementary school principal and LOVE my job. I started as a teacher and have been an administrator for the past 8 years, just completing my first as principal. My life just seems to be "falling into place" just the way I had hoped.

My fiance's name is Geoff. He is 33 years old and also has never been married. I guess he was looking for me! LOL He is a Manager at Pier 1 Imports and is the love of my life. He has a heart of gold and truly makes me a better person. He has a wonderful sense of humor and I love being with him everyday!

We met in November of 2000 and have been together for 7 years.

We got engaged on June 6, 2010.

We got engaged on June 6, 2010...

http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc454/LRecca/Ring.jpg

This is my ring. It is very sentimental to me as the center stone belonged to my maternal grandmother. She and my grandfather were married over 50 years when my grandfather died. I think the stone has great energy and means alot. We also have our wedding bands already!

I actually started wedding planning for Disney's Vero Beach. Geoff and I have been on vacation there and just love it. I got in touch with the wedding contact at DVBR and started looking at packages and stuff. I wanted 11-11-11 which is a Friday night. Unfortunately, they do not book or pencil anyone in before the year mark. We started talking about what we wanted and the most important thing for us was to have our immediate family there and do what WE wanted and not what everyone else wanted us to do.

We looked at doing a Disney Cruise Wedding but Geoff didn't think his parents would be too excited. We mentioned the idea to them and they were so excited. We decided to do a Disney cruise on the Disney Dream and the ball started rolling...

Our plan then was to have just family on the ship and then have a reception when we came back. I found a great venue and started looking at all I needed to do...it was like planning for 2 weddings! Ugghh!! I will tell you, running a school all day and then trying to plan a wedding reception was just too much! We then decided to invite all of our closest friends and families on the cruise. OH WHAT FUN WE WILL HAVE!!

Thank you! We did have a date we wanted, but we had to postpone the wedding, we both got laid off from our jobs and were both working just part time for now to have something coming in with the unemployment , and to pay for health insurance.:headache: But we try to look on the positive side, so we don't go nuts:laughing:

As soon as Geoff and I decided that we would get married on Castaway Cay, I called to try and see what was available and when I would be able to book it. I called on June 28, 2010 and Shanda called me back the next day and told me she could hold it for me until I made my cruise reservation. I booked a cruise at that moment and called her back and she booked the wedding! It was WAY easier than I thought it would be. I could not believe she called me back as quickly as she did. I started looking for invitations/Save the Dates.

I looked EVERYWHERE and couldn't find exactly what I wanted. I decided to make them and had several prototypes to choose from. This is the one I liked the best. Geoff and I had been on a Disney cruise in May, 2009 and took lots of pictures. I used a picture of CC from our balcony and a picture of a drink Geoff ordered when we got back to the ship and were sitting on deck. It was called a "Buried Treasure" and was delicious!

http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc454/LRecca/DSC_0850.jpg

As of today, we have 13 staterooms booked and many more that are in the process of booking. I am sure we will all have a great time.

So the other day I was online looking for the tradition of something old, something new... The original saying goes like this...

Something old and something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a sixpence for your shoe.

Also printed in the card which I am not sure if you can read is "Tradition says if a bride wears an English sixpence coin in the shoe of her left foot on her wedding day her marriage will be blessed with wealth."

http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc454/LRecca/SP1.jpg
http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc454/LRecca/SP2.jpg

I ordered a sixpence from 1927, the year my grandparents (who are no longer with us) were married. I have the engagement stone from my grandmother in my engagement ring. Since I am getting married on the beach and will most likely not have shoes on, I am having a jeweler put a loop on it and I will wear it as an ankle bracelet. It was very reasonable to buy and if you don't want a specific year they start at $8.95. The website is www.silversixpence.com The silver coin is much shinier than what the scan shows.

I saw your post on my "how to personalize DISigns using MS Word" thread and I thought I would pop over and check out your thread. You will definitely have to try to make a newsletter in Word for your guests that will be cruising for your wedding!

The other thing you will want to make for all of your guests is a magnet for their door. Milliepie and Bababear do cruise magnets on the "Creative Boards" if you need some help. You can find their links in the "meet the DISigners" sticky at the top of the creative boards forum. Milliepie has lots of great magnet DISigns in her shared files.

Also...in case you haven't heard about the "fish extender" craze. You should consider making fish extenders as a favor for all of your guests and do your own mini fish extender gift exchange.

Here is a thread that explains it in case you aren't familiar with the craze:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1219607

You can do a simple extender with a gift bag or if you can sew you can make them or if you know someone that sews...here is a thread with instructions:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=34238364#post34238364

If you don't have time to make one for everyone...you can at least put information in your newsletter so that your guests can log into the DISBoards and join a fish extender group on the boards.

Also check out the "what do you make for your vacation" thread as somewhere in there I posted a list of things you can put in fish extenders:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2179996

One more thing to check out...look in my 4shared file in the link in my signature and I have "travel planner pages" for going on a disney cruise in the "DCL" subfile. You could purchase white binders at Walmart, print out the pages and make travel planners for all of your guests (once they book their trip) to help get them excited about the trip!

All of that as if you don't have a full time job...

I love the idea of the sixpence! I'm going to look into it. The idea of wearing yours as an anklet is great. I really think it's a great way of honoring your grandparents.

Lisa - how were you able to book your wedding ceremony more than 1 year in advance? Did you call DCL or DFTW? I'm planning on a May 2012 wedding at Castaway Cay, and we are about to start our room block. My fiance and I called DFTW and they would not put us down for 5/19/12 because the date is greater than 12months. Any advice would be appreciated :)

I called DFTW and told them I was interested in booking a DCL wedding- I didnt give the original person a date that I wanted since I wasn't 100% set on a date but more interested in seeing what was available. The girl took a message and told me someone would call me back. Shanda called me back I think the next day and I told her the date I was looking at and she said to contact her as soon as I booked the cruise with my confirmation number and I did. That is when she added on the price of the wedding to my reservation. She did tell me that she was able to book it because they already had the 2011 prices. I was pleasantly surprised with how smoothly it went. She sent me all of the paperwork and my planning guide. I would tell you if they won't let you book it now, wait until January 2011 and they should have the 2012 prices and should let you book then. Good Luck!

I had so much fun working with Lisa on a few printables for her DCL Dreams Wedding that I couldn't wait to post them for her. She knew that she wanted her wedding colors of tangerine and green and a round logo with a ship in it to represent the cruise. From there she decided that she wanted to use her wedding logo on a candy bar wrapper and box for playing cards so that her guests would have something fun to do in their cabin, on the deck or hanging out at the beach on Castaway Cay! I'm sure she will post pictures of her finished products once she gets them made...but in the meantime, here are the printables that I designed for her wedding:

http://i415.photobucket.com/albums/pp232/jtanddolly/Pics/BlogPics.jpg

We are also working on another fun favor in honor of her DF! One of us will post a picture once we finish the extra special design.

Dolly is absolutely amazing and I love everything she has designed for me.

I was able to find playing cards at the Dollar Tree for $1.00 for a two deck package. Not too bad. I am in the process of getting things together for a gift bag. I will list the items I have found so far:

Tylenol
Sewing Kit
Wet Wipes
Hand Sanitizer
Mini First Aid Kit
Playing cards
Hershey Bar
Sunscreen
Disney Pens
Disney Post It notes
Disney Mints

I am working on a couple of other little things as well.

OK, things are moving right along. I got my dress and my tiara.

For the tiara, Amanda (another Disney bride) posted a picture of this tiara. I fell in love with it so she graciously told me she got it a store called The Sewing Room in Maitland. I showed it to my sister, Tina, and she agreed that it would be perfect. We got in the car and drove to Maitland in search of the tiara. Luckily, Maitland was only 30 minutes away and they had it. SO- infinite "thank yous" to Amanda for sharing where she bought hers! Notice the hidden Mickey right in the front of it. I really didn't want my wedding to scream Disney even though we are getting married on Castaway Cay.

Two weeks ago I was out shopping with my mom and aunt and we decided to just go "look" at wedding dresses. We walked into David's Bridal (without an appt. which I don't really suggest) and waited for a consultant. Looking at a million dressed all crammed onto a rack sure is intimidating...

I pulled about 7 dresses to try on and went into Room 11. I thought it was funny that it was Room 11 since we wanted to get married on 11-11-11 (we are getting married on 11-12-11) and my DF birthday is 1-11. We have lots of 1s and 11s around us. I put on the first dress and walked out of the room and about lost it! I really had to fight to hold back tears. This was the dress, no question about it.

I tried on several other dresses but just kept thinking about the first one. I put it back on and was absolutely sure. It is ivory (really light) chiffon and has beautiful beading under the bust that goes down the back of the dress. The picture does not do it justice. I didnt bring a camera to take a picture since I hadn't planned on buying a dress that day.

It will be perfect for a beach wedding and I was able to order it without the train as I didnt want to drag a train down the beach. I am very pleased with my purchase!

We had great luck today! I thought the guys shirts were going to be the hardest. We found a Tommy Bahama shirt that is perfect! I will post pictures on here tomorrow. I will also post pictures of the girls dresses. Do you know what suit you are getting or do you have something in mind??

Cannot wait to see! We did not have as much luck LOL Rob did not fit in any of the suits they had at Kohls they were all too tight around the arms so now I am going to have to go to a place and have him completely measured, hope it don't cost us an arm and a leg!

We did get his khakis for the wedding ceremony and a new bathing trunks for swimming...glad you made so much progress...I fell like I am slowly getting there!

I will. I just haven't had time to upload pics. I was going to do it Monday night and got sucked into The Bachelor. LOL Last night I had a PTA meeting at my school and didn't have the energy to do it. SO...I will do it tonight, hopefully!

OK, so we went to David's Bridal and were able to find dresses. :yay: Geoff and I are each having our siblings stand up for us. I have 2 sisters and he has a sister and brother. My niece and nephew (they are cousins to each other) will be our flower girl and ring bearer. They are both 5.

So here is the dress. It will be in clover green.

http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc454/LRecca/GirlsDress.jpg

None of the girls wanted strapless so we bought extra chiffon and they will have halters made to look like the top of this dress. This dress is actually the color they will be wearing.

http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc454/LRecca/colorandneckline.jpg

Finally, my niece will wear this dress in clover, the same color as the girls.

http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc454/LRecca/flowergirl.jpg

They all really liked the dresses and they are all ordered... We bought flip flops in the same clover color to wear on the beach.

Love the flip flops. They are actually my bridal shoes (in blue). I have rhinestones to add to make them sparkle.

So, as I stated earlier in my PJ, the old saying of "Something Old, Something New, Something borrowed, Something blue, and a silver sixpence in your shoe..." motivated me to buy a silver sixpence. I bought a 1927 one since it was the year my maternal grandparents got married and it is my grandmother's diamond that is set in my engagement ring. (This is what I have always wanted!!) Since I am getting married on CC and will be in flip flops, I had a jeweler drill a hold in the sixpence and put a loop on it. I made an ankle bracelet that I will wear on my left foot. I am not supersticious but if I am going to do part of the jingle...I am going to do it all. And, who couldn't use some wealth in their marriage? (That is what the sixpence is supposed to bring...

http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc454/LRecca/DSC_0030.jpg

I should not have taken the picture on one of my placemats. I am sure I will get better pictures when it is on my ankle at my wedding!!!:cheer2:

Spring Break is next week! Even though I live 15 minutes from WDW, we have decided to get away for a couple of days and are going to stay at Port Orleans Riverside (I still want to call it Dixie Landings LOL). While we are there, the photographer that is cruising with us will take some engagement pictures on property. It should be a fun day!!

We have shirts for the boys! My DF, his brother, both of our fathers, and my 2 nephews will wear these shirts. They are Tommy Bahama shirts and the color is called Continental. They are almost the exact color of my wedding gown.

Here you can see the palm tree detail.

They are all going to wear khaki pants (like a caramel color) with them and flip flops. My nephew that is my ring bearer is 5 and he will wear khaki shorts. I think they will all look handsome.

I have the second pair of shows you posted - Marley Silver I think they are called. I bought them to wear when I was a bridesmaid in a friend's wedding. Just a suggestion that you walk around wearing them some before your wedding day to stretch them out a little or get your feet used to them. I barely made it through the ceremony wearing mine because my big toe was being strangled. Don't want you to be in pain on your wedding day.

SO- It has been a long time since I have been on here. I have been so busy with school I haven't had much time to spend on here...

I did get my engagement pictures back and they are great. I want to post a few here for you to see. My photographer is a longtime friend of mine (and my family) so he will be going with us on the cruise. I am so happy- he is great!

We took these at Port Orleans Riverside...it is such a pretty place!

Yes, we are bringing our own photographer. Just make sure you tell your photographer what you want. Since they are coming with you, they should be open to what you want. I did read somewhere though while you are on Castaway Cay to say they are a friend of yours so they dont have to pay the $800 work permit. My photographer is a friend of mine but if he wasnt, he sure would be that day! LOL

Awesome pics!!!

I have been looking at the personalized wedding dress hangers on Etsy for some time now. Today on my way home from school I thought, I am just going to stop and get some wire and see how difficult it is. I stopped and got the wire for $2.99 and 5 hangers for $5.99. I came home and started playing and within 15 minutes was done. OK, I do realize that it could be better (but alot better than some I have seen!) and I didn't leave enough wire before the "M" that is why I wrapped it around the notches in the hanger (I had to add wire). I took it over to my Mom's house where my wedding dress is and it looks GREAT! I still have to put a ribbon around the top and a hidden Mickey and it will be done. I will post another picture when I do that. I am so glad I tried it myself...I am so impatient, I didn't want to wait 2-4 weeks! So funny AND I saved a bunch of money!!

I used 12 gauge florist wire. I bent it all with my hands but used the pliers with a napkin (so it didnt make a mark) to squeeze the "w" together. I used a pencil for the first circle on the "M" and the period after Mrs.

Great job! Your hanger is one of the best DIY projects I have seen on the Boards in a while. I think it looks wonderful! I bet more brides will try your project.

Here is a helpful hint for anyone that is wanting to try their hand at your project:
Go to www.dafont.com and download a font called "learning curve", "cursive" or any cursive style font that attaches the letters together. Open up a Word document and go to "page setup" and set the paper orientation to landscape. Next type the name you want to make like "Mrs. Sowers" or "Lisa and Jeff" using the "learning curve" font. You will want to use a font size of around 200...depending on the font and how long the names are. The name(s) may end up on two lines but that is okay. Next print on a sheet of paper and this will give you a basic template that you can follow to bend the wire.

THat is awesome! We originally wanted 11-11-11 but didnt want to get married in Nassau on the ship and didn't want to take the 4 night cruise because of everyone's work schedule. We have 55 people going which is way more than we thought would be able to go.

I had to do the 7 night cruise just to get that date on Castaway. I'm doing a PJ on Disney brides, not on this site. But I will admit I poke around here to get ideas. I love reading PJ's from Disney Cruise Brides! We are few and far between.

You didn't need the tip as you did a great job making your letters, but I thought it might help another person if they needed a little inspiration for how to make their letters.

I hope your school year is winding up on a high note! With the summer ahead maybe you will have time for more DIY projects for your wedding! I can't wait for you to post pictures of your "sowers" candy boxes and playing card boxes.

I just had a fun thought! Since your wire hanger turned out so great and was relatively inexpensive you could make them for your bridesmaids as one of their gifts with their names on them and they could hang their bridesmaid's dress on them. Or it would even make a great hostess gift for your wedding shower.

You know...I have no idea why we were allowed to check in so early. I am not sure if it is because of our Castaway Club status or what. None of my guests have been able to check in. My mom who booked the same day was blocked out until August 12 and I think her Castaway Club status is the same as mine. Maybe just luck! LOL

My mom who booked the same day was blocked out until August 12 and I think her Castaway Club status is the same as mine. Maybe just luck! LOL

Same thing happened to us, I was able to check in early. We're getting married on the Oct 8th Magic.

Shanda said it was because we are given VIP status as Concierge, but not staying in Concierge. So don't be surprised if you get special treatment on the cruise that your guests dont get.

Only glitch it threw for us was because I was able to make Palo early, I couldnt book the rest of the staterooms at the same sitting and by the time their ressies because available, the brunch was sold out. Going to see if I can add them when we board.

That makes sense about the checking in early...We are not doing dinner/brunch at Palo's. We only have a 3 night cruise and 60 people going so since it is our first time on the Dream, my DF and I would rather just do the normal rotation. We are taking a honeymoon cruise in March and will do Palos then. We will actually be on the Magic in March, 2012 going to the Western Caribbean for 6 nights. We are planning on doing the Palo Brunch.

Are you getting on the ship?

My gift bags are 90% complete. I just have some last minute things to throw in them...

I did 1 bag per stateroom so I have 20 bags. Luckily, I am in Orlando so I have family members assisting with bringing them to the terminal. I am waiting on a special order item to arrive...can't wait!

Dolly- I love my monogram. I ordered some stadium cups with lids for the gift bags as well. I cannot wait to post them on here with the other stuff in my gift bags...I have everything almost finished so I will be good to go! I have gotten so many compliments on the things you did for me. (I haven't shown too many people, I want there to be some surprises) I did use the monogram on my last newsletter though. :cheer2:

SO, I got a Chase Disney card back when we got engaged (a little over a year ago) and we have used it for everything and then just pay it off every month. I wanted to see if we could get any Disney Rewards to use on our honeymoon cruise on the Magic in 2012. Well, as of today we have 545 points which translates into $545 dollars to use on our honeymoon cruise.

The interest rate just went sky high on it but since we pay it off every month I don't care about that. I was just so surprised our points added up so quickly. It is like free money!! :yay:

We have that card too! We used most of the wedding stuff for it too and got like a 200 gift card! We are going to pull the points about a month out, so we should have about 250 as I still need to get our park hoppers and the dining plan :)

My interest rate went up to which I was very shocked! I have had the card 10 years and this is the first time...probably due to the economy but I figured after the wedding I will work on getting them to lower to it, if you ask they should as long as you have good credit...my other credit card did that plus they are only 9 percent, I want Chase to match it!

The bride's reservation gets priority check-in so you can book Palo and hair and all the fun stuff first. At least that's what the website said, because I was wondering the same thing. I can check in for mine (April 2012) in Dec, but everyone else has to wait.
Any details that any past or upcoming Castaway Cay brides can share would be greatly appreciated! I'm trying to piece it all together, but I'm a little overwhelmed. Does anyone know what they do for brides who bring their own photographer? How long do you have for photos before the reception? Sorry this got long, I'm just so excited!

I am bringing my own photographer. He is going to take pictures at the ceremony and then he will stay with us to ride the golf cart back to the ship with me and my new husband...that way, we can get some pictures along the way. I am not sure how long you have for pictures but I do know there are several people who have commented on getting to take pictures on the beach before they go back. I am sure if you have your own photographer you could go back to the beach for more pictures when you are finished with cake. I do not think they do anything differently for non-disney photographers. We will go back to the ship, do the cake thing, and then my guests will leave to go to CC and my photographer will take some more pictures of me and Geoff around the ship. The nice thing about having your own photographer is that you will have more than just the 2 hours or so of a photographer. Luckily mine is a friend of my family and he will be included in everything, the getting ready, dinners, etc. I will know way more towards the middle of November when I get back! LOL

Just wanted to let you know that you are allowed to use a personal photographer, we are doing that. I spoke with Shanda this week and said that your photographer should (if you and your photographer want to) have them involved when you meet with your onboard wedding coordinator. They can then go over the flow of the ceremony and what your photographer may be asking :) Just email Shanda and give her a heads up prior!

After lots of thought and continuous mind changing...I have finally decided on music for the Big Day!!

Prelude/Seating- A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes from Cinderella.

Processional- When You Wish Upon a Star (Was going to go traditional but I always think of church weddings when I hear the traditional wedding march)

Recessional- Was going to do Zip-a-dee-do-da but Geoff liked the Electrical Light Parade better, plus that brings back so many memories of when we both were younger and would visit Disney as kids.

First Dance- Can't Help Falling In Love- the Michael Buble version. We were going to do Everything by Michael Buble but Geoff said that song would make him fall apart. If he fell apart, then I would too. So, we will dance to that by ourselves in our cabin.

Father/Daughter, Mother/Son Dance- We are combining them and doing it together to Close to You by the Carpenters

Cake Cutting- I Do by Colbie Caillat (a song I found on iTunes and fell in love with...I have never heard of the song or the artist before stumbling across this...)

So, Music selections, CHECK!!

Dress fitting SO exciting! My dress fit perfect (helps that it is a corset lol) so all I need is to get it bustled...I have to wait for the shoes to come in as they are getting dyed so my bustle appt is for Sept 22!!!!

Yes, dress fitting was fun. I have to have it taken in a bit, I guess so I cannot breathe (LOL) and shortened. Alterations are a rip off but need to be done. It was $200 to take in the top of it and shorten it.

I am just wearing ivory flip flops with a flower on them and I am not dying my crinoline. I like when brides do that, I just did not want another thing to do (or mess up!)

Love all the updates!! It is really getting close for the 3 Lisa's!

I agree with you in the cost of alterations!! I went to have mine done and they wanted $400!! I told the girl that I didn't expect to buy another dress! My dress was $625. That means the alterations were more than half the cost...frustrating. I found a lady down the street from me and it is still costing me $273, for a bustle, hem and a bit taken in on the top. Glad I am not alone really it is a rip off!

Good luck with the rest of your planning. Look forward to hearing more :)

YES! I love that the 3 Lisas have been on here and we get married so closely together! We are all getting married within 15 days of each other.

My dress was only $499 and then $200 for the alterations. It is the hemming on mine that is so much. I have 3 layers that need to be hemmed. There is the liner layer, the outer layer and then the chiffon that goes over the top. What a racket! $400 seems very high!

My custom cups for the gift bags are in! :woohoo: The lady that did them also does the shirts for my school so she GAVE them to me as a wedding present! It was so incredibly nice of her!!

Anyway, they are 20 oz. stadium cups with lids and they have a hold in the top for a straw. The color green is a little brighter than my green but we wanted the top to match the logo (Dolly did that for me!). This way, everyone will have a bigger cup to get sodas and it is spill proof for the kids and adults that have had too much! LOL Here is a picture...

On every Disney cruise I have been on, I have seen people decorating their doors with fun stuff. I wanted to do something for my friends and family that they could use over again if they ever went on another cruise. After searching the boards for a while I found some awesome designs that designers have put up for free. The suggestion was to print items on magnetic inkjet sheets. I priced them and it would have been too much for me to do for 21 staterooms. I decided to use card stock and laminate it before attaching magnets on the back. WAY cheaper! This way I don't care if after the cruise my guests throw them away...I have a feeling there will be a lot of magnets on refrigerators after the cruise...

First, I did a set of Mickey ears for each stateroom door. Then I decided to do a cruise line name tag for each person in the room (they measure about 4"x2"). The came out great, or at least I think so. It did take a little bit of time to do them all. I cut them out of the card stock and then laminated them in my laminator that I have had since I was in a classroom teaching. I have used the magnetic tape a lot and I don't like how it rolls or bends so I bought a box of magnetic business cards (100 for $20.00). The adhesive on the back is very strong and they lay flat so for the mickey ears and name tags I just used a half of one on the back. They cut really easily with a pair of scissors. Here they are...

http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc454/LRecca/DSC_0524.jpg

I also did a few little things for my niece and nephew with Cinderella and Lightning McQueen. It became a little addicting. :lmao:

PixieDust1969

In addition to the name tags and Mickey ears, I also asked each of my families for their favorite animated Disney movie. For each door I made an 8.5 x 11 door sign that I just slipped into a magnetic sleeve (I got 50 for 25.00). I have 2 couples celebrating 20 year anniversaries so I put that on theirs but on most of them just thanked them for coming to the wedding. I will be able to use the extra sleeves I got at school...(they are great for putting the bus name on the side of the school bus so kids can find their bus.) I did not give my photographer the option of a movie because I found Mickey with a camera. :)

http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc454/LRecca/DSC_0523.jpg

This is just some of them. I think I have about 11 more to do. I just use a free disney clip art site and Microsoft Publisher. Since these slip into the sleeves, I don't have to laminate them.

The name tags, ears, and this will be included in their gift bags.

60 days until we leave!! :woohoo:

Wow you really have some great gifts for your guests.

Thanks!! I got lots of stuff at the dollar store. The only thing about the dollar store is you need to check expiration dates on everything because some stuff expires rather quickly. The silly bands were .25 one day that I was in CVS. I got enough Toy Story and Princess for all of the kids (and some adults) for almost nothing! Having a year to look and stock up, I was able to get some good stuff.

Another thing checked off of the "to do" list. It seems that now that I am under 2 months, I am on a mad dash to get everything finished. Instead of birdseed, rice, flower petals, or bubbles, we decided to do the ribbon wands. I think it will make for some good pictures and will be a little different. I got these last year and they come in white...we tied on the tangerine and clover ribbons to make them more of my own. I was going to put them in gift bags but thought everyone would forget them so now I need to find some kind of basket to put them in and assign someone to give them out down at the beach. I love the colors together.

I finished my wedding dress hanger, finally. I had made it a while back but just needed to put finishing touches on it. I added the ribbon and Mickey Heads on the ends of it. Total cost...$7.96 and I still have 4 hangers left, some wire, and a lot of ribbon. :thumbsup2 I had the stickers already from a while ago. Not too bad..

50 days from today we will be on the high seas! :yay: About now we will be heading down for our first night at dinner. I feel like I have so many little things to finish...this is my newsletter that is going inside of the gift bags. I have not printed it yet and probably will not do so until right before we leave. I am still waiting to find out stateroom numbers for two of my guests that were GTY. That means they booked but were not assigned a room.

I am not going to print it until I am absolutely sure I don't want to add any other information.

Thank you. I think my hanger came out pretty good. I wish I could tie a bow and have it even.

For the newsletter I used Pages (Mac). I am not very good with it and used a template that was already made. I am much better with Microsoft Publisher but I don't have that at home anymore since I got this computer. I just don't have time at school to do a newsletter. :sad2: You could do one easily on word, I think they have pre made templates too if I remember correctly.

Was there anything you think I need to add?

My shower is today! This is my family/friends shower. Both of my sisters were going to do my shower but one of my sisters moved to Texas so my sister, Donna is going to take care of it. I tried to help her but she was having no part of it and my mother and aunt and a few of my close friends stepped in...it should be fun...

As a thank you to my sister, I made her an apothecary jar filled with Sixlets in my wedding colors. For anyone doing a candy bar, they are $5.99 in Joanne's and they always have 40% off coupons. I think they end up a lot more economical than the individual colors of M&Ms.

My shower was yesterday and I have to say my sister (and some of my friends and family) did a wonderful job. I have a small control issue, I think this comes from running a school and always paying attention to details so it was very hard not to have my hand in all of the shower stuff. Donna, my sister, had lots of wonderful surprises for me and I think everyone had a great time. I won't bore everyone with lots of people and present pictures but I will post some...

These were the favors...she had a candle for everyone and a little box with kisses and chocolate mints inside.
http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc454/LRecca/DSC_0004.jpg

My cake had my wedding logo (Dolly designed for me) and was SO good. Publix makes the best cakes.
http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc454/LRecca/DSC_0006-1.jpg

There was ALOT of food. Some of my favorites...Dutch Meatballs, Texas Caviar, and corn salad...

This is my sister, Donna and me.
http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc454/LRecca/DSC_0021.jpg

I got SO many presents...it was ridiculous! http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc454/LRecca/DSC_0022.jpg

This picture makes me laugh every time I look at it. My friend from 8th grade who is a teacher, got me a new name plate for my office. Now, I NEVER in a million years would have thought of this...My nephew is sitting next to me looking in the box for a Cars car. He just knew someone was going to get me one! When I saw my name on that name plate, I almost cried because that is the first time this all seemed so real.

Shower pictures continued... Photobucket was giving me fits for some reason!

This is a beautiful box from my FMIL. She had also made a card that included a picture of me and Geoff on the day he introduced me to his family. It was awesome. http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc454/LRecca/DSC_0018.jpg

As I unwrapped gifts, one of my friends made me the traditional bow bouquet that people typically use for the rehearsal. Since I will not have a rehearsal, I am going to use it for the onboard ceremony they make you do before you set sail. Just one more thing to carry on board! LOL
http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc454/LRecca/DSC_0090.jpg

One of my favorite surprises came from my invitation...here is a picture of it...
http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc454/LRecca/DSC_0850.jpg

The pictures were taken the afternoon Geoff and I were at Castaway Cay the last time we were on a Disney cruise. The response card has a picture of a drink called the "Sunken Treasure." Neither one of us could ever remember what was in it. A friend of mine was able to track down the recipe and we had them at the shower...this one is mixed up so you don't get the same effect as the picture but it tasted DELICIOUS!! They renamed it Lisa's Love Potion!!

I decided to post the additional costs on here for others to see. A bride did this a while ago and that is what changed my mind on the Tiki Torches. When I found out it was over $500.00 for 4 tiki torches, I was done with that idea. LOL

Additional Guests @$20.00 each (59 total people, 10 included) 960.00
Hidden Mickey Crystals in my bouquet (3@$6.00 each) 18.00
Orange Rose Boutonniere (5 of them) 66.25
Orange Rose Wand (3 of them) 75.00
Ivory Rose Corsage (2 of them) 42.40
Sm. Bag Orange Rose Petals 17.50
Magnets for Boutonnieres and Corsages 44.52
Palm Frond and Shell Aisle Decor 159.00

Total 1,382.67

CC Wedding Package 3,500.00
3 Night Cruise 1,150.28

Grand Total So Far... $6,032.95

Not to bad so far...I just need to go through by box of receipts for everything else and add up all of the little extras I have purchased along the way, my dress, veil, etc. to get a total. I really didn't have a budget so I think I am doing pretty good and luckily for me, my mom and my aunt have taken care of most of it.

Here is a picture of my current project...I am making Hershey bars to put in all of the mailboxes of the teachers and staff members at my school. I have a great staff who have been helping count down the days and who have been showing their excitement for me. My Asst. Principal will put these in their boxes on Friday, the day before my CC wedding.

http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc454/LRecca/DSC_0048.jpg

I have about half of them finished so far. I thought it would be a fast little project until I did one of them and decided it looked terrible with the brown edges of the Hershey bar hanging out. (they aren't wrapped in silver anymore under the brown wrapper) Needless to say, I got out the aluminum foil and began wrapping them in foil and then putting the wrapper on. Now, it looked much better! I think they will be surprised to get something in their boxes from me while I am gone. I hope so, anyway!

I am a scrapbooker and I have ordered all of my pictures from Shutterfly. I have never really ordered anything but photos but I got a $20.00 gift card when I bought my wedding dress at Davids Bridal. I decided to make some thank you cards. I ordered 3x5 ones that I thought were cute. Then over the next month I started getting emails for free stuff. The first was a free 8x8 photo book, then it was for 10 free cards, 50 free prints, then another for 1 free card. The problem with the free stuff is that it usually is only good for a day or two. Luckily I had my engagement photos uploaded already so I threw an 8x8 book together and that is now going to be my guest book! You cannot beat free! (actually you do have to pay shipping but that was hardly anything)

Here are some pictures. (I think I like posting more when I have pictures of stuff, hopefully it makes it more interesting to read as well)

I definitely don't want to talk you out of going to MAC. Definitely go and have them do your eyes for you so you can see. I bought everything because I got caught up in the moment but you could get out a lot cheaper. The eye shadows were $11.50 each and I got 4 of them and I also got blush, powder, foundation, eye liner, and some paint pot thing. Then, I bought all of the brushes. I just love the way my eyes looked! I had no idea the brushes were $20 and $30 a piece! :scared1:

Thanks Dolly! My sister had real issues with the cake...she said it looked terrible and she made them redo it the morning of the shower. She had asked me for a copy of it but I had no idea it was going to be incorporated into my cake! It was a great surprise. I am getting close to my wedding day!! :)

It has been raining in Orlando for 2 days straight and is not supposed to stop until Monday some time. You would think I would get a lot done... :sad2:

My sister and FSIL went yesterday to get alterations done on their dresses. They will be ready November 2 which is 8 days before we sail. The lady that took the dresses make me extremely nervous since she didn't quite understand what we were doing (getting a halter put on a strapless dress) even though we brought my other sisters dress with us. We left her dress there as well to make sure they were all done the same way. So now, I am just saying a little prayer that none of the dresses get lost and they look somewhat the same when we pick them all up! :) She even tried to charge my sister and FSIL more that what my other sister paid. Thank goodness I had the receipt!

I really wanted to get a lot done today but that didn't happen. I can tell you that I did do one time consuming thing today...I made my Disney Bride shirt. It took me forever to hot fix each of the crystals to the shirt. I had made a pattern using the Disney font and a screw punch. The pattern worked perfectly but it was time consuming placing all of those crystals!! It is very sparkly though and that is what I wanted! I have a feeling there is going to be crystals on everything...it is addictive!

Here is my shirt...

Lisa, Goofy4ever, I SO should have just ordered it. Although, I only paid a little over $15.00 for my crystals last year and I still have a ton of them left. That is the only perk!

My suitcase is coming out today also to start putting wedding items in so I don't forget anything. Oh, and the Tylenol PM is coming out as well since for some reason I am not sleeping...I think I am so excited to marry the man of my dreams! Lord knows I kissed a lot of frogs waiting for my prince!

Bachelorette Party

Since I am not a huge Bachelorette fan, I was convinced by my sister to at least go and have a girls night out this past Saturday night. I am SO glad we did this...

We got to Ft. Wilderness at 11:00 on Saturday. We had arranged for an early check-in and were lucky enough that they had a room that was not booked the night before and was ready. We got checked in and got our stuff loaded into the room and waited for everyone to get there, well the other 4. :)

We spent some of the afternoon opening gag gifts, snacking and having some adult beverages. We had quite a few...we went out in the golf carts, we had two, and met lots of people and looked at the decorated campsites. LOTS of Halloween decorations. I love driving around and looking at people's creativity. Christmas time is awesome too!

We went and watched the fireworks on the beach. Gorgeous weather!! We went to bed around 2:30 and got up the next morning (all of us in pain:headache:) and went to breakfast at Trail's End. We were all packed up and ready to leave at 11:30. We were just a little late getting out of there. It was a great time!

Here are a few of the pictures I can post...:rotfl: (We made a pact, no pictures on Facebook!)

This is me on one of the golf carts, all decorated!

Some of our poison. We were drinking "Sunken Treasures" a drink from the DCL and one of my and Geoff's favorites.

Even with the cost of shipping, it is a good deal and I got some good stuff. (Thank you PrincessTinker11 for suggesting Vistaprint a while back):)

I got a free return address label stamp and a pen that I am not going to post. But I did get magnetic car signs and a banner.

Here they are...

I thought the banner would be a good room decoration for after the wedding and on our honeymoon. I love the car magnets. I got two of them, one for each side of the car.:yay:

This is a car magnet I ordered from Oriental Trading that I thought would be too flimsy to stay on the car but I may use it on the trunk or something.

TWO WEEKS!! You are so close! I am SO ready to get the show on the road. I have a lot to do but I am totally ready! Yeah, I have seen too many Bachelorette parties gone bad with some of the older brides so I played it safe. :rotfl: Plus, I didn't want some 20 something saying, "Look at that old lady dressed like a bride!" :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: And the recovery time isn't as quick as it was in my 20s. Hi Lisa,

I've just caught up with everything! You're so close to your big day :cheer2:

Everything still looks amazing, I'm really looking forward to seeing the photos of it all in action.

Love the marraige licence photos, that was really nice of the lady to do that.

Your shower looked amazing, you sis did a fantastic job, I love the little candles and the cake. :goodvibes

Your Hershey bars are cute, you photos of you when you were little at WDW are so nice, I love the one on Dumbo.

Your tshirt came out great, I wish I'd have done one of them but I'm hopeless with things like that.

Your bachelorette party looked fun, love the balloons on the golf carts. Glad you had a great time.

The next 3 weeks & 4 days will go by so fast! xx

My friend had her bachelorette party at Fort Wilderness a few years back. There were about 10 of us in a 1 bedroom cabin, but I have to say it was probably the best one I've ever been to!! We had so much fun, although we didn't get any golf carts (none available) and the bus ride to dinner was a little iffy after shots, but it was great! (we even had "chip and dale" dancers!!)

Congrats! You're so close! I can't wait to see how everything turns out!

I just read thru your whole PJ (I'll admit it, my mom's the DIS veteran- she e-mails me all the links of threads I should check out!) and I am SO excited for you!!! It's so cool to see how far you've come in this past year! I'm just hoping that since YOUR past year has flown by, that mine will too! We're sailing on 09/13/12 on the Dream! I love all of your favors (So jealous of everything Dolly helped you with- the logo is FANTASTIC!) and I look forward to DIY-ing everything for mine, and you've given me so many fantastic ideas! I can't wait to hear more from you! Best wishes! :hyper:

ccbride- Yes, we did have a really good time! I am sure you all had fun even without golf carts... We would have been iffy on a bus ride, too!! Chip and Dale dancers...LOL!! Thanks for reading!

JBeanBunny- Thank you so much for reading! I am glad your mom found me! I hope you will do a PJ so I can follow along with you. It is a lot of fun following people and you can take bits and pieces of all the things you like and make a wedding that is PERFECT for you!!

Today at school, my wonderful staff gave me a surprise shower! I had gone to a meeting this morning with my Assistant Principal and got back to school just in time for rainy day dismissal. Luckily, it wasn't pouring but just an annoying spitty rain. After dismissal was over, my tech guy called me into the media center (library) and told me there was some questionable information on one of our servers. I thought, Man! I don't need this today! :lmao:

When I walked into the media center, everyone on staff was sitting in there waiting for me to come in. I was completely surprised! :scared1: They immediately put a pink feather boa and a crown (made by someone on Etsy) on me and sat me in a rocking chair in the front of the room. Here is a picture of me with my crown and boa.
http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc454/LRecca/DSC_0053.jpg

There was a lot of food and a beautiful cake that was so fresh and yummy! http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc454/LRecca/DSC_0055.jpg

Near the end of the shower, they made me take a picture with the knight in shining armor. Now, our school mascot is not a knight. There was an art teacher at the school when it opened 20 years ago and he had it in his room. The kids loved it so when he retired he left it at the school. The staff that was there when he retired took it and put it in the media center. So, now he just stands there and gets decorated for each holiday! http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc454/LRecca/DSC_0254.jpg

I was completely overwhelmed with the amount of thought that went into all of the planning and execution of the shower without me knowing AND especially by the generosity of the staff. We got lots of gift cards to Bed, Bath and Beyond, Williams-Sonoma, Cheesecake Factory, and DISNEY! I have the best faculty and staff!! Geoff and I will have a great time shopping!

Here are my hair trial pictures. I am so lucky that I am friends with my stylist and her husband and that they are going on the cruise! She and I have been talking about her doing my hair for probably 15 years! She did my hair a couple of different ways and this was the one I loved! She also did it with the veil on top closer to my tiara but I didn't like that as much for a beach wedding. I definitely would have gone that route for a church wedding.
