FISH EXTENDER EXCHANGE SIGN UP:
Thanks to LuckyMomofTwo for taking care of the Fish Extender Exchange.
Send an Email to SSMemberCruise2011@Yahoo.com
Please list the following:
1. Your DISboard name.
2. Stateroom Number
3. Names, ages and gender of everyone in your stateroom that will be participating in the FE Exchange.
Once I receive your email, I will send out a list of participants. PLEASE check the list to make sure I have your information correct. Some people make personalized things with names on them and I'd hate to spell someone's name wrong and not know it. Or I'd really feel awful if I have your stateroom number wrong and you don't get any FE gifts at all! So, please double check my list when I send it. THANKS!!
This will only be my THIRD FE Exchange. There are always questions such as "Is there a price minimum or maximum?" "Do we give one gift for each stateroom or one gift per person in each stateroom?" "Do we give a gift each night or just one night?"
SO, my answer to all of you is this: It's entirely up to you. If you guys want to set some minimum/maximum amounts, per stateroom or per person gift, that's entirely up to all of you. I think everyone just does what they're comfortable with and everyone is always happy to receive gifts no matter how big or small! (Am I right?) Also, in my opinion, homemade gifts are the best!
One last note: IF we find out that there will NOT be FISHIES outside our stateroom door, I suppose we'll change the name of the "extender exchange" to whatever it is.
Participating in the Fish Extender Exchange is completely optional. Feel free to do or spend whatever you're comfortable with. As for the Fish Extender itself, some people buy them, others want to make theirs, whatever you choose is fine. The same rule applies to the "goodies"! You can buy or make them!
What is a fish extender exchange?
If you're not familiar with what a fish extender exchange is, check out these links:

DIS MEET
DIS Meet - Sailing Day:
Time and place to be determined at a later date.
The Elizabeth Swan & Pirate Game
On the 2008 Member cruise thread Gary (OKWMember) came up with the pirate game where each 100th post got a pirate (pirate:). To add more fun, each 99th post got an Elizabeth Swan (:bride:). This game was played in the 2009 Member Cruise thread and was so much fun. It really got people chatting. When will you get an :bride: or a pirate:?
Every 99th post = 1 ES (:bride:)
Every 499th post = 2 ES
Every 999th post = 3 ES
Every 100th post = 1 Pirate (pirate:)
Every 500th post = 2 Pirates
Every 1000th post = 3 Pirates
We'll have a prize for the DISer with the most pirates and the most swans at the onboard DIS meet.
PORT CAMERAS
Some people like to view the Disney ships leave port. As the time was getting closer to our sail away date last year, some posters in the '09 thread would log on every Sunday to watch the Disney Wonder sail away. So, if anyone is interested in watching the Wonder or Magic sail away, here are the port cameras:
Port Canaveral Webcam (http://www.portcanaveral.com/webcam.htm)
Two Palms Webcam (http://www.twopalms.com/)
Ron Jon Resort Webcam (http://www.ronjonresort.com/beachcam.aspx)

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Passports - do I need one?
Having a passport is ideal. However, a birth certificate with a valid photo ID will be permissible.
From DCL website:
Passport Information
Guests are responsible for obtaining proper documentation to board the ship. U.S. Government passport requirements continue to change; therefore, we strongly encourage Guests of all ages to have a valid U.S. passport for all cruises. Having a passport allows you to always be prepared to travel wherever you wish, and offers an added measure of security when you're traveling.
For air travel, however, the deadline was January 23, 2007. This means that all travelers, including U.S. Citizens and all foreign nationals, traveling to the United States by air, such as Guests flying to Orlando, Florida from Canada, are required to carry a valid passport after the effective date.
From Dept. of Homeland Security website (thanks eroinm (Michael)):
How will the final WHTI requirements affect passengers going on cruises?
U.S. citizens on closed-loop cruises (cruises that begin and end at the same port in the U.S.) will be able to enter or depart the country with proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate and government-issued photo ID. A U.S. citizen under the age of 16 will be able to present either an original or a copy of his or her birth certificate, a Consular Report of Birth Abroad issued by DOS, or a Certificate of Naturalization issued by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
Please be aware that you may still be required to present a passport when you dock at a foreign port, depending on the islands or countries that your cruise ship is visiting. Check with your cruiseline to ensure you have the appropriate documents for the stops you’ll be making on your cruise.
What have other members cruises been like?
The organizers (WDWLVR & MarkRG) of our 2009 members cruise thread developed a website specifically for the cruise. Now, I am not that talented. However, for reference I will list it here. It also has trip reports from 2003, 2005, 2006, & 2007 member cruises as well as tips for cruisers.
2009 Members Cruise website (http://monorailgreen.info/member2009/index.htm)
You may also view information about the 2010 cruise at:
http://www.hutsellhobbies.com/disney/dvcMember
When can I book excursions, reservations at Palo, and/or register the kids for the kids' clubs?
120 days before the sail date if you are a Platinum Castaway Club Member (sailed with DCL 10 or more times)
105 days before the sail date if you are a Gold Castaway Club Member (sailed with DCL 5 or more times)
90 days before the sail date if you are a Silver Castaway Club Member (sailed with DCL once before)
75 days before the sail date for everyone
When is Pirate Night?
Pirate night on most cruises are the Night of our visit to Castaway Cay, this past year it was on Monday Night.
If there is anything else anyone wants to post on here please let me know. More to come as pictures of the ship finally come out. I will add pictures from the ship sometime in late May as MouseFan64 and I will be sailing on the Dream on May 15th, 2011.

Glad it's not just me! Otherwise, I was thinking it might have been operator error ;)

It's been a while since I have updated my signature and I did not remember having problems in the past. Although it has been a long day. I should be doing work around the house right now but I am just too excited to think of anything but the cruise.

Hi! We're in stateroom 6650. Looking forward to getting to know those of you who weren't on the 2010 Member Cruise.
I do have one question, if anyone knows?! Are there going to be FISH outside of our stateroom doors? Or will we have to change the name of the "Fish Extender Exchange" to something else?!

Heck we have blown all budgets out the door, lets fly to Germany, sneek into the ship yard, onto the ship, then take a pic... do you think all of our Dis fans will bail us out of jail????

Sorry I just changed the instructions, if you right click on the picture then click copy. Then go to User CP, click on edit signature. Then put your cursor where you want the logo in your signature and then Right Click and click paste. This should work......Ok it works with Internet Explorer, can't speak for other browsers.
Please let me know if that worked for you.

Goodness, I wonder if this is what DVC paid to charter the ship? LOLOL!
Hi everyone! We are joining this cruise and so looking foward to it! It will be myself, and DH Crissup.
I will send along the info for the website. We will be on deck 8 as we secured a Category 8C this morning! Between the excitement of the Dream and the 20th DVC Anniversary, we are just thrilled to be sailing on this one.
Looking forward to meeting some old friends and lots of new ones too next year! :)

Oops. I goofed!
Asked for a room "port side" -- thinking we pulled INTO Castaway Cay and since we'd be there for 2 days, I'd enjoy some private time on our verandah, overlooking the island. Ahhhhhh ....
Guess I was wrong! DS10 says we BACK into the port at CC. He has a photographic memory, so I'm tempted to believe him! :lmao: I knew the dock was on the right side when you disembark, but thought we pulled in 'cuz I remember seeing Goofy painting on the Magic and thought I remembered seeing him from the ground at CC. So I asked for a room on the left side. I guess all these years, Goofy has been painting on the backside - and here, all this time, I thought it was the front!
Oh well. I'm just happy to be onboard. Still ... wishing I wasn't gonna be looking at the ocean. I told my DH they'll just have to ride the Banana Boat by so I can see 'em on the ground, from my perch!
Drats! Oh well, I'll know better next time.
Maybe the 20th Anniversary gifts will more than make up for it! :rotfl:

Since we make 2 stops at Castaway Cay, they will dock the boat differently each time (weather permitting & captains okay). This way both sides of the ship will get an island view.

Hi Everybody,
We just got confirmed too. My DH and I have sailed on one other member cruise with our kids back in 2005 but have done the Med in 2007 and just did the Northern Baltics this year. Carol Ann, I believe you and Crissup were on our Med cruise mid-July 2007.
We will be in a 5B Stateroom #8066. DH said hey, this is only our second time with a verandah on DCL. :cool1:
Thanks for all the great info that is already on page 1. Can't wait to change my signature logo. Will try and check back often on the disboards to get to know you all. We will probably do the fish extender exchange. We did it on the Baltic cruise and really enjoyed it.
Looking forward to getting to know you all. :grouphug:

We have looked at the 3 day before the Member cruise and are considering it. We thought it would be simpler to book this then go back to DCL and see if we could get the same Cabin on the 3 day before. We might do that instead of staying at WDW the three days afterwards sicne we have to be back in Indiana for a wedding that weekend after the cruise.

Hopefully we will pull forward one day and back in the other. But on the 2010 member cruise, we backed in both days. I like when the captain pulls in forward because it makes for a much nicer picture! And I hate to give you more bad news, but they don't have banana boats anymore. We rode the banana boat on our Jan 2007 cruise and LOVED it and shortly before our Dec 2008 cruise we found out they don't offer that excursion anymore.
Since we make 2 stops at Castaway Cay, they will dock the boat differently each time (weather permitting & captains okay). This way both sides of the ship will get an island view.
We were on the 2010 member cruise and had the calmest water I've ever seen and the captain backed in both times. I was so disappointed because I love getting our picture at CC with the front of the ship in the background.
I saw that! What a hoot!:rotfl2:

There were between 100 and 200 kids on the 2010 member cruise. I didn't see very many teens either. We were thinking of going on the three night cruise FOLLOWING the member cruise....maybe we'll change it to the three night cruise PRIOR to the member cruise. It took us about 5 1/2 hours to get the member cruise booked today. Last year it only took an hour. Somehow we got through first thing last year! Not so lucky this year!

Well, everyone I have GOT to get some work done around this house!! I'm sure I'll be back on later...I can't stay away from the DISboards too long I start to have withdrawals. LOL

Maybe they'll have the run of the club then. LOL Yes, it was brutal getting through this morning. I mentioned it in DVC thread, but they really need to have a lottery system set up for these cruises if they are only going to do the one per year. Having all those members trying to get through and getting more and more frustrated isn't going to make the members happy.

We're on, but I don't know many details yet- my parents booked it for them, my brother and SIL, and DH and me. All I know is that we have 3 verandah rooms next to each other because they didn't have any inside staterooms OR exterior porthole staterooms left when my parents got through!
ETA: Anyone know what the dinner attire will be each night? What's it normally like for 4 night cruises? I don't want to book Palo (or Remy) for the Pirates IN the Caribbean night like I did on my honeymoon!

OK I'll give it a whirl. Here is how I did it.
I right clicked the picture and saved it to my desktop.
Then I opened a new window/page and went to www.photobucket.com and uploaded the picture there.
Then I clicked on the "share" part of the picture in photobucket.
Then click on "get link code"
Copy the one that says IMG for bulletin boards and forums.
Go back to the Disboard page and click on User CP in the upper left hand corner.
Click on edit signature
Paste the IMG code and click on save signature.
I know this is the long way but it always works for me when I do it this way.

Ok, so we are counting up our own posts in this thread or ... ? I'm just a wee bit confused.

This is our fifth Disney Cruise, and third Members Cruise, first verandah room ever. Actually wanted to see the virtual portholes in action. We've had good luck on the waitlist, so for those not onboard yet, hang in there. For the 2010 Members Cruise, we didn't get in until a couple of months prior to sailing, probably at the 75 days out mark, before people started losing money to cancel.

He would have had it done last week, but he got the stomach flu. LOL They are doing calendar planning right now and I hear a big backpacking trip is in the works for this year! We're really blessed here in Oregon with sooooo many different types of outdoor activities available within just a few hours drive.
Oooh, a drink...did someone say rum :confused3
Mmmmmm! Rum! You're speaking my language!

We are very excited, we went on the member's cruise in 2008 and 2009. Looking forward to the Dream!
I'm going to go check out the 2010 thread, but for anyone who just went on the 2010 DVC cruise, who were the special guests, what was the theme and any extra special gift?
I would think that this being the first DVC on the Dream and DVC 20 yr anniversary, there will be some special things going on.
Little bit about us: My DH and I will be there with our DD (7) and DS (8) in cat 5, late dinner. I don't post too often but lurk from time to time. My kids would riot if we did not participate in fish extender gifts, so we will sign up.
Thanks!

We were not as fortunate in getting booked today. I called for 8 hours before finally getting through at 4pm. My CM was very nice and he felt terrible having to tell me that the cruise sold out during our conversation. Yes we were the first folks to be told the ship was full. He got us wait listed for all the catagories we wanted and did a great job in convincing us we would get a cabin from the wait list. We have been DVC/OKW members since February 1992 and we will be celebrating along with DVC. I hope we get booked early enough to be an active participant in this thread. I will add the member cruise logo to my signature with pride as soon as we get booked. Until then we will enjoy the thread while waiting to join you folks.:upsidedow

:wizard::wizard::wizard: I'm sure it will come through for you!
: I am also an Eagle Scout, but afraid I'm far too old for the teen club, not to mention any more back-packing or rock climbing. Maybe the water-coaster will suffice?
John
Welcome to the DisBoards!! It's nice to hear that Scouting will be so well represented on the cruise! I'm hoping DS(almost)16 will be Eagle by the time we cruise, but I know he's going to need some time to decompress from his year of SPL. He was one busy scout this past year!

Hi Cal! Oh boy, someone from Jersey! If you don't mind me asking, where in south jersey are you guys?

Hi....we live right outside Lewes, Delaware near Cape May/Lewes Ferry.

The Sunrise Coffee Club was just a group of us who were early risers who got together each morning at 6 am up on Deck 9, on the Wonder, right near the beverage station. We had some great conversations there and laughed alot! My DBFF and I made buttons that anyone who got up that early to join us got as a reward!! It was a great time and one that I will cherish always - I made some good friends on the ssmc09. I hope I can continue that tradition. But first I have to fine out where the beverage station is on the Dream!

I do have one question, if anyone knows?! Are there going to be FISH outside of our stateroom doors? Or will we have to change the name of the "Fish Extender Exchange" to something else?![/QUOTE
ooooh good questions, we are not sailing til May, to me that is to long.. who would know, wait til Jan and start asking on the general boards??? To me that is to long also.... Heck we have blown all budgets out the door, lets fly to Germany, sneek into the ship yard, onto the ship, then take a pic... do you think all of our Dis fans will bail us out of jail????
We will help post bail with what little we have left...do you know if Germany accepts DVC points as currency? :goofy:

After 3 hours and killing three phone batteries, we booked our spot on the DVC Member Cruise 2011. We joined the boards tonight to get to know everyone.
We will be bunking in cabin 6088.
We are interested in the fish extenders and already thinking about ideas. If any veterans remember a few years ago, my Mom (Pauline M.) helped organize the extender activity and she loved it.
Time can't pass quickly enough!

Even though Gary did not go on the 2009 member cruise, he was the pirate master for the 2009 SSMC. So, Terrie, if you want me to do it then let me know. I know how much fun you had earning the :bride:. Someone will just need to get the prize.

No kids here, but DH and I are ALSO very excited about the aquaduck and have watched the video multiple times :lmao: tell your DS we share his enthusiasm...it does look way cool :thumbsup2

Does anyone know if there is a age/weight limit for the aquaduck? I'm slightly older than a teen but it looks awesome!

We will be joining you all for this adventure!!! Soooo excited!!!!
We were one of the lucky first few to get a spot. Started calling at 8am on the nose with the house phone and 2 cell phones. My DH got through after 3 tries on his cell phone to a live person and the rest was history! We were booked by about 8:20am! Thank God! I was so nervous!!! Even with that we got a category 8B on deck 9 and she was like they just put you in 9660 because they are going fast.
This is our first member cruise!! Can't wait!! Time to start the diet or I'll be the first one to get stuck in the aquaduck :lmao: :)

Thanks Shawn!
Ok a show of hands, who couldn't sleep last night ME holding my hand high! Oh I am so glad today is over.:headache:
Good luck to all who are wait listed.:cheer2:
You weren't alone. All three of us got just about three hours of sleep last night and all woke up excited between 5am and 6:30 this morning excited and chomping at the bit to call.
Now that we're booked...I can't fall asleep because I'm too excited and busy reading these boards. I'm going to the Bills game later on today, and is going to be rough (on a couple of levels). :headache:
