Blondie, we were married in 1988.
Did you really wear the same dress, Disney Talker? When I was busy with planning, there was a gown in Bride's Magazine that I fell in LOVE with! I had it pinned to my wall I liked it so much. When I took one of my girlfriends to the bridal shop with me, I went through the racks of dresses and chose about six. When we went in the dressing room, they had my picture on the wall! I told the lady...that's the one I want!! She looked through the six I had chosen and it was in there! That was the only one I had my friend try on. Sold! :teeth:

I love seeing wedding photos!!
We had an *Official" Wedding picture thread that got lost in time. Check out this link:
LOTS OF DIS'ERS WEDDING PIXS!!! (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33336&perpage=15&highlight=Official%20wedding&pagenumber=1)
Some of the links no longer are valid but most of the photos are still there!! My own wedding photos are on page 5 of that thread. And I still hold the record of posting the *oldest* wedding photos - 26 years next Tuesday - September 3rd.
Let's get more wedding pictures posted - this thread, that thread - no matter. JUST POST THEM!!!

John Cusack...that's the first I've heard that one. I had to pull up pictures of him. :teeth: I see a slight resemblence. Keith's dad has a picture of him from YEARS ago in a white leather jacket with studs down the sleeves. In that picture he looks exactly like Elvis Presley! :) I wish I could get my hands on a copy of that picture. We have an ice cream "parlour" here which is decorated in a 50's theme. When I took DS in there, he looked at a picture of Elvis on the wall and said...what's daddy doing up there? LOL! :p

Anyone here buy the first wedding dress they tried on?
I brought in an issue of Bride Magazine that had on the front cover the dress I absolutely had to have! They didn't have that particular designer, but had one similar done by a different designer.
I tried it on and that was it!
Hopefully I'll get an e-mail soon of some scanned photos from my mom and brother so I'll be able to post them here sometime this afternoon!

Thank you very much for the help Dan Murphy and to the others who also volunteered their help! :) My mother made the dress and veil. and she and my father sewed on over 1000 sequins and seed pearls. Oh - And I tried on TONS of dresses. I would love something about one dress and something else about another dress and something else about all the dresses until I tried on this one after about six stores and unknown number of dresses. Once I tried this dress on, I loved everything about it. It was if it was made just for me and the search then stopped. Mom was so relieved (she thought I would be like my other two sisters who each bought practically the first gowns they tried on).

I don't look very good in this one. I was really sick that day because I came down witht he flu the day before...but I was really happy :)
And for those of you who tried on tons of dresses. I actually had to buy TWO! The first one I bought was so pretty and I was lucky enough to get it on sale. After I had it for a couple of weeks I decided it just wasn't me. Luckily I bought my vail at another store. I knew I shouldn't have done it, but I started looking at the sales wrack with the wedding dresses on it. And right in the middle of all those dresses was "MY" dress. It was what I'd been looking for but didn't know it. And it was on sale for only $99!!! Not only that, it cost me less to get altered. The total price for my second dress and the alterations cost me less than it would have to have my first dress altered because it was so fancy. I was much happier in my second dress and that's what I ended up wearing :)

And here are my bridesmaids and DH's nephew. Their dresses actually weren't as dark as they look on here. Their dresses were all the same color and by the same designer, but I let them pick their own style since they were all different shapes. :)
http://www.wdwinfo.com/sites/scuttle/wedding.jpg
For my dress, I bought the third one I tried on. I think my mom was a bit disappointed that I didn't want to play dress up for longer. LOL! My dress was very plain...the bottom didn't have anything on it. The top had boning in it and was beaded a bit w/ pearls and a few sparklie things.

It was the first dress I tried on. I did try on a few more (4, I think) to make all of us (me, Mom and the lady at the bridal salon) feel better that I knew for sure what I wanted. But it was! I LOVE my dress!

Great pictures of your parents and aunts, Maggie! Hmmm...1977. That was the year I graduated high school. I'm still stunned that it was 25 years ago. There's no way I could be out of high school THAT long! :earseek: :earseek: :earseek: :earseek: :earseek:

Everyone's wedding pictures were beautiful!!!
I have a wedding picture but I have not figured out how to use my scanner:(
Tullirose-I was also married on September 3rd
Skuttle-I also had my bridesmaids pick their own dress as well- It had to be black ,sleeveless and to the floor. I got so many compliments on them.

I'm so glad to see that a wedding photos thread is still around because I can finally post some pictures. These were taken on July 16, 1983 on an incredibly humid day and we were all wilting fast. I designed and made my dress out of satin and swiss dot. Also made my bridesmaids and my mom's dress. I was very busy sewing right up until my wedding. I decided to have a large swiss dot bow with flowers tucked in it instead of a veil and the train looped up in the back like a bustle, for dancing. My sister (back left ) is a florist and brought all the loose flowers to make the bouquets, with her from BC, where she lives.

Oh Yippie!!! TimNDansMom ressurrected the Wedding Picture Thread and with some absolutely gorgeous photos, I must say. You not only sewed your gown but designed it too!?!?! Stunning. And the bridesmaid dresses are lovely also.
Some photos are missing from this thread now and I notice the link I placed in my very first post on this thread to the older wedding photo thread no longer functions. I guess that is one of the posts that had to be sacrificed. No matter, we just need to get people to REPOST their photos and get MORE people to post too! :D

are very nice. I have Zero wedding pictures, we eloped and didn't have a camera. Which was probably a good thing, me in a mini skirt and tube top and DH in peach jeans and a gauze shirt.
I swear it must have been the drugs.....................
If DH was even the slightest bit romantic, we could renew our vows at WDW and I could get a real wedding gown, and my 4 sisters could be my attendants and DS could be the best man, and all the BILs could be groomsmen, BUT DH is not even a teeny bit into that!

DH and I were married on October 7, 2000. It snowed that day (little flakes) and the heat didn't work in the church! The weekends before and after were both 70!
Because the heat didn't work I was very cold!

Pin Wizard-We were married in Iowa where I grew up. Red is my favorite color which is why I had red roses and bridesmaid dresses. We have some really funny moments on video of the wedding party getting pictures taken outside in the cold. Makes me laugh every time I see it. The girls are shivering and the guys have 3 layers on!
Here are a couple more of my favorite pictures.
This is my favorite of "the Guys." The ringbearer (my cousin) was too cute!

Dont have scanner, so can't post my photos.....
But, we got married 10/29/1994 at the ripe old age of 22 (DH) and 23 (ME!) and we had just turned those ages weeks before.
Got engaged early Jan 94 and within days I had my dress. It was on cover of a bride mag and thought I would never be able to afford it. Worcester had a Wedding Expo that month and had a dress sale at a local hotel....went in with my Cousin (maid of honor), the first dress I saw was the one I wanted from the magazine...ONLY dress I tried on and bought it that instant for $495!!!
So, to answer earlier question...I wore the first and only dress I tried on and loved it!!!!!!

I finally got a few of my pictures online to share. We were married October 7, 2000 (both of us were 23). We had the same crazy weather that Jenn Lynn did and boy were we thrilled to go to WDW the next morning (we left snow flakes behind)
The first is the back of my dress. My cousin had made it for me. The lace came in from Puerto Rico (thanks to my family) and the entire dress was made out of this lace. My cousin also made the veil for me as well.

Neat Poohbear! :) Got you beat...I was 29 and DH was 34 when we married. You guys were Spring chickens. ;) I pretty much had the same thing happen with my girls' gowns. It was in Bride's Magazine and I fell in love with it. When I picked out gowns for my friend to try on, the picture was on the dressing room wall. I told the lady...that's the gown I want! She looked through the 5 or 6 I chose for DF to try on, and she told me it was in there! :) That's what we ended up with. Here it is...

How beautiful, Helenabear! :teeth: Such a beautiful gown and headpiece. You and your sister could be twins! You and Jenn Lynn were married the same day...what a coincidence! :) I remember at our reception and trying to get through the ladies room. It seemed to strange to see other brides in there! LOL! That's okay...it was still MY special day.

My sister and I have been told that we could be twins many times. The photographer loved that shot because of our contrasting eyes (my light green and her dark brown)
Yep, Jenn Lynn and I shared a wedding day together. I even recall sharing some of what we planned with her here on the DIS before the big day. It was kind of neat to be able to share that :)

That's such a shame! You would think they would carry an extra camera in case of emergencies. That's so disappointing.
