So as of 11-15-10, We are having an Animal Kingdom Wedding! There are a few things we're still waiting to "set in stone" , but it's definitely a go! We ended up switching consultants, which has been fantastic, Stacey is amazing!

----------------

So since we officially went to the consultation, I'm going to start a planning thread!
We've been together for over 2 1/2 years, and have been engaged for almost a year. We're just now starting planning, and have our hearts set on a Disney wedding!

We initially wanted to get married on the beach, rent a couple of beach houses for everyone and all that, but then life happened and it just fell to the wayside. So then we figured we could get married on the Beach in Disney World, but found out that they aren't doing that anymore. So we looked around Epcot a bit, and fell in love with Italy! ----

Congrats on starting your wedding planning. Italy would be a great location for a wedding. I did hear they were not doing beach weddings any longer which is unfortunate.

THanks!
So I'm a nut and didn't take pictures of anything. WHAT??? I know. I honestly do not know what I was thinking. But thank goodness I have google, I found these 2 pics online-

Where the ceremony will take place-

http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff122/sparkii_01/wedding/EpcotItalyceremony.jpg

and the other side with the recent-ish Pizza place
http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff122/sparkii_01/wedding/napoli-front2.jpg

We'll stand up on that circle thing and do our thing, probably with a violinist or guitarist, then cross the street and have a nice brunch on the island, here

http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff122/sparkii_01/wedding/EpcotItalyBrunch.jpg.

I'm DIYing our invites, they are going to look like Passports, along with a list of other stuff I'll get to in other posts LOL.

We're also hoping to keep this as close to the 10k (or 12k) minimum as possible, so far with just the basics we're at 6-8k so thats ok. I'm planning on flying in a family friend to do our photography, but that might change as the date gets closer.

Thats all for my ramblings for now!

Ok well I should start adding some more stuff here. I've been obsessing over this, up through all hours googling and lurking LOL. My colors are Orange and Blue, Like this
http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff122/sparkii_01/wedding/colors.jpg

We aren't changing the table cloth or covering the chairs I don't think, but I do want to do the centerpieces if they'll let me, using something similar to this
http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff122/sparkii_01/wedding/Mickeymouselantern.jpg
but its black and open topped (the newer version) filled with Daisys or Sunflowers that are individually watered so everyone can take one after brunch.

I've got so many ideas for favors, but I love this for packaging

http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff122/sparkii_01/wedding/favorpackaging4.jpg

and of course I have to show my ring! FI picked it out 100% on his own, I didn't even know he was ring shopping :)
http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff122/sparkii_01/wedding/DSC_0027-2.jpg

And thats all for today! Woohoo!

I'm still waiting on "officially" setting the date, btw. Kristi Davis and I seem to be playing a bit of phone tag, that or she just hasn't returned my calls this week and now shes on vacay for a week. Doesn't she know how impatient Dis brides are????
So I've been looking over the prices, and have been getting a little overwhelmed. I mean, the dessert party for 30 people, she guesstimated at 2k. The show is only 15 minutes! 2k for 15 minutes??? Doesn't that seem a bit nuts? Am I missing something maybe?
Then the ceremony itself, we're very laid back people and only want something short and sweet, so maybe 15 minutes at most? There's another $2500 for 15 minutes.... Even the brunch will probably end up around 3k for an hour and a half. Plus the stupid bus we have to get for 5 hours even though we will only need it for 30 minutes max (and even then, I'd rather my guests could take the Monorail), and add a musician dude since iPods are a no-go in Epcot... I'm having a hard time even looking at a dress because of COURSE the only ones I love are about 1k, and I'll only get to wear it for and hour and 45 minutes since you can't wear your dress in the park :(
I'm just feeling a little bummed I guess, because at minimum we're going to total out at 15k, and that is a TON of money to spend on a total of 4 hours... Not to mention that since its a park (even though its the morning and the park is closed) we can't have Mickey or Minnie or anyone visit, I totally fell in love with Italy after we found out that they don't do beach weddings at GF anymore, but I'm having a hard time validating it... My FI is all for it, he's such a Prince LOL.

Let me start by saying I love your colors and your ring in gorgeous! I also love that mickey lamp. I want one for my home. As for having a hard time justifying things I can totally relate. Right after DF and I became engaged and I started pricing everything at Disney I become very disappointed because the numbers I was coming up with were over my budget. However as time has gone by DF and I have tried to look at what's the most important things for us and focused on that. As of now we have a place reserved for the DP in Epcot but we are thinking if we get the whitehall room and patio we might just watch the fireworks from there and save some money. I'm not sure if I missed it our not but where are you having your reception? Because depending on that you'd get to keep your dress on for longer. You could have your ceremony in Italy but your reception could be elsewhere. Just an idea. My rationalization for my dress was I will wear it twice. Once on my wedding day and than DF and I are planning on doing a MK and Epcot portrait 2 days after our wedding. So I'll wear it again. :rotfl: Decisions Decisions. Whatever you decide just focus on what's important. If we all had money to splurge we'd go nuts..(I know I would), but most of us are on a budget. I'm not sure if you listen to the inside disney weddings podcast. This last one was really good. It was all about how to save money on your wedding. HTH :goodvibes

A friend or family member can, vendors can't :( I'd rather have my friends and family enjoy my wedding, but I guess its not in the cards. Sucks because I haven't seen anything I like from the Disney photographers :sad1: Photography to me is a personal as a dress is, so its really frustrating that they only allow their own. It's kinda like them saying "oh you can only wear one of these 3 dresses"

LOL my numbers are pretty high and they don't even include the "really wants" like Mickey, the Cinderella coach, the MK photoshoot...lol I'm sure you understand! I think the reception in Italy isn't any more expensive than anywhere else, and this way we don't have to use the bus again (so basically we have to pay $600 for 30 minutes of use of the charter bus... There's gotta be another option...)That's a good idea about moving the desert party, at this point I'm not 100% sure we're going to even have it, I loved the idea at first but when I saw it last week, it was neat, but I'm not sure it's worth the whole dessert party thing. I think we just wanted to make a whole day of Epcot, except now I'm wondering if we should change it up and do the morning in Epcot then the evening in MK, just because there isn't a ton to do in Epcot. The thing is, to me whats important is just getting married, I think my FI is more into the whole wedding bash thing than I am.
I'm also a little down about it because my family is like "Disney World??? I don't think we'll be able to make it" and I haven't even told them the date! Talk about your party poopers...

My love for Disney has been revived :D Not that it ever left, I guess I should say my love for my Disney wedding has been revived :D:hippie: I went to Michaels today, ahhhhh. I could spend HOURS in Michaels. It's right up there with Barnes and Nobles, actually. Martha Stewart has a GREAT PR guy, or whoever the person is who designs the packaging. I just want to buy it all. Do I have a need for it? Uh, no. What the heck am I going to do with 6000 different hole punches? But they look so scrumptious! Not to mention I never go without a 40% off coupon, which means I HAVE to buy something, right? It would be a shame not to... I did good though today, crazy sales, I spent 5$ and ended up with some thick foam stuff for the Mickey/Epcot stamp I'm going to make, (any graphic designers here?), paper to do another test run of my Passport invites, a single flower for my nearly 3 year old (where did the time go?), and more paper for the mickey and castle confetti I'm going to make :D
Can you believe Michaels didn't have any Hurricane lanterns? Crazy. Dang I knew I needed ribbon for something! Add Ribbon Wands to my list of things to DIY :D

Now I have a color question. We love blue and orange (not orange like pumpkin orange, more like a yellow tangerine orange) partly because they are my FI's college colors (eyeyiyi that's what you get when you marry a Frat president I guess) and partly because while I love pink and orange, I'm not a pink person. But now that it's all in Italy, I'm wondering if we should change it? Blue and orange don't seem to really go with it all... But I'm not a red person either, so I don't want to be completely in warm colors...But I'm also not wanting to go all ultra christmas-y or wintery either... But maybe like a darker Blue and white with orange accents? What do you think?

(Sorry I'm a bit rambly, I had a Chai Tea Latte,oops!)

So for an update, I think we're doing some restructuring. I'm really not happy with the way the Italy wedding was going, or how stiff Disney is with their wedding rules :( We are looking into a Swan and Dolphin wedding though, and that might give us the Disney and personality we want without the $$ or too many concessions on our part. So, as of now, the new plan is a Beach ceremony at the S&D, with some decor :) Then for our "reception", we're going to bus/taxi/limo it (not sure of the means of transportation yet) to the Polynesian, and enjoy the Spirit of Aloha show and dinner, and then off to Sago Cay(?) for the dessert party, to be visited by a couple surprise characters :) This would put our total (minus attire, rings and room, none of which are included in the minimum expends anyway) under 8k, and including everything we want so I'm very excited about that! There are several things up in the air and stuff, but it's the latest anyway :D

Good luck with the S & D planning!!
As I have said countless times on these boards, I have, so far been so impressed with the way JustMarry have handled everything for me. Although my VR is only small (16 in total), I have always felt like the most important client Karen has!!! She has always been very quick to answer all my enquiries, advise on vendors and help with my planning. There has been no waiting around for responses from her (which I think is sometimes an issue with DFTW in their busy periods). As you pointed out, there are very few restrictions and rules and I feel I am having the VR I really want for a fraction of the price. It is, however, still right there in WDW, my absolute favourite place in the whole world!!!
Good luck whatever you decide!!

Here is the link to my PJ - it used to be in my siggie but seems to have disappeared (just put that right)

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2513856

I think that I am getting a good deal and don't feel I am missing out on anything (the only things a S & D bride can't have are cindy's carriage and a MK portrait session - neither of which I want anyway). This way I can have exactly what I want with much more choice than going through DFTW and I am paying around half the price!!!
Just as a heads up I don't think characters are allowed at DPs but they are certainly allowed at the cake/champagne reception at the Swan - if you are having one!!
If you have any questions, I will be glad to help!!

Characters really aren't allowed at DP's? Even if its at a resort and not park? For some reason I thought I've seen them there...
I don't think we're having a Cake/Champagne reception, although its certainly something to think about, esp if that's the only way we can get characters! I feel like I need them to solidify the disney thing, I was bummed that you can't have them at Epcot so it would be a good fix to that issue.
There is definitely a lot to think about...Off to read your PJ!

I am pretty sure about the characters at the DP thing, but I have been wrong in the past!! Maybe somebody like Carrie can answer your question. It might be worth posting it as a question on the main board.
I hope that you can have them at your DP as this would be great!!

Well, a couple updates today. One, I think we're moving our date up to 10-1ish-2011, to take advantage of the Dining Plan deals :) I also discovered Disney photographer Regina, she took pictures of a Canada wedding (along with Joe) and they are great! Which is so exctiting for me, because I'm kinda really picky so now Italy is back on the table. Except $$ wise, the beach is still more us, I think... Maybe I can just get married twice :D (to the same guy, of course :D)

tinkerbell 766

LOL I know! I don't understand that, at all.I've never heard of a photographer that does business that way, I understand that they might get sick or something, I guess thats the only way you wouldn't get that photographer? I wonder how that works? What actually decides if they do or not?

We really want a beach wedding, but if we do that route we want to eat at the Spirit of Aloha luau at the Polynesian, but it looks like we can't make reservations (for a party of 40!) until 6 months prior which makes me REALLY nervous. Anyway, I'm still on the line, I really don't like committing that kind of money without a guarantee that I'll get the photographer I want.

tinkerbell 766
10-22-2010, 02:20 PM
I don't think that it is just sickness which might prevent you getting your requested photographer. Apart from sickness and vacations, the DPS photographers do other things apart from weddings, and if your chosen photographer is commited to another event or another wedding, you get assigned somebody else!!

Well, not really. Italy will be expensive because its a Wishes wedding, so for the wedding alone a minimum of 12k (the 10k min + taxes) and that doesn't include attire or hair or any of that stuff, you know? Or even the photography, which is an easy 3-5k. So just a round estimate of 20k. With the beach option, it would come to about 6k for the same stuff the Wishes have except more personalized, and then add the photographer, attire and stuff would bring the total to around 14k max. Thats more what we're comfortable with paying for, really (Can you tell I'm talking myself through it still LOL). Basically $350 a guest instead of $500 a guest. Which still seems expensive, LOL, but oh well.
I LOVE the look of Italy, and I think it would be a dream if Disney was less rigid in certain aspects (Ok, mainly photography LOL). Maybe we could do a Vow renewal there someday?

Completely OffTopic, but I'm watching The Office, and it's stinkin' HILARIOUS...

It really is a tough decision I know. I started off switching to the S&D because of the cost of a DFTW, but can honestly say I don't regret the switch at all up to now. I have had far more choices about things and my planner (Karen) has been an angel!!

So I don't know where I left off LOL, but now we're looking into doing a Disney wedding at the Belvedere Ruins and the reception at the Tamu Tamu Courtyard, or having just the reception at Tamu Tamu with the Dessert party down the Discovery river. Or *maybe* the Everest party, with the ride and everything. Man that would be awesome. I'm not too worried about the wedding and reception outshining us, we'd both rather have the attention on someone else rather than us anyway LOL.

So here are pics of the new place(From the website), I would still use the lanterns if they let us for centerpieces :D

Oh wow those pics are soo beautiful. I love that idea. You're shoes are sooo cool looking! I haven't seen anything like that before. You're sure to be comfy on your wedding day. You can dance the night away. :lmao:

You're such a good sport :D You're probably like, this crazy chick needs to make up her mind :rotfl: I LOVE those shoes, I have a different style and color already, they are super comfy :D and this is a weird me thing, but I have long narrow feet and they make them look not so goofy LOL.

No updates on anything yet, but soon I hope! Gotta get stuff moving if its next October! My dorky FI scored a bunch of those stick things (totally lost the name of it LOL) from work like a year ago, and I saw them in his car yesterday so I'm going to make some ribbon wands soon :D

I found my Dress I found my Dress!!!! We went into the Davids Bridal today hoping to score something at the $99 sale that started yesterday, only to find out that someone came and bought 90% of them to send to China? So that was a bummer. I tried a bunch on anyway, and went back and forth between 2 that I really liked. I mostly decided on one, I really like it but it had a fold thing on the neckline that I really wasn't fond of, but didn't hate it enough to be a deal breaker and figured really liked it anyway. Anyway, we decided to sleep on it, and while we were walking out the door saw one close to the one I tried on, but without the fold thing! They only had 3, but one was my size, my FMIL talked me into trying it one, and BAM, I knew. It's a lot of dress, and pretty cheesily "princess", but I found that I didn't care, it's the dress I have to wear whether its at the courthouse or on the beach or whereever!
Here is is, my FMIL took pics on her phone, I'll add those later when I get them :D
http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff122/sparkii_01/wedding/TheDress2.jpg
And one I made of the whole party-
http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff122/sparkii_01/wedding/BridalParty.jpg

How do I go about seeing if my bridesmaids and MOH like this dress? What do you think of it? I tried to pic something that would be cool enough, but is also forgiving for different size bodies?

Oh, and I have a brag :D I was a solid size 6 when I went dress shopping last time, and then in september I ran 3-4 times a week, and did Wii Fit about 10-30 minutes a day 5 days a week, and now I'm a size 4! (Oh, and my dream dress? I don't need a single alteration! woohoo!) I didn't lose any weight, but I had some baby belly I had procrastinated in getting rid of. So that was exciting for me :)

It was a lot of working out, running mostly. I bought these shoes, Vibram 5fingers, and they are amazing to run in! I can't run otherwise, I literally cramp up after like, 2 minutes. I really like Wii Fit as well, lots of Yoga-ing.

Beautiful Dress!! I think it looks so pretty on you!!:goodvibes

So it's a little late, but I want to tell you about the story behind the love of Belle. First, she's my fav Princess. She's smart, gorgeous, doen'st fall for the idiot, and knows herself.
When my daughter was really young, she HATED the car. So we gave in and got a DVD player for our own piece of mind, and Beauty and the Beast has been in ever since :D My 3 year old can sing most of the songs, walks around with my hardback books saying "But there's no Pictures!" and singing the song with the book. My FI and I have heard it so many times that we actually use the lines in our day to day lives LOL. Whenever we get upset at each other, one generally uses the line "well you should've stayed out of the West Wing!" and then the reply and tension breaking "Well you should learn to control your temper!" and so on. We both are very passionate (read:stubborn haha) people, and we compliment each other just as Belle and the Beast do. We both grew up with Disney, and while they are just cartoons, B&tB is our favorite :D So when I tried on the dress, my FMIL just about fell over, all the girls who worked there were wow'd (kept saying how it looked like the dress was made for me, which they probably say to everyone, but it was still nice!) and I just felt amazing in it! :lovestruc It seemed meant to be :)

hi Belle! Congratulations on picking your reception locations! Italy is a lovely spot for receptions, ceremonies and parties. It's one of my favorite viewing spots for the fireworks as well. :) I think your ring is just gorgeous, your fiancee did a fantastic job picking that out. The heart is so unique!
Those lanterns are so cute too, I saw them on our last trip and seriously contemplated picking up a few for us but I didn't. I like the favour packages too, they remind of those little flower things from martha stewart. So cute.

I actually love the pictures you posted from AK, I've seen parties done there before and it definitely has an elegant feel. Those lights in the trees and over the walkways just make it sparkle, it's so pretty.

Here's a couple projects I've been working on today, a candy scoop and button boutonnieres!
The candy scoop I saw on Etsy, and thought it was cute and easy to do so I tried it :D I might do something similar to the cake and serving set-

He he I can identify with this. My children (aged 23, 20 and 10) still quote 'Mary Poppins' at me regularly. I have a habit of saying 'What's all this', for example, if somebody has left the bathroom in a mess or clothes on the floor, and they always come back with 'step in time'. It looses a little in the translation, but if you are familiar with 'Mary Poppins' you will understand!!

Alright! Well the date is reserved, we had a few hiccups but nothing too bad!

Is it lame that I don't want to say the details about our wedding because I"m worried someone will do it first or take our date LOL?

Well as long as you are past the 16 month mark another bride can't take your date/locations unless you fail to send the LOA back in time.

I know exactly how you feel!! I wouldn't post about our wedding plans until we had secured our locations cause I was so afraid that it would jinx us!! :rotfl:

Yes that's exactly it! Our plans have changed soooo many times, and I think we've finally got it set but we haven't sent in the deposit or done our LOA yet. We have a "tenative hold" on the date, and have gotten a guess-timate on the cost of it all.

Alright! I'm doing it! Here it goes, the FINAL plan!!!

We all meet at Animal Kingdom, and the guests take a ride on the Safari!
From there, everyone walks to Tamu Tamu(or possibly Flame Tree Garden) for a pre-Ceremony reception with cheese platters and such, to wait for the park to get cleared out! My FMIL is gifting us with an Animal Encounter at that point as well!

The ceremony will be at Expedition Everest, Base camp!

I'm so excited :D
Following the ceremony, we'll all walk back to Tamu Tamu for a 3 hour reception, :D

And thats it!
Now there are some budget issues, so we wont be having a few things, centerpieces are likely out, as is real floral (which is fine by us). We're just going to have a friend or family member use my DSLR and get some pics, since for the 3-4 k it would cost for their photographer I could get a couple amazing lenses and external flash. We are also having a couple characters :D and the menu looks sooo yummy!
We had to move the date a few times, and now since we're waiting to find out if the dining plan is going to happen next fiscal year, we might move it again! But its ok. I'm not stressing about it LOL!

So what do you think?

Sounds very cool I'm sure your guests will love it! Is there a seperate charge for your ceremony location? I've only ever seen pricing for it as a reception location.

I've only ever seen it as a reception as well, I'm pretty sure it's the first time it's been done! There is a separate charge :D

Just read all of your PJ and I love the AK wedding! So unique and the pictures look like it's going to be gorgeous! Very cool that the guests get to go on the safari and everything!

I love the AA Disney gowns! Jealous that you got to try all of them on. I already found my dress, so my mom forbade me from trying on any others lol!

Can't wait to see the rest of your plans :)

I linked her to the dress on Alfred Angelo, and she did the rest! Took her about 2 days!

What nice photos. The shots in Central Park are so pretty. I love Central Park and walk there pretty often on my lunch break. What a cute idea to have shots taken at Magnolias. Hope you had a cupcake or two (or in my case five). Looking forward to seeing how your wedding turns out since I have not seen a wedding at those AK locations yet.

Great plans so far and your dress is beautiful! I'm not a huge fan of the disney dresses but I have always loved the way the belle one looked. Your AK wedding/reception looks like a beautiful location too. Can't wait to hear more!
