Hello All!

I've been reading these since we decided to have a wedding at Disney in January! But now that I have been switching pretty much everything, I thought I could make a planning journal to not only watch the progress for myself, but get suggestions from you guys!

A little about us-- My name is Avery, I'm 25 and live in Winnipeg, MB. My DF's name is Andy (obviously by the title of the thread ha-ha), he's 25 and lives in Grand Forks, ND. So not only are we planning a big dream wedding, we are also dealing with immigration which is more stressful than the wedding!! My dad married a woman who is American and Andy is my stepbrother's best friend! He introduced us about 3 years ago and we started dating about 2 years ago.

Here we are at a jazz festival!

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l528/PrincessAvery/Wedding/america067.jpg

Me, Andy and my brother...very serious, as you can tell :)

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l528/PrincessAvery/Wedding/untitled.jpg

There was no real big proposal. I knew I wanted to marry him very shortly after we started dating and I would always joke around saying "Baby, let's get married" and he would make some silly joke. Well one night, his answer was "yes, yes we should" and it proceeded from there. It was just perfect, on the couch at his place, very low key and beautiful. And the best Sunday night ever! With the best rock ever...can't quite find a picture that does it justice so here's the picture from the Kay website...

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l528/PrincessAvery/Wedding/990597700_MV_LG.jpg

So with the fiancée visa that I am coming down to the states with, we were required to have our wedding there. So we started looking at different places we could do it, never ever imagining that Disney would be an option! But once we started really pricing things out, it made sense to spend the extra money and have our dream wedding! The cutest thing about Andy is he's this big scruffy man and yet you go to his house and he has every Disney movie ever made. So it wasn't too hard to come to the decision! :yay:

We originally booked the wedding for January 29th, 2011. We had a planner, locations, custom menu, everything. And then, we scrapped it all! We decided for financial reasons to push the wedding back a bit to March 26, 2011. Thankfully, we had one shot to postpone the wedding and Disney has been so good about it! Kristi, my coordinator, laughed at me that I had such a good time planning the first one, I had to do it a second time. It's kinda true though. I had booked everything and then found this site and the passporter's book and was extremely frustrated because I felt that my money could be maximized so much more and so here we go again........

Before I start I have to say I love that woman. I wish she was my planner! She has been so incredible this entire time I have been working with her! I have sent pages of questions multiple occasions and shes always so quick to get back to me and never makes me feel like I am getting to obsessive! :)

So she just notified me that our locations have been secured and we don't have to do a new contract just an ammendment! So we are booked for a 12pm ceremony at Sea Breeze Point and the cocktail hour and reception at St. James and Marvin Gardens!!

Good luck!

That's the thing about doing research - I'm finding more things that I want and finding ways to get it! :lmao:

Can't wait to read along - you're getting married a little over a month after us :)

So here's what I do know about the wedding...

-I must have the carriage. There was no fight on that one, if I was doing Disney I was going to be Cinderella. Yes it is insanely overpriced but it will be the ultimate defining moment that I will remember forever. I know theres alot of things I want but am willing to cut but this was one of those things I knew I would regret not having. So ponies it is. :)

-We are doing a Mad Hatter theme. My bridemaid's dresses are blue, hot pink and tangerine. So pretty sure that will continue throughout. My invites are pink water bottles with a custom label which is the cutest thing ever!!

Obviously not my girls but here's the dresses from the website!

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l528/PrincessAvery/Wedding/jadey.jpg

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l528/PrincessAvery/Wedding/becky.jpg

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l528/PrincessAvery/Wedding/amanda.jpg
-I have my dress!

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l528/PrincessAvery/Wedding/america013.jpg

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l528/PrincessAvery/Wedding/america012.jpg

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l528/PrincessAvery/Wedding/america015.jpg

Other than that, I am pretty much up in the air right now. I had a custom menu designed but it was $86/pp and for lunch I think its pretty extreme (no i am not naive enough to think everything won't be extreme through Disney). So I as I said starting from scratch. Andy wasn't very involved the first time around but he's getting there now and now won't seem to budge from the DP. Being from Canada we thought it would be fun to do it in the Canada pavillion but that doesn't seem to be an option which is kinda disappointing!

Is it wrong that I would take a MK photo session over a fancy lunch reception?? I was running the idea by Andy last night that maybe we could do the Chip and Dale rehearsal dinner menu and the photo shoot instead of a nice meal. He looked at me like I was crazy and then told me didn't think that was such a great idea....and called me Princess-zilla. Food is food, MK photo shoot is FOREVER! :) I have to see if we can fit it in there somewhere!

On a side note I have confirmed Oscar Chavez as my photographer. I had booked him back when the wedding was in January and just found out that he's available on our new date! I know that I could have chosen a photographer who's done Disney a million times or gone right through Disney. But Oscar has never done a wedding there, and was SO excited that I was even giving him the opportunity. So he made me a custom package I couldn't refuse! I am pumped that I get to keep him!! Plus its a husband wife team and she is so sweet as well and from what I have seen of his portfolio, he's going to do a great job!

We originally had Alice and the Mad Hatter characters booked for the reception but at $1350 for 30 minutes, I think we might skip it. I came across a great idea in the passporter book of having a caricaturist. DF LOVES that idea and I think it would make a great favor for our guests but I haven't really seen many reviews about that on here. Any advice?!?

And I've rambled again. :)

Thanks!! Doing it all over is pretty stressful but to me, because of us living in different countries, the wedding planning is so much fun because it means the long distance thing is almost over!! :) And I get to take everything I liked, build again and make it even better!

I don't think it's crazy at all. To be honest, I've never had great wedding food anyway, no matter the price paid!

This is all happening so quickly now! Just heard back from Darcy at Pearl Beach Paperies. She had done my original invite and thankfully we didn't order them the first go round but she is now working on changing the date and locations and I should have my proof really soon! The first one was so amazing so I can't wait to finally get it in my hands!! She's also going to be doing all our table names and place cards as well as menus...and maybe programs but we'll see about that. Can't decide if it's necessary or not!

I'm also looking at videography for the ceremony. But $450 seems really steep and not really fitting into my budget anywhere. Andy thinks it would be completely appropriate to skip it, it's not something we are going to be watching all the time anyway and the guy I was talking to wasn't even sure he would be there to get the ponies as he was "extremely booked" that day. Blah. Maybe if I can find a better price.

SO I turned 25 yesterday!!!! Oh my goodness did I get spoiled! We are paying for the wedding ourselves but I managed for make almost a grand in birthday present money yesterday! My family is MUCH more generous this year but I'm not complaining!! We just moved into a new apartment, well actually DF moved in and I don't get to go down permanently until December. But his dad sent me a gift card so I can go buy yet more stuff for the new place. DF used to live in what can only be described as a bachelor pad. A small, white walled, no food but lots of beer kind of place. So I have taken over the decoration on the new one. Its 3 times the size of the old one and I have already painted every single room. It looks like a home and I cannot wait until December, 85 more days until the driving is done!!

So DF and I figured out our room block last night. We are going to have POP, All-Star Movies and Port Orleans! When it came down to it we realized even if anyone can afford to stay at any of the deluxe resorts, and trust me its high season rates are insane anyways, that they would rather be closer to all the family and so we are really happy with our choices. We have decided to use our comp night at AK but we are going to use it the last day of our trip. I read that on someone's PJ I just thought that was so smart. So we will probably spend a week at POP and a week at Port Orleans and then leave in style at the AK.

I've been bombarded with details in my head the last couple days. So originally I had the little teapots with Gerber daisies as my centerpieces. The really nice thing about those is that you get to take all the tea pots home so we were thinking that they could be our thank you gifts to our parents. HOWEVER, I've decided they aren't quite what I think I want. I think I want either spyder mums, which I have pretty much fallen in love with or do something really off the wall like a silver platter with different sized vases filled with color water with "Drink Me" tags on them. Once I get assigned a florist we'll have to see how big the difference is in price and what they would look like. I told Kristi yesterday I want to do whatever is going to be most obvious and memorable for our guests and cut anywhere they aren't going to notice to maximize our budget. Pretty sure most other brides work that way on a budget too but sometimes I think they forget I'm on one! Anyway there isn't much I can do now! I have to wait for the amendment for the contract and Kristi is gone until next Wednesday so my poor mind gets to just wander away from me for a couple days! Poor man that has to deal with the details queen! :)

And me and my dad having our first dance at the party...such a suck that daddy of mine :)

And we've also had our social. Anyone not from Manitoba has no idea what a social is so I'll explain alittle. Its basically a fundraiser for your wedding. Its held a community center and you collect silent auction prizes. Its $10 a door and drinks are $2.75. Everything you make, you keep. We made about $5000 for the wedding. Everyone goes to everyone else's and sometimes you go to random ones just because drinks are so cheap! Its the absolute greatest idea ever! Here are some of my favorite shots of the night....

Hi just joining your PJ. I can imagine it's stressful planning it all again but at least you'll get to choose and do what you want and have no regrets because you didn't know about something. Gotta love the passporters book and these boards. I love your colors and your wedding dress as well. It looks great on you! As for the MK photo shoot I say go ahead. Years from now people won't remember what they ate or how it tasted but you'll have that once in a lifetime experience captured on film. How many brides out there..other than us Disney brides...really have the opportunity to take pics in the Happiest Place on Earth on our Happiest Day. For me that is definitely a must..regardless if I have to cut corners on something else.

Thank you! I love my dress! I figured doing a Mad Hatter reception required a dress a little out of the ordinary. I love Davids Bridal. I had such a great experience there! I tried on so many dresses, and Gina my associate just kept getting more. She was actually the one who found this dress, I didn't even know it existed!

I agree with the MK photo shoot. Right now we are going between a DP and that so we'll see. Andy being the wonderful man he is wants to make sure our guests are happy and taken care of but me....its my wedding day, its about making me happy!! :rotfl:

It's a label that we will be wrapping around hot pink vitamin water bottles! And we have a sticker for the lid that says "Drink Me".

I could not be happier with them! :yay::yay:

Thank you guys! So the only problem before I can tell Darcy to print is Andy thinks it says Mad natter's. It's just the way the font is, the h is actually capitalized. Now its all I can see. So I need to see if there is another font we can use or if anyone will actually notice. Maybe its just us because we want everything to be perfect?!?!

But I do see what you mean by, "natter". Could you try just making a different H instead of changing the whole font?

Love the planning (again) journal!

I am feeling a touch frustrated today. 2 Fridays ago I sent my "Final request for information" and room block to Kristi. I've been waiting and waiting, which is not something I normally have to do with Kristi. So then today I sent a quick "what the hell email" (LOVE those) and she got back to me within 20 minutes saying she didn't think I had sent one of the forms to her!! I'VE BEEN WAITING 2 WEEKS TO HEAR FROM HER, WHY DIDN'T SHE ASK ME!!!! See this is why I believe that sometimes you have to stay on top of people to make sure stuff gets done. I may be a touch of a control freak . So anyways I forwarded her the email from September 30 and she responded super quick saying she will request the agreement tomorrow and I should have it next week. Thank goodness for what the hell emails I guess!! :rotfl:

So I looked at our budget from the first go-round and managed to take about $4000 off it. I was so impressed with myself, we actually have to spend more money to hit the minimum. But I did strip it down to the bare bones so there certainly things I want to add. I was telling Andy he's lucky we have the carriage or we would have to spend SO much more just to get it to the minimum and so that is now my new reason to justify my ponies :rotfl2:

I've decided I do not want to focus on anything a normal wedding focuses on( And by normal I mean a at home wedding, not a DFTW, because honestly none of them can do wrong) So I want to look into non-floral centerpieces that aren't so pricey, looking at different menu options (we are having a custom $86/pp menu, is anyone really going to remember the food 20 years from now?), doing a BOC bar and focus on things like a desert party, characturist, possibly characters and maybe a MK portrait shoot and really make this wedding hit the senses without worrying too much about the things that most people won't remember. So now realizing I won't have a planner until about 5 months out, I'm going to throw myself into research so I can pretty much nail down what I want before I even have my meeting.

Oh and a very fun quick story. I mentioned before that the first time around Andy was very anti-planning when it came to the wedding. He now has tons of opinions. SO theres a Grand Wedding Showcase going on here the last 4 days of the month. He said "great babe so you go and then show me what you find and I'll let you know what I think" and I said "Oh no baby, you want to be Mr. Opinionated, you will be joining me at the shows and doing your own research". His face dropped at the idea of spending 10 hours of his weekend wedding planning and then realized..."Sure thing babe, I'd love to do that with you" :cheer2: Should be quite the weekend!!

Just found you PJ so far and I am loving your plans! I love Alice in Wonderland so I'm very excited to see how everything turns out. Your invitations are awesome!!! I can't wait to hear more about you plans. P.S. The social idea sounds brilliant... why don't they do that around here!:confused3

So Kristi just called and the carriage isn't available for my wedding!!!!!! Oh. My. God. It is the ONLY reason I got sold on having a Disney wedding. And now my options are change the date or don't have the ponies. I called Andy almost in tears saying I couldn't have the ponies and that was not a good enough option for him. He told me to do whatever I had to make sure I get everything I want. So we decided to look in Sunday, March 27th. It doesn't apparently change our minimums at all but I know my Grandma won't be happy with the idea of a Sunday wedding. I managed to get ahold of Darcy in time as our invites were suposed to be printed today and thankfully she hadn't started them yet. Now on pins and needles waiting for Kristi to call me back and confirm. My wedding is only 5 months away and now there's more changes. AHHHHH!!!

I just found your PJ and I love your plans so far! You're getting married the day before us! I may have to stalk your wedding :rolleyes1 (feel free to stalk mine as well) Good luck with the rest of your planning!

Princess85
10-27-2010, 11:11 AM
I'm going to be a married lady in 5 months and 1 hour from now!!! And that means I move in 2 months today! I've been so busy making sure all our immigration stuff is in order, we have to go to Vancouver in 2 weeks for my fiancee visa interview! But thats not exciting wedding stuff and there's been alot going on in that front so I'll save the immigration talk! :)

So after having my freak out about our LOA and having to change the date, again, I can finally say March 27,2011 12pm. With ponies. If 3rd time isn't a charm for date changes I give up! So we got our agreement sent over on Monday and found out thankfully we don't need to put another $2,000 deposit down!! I've also decided since we have our invites, which thankfully hadn't been printed yet when we found out about the carriage, that we are going to skip sending out the save the dates again. Kristi is sending us about 5 with the updated information just for our safe keeping. I'm feeling that with at least 2 months off after the wedding, I'm going to create the world's greatest scrapbook so everything I can get for keepsakes the better!!

On another front, because of the immigration craziness, we decided to hire an officiant. The laws are just confusing about who can and cannot preform a ceremony and I can't risk the licence not being legal because I can't be in the country if it isn't!! So I sent Andy a link for the 4 I had narrowed it down to and I think we are leaning towards Rev. Jack Day. He just looks like the sweetest man and having the southern accent will be a nice nod to Andy's family. And I really like that we can pretty much write our own thing and he's good with it. I've been so hellbent on making this whole thing customized that its exhausting!! Nevermind trying to find 60 songs I want on a ipod for the reception. Goodness sakes.

So hopefully we will have our planner assigned to us very shortly, I'm freaking out because its only 5 months away and we don't have one!!! But I did print out another copy of the planning kit and have already started filling it out again just to make sure I'm ready as soon as we find out who it is!! And then it dawned on me the list of things I have to do in 5 months. Its a very very good thing immigration won't let me work for 3 months, I'm going to need it to make sure I get to make it everything I want!!!

FutureMrs.B
10-27-2010, 05:12 PM
Well I'm glad to hear that everything is working out for you and especially that you were able to get your ponies. I hope that you'll hear from your planner soon and that everything with immigration goes smoothly. :shamrock:pixiedust:

Princess85

Immigration is crazy!!! I'm moving 2 hours south...only 1 of which is in the US. It shouldn't be so difficult!! But thank you for motivation!!

On another note, I figured as my present today I'd order some shoes. I am really hoping they are going to fit ( I have a size 11..gross I know) but I really hoping to be able to wear them for the wedding....

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l528/PrincessAvery/B001CUFMKU_01__SS1500_SCRMZZZZZZ_-2.jpg

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l528/PrincessAvery/B001CUFMKU_01_LEFT__SS1500_SCRMZZZZZZ_.jpg

I feel like because they were such a steal, they're not going to be any good! But I chose overnight shipping so I will know really soon if I can rock them or not!! I need hot pink pumps. If anyone is in love with pink, its me and I really want to incorporate it somehow! And I will be switching to just married flip flops for the reception, or at least part of it!! :rotfl2:

FutureMrs.B
10-27-2010, 09:43 PM
Luv the shoes. I am a pink lady myself. I recently got my pink shoes as well. I really hope they fit and are comfy for at least a few hours. And I am right along with you as soon as we get to the reception bye my precious pink pumps hello comfy flip flops! :lmao:

Princess85
10-29-2010, 07:55 AM
I just have this idea in my head that I want the pink pumps for pretty much like 2 pictures. I just think they would pop so good on the dress. Expecially after being on here and seeing other girls get exactly what I want!! :)

So I am very excited because its the weekend of the Grand Wedding Showcase!! It takes place at 4 different hotels over 4 days and pretty much brings every vendor in thats any good. So Andy and I are going to lie and not tell anyone we're getting married at Disney and see what they come up with when we say "whimsical and mad hatter". I know its kinda sorta wrong but I need to see some ideas in real life and not just on the computer!! I will try and take lots of pics for inspiration! And in case anyone's wondering Andy is just so thrilled. I'm pretty sure if there wasn't free food and booze this wouldn't be happening!!! :rotfl:

Princess85
11-01-2010, 02:47 PM
So I got a call on Friday from Diane, she called to let me know that she will again be my planner so it makes the transition fairly easy! However I did warn her that everything is different now!! So I narrowed my menus down to 5...yes it seems insane but I can't make up my mind and I am hoping price will be the deciding factor because they all sound so good!!!

Menu #1
Salad w/ 3 dressings
Canadian cheddar cheese soup
Parm crusted chicken
2 pepper rubbed beef with sweet onion sauce (carving station)
Mashed potatoes with prociutto and cheddar cheese
Pasta station with tomato basil and alfredo sauce

Menu #5

sauteed chicken with roasted garlic thyme demi
deep fried garlic infused turkey breast
tri-color tortellini tossed with juliene chicken breast with pesto sauce

So we'll see what she comes back with. On a side note, the shoes fit however they are 4 inches high so walking will be a challenge!!!:rotfl:

Just joining in - I too had to have pink shoes - I found a pair very similar to yours, and was SO glad I chose them...

I love all of your plans so far - the bridesmaids dresses are amazing, and love all the bright colors...and the mad hatter theme is fantastic.

I had a caricature artist at my wedding in September and it was one of the highlights of the day - guests are still taking about how cool it was, and they all walked away with an amazing and unique favor...

If you are still under the minimum, consider adding the MK shoot - it was such a great experience, just the experience alone is worth it if you are Disney Fans! Plus the pictures are stunning...you really can't go wrong!

Thank you! The pink shoes are awesome but like I said very high. I'm thinking I only want them for pictures anyways so I'll just switch over to flip flops for the reception. I really just want a picture of me sitting with the dress flowing everywhere and these hot pink shoes, I see it in my head perfectly!!:rotfl:

Saturday night we had been at the Grand Wedding Showcase all day (which was super fun) and decided to narrow down our first dance song. So I danced in the shoes!! Only problem is they pretty much put me and Andy's height and he wasn't too fond of that. But we danced to about 5 different versions of "Nothing Else Matters" and I'm pretty sure we picked the one we're going to dance to!! I don't know why but he won't budge on the song (I tried "Thank you for loving me" by Bon Jovi "Dance with me" by Johnny Reid "Shameless" by Garth Brooks etc. etc. etc.) So Metallica it is, its far more suited to us anyways.

I'm super pumped about the characturist! I think its going to be alot of fun and this way I don't have to worry about favors! I was working on our ceremony script last night! I sent it over to Andy to read but I have a feeling he's gonna think its too long/too mushy, so we'll see what he says!!

I love your ideas so far! I am interested to see what you hear back about menu prices because it is similar to what I am looking to plan for my September wedding. Could you PM me the process you got for the options you listed?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE your shoe choice! I will be donning shoes very similar to those and cannot wait!

Will keep checking back to see how your planning is going! Interested to see how it all unfolds....now to start my own PJ!

But we were having a really hard time deciding so I send Diane one more...

peppercorn beef with sweet onion sauce (carving station)
tri-colored tortellini pasta station (tomato basil or pesto sauce)
grilled veggies
roasted potatoes with dill
assorted rolls and butter

Its really just a mix of all five so we'll see what she comes back with. Its really easy to have them price out a menu, just tell your planner what you want and they will take the menu to the chef of the venue and they will price it out. It only took Diane 2 days to get back to me! We also had our planning session but I will write more about that later!!!

So its been 4 days since our planning session and I gotta say I still feel so disappointed by it because we had to do it over the phone. I've been following the boards pretty much religiously and I am finding I am feeling really bad for myself that I didn't get to go down and see it all in person. Yes, we discussed the same things and yes, I have just as many options but that would be so much fun!!!! It just doesn't seem fair to me, I'm spoiled I know. But with having to go to the west coast for the fiancee visa, there was no money left for a trip down to FL.

It was a very productive meeting though and I'm having a hard time believing the wedding is a little over 4 months away. I'm still waiting for Diane to get back to me about that last menu so hopefully once I do we'll get a budget rather quickly. She said that's all she needs so the faster the better I say!! I'm so excited I only have 26 more days of work and then I am finally moving down to the states and then I can really throw myself into planning the little details. Or spend all day looking at everyone else's weddings!!!:rotfl2:

The menus all sound yummy, and actually I think are all very reasonably priced for what you are getting! I understand feeling sad about not getting to go down to Disney to do the PS, but in the end I think you will be happy you saved the money! You are getting really close.. only 4 months!

So I am extremely frustrated today! I have been waiting for my BEO for 2 weeks and I FIANLLY got it today, after I was told I was going to have it at the beginning of last week and its all wrong. I have 25 people coming to the wedding, it says 30. I had a very specific menu, as you can see from my craziness on here about it, it was all wrong. I had requested beer and wine only, there was liquor. It was just like "Who's wedding is this because its not mine!!!"

I know that over the next 4 months there's going to be alot of BEO's and alot of revisions, but I need to make my first payment at the end of the month and I don't even know what I am budgeting for right now. I just wish there was some sort of idea because the way this looks the whole thing's gotta change. I supose I created this Bridezilla in me and I have to deal with her. :rotfl:

On a very good side note, its my bridal shower this weekend! My dad bought $200 of room nights off the registry for me and claimed it was from my stepmom, that daddy he's so sweet! He also tried to buy the ears but I couldn't find the grooms one on the website to save my life! We're going to have to get that all sorted out! ALSO, I move in 27 days. This means I have 14 work days left for the next 6 months and then its really time to have some fun with this. I didn't think I was going to be able to hit my budget with the small amount of time left so my dad said a couple days ago "You've been busting your a$$ saving money for the wedding so whatever you can't save, give me a number and I will take care of it" Thank goodness. I would have been choked if at the end of all this I actually had to pay for the whole thing all alone. I gotta at least have someone buy my ponies for me right?!?!

I'm so sorry to hear that your BEO is all wrong! I can't imagine what's up with that? Did you call your planner to ask what happened?

Hope you relax and enjoy your bridal shower. And how nice of your dad to be so willing to help you take care of things. :goodvibes

Hey sugar, just joining in. Everything looks great! No worries, I am a fellow size 11 shoe gal, the pink shoes are gorgeous! I have a couple a pairs from the same brand, mostly mary janes, some are comfy and the others I had to get rid of, so I am keeping my fingers crossed for you that those are comfy!:cutie:

I  that you are using Metallica too, we are actually having the strings play Nothing Else Matters at the ceremony and it is something I won't budge on. I know it will be wonderful as a first dance too!! :dance3:

I am subscribing to your thread, can't wait to read more!!popcorn::

I sent an email to Diane with all the changes but I have yet to hear anything back. I supose that doesn't really surpise me though. Hopefully it will sometime in the next week....:rotfl:

I've now started going back and forth on the logistics of the day, mostly surrounding "Nothing Else Matters" as weird as that sounds! We have the guitarist for the ceremony and for the cocktail hour and then we were going to switch over to the Ipod (which is something that wasn't even listed of BEO after we talked about it....) but I really think that it would sound better with the guitarist so I am thinking I am going to make the cocktail hour a half hour so he will still be there to play our first dance. Or I might walk down the aisle to it. Andy said we should just make the whole reception revolve around Metallica, but not too sure everyone would appriciate that!! But my sweet old grandparents are going to sit and talk about this beauitiful song on guitar and have NO idea who it is!! I'm going to make myself crazy if I keep this up!! :cool1:

So I am happy to report that I got my new BEO and its all starting to look alot better with everything updated. I think I am at the point where it's exactly what the dollar amount needs to be and I don't think there's anything else I can cut. I am hoping to find some money land mysteriously in my bank account so I can at least have....hmmm you know I think I might actually be good where it is!! :cool1:

I was going over again and again last night with Andy about my damn obsession with those stupid ponies and how its taking $2700 away from actually treating our guests and I'm spoiling myself blah blah blah...(it happens everytime I look at the budget and see it written down :rotfl:), so anyways once again my sweet man refuses to actually let me start thinking about getting rid of it because he knows I would be so heartbroken!! Its the only reason we're getting married at Disney and he'll be damned if I am not a princess at our wedding! I love him whole bunches!! I'm not one to spoil myself and I am always worrying about everyone else so it's kinda hard to grasp the idea sometimes that this is all for me. Yes Andy is very excited to be marrying me but honestly he'd be happy going to a courthouse if it meant I would be walking out as Mrs. This whole big hoopla is to make my dreams come true and I gotta say it kinda makes me feel guilty. Shouldn't I be ok too with just going to Vegas or a courthouse....all that matters is that I am marrying him right?!? Nope I want the ponies, and the tiara, and the fireworks. I blame my parents for all the bedtime stories involving princesses!! :)

I also got my proposal from Elizabeth over in floral and started looking at some great options for centerpieces.I wanted at first to do the teapots but then surprise surprise I changed my mind. I want really tall ones now. I've decided little teapots are not grand enough for my wedding or something. The amount I change my mind is staggering. So anyways she suggested tree branches with tea cups hanging from them, and I gotta say I love that idea. We were thinking about doing 3 different centerpieces so each table will have something different. I can't decide if I want uniform or to just go with the theme of Wonderland and make everything all wonky because I also think I want to get some bright colored ostrich feathers in there too. Not through Disney though because they start at something stupid like $180 per centerpiece. So not happening expecially since I found a company that sells the whole centerpiece for $40. And if i only need one I can find a way to make that work. But the question is do tree branches and ostrich feathers work together?!? Probably not but I think thats the point. I will post pictures when I get home from work and get some opinions. I also contacted a couple outside florists just to see what they would quote compared to Disney!! Sorry for the long post its been way too long since I've posted when all I do is think about the wedding!!:rolleyes1

Glad I did’s, Glad I didn’t, Wishes I had….

Glad I did:

-Had a DFTW. We had decided we didn’t want to do a local wedding but before really starting to research, never in a million years did I think I could afford to actually be married there. I felt it was reserved for the rich. The more research I did, the more I realized it was possible and eventually convinced Andy we should have our wedding at Disney World. It was the single best decision I have made other than deciding to marry Andy. I will admit in the beginning, there were some moments of insane frustration by the way they run their timelines and the waiting game you play to hear back from your planner. So much so that I really was questioning if we made the right decision. But the moment I saw the coach pull up I knew that Disney World was the only place I could have ever done it the way I wanted to. They literally made my dreams come true.

-Got the coach. It really was the one thing that pulled me into having our wedding there. I t was so expensive but it made the wedding into something other than a typical golf course boardroom reception wedding. I had gone back and forth during the planning process if I was just being too spoiled and we should have dropped it. But I am so happy that Andy insisted that it was all about me and in no way was he letting me get rid of it. Even my dad, who thought I was insane to get it due to the massive price tag, was blown away riding it in down the boardwalk. It was the most beautiful way to enter a wedding and worth every single penny I paid. Period.

-Decided against flower centerpieces. I will admit at first I didn’t want floral centerpieces because I was being cheap thinking I could do it with something else while saving a bundle. Our centerpieces ended up costing the same, if not more as a standard floral centerpiece but they were so beautiful. We did 3 foot trees with teacups hanging from the branches in different colored ribbon and teacups with floating Gerber daisies at the base. I had a moment when I saw my room of being on My Fair Wedding. I was speechless.

-Hired a photographer that had never done a Disney Wedding. I will be honest, at the beginning and almost right up until the wedding, I was scared that he wouldn’t know all the secret spots that Disney or Randy Chapman knew. But I had faith in him that because he had never done it he would work really hard to prove that he could. His excitement on the wedding day was worth it alone because it wasn’t a run of the mill job for him, he felt honored to be chosen to be there and he worked so hard to make every detail, every picture beautiful.

-Had the music piped in at Sago Cay for the desert party. And as a second part, had the desert party in the first place. We were going back and forth if it was worth it and I spent a lot of time on here reading everyone’s opinions and it honestly made the show. It wouldn’t have been the same just watching the fireworks. We cut the caricaturist to have the music and it was one of best changes we did. If you are contemplated having the music or not. Just do it. My wish I had list would have been much longer had it had not been for this site. The fireworks really made it feel like we paid a lot more for the wedding than we did. It was a perfect way to end the day.

Glad I didn’t….

-Give into everyone when they thought we were crazy for wanting our wedding there. I was so tired at the end of “So is goofy marrying you?” “Don’t you think it’s a little childish?” Blah blah blah. I had to keep faith in myself and my vision and the day of the wedding, there was not one single person not blown away by the beauty of it all. Vindication is a wonderful thing. And it gave me a huge lesson to trust myself even when everyone doubts you.

-Pay the extra $1000 for the DJ. Having an afternoon wedding and having so many people from out of town, dancing was really second to enjoying the day. Also having complete control over what was played was better than a random DJ playing a bunch of stuff we didn’t like. We had Metallica and AC/DC and everything we loved and got to skip all the club music that was bound to be played if we didn’t have control.

-Get the bridesmaids bouquets. It would have been at least $200 to get everyone else flowers and I am really happy since the ceremony was only 20ish minutes that I didn’t worry about it. And they didn’t feel like they were missing anything not having them. Also the pictures certainly did not suffer, it actually made my bouquet stand out that much more.

Wish I had….

-I honestly feel if I wouldn’t have had this site I would have a list of things for this part. Not having the music for Wishes, not having the coach, having a DJ, using Disney photography. The list could go on and on. Having this site and trusting my gut, I have nothing to put here. So thank you to all the people’s pj’s I stalked and all the ideas that came from it. My hope that if only one girl gets one idea from this list, I feel I would have helped in some way like you guys helped me. I’m sure as time goes by I will add more to the list but that’s what stands out the most 6 days into married life!!!

It's taken me quite a while to come back and do this. It's been quite the 3 weeks since the wedding. My dad started having heart pains last week after we got back from Florida. He got admitted to the hospital and after serveral tests, they found that he needed emergency triple bipass surgery. So I packed a bag and drove back to Canada. Actually, thankfully my husband drove me. Anyway dad went into surgery last Thursday and just has been released home. He is in very good spirits but obviously there's alot of things he's not capable of doing for himself. I am in Canada for a couple weeks to take care of him. My wedding seems like a life time ago now.

And my poor newlywed hubby is down in North Dakota playing video games and probably eating out too much :rotfl: However for the first year and a half of our relationship we drove back and forth every weekend so he's very capable of living without me but now he's alot more whiney about me coming home lol. Funnily enough, the week after the wedding we talked about how if we needed to leave for any length of time to take care of our family, we would both be willing to let the other go without a fuss or return date. My opinion is that my family spent 25 years making me who I am, Andy gets to enjoy all their hard work, so if they need me I have to go. There's no way around it. And I am so lucky to have a husband who totally understands that mindset and respects me more for it. I certainly never imagined it would be 2 weeks after our wedding.

We did get some picture sneek peeks last week which helped remind me of what was only a couple weeks ago. I am so thankful that I got to dance with my daddy at my wedding. Thats all I kept thinking about in the operating room waiting room. So I am working on a trip report and vendor reviews. And now that he's home and we aren't spending 15 hours a day at the hospital, I can finally get on it!

To me this was the greatest part of people's trip reports so I give you mine, as honest as possible and detailed. I really did love everything about the day and there's really nothing I would have changed that was in my control. :rolleyes1

:banana::dance3::yay::cool1:

DFTW staff: The staff was amazing throughout our whole stay in Disney but on the wedding day the were exceptional. I truly felt like I was the only princess to ever had a wedding in Disney. They were incredible. The food too was so good, it wasn't just the best wedding food but honestly one of the best meals I have ever had. I can't say enough about how special they made us feel on our wedding day. If you want to be treated like a million bucks on your wedding day, you're getting married in the right place!! :) :wizard:

Disney Guests: :worship: I really just have to say a quick something about the amazing Disney guests who made me feel so special all day. The little girls who would literally stop in their tracks and say "Mommy look a princess!" was the most incredible thing ever. The girl staying at my sisters resort who was getting married there next year who calmed my nerves. The lady who saw us at the end of the day walking back to our room still in wedding clothes and stopped us and told us about her Disney wedding 6 years earlier and told us its the one thing she will never regret, and all the bazillion congratulations that day. To me, there was no better place in the world that day.

David’s Bridal: My sales consultant, Gina was amazing. I tried on a billion dresses and even though it was Saturday and they were super busy, she spent 4 hours with me and never ever rushed me. I knew as soon as put it on that I found my dress but waited and kept looking for a while but as soon as I called she remembered me and remembered my dress. She really made the whole thing the wonderful experience it should be!

Kristi Davis: Simply amazing. :flower3: That’s the only words I can use for her. I asked her pages and pages of questions and she always had an answer and never made me feel as though I was a bother. She always made me feel like I was the only person she was working with. Had I had the same issues I had with her as I had with Diane, I doubt I would have had a DFTW. She will hold your hand through the beginning steps but also give you every option imaginable. As I will say over and over, I didn’t want cookie cutter, I wanted to make it mine. And she really helped me do that. I loved her.

Diane Bowen: As I said earlier, I was extremely frustrated during a lot of the planning process because I am a huge fan of email and apparently Disney is not. Communication was varied every time I sent an email to Diane, sometimes it would instant sometimes it would take days. It sometimes felt like because I was having a smaller (i.e. cheaper) wedding that I wasn’t as important as her other brides. I know that’s not the case and I know they have way too big of a work load, but sometimes I wanted answers yesterday. :rotfl2: On the wedding day though, she was awesome. She was super friendly to everyone and made sure that I always knew what time it was and what was happening next. In the end, I wasn’t completely satisfied with the overall process but when she needed to do her job on the wedding day she went above and beyond and that’s all I can ask for.

Elizabeth Sutton: :cheer2:Elizabeth made my day more beautiful than even this crazy planning bride could have imagined. From my bouquet to the centerpieces to the linens, it was perfect. She saw my vision and ran with it. Having a mad hatter wedding, I didn’t want to have the normal centerpieces, I didn’t want it to look like a wedding per say. So she suggested these trees with teacups hanging from them (among a million other suggestions!) and I fell in love. She was extremely meticulous with the details which I very much appreciated. I wanted to pick the napkin folds and the ribbon colors. I wanted to be completely submerged in the wedding planning process and she encouraged me do that. Plus, as a surprise she put in a square table in the room which I really wanted but refused to pay the $200 moving fee that they charged. She was awesome!!

Grand Floridian Bakery: I have to say first and foremost the cake was the most amazing cake I ever tasted. It had 2 flavors; marble cake with peanut butter mousse and red velvet with raspberry mousse. Diane was not very helpful with the cake either as she only recommended red velvet with cream cheese filling. That’s all. I am so happy we went with our guts and did it differently. It was so fresh and light. So my only complaint with the bakery is that I submitted a picture to Diane as a starting point. I wanted the bakery to take that picture and run with it and make it as crazy as they wanted to go with the Mad Hatter theme. Instead, I got that cake, the IDENTICAL cake. :headache: I was honestly disappointed when I got to the desert party and saw it. It was beautiful and everyone loved it but my big thing was that I wanted my wedding to be different than anyone else’s. In the end it’s not the worst thing that could have happened and I still had a beautiful cake, But as I’ve read, if you want something specific you have to ask for it. Otherwise, they won’t do anything other than what it says in the BEO. But it did light up which was really cool!

Carolyn Allen’s: They showed up right on time and made my dress all pretty. There’s not too much to write about them but they got the job done and there were no issues!

Men’s Warehouse: They were extremely friendly and went over all options with us. They made sure that the guy’s vests matched the girls dresses (a very nice thing between David’s Bridal and them!). They had everything delivered to the hotel two days before the wedding, called to make sure everything fit and then picked it all back up the day after. They made it very easy for us so it was one thing I didn’t have to think about.

Oscar Chavez: Oscar and Michelle were fantastic. In the beginning I was going back and forth between using Disney or using an outside vendor. I looked at all the Disney usuals but he worked for the job and convinced me to give him a chance. I was nervous to use someone other than Randy or David and Vicki but the enthusiasm he had was worth the risk. It wasn’t a run of a mill job for him, he was so excited. He came out from Tampa when we arrived in Orlando and spent a couple hours with us going to the locations and just hanging out with us. He felt honored that I gave him the opportunity to be there. He went over and above what he needed to do that day. He spent 5 hours between the reception and desert party and went in a town car with me and Andy to different resorts and took a million pictures. And now I feel lucky to call him a friend. He was worth every penny and a million more for what he did that day. :yay::woohoo:

Pearl Beach Paperies: Darcy Sang is one of the nicest people I have ever met in my life. princess: She is so incredibly creative and really worked to make everything perfect. She came up with so many great ideas that I would have never come up with on my own. She did everything from invites to programs and all the place and table cards. She made everything tie together and made the theme come to life. I would recommend her to anyone!

I think that is everyone!! I am so excited to actually start the wedding report and all the details of the day. Looking at the glad I did list and the vendor reviews, I think it may be too long for anyone to actually read but at least I'll have it as a keepsake! :rotfl2:

I feel awful! I forgot the most important person, the person we wouldn't even be married without....

Rev. Jack Day!!!

He was so easy to deal with and so friendly. The best part about him was that he let us write the whole ceremony and told me even he couldn't have written it as well as we did.:cheer2: We spoke to him a few times before but we only met him at the rehearsal. I felt insantly like I knew him for years. He was perfect the day of the wedding and added a very nice touch to the day. He hung around for pictures, which is something I hear not all of them do. Incredibly sweet, just loved him!

Incredibly sweet, just loved him!

I am so glad to hear this! DF and I want to use Rev. Day, and I am going to be writing our ceremony. I am glad to know he was so accommodating for that.

That was what sold me on him!! Most officiants, as far as I researched, wouldn't let you write the whole thing they would just let you add stuff. He was worth every penny! And he was very calming to us on the rehearsal day and to Andy before the wedding. He's also very funny and twisted a few words and pronounced them a certain way to get laughs out of everyone. You'll be in good hands!

So I am going to start working on the trip report but it doesn't seem like alot of fun without pictures! So I'm going to do a outline of the details so everything's in one place since looking back on my pj today there's not much there. It kind of makes me sad when I see all these awesome detailed ones so I'm hell bent now making my trip report as detailed as possible.:cool1:

Date: March 27th, 2011
Ceremony: Sea Breeze Point 12pm
Reception: St James Room and Patio, Boardwalk Inn 1pm-5pm
Desert Party: Sago Cay at the Grand Floridian 9pm-1030pm

Guests: 21 including myself and Andy. All we wanted was a small wedding. His family apparently felt that they could all invite themselves. This is one of those moments I wish I would have updated my PJ, I could have used lots of advice!! After alot of explaining and having people who had never even met me angry at me, we finally got it through to everyone that unless you got an invitation, you weren't invited (I presumed that was normal for weddings but apparently not :rotfl:)

The day of the wedding it was exactly what I wanted. This sounds crazy but we based our list based on tears. If you weren't moved enough to shead a tear, you can see the pictures when we get home. We went to hell and back to even have this wedding. We travelled back and forth every weekend for 2 years. We had a major crisis 8 months before the wedding. To boot, we paid for it all by ourselves. And all we wanted was the people who supported us through all that, who knew how much we faught to be there. And it was a beautiful intimate moment in time that no one will forget. :lovestruc

Music Choices: I painstakingly put together all the music for the whole day but I won't post the reception music as that varies with everyone. As much work as it took, I am so happy that I had the IPod, although Andy was starting to roll his eyes when the 2nd Bon Jovi song came on. :rotfl2: But I really struggled with the ceremony music and I spent alot of time looking at everyone's choices so here's mine:
Prelude: Disney love songs (I had to incorportate Disney somehow!!)

Andy, the groomsmen and Jack: Can You Feel The Love Tonight? (Andy and I have a huge sweet spot for the Lion King even having Nahla and Simba stuffed animals that live with us haha)

My girls: Wonderful Tonight (A beautiful song on acoustic guitar and a nice nod to my beautiful bridesmaids and mom)

My Entrance: Nothing Else Matters (This would be the closest thing you could pick as "our song" We are both huge fans and the first night we met we made a date to go see them. Well 3 days later they announced a stop in Winnipeg and 6 months after that, there we were!!)

Recessional: Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah (Such a happy song!)

I let my dad choose his dance and he chose "My Little Girl" by Tim Mcgraw. He did it to himself :rotfl2: He had a very hard time from Saturday to Monday. He was crazy emotional and that song really got to him. But to look up at him and say "daddy love you more" during the song will be something that will stay with me forever!

Andy and I danced to "Seat Next To You" by Bon Jovi. This was what makes it obvious to me that all Andy cared about was making me happy that day. (Side note completely and hopelessly in love with him, I will play them any chance I get and always have one of their dvd's in the player just in case) It is a beautiful song and since I walked down the aisle to Metallica, he let me win this round!

And a quick note, our last dance was "Wagon Wheel" By Old Crow Medicine Show. Epic ending to the reception. It was my favorite 5 minutes of the whole day. We had everyone in circle clapping thier hands and stomping their feet and just enjoying everyone's company. It was beautiful.
