View Full Version : Turning 40, Gotta lose 40~A New Chapter in my weight loss journey

I have decided to start a new journal for this new (and hopefully final) chapter in my weight loss journey. Here (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2192588) is my old journal, just in case you have nothing better to do than read about my running and such.;)

If you don't want to read the whole enchilada, then here is the Cliffs notes version:

I am currently 39, will turn 40 in November. I had hoped to reach my goal weight of 125 by then, but that is not going to happen. I would like to reach my goal by my next vacation, another cruise at the end of June. I started my journey in 2007 at the abominable weight of 214. Currently I am at 165, which is about 8 lbs heavier than my lowest recent weight. I trained all summer for the DL half, which I PR'd btw:banana:. I am in a bit of a funk with my running currently, not feeling the love at all. I have another half coming up 2 weeks from today, I am just looking to finish at this point. I am going to spend the winter working on weight loss and cross training. I am going to try spinning and I definately need to strengthen my upper body. I am really, really hoping that a break from running will bring back my mojo and I will want to run again.

So thats it. Tomorrow morning I am starting point counting with WW again. I had great success with it in the past, I just can't lose weight when I am seriously training for a big race. I am going to walk on the TM
(which I don't mind) 3x week, run outside 3x week and take one day off. Once I get past the half, then I will start spinning and weights.

Any advice or encouragement is welcome and appreciated. Thanks for reading or posting.

Monday, Monday. No one likes Monday. Me included. But alas, you can't stop it from coming back around every week.

I had a horrible headache last night, was hoping that it would go away with a good nights sleep. And it did. So I got up and walked on the treadmill, 1.25 miles in 30 minutes with an incline of 3%. A good workout. Earned myself 2 exercise points.

Hi there,

I've read a bunch of your post all over the WISH board before and your review of the DL 1/2. I've found your story, and many others here on WISH, to be inspirational.

Good luck with your new start on WW. I've always done well with their plan. It sounds like a little break from running may be exactly what you need to get your enthusiasm for training back on track. I'll be interested to hear about the spinning. I've never tried that before.

Best of luck to you! I look forward to following along with your journal.

Thanks lolakat! I am going to try to post daily, especially my food journal, since that works out best at keeping me accountable. I was a couple points over today, but that is what flex points are for. And since it is my first day back, it will take some time to get back in the groove.

Yesterday was a tough day. Its hard to get back into the good eating habits when you have been so far off the wagon. It will take about a week for me to adjust, I just have to be tough and power through.

I realized when I looked at yesterdays entry that I entered my weight wrong. I have to adjust it, have to be honest.

Walked for 30 minutes on the treadmill, earned 2 exercise points.

It is deffinetly hard to adjust to a new eatting program. I think it looks like you are doing great over your first couple of days. I love that WW gives the flex points to help with the little "blips" life throws us. It's important to be able to splurge every once in a while without feeling guilty

Weather has been dreary, which makes getting up and getting on the treadmill hard to do. But I did, which is a success. After training for the last 5 months, I wish I could sleep in more, but morning is the best time for me to exercise.

So, today we had an office lunch at the chinese buffet. Which I love. I tried to eat more veggies, but some items are just too hard for me to resist. So I blew almost all my points for the week today, but that is okay. Now I just have to keep pushing the water, I am so darned thirsty from the salt in the food!

Hi Veronica
Good to see you here again. We are within .8 lbs of each other right now.Retaining fluid is my problem so I keep fluctuating.Sometimes you have to eat out and that sabotages everthing when you have to weigh in.

I remember the blahs after every race- they say that it is normal.Boy it is hard getting back out there too- congrats on doing that for another 1/2

Keep up the good work- you are going in the right direction.

Well, the scale was oh so unkind today. But that was to be expected. The eating out is done with, so now I can stay on plan and this bounce back should be gone soon.

Try not to fret too much about that "bounce back" weight. I think day to day weights can be so variable with water retention etc etc. I try to ignore them and look at weekly or even monthly trends (so hard to do though).
You are doing great with your point tracking. I'm sure those lbs will be melting away soon!

BTW, thanks so much for stopping by my journal!!

I totally spaced and did not post yesterday. We had torrential rains and I was trying to get out of the house early to beat the traffic. Got home late, made dinner and fell into my chair and asleep.

I am going to try to get out for a couple 3 milers this week as well, but the forecast is a bit dodgy at this point, it may rain again this week.

Here we are again, Monday. One full week of being back on track (mostly). I didn't walk this morning, overslept. Which is okay since I ran both days on the weekend, and I usually take Mondays off. So no extra points for me today.

Weight: I have decided to only weigh on Mondays, its too depressing to watch the numbers go up and down all week!
weighed in at 156.6, so a 2.2 lb loss from last week. Which is great. No its not the almost 5 lbs I would have had yesterday, but its all good.

I am working at my part time office today instead of my regular one, so my day will be a bit different. The last few days have been hectic and the weather hasn't helped. It has finally stopped raining, we are expecting some nice weather for the weekend. I have been a little stressed with a work issue. My part time job (I work 1 day a week at one dental office in addition to the 4 days I work at my full time job). My part time place is expanding and they have said they wanted to hire me for full time. Last week an offer was finally made, and it was a VERY lowball offer. And no security. I am on salary at my f/t office, so my check is the same every week. At the p/t place, I would have to punch a clock and could be sent home if there were no patients. So my check would vary. Something I am not comfortable with, since I am the primary earner in our house. I go in today, so I have to tell him that I am not coming on full time. And I worry that they may not want me to stay on Fridays. Which is not horrible, but the money from Fridays is helping to pay down debt and for birthdays and vacations etc.

Sorry for the rant, but its been affecting me. And my eating. I am hoping that after today its better.

Sorry to hear about the work stress. They must like your work if they wanted to make you full time. In which case they would be foolish to let you go from your part-time role. I hope it all works out for the best.

VernRDH

Thanks Lola. I talked to the doctor at the part time office yesterday and explained why I was not comfortable taking a full time position there at this point. I think he understood where I was coming from. I am going to continue to work on Fridays there, which is good because that money is paying down debt and saving for our next vacation. So while I could live without it, it does make life a heck of a lot easier with it.

No exercise again as tomorrow is race day. I am feeling the fire again, ready to go out and leave it all out there. A new PR would be nice, but I won't beat myself up if I don't.

I have stayed off the scale, hoping it is kind to me on Monday morning.

So the race is done. Did I PR? No, not even close. I was on pace (actually almost a minute ahead at one point) until mile 6, when I started to get a pain in my left foot on the outside all up and down my pinky toe. Then my arch started to hurt. If I walked it hurt more, so I just ran slow. I met some really nice ladies while chugging along, it helped to have someone to commiserate with! My official time was 2:28:25. When I got home, the arch of my left foot and the base of the big toe on my right have big blisters, which I have never had before. The outside of the left foot still hurts, tender if I put pressure on it. I am planning to rest it and see what happens. I think maybe the shoes may be done, too many miles.

Another strange thing was that once I got home, I could not leave the bathroom. Usually I have 1 or 2 episodes of "runners trots" when I finish a long run or race. But this time my stomach really hurt and as soon as I left the bathroom, I had to turn around and go back. And the nausea, boy oh boy. DH was up last night with the same thing, perhaps it was a bug? I didn't even eat until dinner time tonight, and I didn't even think about points today. Tomorrow is a new week, I will start again with WW. I would like to get down to 155 by my birthday next month, which I can do if I stay on plan.

Great Job keeping up with the excercise. :thumbsup2 That is just as important as the eatting if not more so.

Hi Veronica about your question about races in the area- there is a half in Simsbury ,CT. in June- it was the 6th this year and I thought about doing it but DD graduated and had alot going on.The area is beautiful and relatively flat.

I am not doing anymore January Disney races after this year so I plan on doing the York,Maine race the first week of November next year- I know the whole area since we go a couple times every summer- would you be interested in that one? I know it is all women and there are medals- I like that it isn't just a tshirt.

I am trying to plan 3 halfs for next year-the first on New Years day, one in May/June and then the Mohawk Hudson Half (which I just did) in October. I may check into the CT one. I know there is one in VT, the Covered Bridges in early/mid June. Trying to diversify a bit too!

I am now coming down with the plague that DD and DH have-UGH:sick: My throat is all scratchy and I am tired. Now I did run 5 miles this morning and have been busy all weekend with chores and errands. But I just cannot succumb to this illness, there is no time. Going to take a nap and see if that helps.

Food, :headache::rolleyes1 I'm not even going to talk about it today. Tomorrow is another day, I did shop yesterday and bought all the things I need to have a successful week on WW. The issue is that I have to stick to the plan. Feeling as I do, it should not be a problem.

Yesterday afternoon I got out of work early. I went to pick up DD's birthday gift then went to the market. I needed milk, but wanted to find something to cook for dinner that wasn't plain grilled chicken. I had some ideas, but could not seem to find ingredients that would result in a low fat, lower calorie TASTY meal. I have reserved the WW cookbook from the library, hoping that I can get some good ideas from there.

This weekends project is to clean the kitchen. I mean, really, really clean it. Take everything out of the cupboards, throw away stuff we don't use and reorganize. DH is letting me buy new dishes for everyday, since we have had the same ones for 13 years. And new silverware too!! But we are trying to be economical about it, so we spent yesterday afternoon driving around town looking at things. Then looking at stuff on the internet. We *think* we have a decision, but have to go back to one store today to look at the silverware again before we pull the trigger.

We went to the Y this morning, spent 20 minutes walking and DD and I did 20 minutes on the recumbent bikes. Earned 2 pts.

Ok so last night was not good. I got home from work to find my new dishes were here (YAY!). But I was absolutely starving. And all I wanted was cereal and toast. No I have noticed that every time I eat cereal for dinner, I gain the next day. But yet it doesn't stop me. I WAY overate last night. I have flex points, but I am probably going to have to use the remainder of them today, as we are going out for office lunch for my birthday (can't go next week, schedule will not allow it). So, I have to stay on plan for the rest of the week. And I am doing my walking, which does help. Tonight dinner for me will have to be quick, since I am taking DD to TKD. We have to go every night this week in order for her to get in the required number of classes before the next test.

Yes the weekends are definately much harder, when our access to food is greater as well. I am going shopping later tonight (I don't want to go tomorrow and deal with the crowds) and will try to buy good stuff.

I did get my dishes washed and put away. We are very happy with them, I just need to get some more bowls that complement them.

I meant to respond on your thread about scrubs-I wear them too and no one noticed for a long time that I had lost weight. They hide a multitude of sins, but also hide our progress!

I don't think I talked about my plan to get to goal weight before we went to Disney in July. Basically I need to lose 6 pounds each month to reach my goal on July 1, when we leave. So I started on November 1, at 167. So by Dec 1, I need to be 161. Jan 1, 155. etc. If I don't make the whole six pounds, I will add them to the next month, trying to hit my target weight for each month. It is so completely doable, just a matter of staying on track through the holidays and keeping up with the exercise.

Thanks Linda!

I took off Friday and Saturday from exercising. I figured I needed a day to rest Fri and Sat I just did not want to get out of bed. I was agitated, feeling like someone had a hand mixer going full tilt inside me. Agitated because I had my first mammogram last week and have to go back for more pictures of my left breast, there is something there. They do not believe it is anything serious, but I have to go back. And while they SAY its not anything, I am still a bit worried about what it actually IS. So agitated.

I also ate kind of poorly Friday night and all day yesterday. But to my utter delight, I was rewarded this morning on the scale with a loss. Hmm. I don't get it, but I'll take it. Weight down to 161.4:banana: Only slightly off my goal, hoping I can make it up along the way this month.

Ran 3.6 miles in 39:41 today, 10:50 pace. Was very windy and cold. And I wore my old sneakers for some reason:confused3, just picked up the wrong ones in my groggy state this morning. I went to Fleet Feet today and got new ones for my FIL to give me for Christmas. I tried on Saucony, Asics, Nike, Brooks and NB. I opted against the Saucony, since it is the same one I have now and I had problems with it while training this summer. I had tried the Gel Kayano from Asics before, but this time it did not feel quite right. I ended up with the Nike, which is just strange to me, since I have never had good luck with Nike before. But I think my foot has changed, and they really felt the best of all the shoes I tried on.

I am going to try to use WW as a "guide" and not obsess over the points, as it seems that doing so does not work out for me. I will see how it goes this week, and if need be, will go back to counting points next week.

Another cold day here in NY. Glad I have the treadmill. Though I would really prefer to go outside and run. I am leaning toward running the Hangover Half on New Years Day, so I really should kick it up a notch.

Ran 3 miles in 31:19, not too bad.

Got sidetracked and forgot to get on the scale.

Hi Veronica,
Great job on the incline, I have not done that on the treadmill at all.Temp here is 14 today, no wind which is good and no snow except for a dusting.

Hangover half sounds interesting???

Have a good one,
Linda

Thanks Linda! The Hangover Half is at noon on New Years day. It is part of the Winter Series of runs sponsored by the running club. It is free for club members (which I am). It is a pretty low key race. I may do it just as a "fun run". Funny how a half marathon can be a "fun run". It will depend on the weather for me.

Ok, I give up for the time being. The universe is conspiring against me at this point, but hopefully things will get better soon.

Eating is way out of control, I did all my baking over the weekend. One of my true downfalls is cookies. But they will be going to my brothers on Saturday, then gone forever.

I ran yesterday, now that I am officially training again. But took today off in favor of running outside on Friday.

The biggest problem I am having is my stress leverl is WAAAAY high. I had my repeat mammo on Monday, then had an ultrasound. Radiologist comes in, starts talking about biopsy. I tell her that I had already talked to my doctor about having breast reduction. Once she hears who my doctor is, she says, oops sorry, no biopsy until you have seen her and she sends you to a surgeon. WHAT??? So surgeons and biopsies, I am a bit freaked out. They do not feel the cyst they are looking at is cancerous, but the calcified tissue she also wants to biopsy is potentially a problem in the future. So, I am having a bit of stress. And the worst part is that this is when I really, really could use my mom and she is gone. That is the hardest part. My DH is great, but its not the same.

So until I know more about the breast issue and the holidays are over, I am just going to try to maintain. Resolution of that will then let me get my head back where it needs to be.

VernRDH
01-01-2011, 09:03 AM
Sooo:rolleyes1 I kinda have been slacking off, not eating well or anything. Stress from the holidays and my health issue have been wrecking havoc on me.

I am scheduled for a stereotactic biopsy and an ultrasound guided needle biopsy on Monday. While no one seems to think anything is cancerous, I am still a bit freaked out by the whole thing. There is also the not knowing how all this will impact my training, but I can only do what I can and my health has to come first.

I am starting the new year off right by running a half marathon today. Not racing, just running. Figure its an easy way to drop a couple pounds quick!

Unfortunately, my weight this morning was 171, up 4 pounds from November 1st when I set out to lose 6 lbs per month to meet my goal by the time we went to the World in July. I will now have up up that to 7.5 lbs per month, which is still acheivable. And again, dealing with the breast issue has to take precedence, so I am going to try to stick to plan and take it one day at a time.

Home from my biopsies, my breast is numb and on ice at the moment.
They did the stereotactic biopsy first, that one was the worst! Very uncomfortable, not necessarily painful, but kinda hard to describe. Like having a root canal while giving birth. The ultrasound guided needle biopsy was nothing, I didn't feel a thing. Unfortunately, they were a bit concerned about my BP, as it was off the charts. Now wouldn't your blood pressure go up if you were facing this type of thing too? So now I have to go see my GP next week for a follow up of that. And they should have my path report by then too.

I can only take Tylenol for the next couple days, and they expect me to bruise quite nicely. I am ready to go to bed, didn't sleep well last night and the post procedure adrenaline let down has got me feeling ready to hit the hay.

No exercise for a couple days, which works out since my legs are still killing me from the half on Saturday.

Hi Vern,
Sorry I havn't stopped by in a while. It sounds like you are keeping a very good attitude though all the stress you are dealing with at the moment. I'm glad to hear that the biopsy is behind you. Hopefully you will be getting good news on the path soon and your mind will be at ease. I am so impressed that you ran a half marathon "for fun" while dealing with everything else. I hope the new year brings you calmer waters.

Breast feels okay, I slept well last night, just a bit itchy around the steri strips. DH finally looked at it last night and said "holy s*&t, that looks painful" Men.

Lots of snow here last night, made my drive home from work twice as long. But hey, thats what happens here in the northeast.

Yesterday did not go as planned-boss took us out for lunch. Indian/Pakistani food. Great stuff, but heavy on the chicken and carbs (rice and naan, fresh baked YUM!). I did my best to use some restraint, but basmatti yellow rice and I are such good friends. Then we were having subs for dinner. I did only get the small chicken sub, so not too far off the rails there.

DH and I talked yesterday about our upcoming trip to WDW-we are taking a cruise now for the first 3 days of the trip and then 6 days at the World. Should be nice to relax a bit on a ship before the hustle and bustle of Disney.

Yesterday was a great day. Talked to my OB/GYN, she had my results, everything was benign. AMEN!!! What a relief. Went to my GP to check my BP, all good there. My breast is horribly bruised and there is a nice hematoma that my doc says may take weeks to go down. Waiting for the discomfort when moving to subside before I start running again. Well, we are dug out from the snow. I did the last snowblowing this morning. Glad I came home early yesterday, it continued to snow all day, even though the weatherman said it would stop by 3pm. It was nice to come home early yesterday too, just to relax. But then, I went to bake biscuits for supper and my oven is on the fritz. The ignitor is bad, has to be replaced. Thankfully it is only a $25 part and we can do it ourselves. But I have no oven until then:headache:

Hi Vern,

I hear you on the blahs. I bet we will all feel better once spring starts to show itself. I always think February is the hardest part of winter. Just so over it!!

Good luck with the new program for the tredmill. Hopefully that will keep things fresh until you can get outside to run again.

VernRDH
02-02-2011, 02:58 PM
Thanks Lola! I did the third day of the program today, its going well. We had a snow day today, most of the area is shut down due to the big storm. So I got to sleep in AND do a workout, what a treat!

I weighed in yesterday, first day of the month. 172.2. So I only lost 1.6 pounds for January. Not very good. I am just having a hard time with food. I really, really need to buckle down and track points. I don't know why I am not able to do so. I am missing my running outside, and I know that once I can get back out it will help me immensely. But with the snow piles as tall as I am now, I don't know when I will ever be able to get back out.

I have also been cooking more lately-making comfort meals on the weekends. Yesterday I got out of work early and I made spaghetti for dinner. Having it again tonight too. This weekend is SuperBowl, so we will have pizza then. I might make something for Saturday, hard to say right now. Depends on everyones schedule and what they want to eat. Portions are what I need to be mindful of.

I don't start training again until April 17, so hopefully this walking plan will help me make it til then.

Snow is such a pain in the butt. I am sooo tired of it. Now it is also freezing cold to boot. Winter can't end soon enough.

Did the incline workout on the treadmill today, 35 minutes, 1.96 miles. Now to stay on track with food. I may be going out for lunch today for my coworkers birthday. Don't know if we will do it today or on Monday.

Same old breakfast, dinner is breakfast-eggs, sausage and hash browns. That is our new Thurs night tradition. Normally we eat out on Friday, but with SuperBowl on Sunday, we are eating in tomorrow and getting pizza for the game. FIL is coming over too, and DH wants "munchies". Great.

/sigh. Life is just crazy here. I have been doing my workouts, not a problem. My eating however has been all over the place. And I lost a dear friend this week, she would have been 41 next week. She had health problems all her life, but this was unexpected. The funeral will be on Saturday, and all of us girls from school will be attending together. It will be the first time since our reunion 2 yrs ago that we will all be together. Which is sad.

The weather is just cruddy, yesterday the roof of our shed collapsed. We can barely get to the shed, much less clean up. But we are going to have to try to get to it this weekend so that we can cover up our lawnmower and tractor.

I am discouraged about my lack of weight loss, but know that once I get back outside running things will turn around. So my goal is just to maintain/lose a little until I can get back outside. I start training again in April, and once I get there things should head back in the right direction. Just have to get there.

Have been sick with a sinus infection for the last few days. On antibiotics, but not feeling a heck of a lot better yet, sinus headache almost all the time.

I have started using FitDay again to help keep track of my food. I am still tracking points as well, but I think it helps to keep me more accountable.

Weight was down to 170.4 today, a success!

Doing well with my exercise plan, took yesterday off due to the sinuses.

Weather here has been up and down, Thurs and Fri were beautiful and warm, now we are back to arctic chill and looking at 3-6 inches of snow tonight and tomorrow.

Still waiting for the weather to get better. At least it is lighter in the morning, but its so blasted cold I can't go out to run.

Really buckling down with food, but DH and I splurged on Tuesdsay and it cost me dearly. Weight is at 171.4, up a bit. But I really felt yucky yesterday as well. Trying to stay on plan since Saturday we are having family over for dinner and that means eating more than usual.

Did some running on the mill yesterday, speed pyramid and today I did the BL Last Chance Workout. I liked it, I will probably incorporate it into my routine.

I have been lax in keeping up with my journal here, but I have been using FitDay regularly to track my food.

Weight down to 170.8, hoping to get into the 160's by Tuesday (March 1)

Exercise has been okay, I kinda fell off the wagon with the 12 week walking plan, while in theory its good, I just feel the need to run so I alter the plan to suit me. Which is still good. And on Thursday I did a video, the BL Last Chance Workout, and boy did I feel it the next day! But its good to do different things.

Hoping spring will be here soon-we got almost a foot and a half of snow in the last couple days. UGH.

First day of March. My weight is supposed to be around 159.
Its not.:headache:

I am stuck at 170.8, but I am confident that things will improve when the weather get better and I can get out and run. But in the meantime, I am sticking to my eating plan and doing the treadmill at least 4 days a week.

It will work out, I know I can do it, I have already done it already. I would like to lose 7 lbs this month. I think I can do it.

Still stuck with the weight, but finally got outside to run today.

IT WAS GLORIOUS!!! 37 degrees and a bit breezy (actually a pretty strong headwind on my way back). But I loved every minute of it! 3 miles in 31:51, 10:38 pace, not too shabby for not having run my 3 mile route in MONTHS.

Short lived the weather will be, as it is supposed to rain and possibly SNOW again tomorrow. UGH. Make it stop, I cry uncle, uncle!

:rolleyes1 So, I haven't posted in quite a while. Shame on me.

Life has been busy, I have been working out 4-5 days a week. Still not able to get outside on a regular basis to run, did go out yesterday:)

Food wise, I am at a point where the WW is just not cutting it. I have gone back to fitday and using my BMR/AMR to target calories. Working okay WHEN I STICK TO IT.

Training starts in 2 weeks, can't wait. At that point I should see more results with the weight loss.

Hi Vern,

I've been away from posting on WISH for a while too. I hope spring is starting to find you where you live. Here, in NC, we've had some very beautiful days over the last couple of months. I have never tried Fitday. I hope it is working for you. What are you starting to train for in 2 weeks?

Hey Lola, I just posted on your journal!

I started training yesterday for the Camp Chingachgook Challenge Half Marathon. Its in Lake George, NY at the camp my DD goes to. It is very hilly, so way out of my comfort zone. Then my "A" race is in October.

Two days into training and I am down 3 lbs. Love it!!! I am really trying to be dilligent with the journaling on FitDay, it does seem to help.

DH bought me the Golds Gym Cardio Workout for the Wii with the boxing gloves. Its a blast! I think it will be a nice supplement to my running.

This morning was a speed workout-1 mile @ 10:30, the 0.5 mile @ 8:34, then half mile recovery (walk and jog). Repeat the speed and recovery segments, then 1 mile at 10:30 again. Total time 44:10, 4 miles done.

I am going to try to be better about journaling here, with the structure of the training plan it may be easier to do.

Hey Linda!!

October is the Mohawk Hudson River Half Marathon. I ran it this past October, just 5 weeks after DL. I ended up hurting my foot about half way through, though I still finished in my second best half marathon time. The speed work is supposed to help me get closer to the 2 hour mark for this year. If I can get the 40 lbs I need to lose off, that will help immensely as well.

Pouring rain this morning, so I am opting to run tomorrow instead. Plus then I feel like I "earn" my dinner tomorrow, since we are hosting Easter. Did my baking today and made deviled eggs, which are always a big hit around here.

Sounds like your interval training is going great. I've hear Lake Geroge is beautiful although I've never been there myself. I used to be afraid of the idea of running hills but there is no way to avoid them where I live now so I'm forced to train on them whenever I run outside. I guess it is a good thing. I hope your Easter dinner tomorrow is a success. Deviled Eggs... Yumm!!

Have a Happy Easter.

Lola-Lake George is beautiful. DH proposed to me while we were camping on one of the islands on the lake, and DD goes to the same camp DH went to when he was a kid. I looked at the elevation profile, it looks like an EKG really, with a nice spike at mile 11.5:eek: But I am hoping the hill work and speed work will help me conquer that!

Easter dinner was great-I have tons of left overs, but mainly the grilled chicken, which I plan to use in salads all week. The deviled eggs did not go as one would have hoped (meaning people ate them, but I still have a ton left) but the cake was a huge success.

Ran this morning, 3 miles in 30:07. Which was stunning since every run this week has been slow. And since Wednesday, I really haven't been on the wagon with my eating. So today I expected the slog, closer to 11min miles, but was pleasantly surprised at my split times. Weather was nice for a change, I actually regretted wearing a long sleeve shirt and tights. Should have gone for short sleeves and shorts. This weeks weather is looking warmer, but wet, so we will see how that works. I am going to stick to doing my hills/speed work on Thursday, so I have a recovery day before I have to run again.

Back on track with eating plan tomorrow, no question about it. Also I think I have to eliminate some dairy from my diet, I have had trouble with cheese and milk recently. I think its possibly lactose intolerance. I may have to experiment with a few things and see what happens. That would be a bummer, since I love cereal. Cheese I can live without, but my cereal and yogurt would be tough to give up.

:rolleyes1:rolleyes1 Sooo, I haven't been over here in a while. Life is just crazy busy right now. Work, all my outdoor projects, training, the kid.

Work-well it is what it is. Have 2 fridays off, but those are filled with house projects.

House projects-put my garden in last weekend. Had to modify my garden enclosure had to bury some chicken wire to keep the voles out. Then planted most everything. We have to construct a new shed, as ours collapsed over the winter. Since the new shed is larger than the old, we have to re-engineer the placement and base construction of the new shed. Plus lawn mowing and getting the pool up and running.

Training-4 weeks done, I have missed 2 runs so far due to weather. I am not sweating it at all. I have done 5 half marathons, I know I can do the distance. Since I am working on hills and speed, getting those workouts in are key. I will miss 10 days while we are away in July, and I am totally okay with that.

The kid-oh the angst and drama of the 11 year old girl. Friends, friends parents, cliques. Its a lot to deal with. Trying to keep everyone on an even keel. A plus-school is almost over for the year, next year is all new.

Weight-well, I am not going anywhere fast there. Its a slow process, and I am not helping it any by not keeping my eating under control. Obviously I am exercising enough, just have to watch better what I eat.

Not much going on here. I missed 2 short runs this week due to a stomach bug, but got out for my 7 mile long run this morning. Its been raining for most of the last week, today was mostly nice with some rainy times. DD was with my dad today, so DH and I had the day to ourselves. We started working on the shed, until the rain came and we were mucho frustrated. Then we went out for lunch and bought new bikes! Hoping to start biking as a family, now that DD has a bike and can ride it (don't ask).

Weight-down a bit this week with the stomach issue, but don't know that it will last. Still have to eat dinner tonight, DH wants to eat out again. We'll see, waiting for the kid to get home.
