So, yesterday morning I receieved an email from Michelle, the woman we have been speaking to at DFTW for about 6 months now, that my DF Rich and I had been given our first time choice of 5:00 pm for our Escape wedding at SBP on May 16, 2011. We were thrilled!!! I have been browsing the posts on here for a while now and since everything is starting to fall into place, I figured I would start our PJ. I'll start off with a little background info about who we are and how we met.
In Dec 05, I was checking my myspace (yes, Myspace...before I got sucked into the FB trend LOL) and realized I had a message from someone I didn't know. Rich had sent me a PM asking if I would interested in becoming friends with him. I was hesitant at first, not normally being one to talk to people online that I didn't know, but figured what could chatting online really hurt? After a couple months of talking, he asked if I would like to meet up with him at the mall and grab a bite to eat. I had just recently ended a bad relationship and wasn't interested in starting a new one, but went anyways and we really hit it off! We began dating shortly after, and in June '06 my mother decided that she needed out of NJ and wanted to relocate to SC. I had just turned 19 at the time and couldn't really afford to live on my own and was a little excited about the move, until I realized that would mean one of two things. Rich and I would either have to have a long distance relationship or we would have to break it off. When I brought it up to him, to my surprise, he asked "You think your mom would let me come with you?" We sat down with both of our parents and discussed the situation and both sides were fine with him joining us. We hadn't been together long, but we both knew that a long distance relationship wouldn't work and that neither one of us wanted to end things. So away we went to SC, been living here a little over 4 years now and things have just gotten better and better.
I am a full time pre-nursing student and wish to join the US Navy after the wedding, and Rich is a cook at a local sports bar, saving up money to go to culinary school. We became engaged on my 21st birthday, May 20th 2008. It's not a very romantic story, but it's ours. About a week before, my Dr had found a suspicious lump that she wanted to biopsy, so on my birthday, we went together to have things checked out. When we arrived back home we found that our cat, Lola, had knocked my water that I had mistakenly left on the dresser onto my laptop and that was the end of that. It had just been a horrible day and I just broke down and started crying. Out of nowhere, Rich comes up to me and says "I wanted to do this in a more romantic way, but I hope that this will make you feel a little better. Will you marry me? And he pulled out the most beautiful ring, and of course, I said "YES!!!!!"
So here we are, 2 years AFTER our engagement and 4.5 years into our relationship, starting to plan our wedding and we couldn't be more excited!!! I have a few pictures that I will post later on of my dress and my MOH and BM's dresses.

So, I purchased my dress in Aug 2009 from Davids Bridal. After a few trips back and forth to the store to try on about 30 different dresses, I had my heart set on a strapless pick-up with a cuff neckline and lace-up back. Since we had not yet decided on our colors, I wasn't too sure about ordering it in case we changed our mind, not knowing when the actual wedding would be taking place. The woman who helped me told me to wait a minute and that she had something in mind I might like. When she showed me the dress, I wasn't too excited but decided to try it on anyway. When I walked out of the dressing room, before I had a chance to really look at myself, my mother started crying and said "That's the one!" When I turned around and looked in the mirror, I was sold!! I look a mess and I obviously have had to try very hard to restrain myself from putting it on every chance I get!!! There is no train, but the skirt itslef is HUGE which I love!!!
http://i984.photobucket.com/albums/ae323/jerziegirl520/102_1214-1.jpg
And my shoes, of course, which I purchased about a month ago. They are very high, but Rich is about 6'3'' so it works out great!
http://i984.photobucket.com/albums/ae323/jerziegirl520/myshoes.jpg
Now, our colors are Pistachio and Clover (from DB) and we are planning on having yellow flowers. I LOVE daisies but since we haven't spoken to the flower people yet we haven't made up our minds. I don't have pictures of my girls in their dresses, since they're all fitted in different states, so I just copied the images from the website to give everyone an idea. I allowed them to choose whatever dress they'd like as long as it was available is our colors.
First up is my MOH who will be wearing Pistachio (dress is shown in clover)
http://i984.photobucket.com/albums/ae323/jerziegirl520/katie.jpg
Next are my Bridesmaids. Both in Clover
http://i984.photobucket.com/albums/ae323/jerziegirl520/nikki.jpghttp://i984.photobucket.com/albums/ae323/jerziegirl520/alisha.jpg
The dress on the right will be worn by my 18 year old niece. My sister has not yet decided if she can afford to make the trip to WDW from TN so we're not sure if she will make it as well.
I don't have any pictures of the guys attire, but we decided to not go with the traditional tux. We are simply doing khaki dress pants with white button down shirts and vests/ties from Mens Warehouse. His BM and GM's will be in Pistachio (Clover has a black back which would be fine if they were wearing jackets, but I think it will throw things off) and Rich will be wearing Maize yellow (to match our yellow flowers and so he stands out!)
So....what does everyone think??? Has anyone ever had their groom NOT in a tux?? We figured, since we're not doing the big church wedding, that we could go a little more casual and we know how that heat can be in Olrando!!!

I love your dress. Just how high are the heels of your shoes? They look very high.

They're about 3.5 inches and surprisingly, very comfortable!!!

Whoops! almost forgot to add that when I ordered the dress(this was the one I tried on at the store), I had them add extra length onto the bottom so now because of the shoes, I don't need to have the length altered

Your dress is so nice. It's funny how that works that you have one thing in mind and end up with something different. Same thing happened to me. The dress I'm getting I had seen hanging and was like ugh I don't want to try that on, but once I did..it was love at first sight. :lmao:

Just got an email that our Magic Kingdom and EPCOT photo sessions are confirmed for May 17th!!!! I currently have 2 dresses, my gown for the ceremony and one which I purchased a few months ago since I was told that our photos could possibly take place BEFORE the ceremony. Since they are being held the day after our ceremony, I've been thinking about wearing my second dress to the EPCOT shoot. Does anyone know if I would be able to make a "quick change" before our session starts at EPCOT?? Also, what is the transportation for the shoots?? Would we be driving ourselves (we will have a car) or is it provided?? And transportation from MK to EPCOT??

Haven't updated in a while. I have been super busy with school so I haven't been doing much wedding stuff.
We sent out our Save-The-Dates for our Reception about 2 weeks ago. We are holding it at an Italian restaurant in NJ on July 3, 2011. We chose a date so far behind our actualy wedding date so that Rich and I could get a few weeks of working in before we take another vacation. We go to NJ every year for the week of 4th of July and rent a house at the Jersey Shore. July 3rd is my father's birthday and he passed away 7 years ago so we felt it would be a nice way to honor him which is why we chose it =) We apre planning on doing an Alice in Wonderland theme and have already starting picking up some vintage teapots that we want to use as center pieces with flowers set in them. Here is one I just ordered and it is PERFECT!

We were also assigned our wedding coordinator last week, and we got Karen Serrette. I am scheduled to have our phone session this Thursday, 10/14, and will post some details once we speak. So far, she has answered every email very quickly which gives me a good feeling that she will be wonderful!
Now it's time to hit the books! Midterms are this week which has just added more stress to my life on top of planning a wedding!

We started purchasing some stuff for our welcome bags a few weeks ago to give us a head start. We plan on putting some park maps, itineraries, list of hidden mickeys, snacks and bottled water (which we won't be purchasing until April sometime) and toiletries. I decided to use Bath & Body works since they have some killer sales going on right now for the holiday season. For the ladies, we got travel sized body lotion, shower gel, body spray and hand sanitzers in coordinating scents. we have Orange Sapphire, Warm Vanilla Sugar, Japanese Cherry Blossom, White Citrus, Midnight Pomegranate, Coconut Lime Verbana, Twilight Woods and Sweet Pea. Here is a pic of just one of the "essentials pack" (don't know why it is posting so HUGE!)
http://i984.photobucket.com/albums/ae323/jerziegirl520/Wedding/2010-11-06191509.jpg
For the men, we got the unscented hand sanitizers and deodorizing body spray and travel body wash in Ocean, Noir, & Twilight Woods. Here's the pic of the Ocean

Now, we are planning on sending out our SDT's within the next week or so but seeing that finals are coming up in school, I decided to knock our invites out while I had some downtime. This afternoon I went to Michael's and purchased stuff to make card pockets. We purchased our stationary a while back for the invites, and I printed them out last night. I have not yet "stuffed" them with the info we will be placing inside, but I did get the invites in and the outside done. Here's what they look like for the time being (I will probably do something else to them after I've had some time to look at them :lmao: )

Hi everyone!! It has been almost 3 months since I have updated.... crazy!! With finals and the holidays, I just didn't have much time to get on here.
I spent Christmas in NJ with mine and DF's family. Ate too much, got snowed in, went into NYC, and saw a NJ Devils game. All in all, it was a great December and a wonderful end to 2010. Then came 2011... wedding year!! It's like I woke up and realized... "WOW... this is the year!" In just a few short months, I will be walking down the aisle at SBP, so I better get a move on with these wedding plans!!
I was informed by Davids Bridal that one of our wedding colors, pistachio, was discontinued, and my MOH had not yet purchased her dress. So after a few trips to Davids, not finding any other color that would coordinate well, for me, with the clover, we decided we would just start from scratch again. In a way, it was a good move. All of my girls now have their dresses, and things are starting to fall into place. Since I already did our invitations (representing the dark and light greens), I am stuck with keeping them. everything else is being altered around the colors, Pool & Truffle.
Here is my MOH, Katie, in her Truffle dress with a pool sash. (I've blocked her face bc she will prob think she looks a mess and hate me for sharing with the DIS Boards world :) ) She is also VERY petite, and was able to fit into a Jr. size dress... YAY to saving money for us starving college students
http://i984.photobucket.com/albums/ae323/jerziegirl520/2010-12-29173417-1.gif
Next are my beautiful Bridesmaids! I do not have a picture of my niece in her dress, since I purchased and haven't shipped yet, but her and my pretty lady, Nikki, will be wearing the same dress.
http://i984.photobucket.com/albums/ae323/jerziegirl520/2010-12-28134526-1.jpg
I also had to adjust our orders at Mens Warehouse, and we have the BM in Truffle, and the GM in Pool. We are currently stuck with what DF will wear!!! :confused3 We originally had planned to just have them all wearing khaki pants, white dress shirts, and the vests and ties from MW. I am slowly inching towards doing the suit/tux route. Any ideas/recommendations would be greatly appreciated!!
I finally booked hair & make up with Beaute Speciale for the wedding day and our park shoots. Ana was very helpful and attentive, and I cannot wait to meet her staff.
I am also hoping (fingers crossed!!) to be able to get Randy for photos. I will be calling him in the next week or so to check availability. I had spoken to him a few months back, but with the holidays and everyday life, we couldn't really afford to make the deposit at that exact time. I really love his pictures, and they seem well worth the cost.
Today, I also booked our dog and 3 cats at Best Friends Kennel! The woman I spoke to was wonderful, and their website got me so excited!! Bedtime stories for my pooch, and salmon on a ritz for my kitties?? I was sold!!
Well, that's all for now!!!

Love the dresses!
We are going the suit route. It's not soooo much more than renting, and then he can have something after the wedding. The problem we are having is agreeing on the color of it...haha!

So... Today we booked Randy!!! I am so excited and have a feeling that this is going to be one of the best choices we've made in regards to wedding "extras". I am all about pictures, they last forever!
We decided to go the tux route for the guys. DF and his guys will be wearing the Calvin Klein shadow pin stripe in black, DF in Watermelon, and the guys in Oasis, from MW.
I need to speak to Rosie again to change our flowers, but I'm hoping for white roses with fuchsia colored Mickey crystals, with the ribbon incorporating the blue & brown for my bouquet, and fuchsia roses with brown and blue ribbon for my MOH and Bridesmaids. I've also fallen in love with the trend of having colored shoes... I'm thinking the watermelon/fuchsia color? eekk!!! So much to think about!!!
I go for my alterations on March 3rd... hoping I can drop a few lbs by so fingers crossed!!

I thought I would come check out your PJ after getting your PM. I love your dress, the details on the top are beautiful and the full skirt is great. I love the vintage tea pots for the reception too.
Also, you will love Randy :goodvibes We were so happy with his work. In fact, when we go down to Disney in 2 weeks for our anniversary, we're having him take some family/anniversary pictures.
Your fitting is on my 3rd anniversary, so I wish you luck for being just the right size you want to be that day :wizard:
I just sent over the files for you too :thumbsup2

So, I have been stressing for months about the ladies in my bridal party. My MOH and one of my BM's were supposed to fly down together, and stay in the same room to help save some money (we all danced together as kids). On Friday night, I got up the nerve to email both of them asking what was going on. They were the only 2 who had not booked ANYTHING!! I wanted to let them know that flights were starting to go up and that things needed to be done as soon as possible. Well, later that night, my MOH emailed saying things were still on and that she would book as soon as possible. My BM emailed saying that she was working on it and wanted to give me a positive answer and to please be patient with her.
Then today happens. My MOH texted me asking if she could call because she needed to talk to me. Turns out, she was going to borrow the money from her dad, and have some of it count towards her graduation gift (she graduates 5/13, wedding is 5/16). Her father changed his mind, and decided against it. So, I've not only lost my MOH, but also my 2nd BM (since they were splitting the costs).
Sorry for the rant. My mother is currently overseas, and this would be a lot easier if she were here to help me deal with it, but I'm doing the next best thing and asking the other DIS brides. Have you ever gone through anything like this? What should I do? How do I go about asking someone else to stand up for me so close to the wedding without making them feel like they were 2nd choice?? I guess I always knew that this was a possibility, but I really thought that my best friends would come through for me.

I hadn't had to deal with anything like this- but I am sure whoever you ask will understand the situation, and hopefully won't feel like a "second" choice
I will say I think it is kind of cruddy of your friends to bail out at the last minute- but at least it happened before it was too late to find replacements....
Hope everything works out for you!

So, my last post was about losing my MOH and one Bridesmaid. Well, with all my stressing, things have found a way to work themselves out. Of course I was upset when my best friends decided that traveling to disney was just not doable financially, but after allowing myself to chill out for a bit, I realized that maybe this was for the best. We were uneven with our bridal party to begin with, so losing one BM turns out to work better. I was also able to get up the nerve to ask a friend who lives nearby if she would mind standing up for me since obviously I had chosen the wrong girls in the beginning. She was thrilled and said she would be honored to be my MOH. Whoo!!!
Well, I went for my alterations on Thurs (3/4), and brought along Parker (my new MOH). she is getting married in April, and we both had our fittings. With my mom still over seas, it was nice to have someone to share that experience with. I'm not sure how I did it, but I managed to get away with only needing my neckline picked up on my gown. I bought my dress almost 2 years ago, and my weight fluctuates so much that I was not sure if I would even be able to get it altered if I had grown above 2 sizes. I also had the dress I had purchased for dinner fitted ( I refuse to wear my gown when there will be any chance of spills... I am not paying $1400 for MK & EPCOT shoots with the chance of a dirty dress ;) ) I was not so lucky with that dress. In order to reduce the prices of the needed alterations, I had them convert the back into a corset. I do not have a picture of this dress, but will make sure I post it when I pick it up on 4/20.
hmm, that was a novel and I haven't even gotten to the good stuff!! I have been doing a lot of our DIY stuff, invites, welcome folders, etc. I have been juggling everything with full time school work, so this weekend I finally decided to finish some things I hadn't gotten to, and added some more to things that aren't quite finished. And now, the pictures......
Fisrt up... Invites!! I made them myself (I had originally made different ones, but once our colors changed, so did they) First is the front with the Vellum I did, 2nd is the inside, once the vellum comes off
http://i984.photobucket.com/albums/ae323/jerziegirl520/th_2011-02-24175803-1.jpg (http://s984.photobucket.com/albums/ae323/jerziegirl520/?action=view¤t=2011-02-24175803-1.jpg) http://i984.photobucket.com/albums/ae323/jerziegirl520/th_2011-02-24175828-1.jpg (http://s984.photobucket.com/albums/ae323/jerziegirl520/?action=view¤t=2011-02-24175828-1.jpg)
Next up, are some welcome bags. I ordered them from Oriental Trading, something like $15 a dozen. I used some Puffy Paint to customize them, but still have some work to do. First pic is just all the bags stacked up so you can see the colors (pink, yellow, green, blue, orange & purple)

To put into the welcome bags, so far I have travel sets from B&BW with body spray, body wash, lotion and hand saniz for the girls and the men's signature spray and body wash. I also got the sanitizer holder with the loop to hook onto your purse or whatnot. Here is the big box with all the B&BW stuff

I have also picked up little mani kits for the girls, travel size nail clippers for the guys, advil packets, loofas, shout wipe packets, kleenex packets, and a bunch of stuff for parkers little one (he is 2,got some wipes, disposable bowls and sippie cups, J&J baby shampoo, powder, lotion, body wash, crayons, mini Pooh figurines from the dollar store, those "magic towels" that open up in the bath). I don't have pictures of all these things since they are currently in numerous bags all around my house, but you can bet there will be lots of pictures while I'm putting them together in Disney :cool1:
Now the folders. I still need some more ideas for stuff to put in, but here we go.

I also snagged some drinking around the world cards from another bride, and altered a few for the under 21 crowd
http://i984.photobucket.com/albums/ae323/jerziegirl520/th_2011-03-06143752.jpg (http://s984.photobucket.com/albums/ae323/jerziegirl520/?action=view¤t=2011-03-06143752.jpg)http://i984.photobucket.com/albums/ae323/jerziegirl520/th_2011-03-06143828.jpg (http://s984.photobucket.com/albums/ae323/jerziegirl520/?action=view¤t=2011-03-06143828.jpg)
I also got some ideas from Boston Bride (Not sure what her exact name is). I loved her idea with the door hangers and window clings, so I made some up. here is just one hanger ( they pretty much say different things... moms says "We're here for our daughters fairytale wedding"... you get the idea)
http://i984.photobucket.com/albums/ae323/jerziegirl520/th_2011-03-06143958.jpg (http://s984.photobucket.com/albums/ae323/jerziegirl520/?action=view¤t=2011-03-06143958.jpg)
I can't get a good picture of the clings with the backing on them, but they are the silhouettes of Mickey and Minnie kissing, and again, they all say different things. My favorite is the one I did for my brother that says "My little sister will become a Mrs. in Walt Disney World!"
ahhh, so much stuff!!! Anyways, I hope everyone likes what I have come up with, and also the stuff that I have gotten from other brides. I tried to tweak everything so that I didn't feel like I was plagiarizing but for anyone whose ideas I have copied, thank you so much!!!

Slders, etc. I have been juggling everything with full time school work, so this weekend I finally decided to finish some things I hadn't gotten to, and added some more to things that aren't quite finished. And now, the pictures......
Some of the contents I snagged from some other DIS Brides... Shout out to Figment aka Vanessa!!
Did you Know?

I completely missed your post last month since you posted it while we were at WDW for our anniversary. I am so happy you were able to use some of the things I sent over. So many previous brides had helped me, so I am always happy to pass along whatever I can to the next set of brides. Everything turned out great! I think your guests will love the welcome bags and all the goodies plus all the great info in the folders.
I am also so glad that everything worked out with your bridal party. I lost a bridesmaid and a bridal attendant (male cousin who was going to stand up on my side) and in the end we found 2 people to replace them who were amazing and ended up filling a gap that I thought could never be filled. Sometimes the replacements do end up being the perfect fit in the end :goodvibes
I can't believe you are getting so close to your big day :yay:

soo.... I know it is bound to change (at least I HOPE it does), but accuweather is currently predicting rain not only on the day of our wedding, but EVERY SINGLE DAY OF OUR TRIP!!!!! grrr!!!! I will be so upset if our location is moved due to rain. I have seen a few pictures of the ballroom at the BW and I have to say... I am not impressed!! The carpet looks hideous and it's really starting to bum me out :sad1::sad1: DF says not to worry, and that it will change, planner is telling me not to stress, and parents are telling me that it will be beautiful no matter what.
anyways, sorry for the rant. just needed to get my frustration/fear off my chest. Send some pixie dust my way for a bright and sunny wedding day!! Only 10 more days to go!
