I'm sorry if this has been discussed, I couldn't seem to find anything when I searched. Generally, is it a good idea to purchase the additional replacement plan for new lenses? I am getting ready to order through B&H and they offer a plan, should something happen to it, that seems reasonably priced through their store. Good idea to buy? Thanks in advance! :)

These plans are like extended warranties. I never buy one unless I know I'll use it. For a lens, I don't ever think I'll need one, but you'll have to make that determination. I do have the extended service on my Olympus 1030SW camera because it's broken twice in the 1 year warranty period and I know I'll need it repaired a few more times.

In all of my years, I've only had problems with two of my lenses. Unless they're real cheap, I wouldn't bother. Like they say, there's a good reason that they sell those products so hard... they make good money on them. We only buy extended warranties on bigger ticket, expensive to repair items like our plasma wide screen TV.
