Hey everyone! :goodvibes
A Little About Us
DF and I got engaged in late May 2010. I'm a soon-to-be patent attorney (fingers crossed that I passed the Bar!) who works for a virtual law firm based in Savannah. So I work from a home office and absolutely love it! DF works for the Geek Squad and plays hockey.

The Proposal
We met in November 2009 and were only dating 6 months when he proposed in May. I knew he was the one I was going to marry, but I didn't anticipate his proposing until after the Bar exam in July and my brother's wedding in August. When I went away on a work trip in May DF used the opportunity to go ring shopping. He was planning on waiting until our birthdays in July, but he is like a little kid and just couldn't wait. He proposed 2 days after I came home. I was truly surprised! I started crying and our Chihuahua started licking my tears. We put the ring on the wrong hand and sent pics to all our family. :upsidedow

Wedding Plans
We knew we wanted a destination wedding, but went back and forth on the location for a while. Disney was always in the back of my mind, but I thought it would be way to pricey for our budget. After getting some proposals from beach resorts, we quickly realized Disney was actually more affordable. Long story short, we are now set on having a Wishes Wedding!
We started putting together our list of guests thinking we were looking at 50 people, but after getting the lists from our family, our little wedding has quickly grown to 100!
We are leaning towards a date in October 2011 now. There are a lot of birthdays and other anniversaries to work around, but hopefully we can find something that works. I like the idea of 11.11.11, but I’m concerned there will be a lot of other weddings on that day and getting good outside vendors will be hard. The weather is cooler in November, but the sun sets around 5:30 so there will be no time to take photos after a 5PM ceremony. Decisions, decisions, decisions!
We made our first phone call to Disney today and are waiting to talk to a consultant. What questions do I need to ask? I feel so out of my comfort zone!
I am working on the "will you be my BM cards" and then it is time to go dress shopping! Wow, there is so much to do!!

Congratz on your engagement. I thought it was soo cute how your dog was licking your tears..awww:cutie: I think you should go with November but that's just me because I'm a November bride.:rotfl: jk. I know it can be hard to pick a date. It took us a while to decide and even now sometimes I wonder if we should change the date. I'm sure that whichever date you pick will be perfect for your magical day. :lovestruc Looking forward to reading more.
P.S. :shamrock: Best of luck with the Bar!

"Will You Be My Bridesmaid" Cards
I decided to test my creativity and make my own "will you be my bridesmaid" cards. I must admit, I am a little excited about how well they turned out! :cool1:
I am waiting for some t-shirts that I ordered to come in, then it is time to set up lunch dates with everyone!

I finished talking with Stacey Meacham at Disney and I feel so much better. I think we are going with October 24, 2011 at the Wedding Pavilion with a reception at the Atlantic Dance Hall!!
We are thinking about taking a trip to check out the locations before we sign the contract. Did anyone else do a site visit?

Joining in here. Congratulations, I love your story. I was laughing about the dog licking your tears and the ring on the wrong hand sending pictures to the family. That sounds like something I would do.:rotfl:
I love the cards for your bridesmaids.:cutie:

We just came back from taking his dad to Disney for the first time, we added a site visit on the last day we were there. You will love the wedding pavilion, pictures do not do it justice!! ADH was the only other location we looked at, she explained how the guests would enter and how we would enter, how the tables can be set up, etc. It was just reassuring to see the places in person. I would say if you can make a quick trip down there I would. She did say that they only do site visits Monday - Friday HTH :goodvibes

I passed the Bar on Friday, so we are officially good to go for our wedding in October!! :cool1:
I booked Randy Chapman for our photos and Stan at STVS for our video this weekend. I love Stan's stylized edits for the video! I think both their styles will fit in really well with our families.
We are going to Disney this weekend for a site visit and to take some engagement photos - I can't wait!!
Next up... I have heard some horror stories about the Disney Facebook app, so I think I am going to design my own website through weddingwindow.com

I had to peek in on your PJ because we're renewing our vows 2 days after you get married next year. October is a beautiful time for a wedding!!
And your story is so similar to ours ... we also met in November and were engaged the following May! (We actually married the following October, and next year will be our 20th anniversary.) And my dh is a tech guy too ... he's the North American tech manager for his company! I'm not a lawyer, but wanted to be one and interned at a law firm before realizing it wasn't for me, LOL! Congratulations on passing the bar!! :thumbsup2
Your plans sound like they're coming along nicely, and I'll definitely be following along! :goodvibes

We had our site visit earlier this week and couldn't be more excited about our plans! I am completely set on the wedding pavilion - photos don't capture the beauty of it though! My guests are going to be speechless

We are having our reception at the Atlantic Dance Hall. I think it will fit our party perfectly! We can have a formal sit-down dinner at ADH now too!! I love the balcony and the built-in bar.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/IMG_0633.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/IMG_0698.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/IMG_0694.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/IMG_0700.jpg
I think we want to have the curtain open. They were setting up for something while we were there, but you can see the back of the stage in this photo.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/IMG_0688.jpg
We can also use the wooden chairs at no cost, so we will save on covers :thumbsup2 Our colors are dark red, black and silver. They won't match exactly but I don't think people will really care.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/IMG_0692.jpg
Plus having Jellyrolls right next door is perfect for going out after the reception. We are having a 5 PM ceremony followed by a cocktail hour and reception. Almost all of our guests will want to go out afterwards, so I think we are only going to have the buses for the first 5 hours instead of through the entire reception.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/IMG_0635.jpg
We had dinner at O'hanas and think it will be perfect for our rehearsal dinner. It is all-you-can-eat with a fun atmosphere. They even said our wedding party can do the coconut race!
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/IMG_0646.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/IMG_0654.jpg
We are only having the wedding party at the dinner and then everyone will join us for a welcome reception at Sago Cay Pointe for the Wishes Fireworks around 8 pm the day before the wedding. We are going to have a cash bar, but I am still trying to decide what we want for food. Half of the people will have just come from O'hanas, so I don't image they will be very hungry. I am leaning towards having a chocolate fountain and a few other deserts. They said I didn't have to do a per person amount of food, even though they recommend it. I guess we will think on this one for a while.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/IMG_0708.jpg
We were also able to get the Boardwalk Inn as our deluxe resort at 50% off and Coronado Springs as our moderate resort at 35% off!! :woohoo: We are going to have Pop Century as of value resort (but it's really not my favorite).
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/IMG_0640.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/IMG_0580.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/IMG_0568.jpg

I just spoke with Stacey Meacham at Disney and she confirmed ADH can now do a sit-down plated meal. It is made at the GF, so some options are may be more limited since it has to travel. But ADH can definitely do a formal meal now. This is a very recent change, but she didn't say what date it took effect on.
Hope this helps!

I found this Mickey-shaped magazine holder on eBay - I think I may use it as the card holder or petal holder at the ceremony. I'm not sure yet, but I'm sure it will come in handy! I also found the top hat with ears for DF. His head is too big for the beanie hats!

We have been assigned our wedding planner, Maxine Pallakis. We had a conference call yesterday and she seems really nice! We even scheduled our planning session for April 12th! We are all booked and ready for another Disney vacation. :woohoo: I am thinking about booking a sweetheart dinner while we are there. Is it worth the money?
She has some great ideas so I am feeling more at ease. :goodvibes I think the biggest things DF and I can't agree on right now are the cake and what to do with kids at the wedding. I want a formal black tie wedding, which I don't think goes well with kids. But our families are making our wedding part of their vacations, so I know there are at least 6 kids. I don't feel right asking them to pay for babysitters on top of the travel expense, etc. Maxine suggested having a kid party upstairs at ADH with a TV and games. I'm leaning towards that right now. She is going to check to see whether the Boardwalk has a kid's club (I have read different things in different places), which is not a bad idea either. This is just something I didn't originally budget for, but I image there will be a lot of those type things.
On a totally separate note, we received our first welcome bag favors in the mail today -- koozies! They are perfect for all our pre-wedding activities! I totally love them!! :cool1:

And your koozies are very cute! :thumbsup2

We got our first Christmas present from our family in the mail yesterday -- our guest book! It's exactly what I wanted -- a slight variation on a traditional guestbook. :cloud9:
We are going to have someone (yet to be decided) pass the pages and markers out when the guests are seated for dinner before we are announced at the reception. That should give them a few minutes to get creative!!
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/Guestbook4.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/Guestbook5.jpg
There are fun pages for DF and I to fill out too. Even a place for us to write a letter to one another before the ceremony :)

We got our beverage napkins in yesterday too!
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/Napkins.jpg
On another note, we signed our contract with Rev. Jack Day. He seems like such a sweet man! I talked to him about piecing together parts for several different ceremonies that I liked. We want something that is non-denomination (our families are across the board on religions), but with a little bit of religion mixed in. I have a feeling that putting this together is going to be something I put off for a while!

I decided it was finally time to go wedding dress shopping. For some reason, this is the one thing I am least excited about. I just get so nervous about making the right decision!

The tear packets were really easy to make! I had the small rectangular labels (1.25” x 2.5”) made on myownlabels.com. Then I found some 7/8” ribbon and some #3 glassine envelopes (2.5” x 4.5”) on eBay.
I got a package of tissue packs at Walmart and put 2 tissues in each envelope. Then I secured each envelope with a little piece of double-stick tape.
I cut the ribbon to 7” strips and used double stick tape to secure the ends to the front envelope. The labels covered any space between the ends of the ribbon, so everything doesn’t have to line up perfectly! It was pretty easy and only took about an hour to make 45 of them.
I had the koozies and napkins made by a non-wedding vendor (PrintGlobe, Inc.) and saved a ton! I have found companies that make corporate promotional items to be much easier to work with and less expensive than the wedding vendors! Plus they have great sales on stuff.

I made a couple of appointments to go dress shopping this weekend. My MOH is back in town, so hopefully I will find something perfect! I already found the perfect shoes and jewelry, so hopefully that will direct me a little bit. I'll post picks once they come in. :) I am still leaning towards dress #1 above, so we will be going back to that store so she can give me her opinion on it. It's hard with my mom living so far away! I would really love to share this experience with her! We were able to go shopping once this summer in New York, but still, it would be nice to have her around now.
On another note, we got our STD cards in this morning and I couldn't be more excited! They are exactly what I had in mind!! :cool1: I wanted something a little formal, but that gave a lot of information so people will start their planning -- these are perfect! :goodvibes
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/cd18c9ee.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/c9ff0f71.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/19fb6b19.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/fa67623c.jpg
Then I elaborated the information in our first newsletter. I "borrowed" a lot of information from everyone else's newsletters and tweeked it to fit what I needed. We are having them printed right now -- I found 11x17" brochure paper on HP's website for half off and the printer is giving us a great deal. The letter-size pages will be printed side-by-side and front-and-back so in the end it will be 2 sheets that we fold like a newspaper. I'm not sure if that makes sense (I'm pretty sure the printer understood me, but I don't think DF got it) -- I'll take a pic when we get them back

I was planning on sending the newsletter as is, but DF thinks people won't realize what it is and will just throw it away with other junk mail. So he wants to send it in envelopes. I can see his point, but then I don't feel like it is much of a "newsletter."
Hope everyone had a great new year! I can't believe I am getting married this year!!! :dance3:

Nichole, everything is coming together so great! I love the e-pic's they turned out beautiful, as did your STD's and Newsletter. I think you did an especially great job on the Newsletter and I might have to borrow some of your ideas when I do my own! (If you don't mind!)
Borrow away! That is the greatest thing about these boards!! :goodvibes

We were snowed-in here in Atlanta all last week, so I wasn't able to get most of the stuff done I was planning on. DF travels for work and I work from home, so we were stuck here together for way to long! Oh well, we all survived, but I could have killed him a few times. :headache:
We didn't have mail service all week, so we haven't gotten our postage for the save-the-dates yet. We both had yesterday off so we were able to pick up the newsletters at the printer finally. I am folding all of them now, so hopefully I will be done tonight.
Before the snow I purchased my wedding dress! :bride: My MOH and I went to a few more stores, but my mind kept going back to a dress I tried on last time I went shopping, so I went with that one! These pics are not the greatest, but you get the idea :)

I found these shoes and jewelry. One of by bridesmaids offered to let me use her rather expensive veil as my "something borrowed". I am still looking for some simple drop earrings to finish it off.

I got a frantic call from my mother on Wednesday evening. As soon as I picked up the phone, I knew something was really wrong -- my horse, Uno, was colicing and it was getting really bad. I started riding horses and competing when I was really young and bought my first horse, Uno, in the 80's. I knew he wouldn't live forever, but it still was something you just don't expect to happen any time soon.
He was my best friend growing up and I needed to say goodbye. So I started packing and decided to make the 15 hour drive to northern Michigan. DF didn't even hesitate, there was no way he was going to leave me alone at a time like that. He dropped everything and we loaded the dogs in the car and set off at 9 pm.
I knew I wouldn't make it in time to see him alive one more time, but I needed closure and I needed to be with my mom through this. DF is the most understanding and wonderful guy. He didn't ask any questions or try to talk me out of it. Times like this make me realize just how lucky I am to have someone so wonderful to spend the rest of my life with!
We got to northern Michigan around noon the following day. He stood with us in below zero weather while we buried him and put his arms around my mother when she broke down. He held us close while we both cried into his chest. I love him so much and just had to share with everyone.

Things are starting to get back to normal at home. While we were gone, our aisle runner arrived! I had made a the Custom Aisle Boutique for a fraction of the price other places were estimating! :cool1: It is hand painted and the runner itself is really great quality. The owner, Flo, was great to work with too - I would highly recommend her to anyone!

Our postage for the save-the-dates and newsletters also came in.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/c39a4678.jpg
I was able to get all the newsletters folded and ready to send before we left, so now everything is ready to be sent out (finally)!

I am really happy with how the newsletters turned out! Hopefully these will help with everyone's questions and get them to pre-rsvp so we have an idea of how many family members will be coming. It is really hard to guess how many will come - whenever we are sure someone won't come, we hear that they are! Right now we only have room for family and our wedding party. I guess it is a little bit of a sore subject since I have a really small family, but a ton of friends. All of our friends assume they are coming, even though we haven't said anything to them about the wedding! We are paying for the wedding our selves and can't afford more than 60 people at the reception. Oh well, I guess I just needed to rant a little. I know it will all work out in the end!

Your dress and Save the Dates look great! Is that Bridals by Lori? I think I spot Monty in the background ;)
The newsletters look great printed as well. And I feel you on paying for the wedding yourself and having to limit the guestlist. We really can't accommodate more than 50 and I know friends will be disappointed when they don't get an invite.

Thanks! I know it will all work out in the end -- and all my friends who have been married say the guest list is the worst thing! I'm hoping the distance and our getting married on a Monday will detour some people who we are not really close to so we can invite more friends. In the end I guess all that really matters is being there with DF and starting the rest of our lives together.
And yes it is Bridals by Lori! I actually haven't seen the show yet (I'm hoping to catch some re-runs sometimes. I live about a mile and a half from the store. So I drove by it all the time! They were wonderful to work with though!

Our guests are receiving the save-the-dates/newsletters and actually reading them! :woohoo: They are even starting to pre-RSVP on our website! We got our first "no" and for some reason I was really excited! I was so worried that all our family would come and I wouldn't be able to invite any friends! After a couple panic attacks, everything is starting to work out!
I have been working on a couple DIY projects again. I want something very classy for our escort cards, but something people haven't seen a lot. I came across this photo on a Martha Stewart website I think. I was able to get the small votive candles on Amazon for a great price and the ribbon on super sale after Christmas! Once we get our final RSVP list I think they should be pretty easy to make -- just print out the names and numbers on vellum paper and put ribbon around it.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/b22e5ac6.jpg
After getting that idea, I decided to do the table numbers using larger votive candle holders. We got some great deals at Hobby Lobby right after Christmas, so I was able to get the tall votive candle holders for our table numbers at 75% off and the candles were only $1 each! I came up with a pretty basic design that goes with our invitations/programs/menus/etc. I think they will look great on the tables!

I am still considering adding a couple rhinestones to the scroll design for a little more bling. Meanwhile, I have a few more to make then on to the next project!

First off I just want to say how sorry I am for your loss. I can't imagine how hard it is to lose the best friend you grew up with. Your fiance sound like a great guy to realize how much Uno meant to you and how much you needed him. I know some wouldn't understand.
I saw this on a horse forum I often frequent and I thought it might make you smile. It's called "It's Just a Horse"
IT'S JUST A HORSE!
From time to time, people tell me, "lighten up, it's just a horse". Or,” that’s a lot of money for just a horse". They don't understand the distance traveled, the time spent, or the costs involved for "just a horse." Some of my proudest moments have come about with "just a horse." Many hours have passed and my only company was "just a horse," but I did not once feel slighted. Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by "just a horse," and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of "just a horse" gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day. If you, too, think it's "just a horse," then you will probably understand phrases like "just a friend," "just a sunrise," or "just a promise."
"Just a horse" brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy. "Just a horse" brings out the compassion and patience that make me a better person. Because of "just a horse" I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future. So for me and folks like me, it's not "just a horse" but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment. "Just a horse" brings out what's good in me and diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day. I hope that someday they can understand that it's not "just a horse" but the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being "just a woman" or "just a man." So the next time you hear the phrase "just a horse" just smile, because they "just" don't understand.

That quote is absolutely perfect! It brought tears to my eyes -- it's right on. A lot of people have a hard time understanding that he wasn't "just a horse" to my mother and I. I spent more time with him growing up than any one of my friends. He was a baby when I got him and we pretty much grew up together. Thank you so much for sharing

I finished the table number candles and have been working on the format for our invitations, programs and the ceremony. Putting the format and design I have in mind on paper is harder than I thought it would be - good thing I started early!
Meanwhile, we have gotten in a few more items that I ordered :goodvibes
I created an engagement album using Picaboo. It has a leather cover and thick pages that lay flat. I plan on using this program to create our wedding albums.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/596dc329.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/2d967b17.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/7e0151ed.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/012fb810.jpg
We also got this large signature frame. The matting is a thin metal that people sign. You can't really tell from the photo, but it is engraved with our names and wedding date. Our cat, Fuzz, wanted to get in these photos too :)
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/6afe8e38.jpg
We found engraved flasks at an online wholesaler. I was a little leery, since they were around $6 each engraved, but they turned out great!
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/4b217c5d.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/66f0e2f4.jpg
We got one for each of the bridesmaids, groomsmen and ushers -- and one for each of us! DF ordered crown bags for the guys. I think he is going to get little bottles of their favorite alcohol and some other little thing to put in the bags with the flasks.
I ordered these little jewelry boxes from Things Remembered right after Christmas for around $5 each for the girls.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/d695daa3.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/384186e6.jpg
I don't think I am going to get them engraved. Instead, I am looking at getting personalized tote bags for everyone. I also got gifts for our families at 50% off. For DF's family we got the photo family trees.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/0151da16.jpg
And for mine I got wooden photo boxes.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/af4b0e6a.jpg
We also got a Cinderella's carriage musical globe for the flower girls.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/7d9cef44.jpg
I signed up for the Things Remembered reward program when I ordered everything. We already have a 20% off and a $10 coupon, so I think I am going to engrave the trees and boxes with the respective family names.
We have started looking at bridesmaid dresses too. Right now I am thinking about this one by Belsoie (in black). The girls who live around Atlanta are going to go try it on with me next weekend. My MOH and I already tried it on, so hopefully the girls will like it too!
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/2e2a2825.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/6a45c48f.jpg
I am also looking at this dress for the 2 flower girls.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/89815b31.jpg
I like this one for my mom, but it's a little pricey. Hopefully I can find something similar for a more reasonable price! My mom never spends any money on herself, so I really want her to feel beautiful at my wedding princess:
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/39b37f1d.jpg
I am hoping to have a draft of our ceremony done this weekend. :surfweb: I am aiming for something that is around 30 minutes. I guess Rev. Jack can help me with estimating how long it will take and suggesting what to add/take out.

Thanks! I love the quality of the photo album. Its a Madison album by Picaboo, so the cover is leather on the back and spine and the front is about 1/4 inch thick. The pages are 110 lb cardstock with a little shine to them.
DF found the flasks at CKB Products (http://www.ckbproducts.com/6oz-custom-engraved-flask-p-3527.html). They are the 6 oz custom engraved stainless steel flasks. I listed the names I wanted engraved during check out and asked that they use an all-Caps font, like Engravers MT.

We are gathered here today to share one of the happiest moments in the lives of Nichole and DF, as they are about to become husband and wife. They are delighted you have chosen to share this very special time in their lives.
GIVING IN MARRIAGE
May I ask who adds their blessing to this beautiful wedding by presenting me to be married to DF?
Dad stands and says: Her mother and I
PRAYER
True marriage is more than joining the bond of marriage of two persons. It is the uniting of two souls already attuned to one another. We are here to observe the beginning of a new relationship between me and DF, these two friends who are already one in spirit. Let us pray.
Heavenly Father, thank you for allowing us the opportunity to be present in a surrounding . . . where dreams come true . . . Where couples unite in marriage and where others become closer friends . . . and, where others fall in love all over again. Thank you for me and DF as they begin their journey through life together. Please walk with them each step of the way . . . and give them the faith, and the wisdom, to face whatever the future may hold . . . In your name we pray, Amen.
And so, we have gathered in the presence of God, family and friends to share with me and DF a relationship, which embodies all the warm and precious values, which grow out of human companionship and love. My dear friends enter it reverently, discreetly, joyfully and with the approval of God.
READING: I CORINTHIANS 13
If marriage is to last a lifetime, it must be built upon love. In the 13th Chapter of I Corinthians, the Apostle Paul gives a beautiful description of the type of love it takes to build a happy home.
I may be able to speak the language of men, but if I have no love, my speech is no more than a noisy gong or a clanging bell.
Love is patient and kind; it is not jealous or conceited or proud; Love is not ill mannered or selfish, love is not happy with evil, but is happy with truth. Love never gives up; and its faith, hope and patience never fails. Love is eternal ... meanwhile, these three remain: Faith, Hope, and Love: and the greatest of these is Love.
CHARGE
You, DF, and you, Nichole, have come to this hour signifying your desire to be united in marriage. You are to enter this relationship with mutual love: a mutual love for each other and a mutual love for God. It is therefore a decision, which is not to be entered into lightly but rather undertaken with great consideration, prayer and respect for both the other person and oneself.
Marriage symbolizes the intimate sharing of two lives, yet this marriage must not diminish but enhance each partner.
Deep knowledge of each other is not something that can be achieved in a specific time period. This wonderful knowledge of another person grows out of really caring for the other so much that the one wants to understand as completely as possible what the other is feeling.
DECLARATION OF INTENT
Do you, DF, knowing of this woman’s love for you and returning it, realizing her strengths and learning from them, recognizing her weaknesses and accepting them, take Nichole, to be your lawfully wedded wife?
[I]I do
Do you, Nichole, knowing of this man’s love for you and returning it, realizing his strengths and learning from them, recognizing his weaknesses and accepting them, take DF, to be your lawfully wedded husband?
I do
VOWS
You are now taking into your care and keeping the happiness of the one person in all the world whom you love best. You are adding to your life not only the affection of each other, but also the companionship and blessing of a deep trust as well. You are agreeing to share strength, responsibilities, and love.
Nichole and DF, I ask you now to face each other and join hands.
DF, please repeat after me:
"All that I am and all that I have, / All that I've been and all that I shall be, / I share with you from this day forward. / I promise to love you / and stand beside you, / in the only way I know how, / completely and for eternity."
Nichole, please repeat after me:
"All that I am and all that I have, / All that I've been and all that I shall be, / I share with you from this day forward. / I promise to love you / and stand beside you, / in the only way I know how, / completely and for eternity."
RING EXCHANGE
May I have the rings, please?
I hold in my hands beautiful rings . . . made of precious metal representing two precious lives who stand before me. These rings have no beginning, no end . . . a circle of life and a circle of love. God bless these rings. May they be given, may they be received to remind you of the vows you have made this day.
DF, will you place this ring on Nichole's finger, and repeat after me:
"With this ring, I thee wed, / and offer a symbol of all that we will share / our hopes, our dreams, and our love."
Nichole, will you place this ring on DF'S finger, and repeat after me:
"With this ring, I thee wed, / and offer a symbol of all that we will share / our hopes, our dreams, and our love."
May you always need one another, not so much to fill the emptiness as to help each other know your fullness. May you succeed in all important ways with each other, and not fail in the little graces. Find things to praise, often say, "I love you"; and take no notice of small faults. May you have happiness, and may you find it in making one another happy. May you have love, and may you find it in loving one another.
UNITY CANDLE
As love is symbolized by light, may the light of this candle remind us of the estate of unity you are now entering. May the lighting of the candle by you together, serve as a witness that your lives are no longer parallel, but are now one. May the blessing of light, be with you always, light without and light within. May the sun shine upon you and warm your heart until it glows like a great fire so that others may feel the warmth of your love for one another.
[Music: Candle on Water (#32)]
[Nichole & DF move behind alter to light unity candle & return to front]
PRAYER
Let us pray.
Eternal God, without your grace no promise is sure. Strengthen Nichole and DF with patience, kindness, gentleness, and all the other gifts you so abundantly impart, that they may fulfill the vows they have made this day. Keep them faithful to each other and to you. Fill them by your word and serve you all of their days. Amen.
PRONOUNCEMENT OF MARRIAGE
Nichole and DF, may your marriage bring you all of the exquisite excitement a marriage should bring. And may life grant you patience, tolerance and understanding.
Nichole and DF, you have pledged your lives and souls to one another in our presence; therefore, by the authority vested in me by the State of Florida, I pronounce you husband and wife.
DF, you may now kiss your beautiful bride.
INTRODUCTION OF THE NEWLYWEDS
[All stand]
Ladies and Gentlemen, with the greatest pleasure, I present to you for the first time as husband and wife, Mr. and Mrs. DF ****.

The ceremony looks great! I think things always look longer on paper than they actually are! I am a teacher and I always think things are going to take forever and then they take like 5 minutes! I think it's a good length! Not to mention, for $3,000 for the WP, you might as well spend a little time there!

I went with three of the girls to get measured for the bridesmaid dresses this past weekend only to find out that 2 of them are planning on getting pregnant in the next couple months! Needless to say the dress I picked out will not work if they are 6-7 months along and the designer doesn't make a matching maternity style :sad2: So I am back to square one with the bridesmaid dresses :headache:
Now that I had my heart set on the one dress, I can't find anything else that I really like that either has a corresponding maternity style or an empire waist.
We will have to wait until late May/June to order the dresses also. I originally wanted to order them early so I could spread out the costs to my bridesmaids. If we order in June, the final dress payment will be due in September -- which I feel is too close to the wedding.
Wow ... I guess I really needed to vent!! Thanks for reading.

I wouldn't worry about the ceremony length!
To be honest, last week I didn't hear a word Rev. Jack said. I'm glad I read the ceremony beforehand. I was too busy thinking "Oh no....there goes a boat...I hope they don't honk....hey...check out the cake table...that looks niiiice...oh, crap, I better smile or I'm going to look angry in our pictures....oh my god, is my mom CRYING again?? Can someone get her a kleenex? Wait, what did he just say? Oops, my turn to talk. Man the sky is pretty today."
Seriously. And DH and I both messed up our vows at the EXACT same point. We couldn't get through without welling up and had to pause and breathe.
That stinks about your bridesmaids. It's too bad they didn't mention that beforehand. I mean, not that their lives should be put on hold, but the dresses are important and require a lot of though, so you need to know things like that. A little consideration I suppose.

Nichole, I absolutely fell in love with your candles (saw them on another thread), and I am really thinking that I would love to do that as well. However, I have a few questions, and maybe you have already thought about this...
Are the candles going to have "real" candles in them? If so, are they going to be votives, or tea lights?
And since your guests are going to be carrying them from the placecard table to their table, are you concerned about the heat from them? I was thinking about having these as table settings (for seat placement) rather than having people carrying them to their table - my family is not the most graceful, and I'd hate to have someone get a hot-wax makeover!
And lastly, are you going to have them blow out the candles at some point, so they can take the votive holders with them? The wax will have to cool if I am using real candles, or I risk the hot-wax makeover again.
Like I said, I LOVE the candles, and if I could make it work logistically, that would be great. BTW, we're having our reception at ADH as well, and I think that room would look GREAT with extra candlelight.

I am planning on using them as escort cards. I haven't worked out all the details yet, but I figured I would try them with the smaller votive candles and with the tea light candles to see how hot they get. I'm also thinking about is not lighting them before the guests pick them up from the escort card table. I would order some personalized match boxes and either place one at each table or in a basket on the escort card table so the guests could light them. If I opt for this I will probably have a little framed note telling them to light them when they sit down. Maybe I can have the waiters do this?
I haven't talked to my planner about it yet (our planning session is in April). So Disney may want the guests to wait to light them.
I think they would work great as place cards too! But, I don't think I'm going to have place cards, only escort cards.

I knew my MOH was seriously considering it, but I figured we could just get a different dress for her if need be and it would all look good. But with two now, I need to figure something else out

I have been out of town a lot the past few weeks, so I have not been too productive with the wedding stuff lately. We did find a couple of really cute white baskets that we are going to use to hold the tears of joy packets and the programs.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/57ea9bc8.jpg
We also found this little Pluto figurine that we are going to use to take pics of our rings. I would love to have our Chihuahua Calvin as our ring bearer, but I will settle for pics with Pluto :)

We found some plain glass ornaments and intended to etch them with something like "N&D" and "10.24.11". Needless to say, this project was an epic fail! No matter how many times we tried it or how many different ways we tried it, the etching didn't appear dark enough. Oh well, can't win them all :sad2:
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/796ea1df.jpg
So now we have 40 of these really cute Disney boxes that I need to decide how to use.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/98270b40.jpg
I was able to finish the door hangers we are going to put in the welcome baskets. These were super easy and took almost no time (or expense). My kind of DIY project ;)

Sure! I ordered 4x8" pre-cut curious metallic cardstock from www.cutcardstock.com/CuriousMetallicFLATcardInvitations.aspx and got a 1.5" punch from Michaels. I created the design in PowerPoint (changing the paper and print sizes to 4x8"). I also put a little "x" on the top center where I wanted to punch out the circle. I work on a Mac so I like to print out of iPhoto so I saved the PowerPoints as photos (.jpg). I loaded all the paper in my printer to print the front and then back in to print the back. Punch the circles and cut a little slit and I was done! The whole process took about an hour.

Thanks! I think I found the ribbon on eBay. It was a little more expensive than the plain ribbon, so I decided to do a set of each :)

The weather has been getting nice lately and I have been out of town a lot, so I haven't gotten too much accomplished :sad2:
When we started researching fun things to do for our wedding weekend, we can upon this website for drinking around the world in Epcot and we instantly knew we had to do it! I figured we would get our close family and a few friends to join us, but it has quickly become one of the most popular events all our guests are excited about. As it turns out, almost everyone is going to do it!
We have been working on passports for drinking around the world for a while now, but we finally finished the first batch of them. :cool1: I am pretty excited about how they turned out!
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/a52c112f.jpg
I borrowed most of the page designs from someone on the creative boards (I think -- it's been a while though). Then I changed the order, added a map, cover page, passport info page and some directions. This is what the pages look like:
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/96809254.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/2228a719.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/1c88562d.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/0c1c4d2a.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/1ccf02f9.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/c133637f.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/7c31b20a.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/ccbcf11d.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/4b508c64.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/cd557b92.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/aa212bd4.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/b499b0e0.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/905f92a5.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/2c21eb79.jpg
My printer doesn't do a full bleed very well, so I tweaked the design size a little too. We are bringing colorful permanent markers for everyone to mark up the passports.
We also found these "halloween" shot glasses at Oriental Trading Co for $3 per dozen! There are little pumpkins and ghosts on the necklace part, but for $0.25 a piece, I think they will work great as a fun favor.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/b7b9a1fe.jpg
We want to do t-shirts with a checklist of countries on the back and something like "Nichole and DF's Drinking Team" on the front. We played around with the idea of making them ourselves with t-shirt transfers, but I am now leaning towards just having them made. This is our first attempt ... I'm not sure why it didn't dawn on us that you had to reverse the transfer before ironing, but I guess there is a learning curve :rotfl:
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/8dbb02ef.jpg
If we have them made, we were leaning towards lime green shirts with hot pink writing ... something that really stands out in the crowd. DF has taken the lead on the t-shirt project, so we'll see what he comes up with.
I think we are going to put together the shirts, passports, a bottle of water and the shot glass necklaces in little paper bags for everyone. I haven't worked out the logistics of it all yet, but it looks like everyone is staying at Coronado Springs, so hopefully getting stuff to everyone won't be that hard.
On a completely different side note, I got my garter in the mail this week!
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/82ec3238.jpg
DF is a huge University of Michigan fan and I went to Michigan State University (2 huge rivals). So he is going to laugh when he figures out I am wearing something "green" instead of something "blue" :cheer2:

LOVE the passports!!!!
Drinking all over the world is something I am planning to do, I want to go ahead and do it the night of the rehearsal dinner since I am planning on actually having a dessert party instead... I figured if I can get everyone to come to Epcot that day, I will be saving on A LOT of viewing fees. :lmao: But anyways, I hadn't thought about the passports!!!! They are really cute... and if you don't mind, please post the information on where you decide to get your shirts made (if you decide to go that route). I was considering making some myself, but thought the quality would be a little better if I got them made, figuring the cost wouldnt be too much higher. We are shopping around right now too. We started to add up the cost of doing it ourselves and we weren't saving much money -- especially when you add in ink and the many test runs we need. I think DF is going to downtown Atlanta somewhere to find a place that does family reunion shirts for cheep.

I sent a stack of photos to Maxine and to Elizabeth at Disney Floral (at least I think her name is Elizabeth - the signature in the e-mail said Elizabeth, but the e-mail address said Jennifer?!?). So hopefully everything is all set.
I really need a vacation, so this trip couldn't come at a better time! Nothing like a long weekend at Disney to make all your stress go away :goodvibes

Wow! I can’t believe our Disney vacation has come and gone already!! We had a wonderful time, but it always flies by!
We left Atlanta early Saturday morning. Now, I am NOT a morning person, so getting up before the sun is rising is not something I do often! :sad2: We were up, packed and on our way by 6:30. The drive wasn’t that bad, so we made it to Coronado Springs shortly after lunch. Our room was ready so we were able to check in without having to wait. I got a really funny look when I asked for 75 “I’m Celebrating” buttons and maps of the resort, but they found everything we asked for and had it delivered to our room while we were out.
We changed and headed to Epcot. I can’t resist any photo opportunity, but I think it starts to annoy DF after a while. I noticed as our trip goes on, I am in the photos posing with all the characters, but he somehow found a way out of it!
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/59812f84.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/494896e7.jpg http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/03c6913d.jpg
The weather was beautiful for our entire trip! Hot in the parks and by the pool, but no rain and the humidity wasn't too bad. Definitely need lots of sunscreen though!
It was DF’s first time so we did all the rides and then explored the World Showcase a little. We saw a few groups that were drinking around the world and got some great ideas on which bars/restaurants to go to. We also decided that group t-shirts are a must. The more obnoxious the color the better! :cool1:
We were exhausted, so we headed back to the resort shortly after a late dinner.
We were up early the next morning (not as early thankfully!) and headed to the Animal Kingdom. This was my first visit to the Animal Kingdom and I wasn’t disappointed!! We got there right as it was opening and headed straight to the Safari.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/f73e212e.jpg
Then we made our way through the different areas, stopping to take photos with every character we saw :)
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/c5541aa5.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/9f4c99ba.jpg
We went back to the resort and spent the later part of the afternoon at the pool. I think our guests are going to have a really good time at the pool too! There was a DJ, games, a bar and lots of people. We are going to pack a lot of alcohol for our guests so we can have a mini bar area in a couple rooms. I did notice that the resort didn’t have plastic cups, so we definitely need to bring plenty for the trip. I am also thinking about having re-usable water bottles made to put in the welcome baskets.
After the pool we got ready for dinner at Jiko. We left early since we were taking the bus. We happened to get on the last Animal Kingdom bus and the driver took us straight to the restaurant! He was very helpful and so nice! It’s the little things like this that I love about Disney! :thumbsup2
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/0c9d4fa3.jpg
It was feeding time when we got to the Animal Kingdom Lodge. We are spending our last night (our comp night) at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and I am so excited about it!
We watched the animals outside before doing a little shopping and then heading to the bar for happy hour. Dinner was amazing! I had the cheese plate for an appetizer (we both really love cheese) and it was perfect! Then of course we both had the fillet for our entre (one of our options for our platted meal at our reception). I am a big fan of the red wine reduction sauce they use, but am worried that it is a little thin and may be too runny on the plate. I had asked to try a couple different cuts of beef with different sauces at our tasting, so I was really curious to compare. We were also impressed with the size of the fillet, and wondered if we would get the same size for our reception.
DF was going to surfing lessons at Typhoon Lagoon early the next morning so we called it a night after dinner – yes another early morning for me!
So we were up and at Typhoon Lagoon before dawn the next day. At first I was really opposed to taking the surfing lessons (they were not cheep), but it was something he really, really wanted to do so I gave in.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/ec362bc0.jpg
It turned out to be pretty cool and DF now wants to do it again in October! It started with lessons on the sand about how to stand up etc.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/b6a15b33.jpg
Then they moved to the wave pool. The instructors made it look so easy, but it took everyone several tries before they were able to stand. The wave pool put out a perfect 5-6 foot wave every 90 seconds. There were 8 people I think and each person got to go over 20 times (or until they were too tired to go any more). In the end, I would say it was probably worth the money, especially for kids and people who are pretty athletic. I am pretty sure I would be worn out in no time.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/b2831410.jpg
There were some great wipe-outs. We got some great videos and photos. I think this is my favorite photo we got. :rotfl2:
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/557b2532.jpg
After surfing we went back to Coronado and had breakfast (it was only 10ish!). After DF showed and changed we meet up with his best man and family in Hollywood Studios.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/e7842e2e.jpg
It was an interesting experience being in the park with a 4 year old. We played in the “Honey I Shrunk the Kids Playground” and saw a lot of shows!
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/01468de1.jpg
It was great to see them, but I was so tired by the time dinner was over. Hollywood Studios had extended park hours for resort guests that night so we did a couple big rides over and over again for an hour or so and then headed back to the resort to pack and get ready for our planning session the next day!
Up next ... our planning session :cool1:

We had our planning session on the last day of our vacation. We were up early, packed and ready to go before 8, so we decided to use up the remainder of our quick service meals and each order a breakfast (we usually share something). Then we headed over to Francks to meet up with Maxine. The air conditioning in Francks was on the fritz, so it was freezing in there! We waited for 10 minutes or so for Maxine to get there. We looked around a little and then DF found a sofa and wanted to close his eyes for a little.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/f3d41116.jpg
Maxine came in and was so full of energy! I absolutely love her personality and think I am in great hands! She introduced herself and informed us that our planning session and tasting were going to be switched around (originally we were scheduled for a tasting session at 2), so we were heading over to the Boardwalk to have our tasting at 9:30 am! :headache: After just eating a big breakfast, this wasn’t exactly how I wanted to do things, but oh well! DF and I just looked at each other and shook our head. :sad2:
On the way to the Boardwalk, Maxine and I talked about the new building and why they would decide to squeeze anything in that space. All I can do is cross my fingers and hope nothing will happen. Worse case, we won’t be able to take photos on that side. It may change my mind on getting Cindy’s Carriage, but we will have to wait and see what happens. I don’t see us wanting to change our location even if they do break ground by October.
We had our tasting at the Flying Fish since there was a huge conference at the Boardwalk (not a singe conference room area was available!).
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/a9e46b07.jpg
We started off by picking what napkin fold we wanted. DF and I had already discussed this so we knew we wanted the menu fold. I want black charger plates so I think this fold will look best with the menus I am making.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/21cfcd76.jpg
I am jumping ahead a little bit, but while we are on the subject of table settings, I read a lot about Disney not ironing the linens, so I wanted something that wouldn’t show the wrinkles as much. We settled on pewter pintuck linens with black napkins.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/Screenshot2011-04-15at63240PM.png
The chargers and napkins are shiny. Our menus are on a white metallic paper with a black background and a dark red ribbon. Together I think they will look very classy. This is a sample I put together for the planning session, together with some of our other paper goods.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/e47110fc.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/d7731d46.jpg
We decided to have a head table for the entire wedding party and the two of us and then have 6 rounds of 8-9. This will give us some flexibility with the numbers and keep everyone on the dance floor area. Right now we have around 67 people.
We are using the existing chairs from ADH (hopefully – Maxine needs to confirm how many chairs are available to use. We may need to use a couple banquet chairs and covers for the head table, but that’s not the end of the world). I really hate chair covers, but I want to avoid having to rent 67 chairs if I can!
We met the Chef (I can’t for the life of me remember his name now!) and he sat with us during our tasting. He was so nice!! He offered suggestions and really listened to our comments. I didn’t feel like he was in a rush to get out of there or like we were a burden to him in any way. :goodvibes
Maxine and I talked about what the waiters will wear. She gave us a couple options – black pants, white shirts and yellow vests (what the server was wearing while we were there) or black tuxes or white tuxes with gold accents. Our wedding party is wearing black tuxes, so we opted for the white tuxes. Maxine said they were really cute and it would let our guests/the wedding party to stand out from the wait staff.
I don’t want to give the guests any options, so we were planning on having a duo plate with a cut of beef and something else. I am allergic to fish, but a lot of people like fish, so we played around with several different options.
We are either going to have the cheese display or the antipasto display during the cocktail hour. During the cocktail hour one of the staff members will be passing out pages to our guest book for everyone to fill out. I don’t think DF and I will make an appearance at the cocktail hour, but our wedding party will.
We are also planning on having a full bar. We need to swap a couple of things out on the basic package, so we will have to wait until we get our BEO to see what kind of magic Maxine was able to do with it. :worship:
Then once the guests are seated, we are having a Caesar salad. I originally wanted it plated table side, but DF really liked the presentation it had during our tasting.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/3cfc6977.jpg
It is kind of fancy, so I gave in on this one. I am getting ranch dressing on mine :)
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/bffe9e01.jpg
We also tried a Caprese salad. It was amazing!! Even DF, who doesn’t eat any tomatoes loved it. But, I think more of our guests would like a regular salad of some sort.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/98ca69d8.jpg
All I could do is nibble on everything to save room for the entrees! I really wish we would have skipped breakfast that morning!
Next we tried the fillet. I think the chef said it was an 8 oz fillet with camelized onions, the red wine reduction, garlic mash potatoes and steamed asparagus. So, yes, the fillet was the same size as we had a few nights ago at Jiko! Since we are having 2 different meats on the plate, we asked if we could do a 6 oz fillet instead. They said that wasn’t a problem. Temperate was medium to medium well, which will be good enough for everyone. The onions were amazing! I wasn’t sold on the mashed potatoes and the sauce. The onions were sweet and I think it made the sauce a little sweeter than it was before. And the mashed potatoes were thin, so they spread all over the plate. (I am one of those people who doesn’t mix up the different foods on my plate.)
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/360bf68e.jpg
We tried the New York Strip with a cracked pepper Merlot reduction, lobster mac and cheese (at least DF tried this) and baby carrots. The steak was huge and didn’t have a pretty presentation, but the sauce was perfect! We also decided to do steamed asparagus and baby carrots.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/134c6e35.jpg
Next we tried the herb roasted chicken breast with a black berry demi, steamed mixed veggies and a truffle/cheese risotto. I can’t remember the name of the cheese the chef said was in the risotto, but it was the best thing I think I have ever tasted!!! I’m not a huge risotto fan since they usually have mushrooms in it, but this risotto was to die for! :worship: It became an instant addition to our menu and took care of my issue with the mashed potatoes. The chicken breast was very moist and the black berry demi was perfect!
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/bf686da2.jpg
Finally we tried the slipper dissert :) We are not planning on having any dessert, other than the wedding cake, but I couldn’t resist!
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/6563e655.jpg
So picking our menu was less painful than I had originally thought it would be! The menu is:
Appetizer
International and Domestic Cheese
Served with Assorted Flatbreads and Dried Fruits
Salad
Caesar Salad with Garlic and Herb Croutons
and Shaved Asiago Cheese
Entrée
Pan Seared Filet of Beef with a
Cracked Pepper and Merlot Reduction,
Herb Marinated Breast of Chicken with a
Blackberry Demi Sauce,
Served with Truffle and Cheese Risotto,
Steamed Asparagus and Steamed Carrots
Desert
Wedding Cake
There will be a couple changes for some people ... I will have ranch instead of Caesar dressing, DF wants some special sauce on his filet and I am doing a lobster tail instead of chicken for my dad. We also asked for light sauce on everything and to have the veggies steamed a little longer so they weren't crunchy.
Maxine estimates our dinner will last approx. 45 min to an hour. During this time we will spread out the toasts. We will have the introductions once everyone is seated and then we will have our first dance. Our dads will start everything off by welcoming the guests and giving the first 2 toasts while the salads are being served. Then between the salad and entrée the MOH and BM will give their toasts. After the entrée we will have the father-daughter and then the mothers-son dances and get the party started. My brother will give his toast before the cake cutting.
The chef gave us these gifts when we finished our tasting! The whole experience was really great (even though it was at 10 in the morning!). :thumbsup2

I never thought I could talk so much about food! Up next … the remainder of our planning session and working out all the details of our wedding!
Nichole33
04-18-2011, 09:08 AM
Once we got back to Franck’s we went back to the beginning of our wedding weekend and started planning all the details.
We started with our welcome reception and the rehearsal. Our rehearsal is tentatively scheduled for 4 PM the day before our wedding. I wish I had know we could reserve our rehearsal time before this because the 3 PM slot was already reserved. :headache: The time slot could be taken by a wedding, so we are not confirmed until 30 days before. 4 PM will work out too, but it won’t leave us time too much time between the rehearsal and our 5 PM rehearsal dinner at O’hanas. I planned to have the rehearsal dinner from 5-8, so I guess we will just need to keep everyone on track during the rehearsal so we can get out of there and go to dinner!
After the rehearsal dinner we are walking back to the GF to have our welcome reception at Sago Cay. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that there was not a set-up fee! We are having chocolate fondue (which no longer comes in a chocolate fountain for sanitary reasons). Now it comes in these dispensers. Either way it works for me – can’t beat $10 a person! We are having a cash bar (and it only accepts cash, not credit cards – one more thing I need to add to my welcome letter!) and then coffee/tea/hot cocoa with all the flavored syrups. I think Maxine said the coffee and fixins was $50 for a couple gallons. I also asked for pitchers of water and the Mickey icecreams as BOC.
Another pleasant surprise, if we let the GF set up the tables using the materials they already have, there is no charge for decorations!! I love hearing the word FREE!! Maxine requested table lamps I think and other formal decorations that she knew they had.
Instead of having the Wishes music piped in we decided to have a solo violinist play during the entire event. We are also having a table where people can sign our photo frame, so we can display it at the wedding.
I told Maxine I wanted to spend some time talking about transportation. It is something I know we need, but I want it to be as affordable as we can make it. We have a big wedding party (especially when you add in parents, etc.) so she was able to think about it before we got to the planning session and had the perfect plan for us. We are chartering 1 bus and a limo (which seats 8). Then to get the wedding parties/family to photos before the ceremony we are getting one-way transport vans at $25 each (which saved a ton!). Then the bus will come back to get the wedding party and parents after it drops off the rest of the guests at ADH. Meanwhile, DF and I will take some more photos and get there by limo. It looks like all of our guests are staying at Coronado Springs or at the Boardwalk, so we can do a one-way bus to take everyone home at the end of the night. If any decides to stay at Pop we will just pay for a taxi. In the end we save a couple hundred dollars – and every little bit helps!
We were also able to charter the bus for Friday nite to take us all off property for our Stag and Hen parties. The bus will drop the girls off at one place and then take the guys off to do their own thing (apparently there is a men’s club called Rachels that she recommended – she also made a note to request a non-Disney bus for that trip :rotfl2: ).
We planned out the wedding day schedule – guys ready for pick-up by 3 and girls by 3:30. So I need to arrange to have all our hair/make-up done by 2:30. After than, we are in Maxine’s hands :) She said her goal was to make us (and our wedding party) feel like guests at the wedding. I love that!
Next we meet with Elizabeth from Disney floral. She was great! I had sent her some inspiration photos like this one.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/8a9b46bc.jpg
My bouquet will be similar to the photo on the top right, with the blood red roses and mini calla lilies. It will have crystals in it, with the stems wrapped in black ribbon and crystals down the stem. I said I wanted the entire bouquet under $300, including crystals, and she said it wouldn’t be a problem. The girls bouquets will have the blood red roses, but no calla lilies or crystals. The guys will have a single red rose and DF will have a single calla lily with 3 crystals down the stem (and a Mickey crystal in the middle – and this was his idea!). The moms will have a rose corsage, but I am waiting to see what color dress they all get to decide what color the rose will be.
We have an aisle runner that they will place and then put $200 worth of red rose petals down the aisle. We wanted to have 6 columns with our centerpieces on top, but they can’t put anything that may tip over on top of the columns any more. So we are taking the top follower part of the centerpiece on top of the columns (instead of having the candelabras). We like the look of the centerpiece in the upper left photo above. So Elizabeth is doing something with a similar texture in shades of dark red with white accents. I want each centerpiece to be under $225, including the candelabra.
We are also doing a unity candle arrangement similar to the texture of the middle photo on the left side (again in shades of dark red with white accents and a little greenery). This will double as table décor where DF and I are sitting.
The girls bouquets will be used to decorate the cake table and I will use one of them as my throw bouquet as well.
We talked about our table settings and linens. We decided to get the chocolate Mickey heads with our guests’ names written on it (I wish I had taken a photo of these!) as escort cards. We will use the table numbers I made and the votive candles as place cards.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/deb09893.jpg http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/b22e5ac6.jpg
We can only have 4 flaming candles per table at ADH, so we are going to get those flameless tealight candles to put in the votive candle placecards. So our guests will get a chocolate Mickey head to share and each will get a votive candle as a favor. They will also get welcome baskets when they check in, so I think we have the gift/favor part covered.
We went back and forth about having rose petals on the tables, but I think it may make the tables too busy. So I think I am going to take them off the BEO when we get it. We also added on some additional table décor for the front table.
We ended our meeting with Elizabeth talking about what kind of cake we wanted. DF and I spent a lot of time going back and forth about this, but we decided to go with a 3 layer cake similar to the cake in the photo about, except with black ribbon on each layer and crystals only on the bottom and top layers (which also saved some cost). Our goal is approx. $15.50 per person, but with half the cost coming from floral and the other half from the bakery, this may be hard to determine.
After Elizabeth left we had our cake testing. By this time we were hungry! Maxine brought out the basic flavors and said we could pretty much add/change anything we wanted to.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/2168e61b.jpg
We already decided we wanted Red Velvet as one of the layers and that we wanted fresh strawberries in the mousse of the other. I was surprised, but the Almond cake was my favorite. It didn’t taste nutty to me at all. I think it was the consistency that I liked the most. It had a similar taste to the yellow birthday cake, but was thicker. Some of the mousse was pretty bland and the raspberry was way to sweet for us. So we decided to do the Almond cake with Amaretto mousse and a layer of fresh strawberries as the bottom layer of the cake. The next two layers will be the Red Velvet cake (since fresh fruit won’t store well).
We finished up with a few extra details, like adding our name to the ADH marquee having Mickey and Minnie stop by. We are still on the fence about the mice, but if we can keep everything on budget I would like to have them. Maxine also told us about the confetti cannon, where the DJ would call everyone out for the “last dance” (but not really the last dance) and once everyone is out there the cannon would go off. Kind of a cool way to wind the evening back up after the cake cutting and the photos would be awesome! I think she said it was $600, so I am not sure if it will stay on the BEO either. :scared1:
Wow! I think that pretty much wraps up our planning session! I feel like we got so much done while we were there! I can’t wait to see our first BEO and start finalizing everything :cloud9:

Thanks!! We hit the 6 month mark on Easter Sunday and will have been engaged a year at the end of May! Time is really flying by!!!
I don't have our first BEO yet, but we said we budgets for a salad and duo plate entree for between $70 and $75 a person and the cheese display for $10 per person. I'll let you know where it comes in at once we get our BEO!

It’s been a couple weeks since our planning session and we have a couple more weeks to go until we can expect our BEO – and the waiting is killing me! We have a pretty good idea of where everything should come in at, so hopefully there are not too many surprises.
Meanwhile, I officially have a pregnant bridesmaid! She is due Dec 5, so I picked out a new dress that will accommodate her growing belly. :) It is really simple and super affordable for everyone. It is this dress only in black.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/932c30a2.jpg
I need to pick out the shoes and jewelry still but I feel like we are finally moving forward on this front. I have one bridesmaid who is allergic to metal, so jewelry will probably be a little challenging!
We also went and ordered DF’s ring this weekend. It is a David Yurman ring that we ordered from Nordstrom’s. It should take 4-8 weeks to come in.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/81f3747c.jpg
Other than that, I have just been finishing up some of the little projects I had started. I found this hair clip from an Etsy seller that I am going to wear for the rehearsal dinner.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/6195a889.jpg
I also found my “something blue” while we were at Disney earlier this month.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/d7da4e5c.jpg
Another DIS bride got something like this for her something blue. It is not the best pic, but is says “I whish to live the life of a princess.” I am either going to wear it as an anklet or tie it on my bouquet. I also picked up this fabulous purse and some ears for my mom :)

The personalized bags I ordered for the girls came in too!
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/d779c473.jpg
We have been collecting little Disney items for the flower girls’ bags.

I need to order the postage for our invitations sometime soon. I am just about done with those and will post some pics soon!
I almost forgot, we made the reservations for the tuxes too! DF will have white on white, the dads will have black vests and ties and the rest of the guys will have a dark red vest and tie. They will look something like this with pocket squares too!

Congrats on the pregnant bridesmaid (i think ). One of my cousins (younger) she's been married twice already and she is planning on being pregnant for our wedding so we will see how that works out. It's not a big deal for me as the girls will be allowed to pick out their own dreses anyways.
I love the dresses though very pretty! What fun things in the flower girls gifts. I plan on doing something similar as I bought the backpacks I plan on filling and jazzing up the outside.:goodvibes
Love the hair piece for your rehersal dinnet too

LOL - I have succumb to a "whatever will happen, will happen" attitude. So while the dress isn't the original dress I picked out, having her in my wedding means so much more than any dress! I took some time off from looking and then picking something was much easier! I think I am more disappointed that she can't partake in the Bachelorette party :rolleyes1

The past few weeks have been so crazy! It started with DF getting one of those phone calls from a groomsman that left us uncertain if they were going to make it to the wedding – and it just so happens that he is also the father of our flower girls. So after feeling out the situation we all decided it would be best if we take the pressure off them by releasing them of their “wedding party obligations”. We have a couple of ushers so loosing a groomsman was not the end of the world. And as it turns out, there were a couple other young girls (the only other kids coming to our wedding) that were thrilled to stand in as our flower girls – crisis avoided.
Well, then one of my girls gets diagnosed with cancer. Ugggg!
Now, my pregnant bridesmaid sent me a message last night saying her doctor doesn’t advise that she travel so close to her due date (she is due in early December) so she doesn’t know if she can make it. Her health comes first, and I would never want her to put her health or the baby’s health at risk. :headache:
On top of it all, I finally got the call from DPS today saying my MK photo shoot was cancelled. I have been expecting the call, so it wasn’t a total shock, just rubbing salt in my wedding wounds right now. We live close enough, so we can come back in the spring for the shoot, so it’s not the end of the world. It just kind of sucks right now.
Sorry for the rant! I try to be a very positive person, but I guess no one can avoid wedding woes at one point or another. :confused3

Despite everything the show must go on! We are having an at-home party for everyone who can't come to the wedding. Since we are both from Michigan, and the winter is not our favorite time there, we decided to have the party in the summer. A little unorthodox, but Fourth of July is my favorite time in northern Michigan. So I found a cute poem on line somewhere and invited everyone. Our families and friends are pretty laid back, so I don't think anyone will say anything about having the party before we are married.
These are the invitations we made for the party.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/9dcd5d01.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/d7c5602c.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/58b47dc8.jpg
They are a petal fold and the scroll design is similar to what we are using on all our other wedding stuff. My brother and parents are throwing the party for us, so they ultimately sent out the invites.
We are going to do a candy buffet at the party also. Home Goods had a great sale on some awesome jars last weekend  Once I add some ribbon, I will post a photo.
The postage for our wedding invitations came in too. So I can finish those up and send out in early June. We set the RSVP date for the end of July for our first round. We have a pretty good idea of who is coming, but there are still a few that we need to nail down. So this way we can send out the second round with plenty of time for them to get their rooms before we cut down our room block.

Woo Hoo for some good news! Our floral came in only $30 over budget!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:
I would prefer that our family and guests don't look at our BEOs.
That being said, other brides' BEOs were so helpful when we were preparing our budget, I have posted it on the "Share your budget?" thread for other brides.

Just a little update today. First, I found my earrings!!
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/44e29217.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/ebdaead0.jpg
They are from Swarovski and I couldn't be happier with them!! The curves and big crystal match the pattern on my dress.
My dress was suppose to have been in by now (actually it was suppose to have been in by mid to late May), so I finally called the salon. They checked on it and a lady called me back. Unfortunately I only understood about every other word she said, but it sounded like they were going to overnight it to my house over 4th of July weekend. Well, DF and I live together and we will be gone for a couple weeks around that time, so this just wouldn't work. All she would say is "no, someone will have to be there to sign for it". :confused3: Needless to say, I was really frustrated and a little nervous at this point (all I could picture is my dress sitting outside on my porch for a week while we were gone!!). :headache::headache::headache: I finally just hung up with her and called the salon back and asked to speak with my salesperson. She was so nice and apologetic. She explained that this person didn't know what she was talking about and that the dress should be in in a couple weeks. It will be delivered to the store and I have nothing to worry about. Grrr!! I guess that is what I get for trying to check on things and not being patient!!
On a side note, we got these this weeked :woohoo:

The Mickey and Minnie photo is from Disneyland (they also sent us "Just Married" buttons :)) and the Cinderella one is from WDW.
DF was sick last week and of course I am feeling it now. :sad2: Hopefully we will be all better soon so we can get ready for our trip to Michigan in a couple weeks!

Our numbers are all over the place though. We were originally at 62 (which was my max number that I wanted to deal with), but after loosing a couple families we are down to 55. So we may invite a couple more people.

Hi Nicole
I was wondering how you negotiated with DFTW? I was thinking the price they gave you was the price and that was it.
Thank you :)
Some things are set prices and others seem to vary from bride to bride. For instance I noticed menu items from one BEO differed from those of another. So after reading so many BEOs and all the menus I came up with what I thought was reasonable for our menu. Once we got our first BEO I had a phone conference with our planner and told her what I was looking to pay and said there must be some way to get our menu down to that price (whether it was having a smaller fillet, a different starch, etc.). Also, a lot of the menu items include an appetizer and dessert -- both of which we are not getting.
For the welcome reception she said the price was higher than average because we were only having the chocolate station (thinking people would eat more it). I stressed that half of the people would be coming from 'Ohana for the rehearsal dinner and would not be eating much. I also said I would cut out some of the random melons or have 1 type of chocolate instead of 2.
She went to the different chefs and came back within my price range on both without changing anything! My rule of thumb ... it never hurts to ask ;)

We are getting ready to leave Wednesday evening for our party in Michigan and have been super busy getting everything settled at work, the house, etc. so I haven't accomplished as much as I would like to by now. I have been working on the program covers for what feels like forever and the place card candles, so hopefully I will get those done after we get back in mid-July. I have decided to bring the materials for our menus and make my parents help with those while we are up north :)
I did finish the bathroom baskets (thanks Dolly for the great idea!)

After 30 hours of total drive time with the puppies, we made it back from our Michigan trip in one piece! :drive: Unfortunately, everything was unloaded into our front foyer and has not been touched in 5 days! … We had a wonderful trip, but it takes us a while to get back to normal life after being off from work for a couple weeks.
The pups love road trips! :dogdance: He is a pic of everyone loaded up.

We went to my parents’ house in northern Michigan first for the wedding shower/party. We rested for a day and then began getting everything ready. I was surprised we had so many guests from out-of-town that were coming. DF’s mom and step dad stayed at my parents with my brother and his wife. DF dad and step mom rented a nearby condo with other family members, so we had lunch with them in a little fish town the day they arrived.

I am so glad everyone gets along so well! One less thing that I have to deal with!!!
The party was lovely! The weather in northern Michigan was perfect … a little warmer than I expected (but at least it didn’t rain!). We set up in my parents’ backyard. I think my mom has been working on the yard and flowers all summer for this party! Here are a couple pics of the set-up.

My brother grilled and we had a nice spread of food and a candy buffet.

Of course the guests started to arrive early, but we had a lovely time. And it would be one of our parties if the alcohol didn’t come out! party:

We had shower pages made for our guestbook for the guests to fill out. I didn’t want to do any games, so this gave everyone something do. They are too funny! We had multiple references made to want grandbabies and lots of advice for the wedding day.

We had a little cake so we could practice the cutting. It is really awkward! I also learned that I have to specify when I tell DF to “put his beer down” I don’t mean put it in your pocket for the photos!
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/629a336c.jpg
We spent Fourth of July in northern Michigan (my all-time favorite holiday). We went out on the lake, went to the Cherry Festival and watched the fireworks.

Midweek we went to stay with DF’s mom and step dad down state. It was a nice relaxing time for me. The dogs played non-stop and I worked on some puzzles with his brother’s girlfriend. DF even got to play a pick-up hockey game on his friend’s team.

Your wedding sounds like so much fun. You have some wonderful ideas.
We are getting married December 2nd and our reception is at ADH. We are heading down for our planning session on Friday. How did you get a plated menu, we were told it could only be buffet here?? It also seemed as though the menus we were given were not under 100pp.

Thanks! You can now have a plated menu at ADH - actually I think they changed the rule last fall (according to our sales consultant). It was a deal breaker for us, so we had no problem getting it. There are some limitations on what you can have since the food has to travel a little bit, but we had no problem getting it. Have you asked your planner about it? I know the planners are not always on the same page, but I would push the point if it is something you want.
For the menu, we didn't go with one of Disney's set menus. We took out the app and the dessert, which took off between $*** pp. Then we talked with the chef during our planning session about what we were looking for and talked with our planner about what we wanted to pay for it. We had a couple back and forth rounds of negotiations between the three of us, but in the end we ended up well under $*** pp.
Good luck!

I have been so bad about keeping my PJ updated! Actually, I have been so super busy with work, I haven't gotten much wedding stuff done. :guilty: I have been assigned a bunch of Google patents to write by the end of the year ... good for my career, bad for keeping up with my wedding planning!
We have gotten most of our RSVPs back so we are finalizing our numbers and inviting a few people on our reserve list. Hopefully we will have that all squared away in the next week or so and can finalize the BEO. I am still going back and forth about spending all that money for Cindy's carriage to take a tour of the construction zone. I always wanted the carriage, but I think I may be disappointed with the ride around all the construction. :confused3 DF would prefer we went without it and put the money towards our honeymoon or something else, but I am still on the fence. I think I am going to pay the total minus the carriage now and wait to see some pics in the next month or so.
DF's ring came in last week, so that is one last thing I need to do! My dress is in also. My first fitting is scheduled for next week. I am a little nervous since I haven't seen it since January. Hopefully I don't need too many alterations!
Here is my abbreviated to-do list:
Finish programs
Finish menus
Finish place card candles (I have a lot of half-done projects around the house!)
Order the materials for the rehearsal dinner invites
Order Drinking Around the World t-shirts
Finalize list of attendees for all events
Finish Passports for new guests
Print out labels for welcome boxes, wine bottles, Bear Necessities packs and suckers
Finish schedule of events brochure for welcome boxes
Have all brochures printed for welcome boxes
Put together welcome boxes
Finalize schedule for hair (need to confirm times with Randy)
Get earrings for the girls
Get the girls to decide on shoes
Get marriage license
Decide whether we are doing a girls' tea and order invites (I don't know if I am putting too much on the schedule)
I am sure there are a few other things that I need to do, but you get the idea. My goal is to have everything done by the end of September - finger's crossed!

Hi, Nichole!
I'm sorry your so torn about having Cindy's carriage. It is a tough decision...you might really enjoy having it and get some great pictures, even though the path will be altered.
The list looks like it's getting shorter! :) I think it's great you are giving yourself a goal to be done by the end of September, so then you will have a couple of weeks to focus!
Can't wait to see more. :flower3:

Al little background first ... I have 3 best friends that I have travelled all over with and whom I always figured would be my bridesmaids/MOH. We have taken trips all over for any special occasion or any excuse we could come up with. All of them said yes, knowing the when, where, etc. of the wedding (I didn't ask anyone until we had already been engaged 6 months). One is currently teaching in Korea and will be back for the wedding (she actually negotiated her contract around my wedding and is super supportive). My MOH is turning 40 this year, has been divorced twice and desperately wants to have children, but hasn't found the right guy yet. She was thrilled when I asked her and was supportive through dress shopping late last year, but she has gotten really depressed lately. The other one is super emotional and a little unreliable.
I have been super stressed about work, trying to sell the house, and life in general the past month or so and really have not had time or the energy to deal with the wedding or any drama. The girls got their dresses and some have been bugging me to pick out some shoes for a while (something my MOH originally said she would do). So I went on-line, found something and sent a link asking the girls what they thought. 3 of the 5 liked them (pretty much saying "whatever you want"), one didn't say anything and my MOH said she didn't want to pay for shoes she wasn't going to wear again. Ok, so I tabled the idea, not wanting to deal with it. The other one didn't say anything. She (the unreliable one) called a week later and I completely vented about how stressed I was and how I didn't want to deal with everyone right now. I asked her not to say anything to anyone, but she called my MOH and I am not sure what she said to her but then my MOH was pissed at me. So she wanted to have dinner a couple days later on my bday to "work it all out".
I get there and they block me in the back corner of the booth and lay into me about what a complete bridezilla I am (even though I haven't asked them to do anything except buy a dress and get matching shoes) and how selfish I am for having my wedding out of town, on a Monday so they would have to take a day off of work and having it during their birthday "month" (among a long list of other putdowns. I am so completely hurt I didn't know how to defend myself and I was pinned in the corner so I couldn't leave. I feel like I have gone out of my way to make my wedding as easy as possible for everyone. I sent out STDs and a newsletter really early with tips on how to save/budget for the trip, I found super cheep dresses and haven't asked them to do anything (except try on dresses, which the unreliable one didn't show up for, and my MOH helped me pick mine out). I am the type of person who can't forget something once it is said and I reminded them of this when they started in on me.
I don't completely blame my MOH. I know she is really depressed and going through a lot of emotions right now (and I don't know what my BM said to her). I think our friendship will survive but I feel really awkward asking her to do anything wedding related. My dress is in and my first fitting is next week. She said before that she would go, but I feel like I am putting her out or making her more depressed.
I am really upset and hurt by my other BM though. I blame her for the whole ordeal. It has been a couple weeks since we talked and I have been trying to put it out of my mind. She called me last night crying (she is super emotional) apologizing for the talk and wishing we never had it. But then she said she still thinks I am a bridezilla and she stands by everything that was said! So I am at a loss about what she is apologizing for then! That I was hurt by it?!? I am to a point that I would rather she didn't come if I am putting her out that much and if I am such a terrible person in her eyes. DF is really upset and says I should tell her not to come before she bails at the last minute. I told her last night that if I was putting her out too much she didn't have to come and that I would completely understand. She said "it doesn't matter at this point." I really don't know what to do!
I try not vent my drama on here too much, but I really need some advice. We have friends that are so excited about our wedding. In fact some are inviting themselves to the wedding (saying they will come for everything else even if they can't come to the reception). I am so hurt that my best friends see my wedding as a burden.

Honestly? If it "doesn't matter to her at this point," I DEFINITELY think you should tell her not to come. Really. She is being completely unreasonable and unfair to YOU. Remember, that this is your day--- well, yours and DF's day--- and you should only have people who are positive influences be there for it! You don't need people like her in your life, and I think your other friends should understand this.
:grouphug::grouphug: Keep us posted on how it goes!
Honestly...is having a couple bridesmaids worth all of this?
Friends don't treat each other like this.
I'd release all of them from being in the wedding...and even from attending if they don't wish to come.
You are the Bride and the day revolves around you and your future husband....not them.
I went through some of the same and decided early on not to put up with any outside drama. Once a line was crossed...I released them from participation and moved on.
Don't worry about hurting any feelings by letting them go...they don't seem so concerned about yours.
Good luck.

Can you dump all of them? I mean, if they are going to do something like that, why bother having them there? They are supposed to alleviate your stress, not cause you more.
I would ditch all three of them for cornering you. It's not selfish to want the wedding of your dreams. Imagine how they would react if the situation reversed.

I'm so sorry you have to deal with that.. hugs all around.
Honestly, I completely agree with Dustin. I would just send out a general email or text or something to ALL of the bridesmaids and just say that she has heard and gotten the vibe that everyone is really stressed out and not sure that they can handle all of the wedding you completely understand if they want to drop out, but they knew to begin with that weddings are not easy. The role of a bridesmaid is to help out the bride with whatever stupid little stuff there is to do,they have no right to call you a bridezilla, which you completely aren't! Tell them to watch the show one night and if they want a REAL bridezilla you'd be more than happy to oblige. =]
I would even throw in something how when you had asked them, you asked them because they were someone you felt you could rely and count on when times are crazy, not so that you can get b**ched at for stupid mediocre stuff.
Matching shoes and dresses are really not that big of a deal. How much are their flowers going to cost you? How much is larger transportation costing you so that you can get them there with you instead of having to fend for themselves? How much is rehearsal dinner costing you? How much is their bridal party gift costing you? AND WHO KNOWS WHAT ELSE. I'd say that they got the easy end...
Bah.. girls always get me all riled up! lol. Sorry!

They were filming Say Yes to the Dress Bridesmaids while I was having my fitting. It is a little crazy how much prep goes into that show. Those girls had to film the same stuff multiple times until they got the emotion or reaction they wanted. I had thought about signing up for the show, but now I am glad I didn't. It might be a nice experience, but the show turns your reactions into the story line it is trying to create.

I still have a few more DIY projects to complete, but mostly I have admin-type stuff to work out before the wedding. We are finalizing the design for our Drinking Around the World t-shirts so I will hopefully be ordering them in the next day or so.
We have all of our RSVPs in, so I also have my BEO pretty much finalized. I still need to decide about Cindy's carriage though. We have decided to move to a new house after the wedding, so DF wants to put the money towards new furniture or the honeymoon. A part of me is still hanging on to it, but I am slowing starting to think it is not a necessity and it may not be worth it.
I have to say that Maxine has been so wonderful and helpful in this process. She has been so easy to work with and I really feel like she has gone to bat for us on a couple of different things. If you can't already tell I am incredibly OCD and don't do last minute. She has worked so well with me! I must have e-mailed her 15 times this week and she has responded promptly and thoroughly on each. :thumbsup2
I also sent a request for the marriage license (I cannot believe we are almost 2 months away!!). They acknowledged my request, but I guess they don't send the actual application until you are within 60 days?
Well I was able to cross a couple things off my to-do list. Here is what I have left (until I think of something else that I have forgotten about):
1. Finish programs - I am waiting until late September for this one, just in case there are some BM changes :sad2:
2. Finish menus - almost done with these!
3. Finish place card candles )
4. Order the materials for the rehearsal dinner invites - DONE
5. Order Drinking Around the World t-shirts - Done tomorrow (hopefully)
6. Finalize list of attendees for all events - DONE
7. Finish Passports for new guests
8. Print out labels for welcome boxes, wine bottles (DONE), Bear Necessities packs and suckers
9. Finish schedule of events brochure for welcome boxes - up next
10. Have all brochures printed for welcome boxes
11. Put together welcome boxes
12. Finalize schedule for hair - DONE
13. Get earrings for the girls
14. Get the girls to decide on shoes - I think I am avoiding this one!
15. Get marriage license - requested
16. Decide whether we are doing a girls' tea and order invites - I decided to leave this on the itinerary but not make invites to it. Instead, I am going to leave it open to whomever wants to come and have everyone pay for themselves
We are getting closer!!:goodvibes

Love all of your plans and your dress!!!!!
I was in the same boat as you are when it came to the carriage. We decided to drop it last week, and I don't miss it at all. Just think about how much it means to you and if its worth it to have. DF and I thought about it long and hard before we made a decision.

Love all your plans! They sound like so much fun! It's great you have so much time in Disney before the wedding, that's one thing I regret from mine! I can't wait to see how it all comes together, you are getting so close! Exciting! :woohoo:

You look gorgeous in your dress!!
As for the drama, it seems she's the type that must have drama so no matter what you do more drama will come, IMHO I think your decision is best to hope that she backs out herself. She will probably create drama while doing it but others will realize it when she's the one backing out and everyone else is standing beside you supporting you because they care about you and are genuinely happy for you! It will work out though!
Love your time-line, I may have to borrow that! :goodvibes
Where are you getting your shirts done at? Is it somewhere local? I'm excited to see how everything looks and how the event goes!!!

Thanks! AFter talking with our photographer about the possibility of having buses and cars in the carriage photos we have decided to drop it. We would still have the photos at the WP, but the money will probably be better applied elsewhere. I am a little sad, but our day will be beautiful and perfect with or without the carriage! :lovestruc

Thanks! Most of our family is making this a vacation, so we wanted to give them lots of fun optional things to do while we are there. I am super excited about it!:banana:

We are ordering the t-shirts from an online vendor (http://www.thet-shirtland.com/gildan_tshirt_special.htm). This is the best price I could find if we order 50 shirts. My brother is drawing a couple designs for the front and then we are ready to order! I will definitely post pics when they come in!! :yay:
We have almost hit the 2 month mark!!

DF's step mom made homemade Cherry Pinor Noir for us to put in our welcome boxes. We picked up the wine when we were in Michigan last month, but I finally ordered the labels. I need to have a couple brochures and leaflets printed up and cut then we can start working on putting together the welcome boxes!

I have also been busy working on the place card candles. These have been a harder project than I originally thought, but I am about half way done and finally getting the hang of it.
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/3e77253e.jpg
We ordered flameless candles to put in them. Originally the candle tip was taller than the glass, so DF removed the outside shell of the candle and we put just the light bulb and bottom part in the glass. I think they have turned out ok considering how hard they were to figure out!

I still have some menus to finish and then I need to print out the rehearsal dinner invites. We ran out of color ink last week, so I am waiting for our order to arrive!

Thanks so much! We ordered the flameless candles from batteryoperatedcandles.net. It was the least expensive place we could find them.

Thanks! It is my favorite wine that she makes! But, it tastes almost like juice, so it can catch up on you ;)

60 days to go!!party:
We reached the 60 day mark!!! Wow we are finally getting so close!! [insert a mix of emotions ... nervous to get everything done ... excited for it to finally be here ... a little anxiety ... and a pinch of relief]
We got our application for the marriage license yesterday. So far the process has been really smooth. We will get it notarized this weekend and then I can check that off my do-to list
We officially listed my house for sale yesterday. :scared1: I know if it just one more thing to deal with, but we would really like to be moved in somewhere by early December/late November so it just made sense to start now. So ... I get to add packing to my list of things to get done. We started a little earlier this week ... I never realized how many framed photos I had in this house until I had to start packing them all away! Taking out the personal stuff to show the house makes it look so bare!

Today was met with more drama. As it turns out my off the wall BM has been cyber stalking me and decided to read my PJ. So I have taken down the pics of my dress and a few other things that I don't want posted all over the place out of malice.
It looks like she has officially dropped out of the wedding (via text message no less). My favorite parts are:
"Hey there botox bride! ...
Its amazing how many lies you've told lately. People are truly embarrassed for you :(
Have fun at the wedding and with your imaginary friends when its over!"
Not sure what lies I have told or who is embarrassed for me :confused3 but I just want the drama to end!

Thanks guys! The level of maturity emanating from her text just makes me shake my head (and laugh a little). I am hoping the drama is now over. I feel a little relieved since I have been expecting her to do something. I wish her nothing but the best, but as long as she waits for someone else to give it to her, I believe she will remain unhappy (and unable to be happy for anyone else). At least I have a few weeks before the wedding to move on from this point and focus on my friends (the "non-imanginary" ones :lmao:), family -- and most importantly on DF and I.

Thanks! In retrospect we probably should have started the house thing earlier this summer, but we really want to start our new life together in an "our house' not in the house I shared with an ex several years ago. It adds a little more stress, but it will be so worth it for us! I am really looking forward to leaving this part of my life behind (and the drama that seems to be attached to it) :goodvibes

We have made the last set of revisions to our BEO and paid our final payment today!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: I have to admit, sending the final check feels pretty good!
I also finished the rehearsal dinner invitations last night. One more thing checked off my to-do list!
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/a5297054.jpghttp://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/70e773a5.jpg
We also received the proof for our t-shirts. We are going to make the image on the back a little bigger, but other than that we are super excited about these!
http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af43/weberni2/Wedding%20Stuff/ad051c19.jpg
The girls have all ordered their shoes and are throwing us a shower in a Jack and Jill shower in a couple weeks.
We received the application for our marriage license. So we still need to go get that notarized. So I have actually made some good progress on my to-do list. Here is the updated list:
1. Finish programs
2. Finish menus - almost done with these!
3. Finish place card candles
4. Finish Passports for new guests
5. Have all brochures printed for welcome boxes
6. Put together welcome boxes
7. Get earrings for the girls
8. Get marriage license
9. Get gifts for the girls throwing the shower
Certainly more manageable! With the long weekend, hopefully I can get most of this done!

Sweetie - I know I am not Nichole so please excuse me for butting in, but all the DIY invitation companies seem to do these pockets ( I'm pretty sure Cards and Pockets will do them)!! I used them for my invitations, but used a UK based company. If you have no joy, let me know and I will point you in the direction of that company, but I guess it would be so much cheaper to use a US based company!!

Thanks! I ordered these pockets from www.envelopperinc.com. Then I ordered the card stock from www.cutcardstock.com - the red outer layer was .25 smaller than the envelopes and the white printable layer was .25 smaller than that. The name seals are left over from our invitations. I am pretty sure I ordered those from www.cardsandpockets.com. I printed the invitations and then glued everything together. All in all pretty easy once you get the hang of it! PM me if you need any help!
