Slide Mount Swap Complete!!!!!

Hey everyone!!
It sign up time for the Slide Mount Swap!! This is the first swap I will be hostessing, so please bear with me!! I am going to be guided by the awesome Princess Nancy!! :worship::worship: The sign-ups will open on Monday, September 27 at 9:00 am.

I will leave it up to each individual if they want to adhere paper and alter pre-made slide mounts or if they want to use their Sizzix slide mount (or another brand) dies. There are sometimes I like the thicker ones and there are sometimes I like the thinner ones. It’s totally up to the swapper. Please remember to embellish!!! This is a lot of fun and an easy swap! The members last time had a great time and they turned out great!!!

For ideas on how this went last round, please look at the photos of the previous slide mount swaps.

Due date is October 29 (that is when I need to receive your package). Please mail packages out by October 25. I will be mailing them back out on November 1.

The "rules" –
1. Choose a group. There will be a variety of groups to choose from. Groups will include holidays, birthday, seasons and Disney groups. I will open others based on interest.

2. Choose your spot – Make 2 slide mounts for each person. The actual numbers will be posted when sign ups close on Saturday (10/2). There will be a variety based on interest and the amount of spots in each different group.

3. After sign-ups are closed, PM me with your DIS name, name, home address, email address, and phone numbers. Email and phone numbers will only be used to follow up if I have not heard from you.

4. After sign-up are closed, this will be changed to a progress thread. Check-ins will be 10/5 (PM's sent), 10/15 (last call for angels) 10/21 and 10/25 (mail).

5. Check the progress thread for your status - it will be updated with ship info and received info.

6. Packing Instructions – PLEASE use a separate baggie for each person and put everything for that person into their bag. Please label each bag with your name, Disname and group so we know who made each element. You‘ll have several bags to enclose in the larger (quart or gallon size) bag for each group you are in - be sure to include your name, your DIS name and your group number on the larger baggie.

7. Mailing Instructions - Include enough money for postage (or stamps if you don't want to send cash) to return your items.
Please don’t send metered or click-it/ship-it postage – some hostesses have had issues with these. If you would like to send it to me a cheaper route that is fine, just let me know.
** Because this is a small swap if you would like to mail your items regular mail that is fine, let me know when you mail and remember to ADD a little extra postage for the return.

8. PM me if you have problems and need to drop out or if an emergency happens (we all know things happen beyond our control sometimes), let me know so we can make arrangements for an angel or other help if needed.

I'd love to play, but have never made a slide mount. Actually, I've never gotten one in a swap either. I see pics posted from time to time, but haven't gotten one. If someone can clue me in on how these are made and where you get the mounts.....I'd love to play. They seem like great little extras for on a page.

They can be found at all the craft stores... and you can make them from your cricut!!! :)
I know they can be found on some of the carts..can't think which one..but they can be circles, squares, rectangles.....

I bought some at oriental trading a few years ago... you could always buy them and then recover them...I'd be happy to cut everyone a whole bunch out of white cardstock that need them and you could recover them....

Do you want just plain white ones? If so, about how many? You could use your exacto knife to cut out the center....

Ahhhhh!!! It was great! It was my first time there for the Halloween decorations...so great! I LOVE Halloween! It was definitely a different experience without kids....but nice. I do have to admit, though...I made friends with a bunch a little kids on the plane, buses, monorail. etc. I guess I was missing them!! We all go back in March...so it'll be back to the family Disney exoerience!

One more question...I need some opinions regarding group size...

For example: Group one has one more spot left. If we get interest from 2 or 3 more people, would anyone be opposed to making the group a bit bigger, or do we want to keep it at 5? I would not let it go over 7. If we had 8 slots, I could make it 2 groups of 4. Group one was just the example I used, but the question really stands for groups A - E and I. I am going to leave it open until Saturday morning...but as it stands now, I will combine groups A and A1. (It only makes it 6.) Otherwise, everything else should be able to stand alone. I plan to do some fill-in where needed. So, I will post Thursday or Friday to announce what spots need filling and ask for help.

Coordinating...not the same, but the paper can be the same or matching. As long as you can tell that they "go together" it's great! They should not look like "twins" though!! LOL How's that??!! I have been having a lot of trouble choosing my words lately! Let me know if you need any further explaination...my 6 year old will be home at 4:30...he may do a better job!! :rotfl2: Geez....sleep deprivation gets you nowhere!!!

If you look at some of the last slide mount swaps there were some that were totally different from each other but coordinated.... so it will be all good!!!!

I had originally had Minnie as my choice in the Fab 5 group and changed it to Pluto...then joined the Minnie group...so I guess I am a bit undecided on the whole thing. I will decide what to do and let you all know.

Just to make sure y'all know. Rachel's paper didn't photograph very well--it is irridesent (sp?) so it changes color as you move it. The one is blue w/purple & green overlay and the other is white w/pink overlay. But, yes it is very sparkly ;) She LOVES bling!!

In all of the othrswaps, specialty paper counts as an embellishment. So, as far as I am concerned, adding the 3-d shapes (in Rachel's case) is embellishing it twice. Maybe PN96 can weigh in a bit more on this since she has hosted this swap previously. I think embellishing these more than twice can be overkill. They are small and we don't want to over do it. Thanks for asking before we get too far into it, though!! And, I have seen all of the slide mounts you did for other swaps and they were perfect. So, keep with your instincts! What a great little reward for her! I hope she keeps posting...makes the anticipation so much more to have a preview!!!!

Yes, you can... just cut the 2nd color just like she would the first layer...
Glue the first layer onto the traditional slide mount and wrap around... then take the 2nd layer (color) and cut it where she wants to divide it.. and glue it to the first layer.

Does that make sense?

I've even done torn pages for my second layer and inked them before... Thinking of doing something like that for my AK mounts...

I find that when that happens, it's best to put it away for a bit and walk away. When I come back to it, it usually just comes to me and flows right onto the paper!! You have over a week until the mail date...no worries!!!!

ok, you've got your account open..

In your album up on the top you will see the different things you can do.. click slideshow...
It will open a new screen that will show all your photos..
1. select the photos you want in the slide show (the left side): you can add titles for each photo here just scroll down a bit and you will see all your photos you've chosen in a box below just above each photo you have a title box, type what info you want in there
2. select the style of the slideshow... (the right side)
3. save slideshow

viola' you're done!
