View Full Version : ~*The Name Game...Song Style!*~

Wanna play? Another game just to keep us going until more good news is announced!! :) I know you commandos get anxious and we don't want you to start climbing the walls in here!! ;):D

Okay, how this works...I will start and name a song, but the song has to have a persons name in it...For example:

Sweet Caroline

Then the next person has to name a song that has a name in it and so on....pretty easy, but you cannot repeat a song! That is the only rule...No repeats!! LOL

Okay, so who is next? :):)

Towncrier

We pause this thread a moment for a question.

What do the following songs have in common (besides the fact they they were performed by groups that only had one hit)?

Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes) - Edison Lighthouse
My Baby Loves Lovin' - White Plains
Beach Baby - First Class
United We Stand - The Brotherhood of Man
Gimme Dat Ding - The Pipkins

BTW - "Mickey" is from one hit wonder (and choreographer) Toni Basil

Barb
08-30-2002, 05:40 PM
Wild guess here-all written by the same person??

Towncrier
08-30-2002, 05:42 PM

Barb

Towncrier
08-30-2002, 11:21 PM
Have you ever heard of Tony Burrows?

Barb
08-30-2002, 11:46 PM
Well, another wild guess-they all had the same lead singer??

Towncrier
08-31-2002, 12:09 AM
Ding ding ding. Close enough. Tony Burrows was lead singer for Edison Lighthouse, First Class, and White Plains. Did you ever notice how those three songs sound kinda similar (or at least the lead singer sounds similar). Tony Burrows was not lead singer for The Pipkins or The Brotherhood of Man, but he did sing with those groups as well.

Tony Burrows released a CD with the five songs that I listed in the question (along with some other followup songs by those groups). I own the CD, but I can't say that I've ever listened to the whole thing straight through.

Well, I successfully hijacked this thread for nearly half a day.

We now return you to the originally scheduled insanity.

Barb
08-31-2002, 08:23 AM
Thank you, thank you, thank you. ;) When I made my first guess, it was either that question or the lead singer question. Those were the two things I had in mind. :) So, what's my prize?! ;) ;) ;) I think I still have a 45 of My Baby Loves Lovin! :teeth:

And, now back to our regularly scheduled thread:
Joanna-Kool and the Gang (or is it Johanna?)

Barb,

Amy was by Pure Prarie League.

" Amy, what you gonna do? I swear, I could stay with you...."
That's why Dave and Bev named their daughter Amy...they loved the song.
