View Full Version : Will someone wake me up please?

I must be dreaming.
Just got the final number for our closing costs...
It's about $2500 LESS than what we were anticipating!! So unless they missed something and call back and go "Oops, just kidding!", we've got it without any problem tomorrow, and it doesn't wipe us out at all even for just the 3 days it would take for DH's paycheck to be deposited!
Oh -- and we went through the house for the last time today. They took care of every single thing we had on our list, either fixing the "problem", replacing it entirely, or explaining why something was done that way. Everything on the list that either we found or the inspector found has been dealt with to our satisfaction and beyond my expectations.
This has got to be a dream. Things don't go this smoothly in real life!

Wonderful to hear Tammi! Our number was off of figured it to be It was great to know that our final number owed was less than not only what we figured it might be, but what the loan company had originally told us. I hope everything else with the house goes as smoothly for you!!

That happened to me too, but when I went in for the final closing instead of getting money back like I was expecting, they expected me to give them another check. It happened to be for the EXACT amount of money I had left in my account. Here's hoping you will have better luck than I did.

Rajah, this often happens. It all depends on the Credits the seller has to give you Vs. the Deposits the lender is requiring, at the time of closing. Eventually, you'll pay every tax dollar, insurance dollar owed but, right now, the seller is crediting you for what THEY owe right now (predicted). This can be for various pro-rated items, including water/sewer (here in Chicago), besides what I already mentioned. I'm just glad it worked in your favor for now, as this is the hardest part, financial-wise. But, I do suggest holding onto that 'found' money for future expenses/costs.
Congrats!! Here's to a smooth Closing!! :smooth:

When we bought our house, we received a check at closing, rather than having to give them one :) ... hope yours continues to go smoothly!
