Hello to everyone in DISboards World!
I'm dipping my toe in my PJ today. (Mainly because I just typed a big post and it was accidentally deleted by my oh-so-awesome computer anti-skills, now it's almost time for work. oops)
Quick rundown more to follow soon.
I'm Kristen, age 27. Mark is my DF, age 27 as well. We have a 2 year old daughter A.B.
We're looking at getting married on our 5th anniversary date. It also happens to be my grandparents wedding anniversary date as well. I'm hoping to find some way to pay tribute to them and their 50s wedding as well as making a unique theme that fits our personality. Lately I've been kicking around some ideas and we'll see what I finally settle on in a little bit.
I'm looking for a bit of advice. As a newly bride-to-be with so much planning to be done and so many details to consider, how did you keep yourself from feeling all over the place?
I kind of feel like I don't know what to start with so I'm looking at everything all at once. Should I start with picking a dress? Theme? Colors? :confused3 What made planning less overwhelming for you?
I think we'll have our ceremony at Sea Breeze Point and I have my heart set at the Tower of Terror Courtyard for our reception.
That's all for now. See ya real soon! princess:

Ok, I suppose it's time to post again.
Here's a little bit about Mark and me.
In 2007, I was finishing up college in my hometown and working nights as a cocktail waitress at a local casino. Mark has just started his job as a slot attendant at the same casino. I remember seeing him as he was learning the ropes on the gaming floor and seeing the look he gave me. The first thought that crossed my mind was, "Great here comes another one." :rotfl: Cocktail waitresses see the look he gave me a lot.
A week or so later, he came looking for me on the floor to let me know someone in his work area on the floor needed a drink and he'd be happy to show me where the person was. As I passed by him, he put his hand on the small of my back to guide me along. It was a very sweet and gentle gesture that perked up interest about him. After taking the drink order I asked around and found out he was single. :woohoo:
We started eating lunch together on our breaks and learning about each other. Occasionally, I'd catch him scoping me out as I served the card tables. But, then again, he was a 6'4" tall guy in bright red shirt among a sea of purple and green carpet. How could anyone not notice him following them around. :lmao:
One evening, after hanging out with some friends he and I decided to meet up for a late night meal at Denny's. As we sat there chatting he leaned over and he kissed me. We've been inseparable ever since.
It should also be said that about a month after that first kiss, our daughter, A, became a part of our lives or, at least, we found out that she would be a part of our lives.
She's an amazing little kid and we can't wait to see her as our flower girl. :lovestruc

I'm looking for a bit of advice. As a newly bride-to-be with so much planning to be done and so many details to consider, how did you keep yourself from feeling all over the place?
First of all... Congrats!
The all over the place feeling is common... I think? I'm new to the game too so here's what I did: Picked venues--scheduled a site visit to assure those are what we want. Picked colors--so I can get moving on ideas. I made a list of things that I wanted, AND things I definately didn't want. This keeps me focused, although my want list just keeps growing :rotfl: We haven't nailed down a date or a budget yet, so I'm waiting on a lot of details until we talk about that. It's also a good idea to make a pre-liminary guest list to get both of you on the same page for an approximate number.
Also, if you don't have it already... download the Passporter for Disney Weddings!! It's soooooooo helpful!!

Thanks for the welcome. I appreciate it. :thumbsup2

Thanks for all the great pointers. I have gotten the Passporter and it has been great. It's like my new personal bible. It's covered in pink highligher and pencil marks (crazy drawings of strange faces, eyeballs with legs and flaming hearts: Mark's contribution) :rotfl:
Luckily we're starting to get in a direction. We have an idea of our minimum budget. Colors have been picked, theming has been pinned down. I'll be sharing that stuff soon. :cutie:

Mark, AB and I took our third trip to WDW this year in August. It was our first time to go without my mom or his dad meeting us there. :cool2:
On our third day at the parks we decided to take advantage of EMH and boogied over to the Magic Kingdom to beat the crowds and the heat. After separating at the bag check, Mark and AB went on ahead, our battle plan was to meet at Peter Pan. How insane are the lines there the rest of the day?! :confused3
I made a mad dash to Peter Pan only to find no Mark and about four missed calls on my phone. It turns out the two of them had stopped to meet Pinocchio and I had ran right past them.
Once they got to Fantasyland, we got onto Peter Pan, Dumbo and the Carrousel. By this time Mark proclaimed that he was hungry and could use a cup of coffee. I suggested we get the food from the Main Street Bakery. On our way out of Fantasyland, Mark told me he wanted to get our picture taken in front of Cinderella's Castle before the heat set in and we looked melted and disheveled. I tracked down the first photographer we saw and got in line to get our castle mug shots.
AB refused to get out of her stroller and proclaimed she had no intention of being in the picture or as a two year old would put it, "I don't want to!" :headache:
So, I left her in the stroller and stood by Mark. We took our first shot and then Mark knelt down on one knee, little black box in hand and asked me to marry him. :cheer2:
Of course, I said "yes" all the while the photopass photographer is taking shots of the whole thing.
Here is my ring-a-ding :yay:

When DF and I started planning this whole shindig out we had a tough time figuring out where to have the ceremony and reception. I really like the Tower of Terror courtyard, but I didn't like making our guests wait until 9pm to have dinner.
Mark liked the LSS, but I thought it would be too dark and I've never been a huge fan of wood panelling.
Finally, we decided that a morning ceremony in France followed with a brunch style dessert party on the lower terrace in france and an evening reception at Tamu Tamu courtyard. I loved this location. I even designed an invite and had it ready to go when we started looking at all the little bean-counting details.
Here's the original invite, designed my little 'ole me.
http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t139/flaschdansser/Wedding%20Photos/Invitationprototype-1.jpg
I had no idea that we would have to charter two 5hr minimum buses to do this. (One in the morning and one in the evening) This would double our transportation budget and we'd have to drop enough money to feed a small country just for video and photography. :scared1:
So, we are now having an evening wedding at SBP with our reception at Tamu Tamu
Here are the three options for invites that I whipped up today:
http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t139/flaschdansser/Wedding%20Photos/Invitation2.jpg
http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t139/flaschdansser/Wedding%20Photos/invitation3-1.jpg
http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t139/flaschdansser/Wedding%20Photos/invitation4-1.jpg
What do you think?
As for colors, I think this is where my bridezilla moment has been tied to.
First, I wanted to do a pool, raspberry, lemon, orange, violet color scheme. Something really bright and cheery that pops. It definitely popped. I just couldn't stick to it. DF thought maybe we should pull colors from the art nouveau paintings we liked. So we went with an opalescent palette of pastel pink, yellow and purple. I liked this for a while but after looking at stationary and trying to match up the colors on paper, it felt like it matched the color scheme to all of my daughter's princess toys. :lmao:
I couldn't live with that, I'm just not that girly.
I think we've finally settled and I'm doing my best to stick with it.
Here they are:
http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t139/flaschdansser/Wedding%20Photos/KMcolorpalette.jpg
I think that's all we've got for now.
I did buy my dress yesterday, but I'll save that for later.
We are trying to pick an officiant and I'm between Jack Day, Tim Herring and Rev Kev. If you have any input, please fill me in.

Ok, so, I'm pretty indecisive about my wedding colors. I've come up between three color palettes: the old one and these two
http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t139/flaschdansser/Wedding%20Photos/KMpeacockpalette.jpg
and
http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t139/flaschdansser/Wedding%20Photos/KMChocViopalette.jpg
I'm leaning towards the violet/chocolate scheme but I'm not sold and worried once I make this the new official color theme, I'll change my mind. :confused3
So, we'll see. Input is welcome on these colors. :)
Oh! As I said before, our wedding date is mine and Mark's anniversary and it is also the same day as my grandparents' wedding day. They were married in 1955. I found a picture of their wedding day and thought I would share it because I think they were just adorable. :cloud9:

The photo isn't in the best quality but, hey, it's over 50 years old.
I bought my dress almost a week ago and can't wait for it to get here. :bride:
I have some shots of me in a size too big sample at the bridal salon, but I think I'll start with what it looks like on the model.

I chose my attendants recently and they all said "yes!" (Hooray!) I had sent them blank Hallmark cards with the words "Will you be my bridesmaid?" written with a caligraphy pen but in my hadwritting (nothing even remotely close to caligraphy).

Thanks. I've never used photoshop and was kind of worried that they'd turn out terribly. I even asked a friend with a background in art to come up with something for us. Luckily, I don't think I'll need him after all. :) Transportation is outrageous! Oh, and congrats to a fellow castle engagementee :yay:

I'm am a total purple person but I like your original colors better. I think purple is the "color of the year" right now and everyone is doing it. Unless you've got another color scheme cooked up already?
Love the photo of your grandparents. And your gown!

You're right about the purple, I've been seeing it a lot lately and it was one of my MOH colors at her wedding, so I'm kind of hesitant to use it. Still love it though. Pink/Gray has been easier to find inspiration photos and research on, but I don't want to feel like I'm stealing curiouser's colors. :scared: I haven't cooked up any new color schemes  Work has been changing gears, so I have less time to think about colors. Maybe I should post what I've found from each palette and put up a poll...
My grandparents are/were a big deal to me. Thanks. They were always around and in my and my mom's corner when she was raising me as a single parent. My favorite married couple.

Almost as soon as I got engaged, I started looking at dresses. Honestly, nothing really jumped out at me. I wanted something that wasn't too bulky, over the top or trendy. Other than that I was lost. Lace was something I was drawn to, but I wasn't sure if it would flatter my figure or hide any places I'd be self-conscious about.
The first shop I went to, I went by myself. I didn't want to get caught up in too much emotion in buying a dress and I didn't want to cry in front of anyone that would come with me and have them convince me that the dress I was wearing was making me cry out of happiness and not because I was depressed about my body or just crying out of stress. (Everyone needs a release now and then, even in a dress shop)
After trying on about a dozen dresses I found one that I liked but I didn't love it.
http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t139/flaschdansser/Wedding%20Photos/image-1.jpg
http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t139/flaschdansser/Wedding%20Photos/image.jpg
But in the days following, the more I thought about the dress the more I could picture walking up to the altar at SBP and wearing it in the warm weather. I almost teared up over it at work (bad idea, I work with all men)
I wanted a second opinion and I also wanted to see what else was out there. A week later I went to a second shop and tried on a few gowns there by myself as well. I liked this dress, but, again, didn't love it.
http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t139/flaschdansser/Wedding%20Photos/sottero_evita.jpg
I came home that day frustrated and consumed with an overwhelming feeling. I showed DF online shots of both dresses and he said he liked the second dress more. This was a bit of a bummer for me but I took it in stride and tried to forget about the first dress.
That following weekend Mom and I went to a bridal show and I ended up winning $250 to spend on any vendor at the show! :dance3: I planned to use the money at David's Bridal on BM dresses and was running around frantically to make sure I could use the certificates in store at not at the convention hall because I had to leave for work in 10 minutes after I won the moolah. I scheduled an appointment to look at dresses later in the week and brought MOH and Mom.
While there DF took DD out to look at the recently opened Halloween store nearby so she wouldn't have a melt down about not being able to go to the dress store too. After trying on a few dresses, I heard Mom say, "Are you supposed to be here?" and I knew what was going on. DF and DD stopped by to see me try on a few gowns. He knew I had no intention of buying anything at David's for myself and I was there to get opinions on what silhouette would work best for me. Here is what I tried on and liked:
http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t139/flaschdansser/Wedding%20Photos/P_9505_1_191796.jpg
http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t139/flaschdansser/Wedding%20Photos/P_9503_1_191738.jpg
DF liked the first one, everyone else vetoed it. The second one just felt like a dream to wear, but it was a little plain for what I had in mind. AB all the while had to help me with my train every time I walked back to the dressing room. No one told or taught her to do this. :lmao:
A few weeks later, Mom, MOH and AB hiked it up to the second dress shop I went to to scope out the stock. I gave a green light to pull dresses along with me to try out. After what felt like 30 dresses, we whittled it down to four. The original dress, a sleek champagne colored sheath the was reminiscent of Gatsby, a two-toned a-line/ball gown with ruching around the waist (mostly kept this b/c Mom was practically salivating over it :goodvibes: ), and a sweetheart, a-lne dress with multi-tiers of lace trailing down the skirt.
I tried on the last dress I mentioned first and couldn't say I didn't want to keep wearing it. The consultant brought out a veil and put it on me. I lost it, I began to tear up. I couldn't speak, because I would have started to sob. I took it, it became my dress.
Me trying not to cry and smile at the same time

To this day, I'm having a bit of anxiety about this dress for three reasons.
1) It cost about twice as much as we had budgeted for between me and Mom. I agreed to pay whatever the difference would be if we went over that number but Mom went on ahead and payed for all of it and didn't want me to pay her back. :guilty: Guilty feelings, but totally grateful.
At least they took the $250 wedding show bucks and put them toward my dress. :hyper:
2) I won't let DF see a picture of it and I'm worried he won't like it. His taste is so different from mine and he really liked the frilly layered dresses I tried on/showed him. This was a huge shock to me. He's an only wear black t-shirts, pierced his own septum with a torso of tattoos kind of guy. Frilly/fancy he is not.
3) I'm not sure exactly why I cried in the dress and I'm worried it wasn't b/c of the dress. Is it really the one? It's payed for. No returns. No exchanges. Can't handle more guilt that would come with buying another one. :sad2:
But the more I think about it and look at it and look at other dresses, the more I feel like this won't look so dated in 20 years or when my grandchildren see our wedding album. So, I'm working my way to be at peace with it. Hopefully, the dress that will be sized and built for me will look better on me too.
I did some early shoe shopping. I think these are cute and won't kill my feet. Taking votes/opinions

Ok, small update.
I'm not too sure about our reception location. It holds about 50 people but we're inviting more than 50 and we don't know for sure who will come and who won't. We also would like to have photography for the whole time and we don't want to pay for Disney photography for just the reception. So overpriced.
So, now we've booked a site tour January 11th. We'll be looking at Tamu Tamu, GF Marina, Backstage Prop Shop and, hopefully, Casitas Courtyard. I'm pretty excited about this because it will be our first trip with just DF and me! I just can't wait to do what we couldn't do before because we had DD with us.
I'll do my best to post pictures of the sites.

Well, we're making it through the holidays!
DF and I have a site tour scheduled in 11 days and I sent out our first newsletter a few weeks ago.
After getting a few replies from some family members we'd really like to see there saying they can't make it b/c of school and whatnot, we have moved the big day back to June 7th.
We're still thinking about a lot of details but I think for sure we'll be having the reception at Tamu Tamu Courtyard and a dessert party the night before as a welcome party to our guests. Outside of that, not 100% sure on anything else. We're thinking of putting our money on making an awesome reception for our guests i.e. food, entertainment, atmosphere. And not putting so much of our budget on photography, floral, decor (if that makes sense).

Last week Mark and I ventured to Disney for a two day trip and site tour. This couldn't be more welcome. We left KC with snow coming down and a predicted eight inches to hit the ground! No thank you. Mark loves the snow. He's lived in Georgia and Orlando for all but the last five years of his life. I've had a lifetime of snow. I'm over it.
We arrived at Disney on misty Monday afternoon with warm temperatures, retrieved our one piece of luggage and went to pick up our rental car. We walked over to the rental car counter and found a pretty long line that we really didn't want to wait in. Both DF and I got in the line and started to use the airport wifi to book a car with one of the rental companies nearby with no line. Well, as it turned out, the wifi connection was so slow that by the time we were ready to confirm our rental at a different company, we were at the front of the line. Go figure. lol
We walked across the street and met the person who would escort us to our car. As he walked us along, we mentioned we were there for a site tour and were getting married at Disney. He said that he was a DJ but doing the car rental thing to make ends meet but he was more of a full-time DJ (aren't they all?). He gave us his card and said he'd give us a good rate. We were booked to rent and economy car and he told us he would take a "hit" and get us a mid-sized vehicle. He set us up with a little Toyota, I think it was a corolla. Not a mid-sized at all. I almost bashed my knees getting into that tiny thing. So since he seemed to think we were dummies from the midwest, he certainly wasn't going to be a business card we kept.
We drove to Saratoga Springs and ended up having to wait around in the lobby for about 10 minutes for our room number and key while they rebooted the computer system. After watching a couple of kids almost go into a panicked frenzy and then one into hysterical laughter over a balloon they thought was going to float to the top of the super high ceiling at the Saratoga lobby (have you seen it? It's like 40 bazillion stories high!) only to have it float back down after rising to just out of anyone's reach. Thank goodness for those little Mickey balloon weights.
After check-in we went to Earl of Sandwich for dinner (insert drooling smiley if there was one). Neither of us had really eaten all day and this place always hits the spot!
My mom had some extra DVC points and had booked us a one bedroom villa. This place was nicer than our apartment. :woohoo: We had a full kitchen, living room, dining table, water closet, shower, two vanities in different rooms, washer/dryer, California king sized bed and jacuzzi tub big enough for two average sized people :worship: (so almost big enough for us).
Mark started the tub and tossed in a dishwasher pack to make sure it was not so germy from the last guests staying there. I was in the kitchen trying to crack open a bottle of wine and heard him start the jets in the tub. DF came into the kitchen to open the bottle of wine for real because, let's just be honest, I was pretending to open a bottle of wine like a mime with a prop. Once he poured the wine I walked back into the bathroom and could only say, "oh no! Oh No! OH NO!" Water was spraying across the bathroom!! Mark had started the jets before the water level had been above the jets. We now know that's a big no-no. I'm fumbling with the faucet with no idea how to turn the jets off, still yelling "oh no" (now I know what my go to panic phrase is) trying not to get soaked. Mark comes bursting in, laughing at the situation, strides through our personal fountain works and bathroom sized pool and turns off the jets.
I looked around in disbelief, then looked at him, "Your cleaning this up, I'm having some wine." He didn't argue. At least we knew our bathroom floor was clean from the dishwasher detergent water. :rotfl2: We soaked and sipped for a while then settled down for some sleep in our big heavenly bed.
Our site tour was on tuesday, first thing in the morning. We headed over to the Grand Floridian to grab a quick, totable breakfast and some coffee for the DF (I don't care for the stuff). The food court was right across from the Marina so we took a peek at it as we boogied on over to Franck's. We were a little early and poked around the main room taking pictures (me) and taking pictures of us taking pictures (DF).

Soon we were greeted by Bill. Nice man, I liked him. The three of us discussed what we liked and didn't like as far what we wanted in a venue. I most certainly didn't want a ballroom (might as well have it back home). Mark wasn't crazy about SBP. We both agreed that the Marina was nice because you could see the castle but we felt like, with the boats right there, that any moment Crockett and Tubbs of Miami Vice were about to come running out of no where jump in one of the boats and race off to chase some cocaine dealer.

I asked about Casitas Courtyard as a possible site for our ceremony. Bill hadn't even thought of that as an option but he seemed enthusiastic about it. He also told us that no one has done an event there, yet. Mark thought it looked nice and we both like the look of Tamu Tamu as a reception. Bill also told us we could have a Sunset Safari with our guests before the reception as the park cleared out. :thumbsup2
We agreed we liked these two venues and headed off to take a tour. First, we went over to the AK and drove around backstage to get to Tamu Tamu. We loved it, sold. We had our reception venue picked! The bonus: Tusker House is next to the courtyard. Perfect place for a kids' reception. ;)

:lovestruc SOLD!! :lovestruc
Bonus: We might be the first one's to have our ceremony there.
I'm just hoping no one else comes along in the next year plus and loves it and gets married there first. What can I say, gotta love bragging rights. :rotfl:
So, old color scheme: out the window. It looks like it would clash with CC a bit. Now I'm leaning toward the colors in this pic.

After we picked our spots, we went back to Franck's to finish up some paperwork. Bill penciled us in for Tamu and Casitas and let us know we can be officially booked February 7th. He then gave us a packet with menus, told us we could completely customize our menu, and then gave us some info on photography and videography.
Once we were done with our site tour, we decided to check out the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Highly recommend the cold version over the frozen! We had dinner at Earl of Sandwich, again. We love it and got different sandwiches this time. I passed out at about 9pm. I'm a lightweight.
The next morning we had breakfast at Kona Cafe. I had the Tonga Toast. It was huge but tasty. DF had some kind of egg dish. He seemed to like it. After breakfast we had a little bit of time before we had to be at the airport, so we took a ride on both monorail lines. It was a nice quiet finish to our tiny trip before we headed back to snowy Missouri. :cutie:

So happy to hear that you've been penciled in for Tamu Tamu and CC!
They are both beautiful! My DF really wanted Tamu Tamu, but we couldn't wait to have our reception so late at night (too many old people that would want to go to sleep )
I enjoy your new color scheme, too! I think it will look great!
Can't wait to hear more!

Thanks! We thought it was pretty and unique. I'm just thankful DF liked it too. Our tastes are a bit different (by a bit, I mean a lot). It would be pretty awesome to be the first wedding there. If not, at least we can say we're the first wedding booked there. :)

I understand about the old people wanting to go to sleep. We have a few but I'm thinking that an 8pm dinner is the same as a 7pm dinner to half our guests. And the ones that wouldn't want to be out that late wouldn't be that fun at the reception anyway. :thumbsup2

So, since we got back home I've been obsessing over the color scheme and floral and whatnot now that we have our locations pinned down.
http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t139/flaschdansser/Wedding%20Photos/inspirationboardv2.jpg
I'm going for an vintagey/antique-esque feel with garden/world traveler vibe. So, yeah, I picked a five color combo that I think would mesh nicely with both venues. Not sure if I'll go with roses or not. I love peonies, ranunculus, dahlias and carnations. If I can get the colors I want in carnations, that would be great. They're cheap and boushy! (poufy/bushy)
Definitely dig the color of the bridesmaid dress on the board with multi-hued pink bouquets and yellow shoes. Maybe some green succulents in the BMs' hairdos.
Input and suggestions are always welcome...as long as you love this. :lmao:

we walked around it when we stayed at coronado in november. if you do choose that location, it will give your guests a nice, economic place to stay without needing to worry about transportation afterwards :)

Joining in! :surfweb: I am loving all the plans so far! I think you have chosen very wonderful locations that are unique as they are not often used for DFTW (or for the courtyard, never used!) That is very neat you might be the first ones to get married there! I also love the dress and think it fits well into your theme. I actually tried on the frilly dress from DB too, (the one DF likes). I think that the dress you picked is not that different from the DB one that your DF liked, I'm sure he will love it, you look great in it! Can't wait to hear more, and your DD is going to make a super cute flower girl!

It is really pretty. I agree. We're definitely having our ceremony at Coronado. Hopefully most of our guests will pick this resort for their stay.

DD is really excited about being a flower girl. I told her about it a couple of weeks ago. She announced that she wanted a flower girl shirt and a flower girl hat. Child isn't even 3 years-old and she has wardrobe demands! :lmao:

With the 16 month marker just a few days away, I put together my save the dates in photoshop and am hoping to have vistaprint make them for me. I'm planning on inserting a KTTW card as a magnet in the middle of each STD. I'll try to post an image of the final product after they are ordered and assembled.
Here is the front of the STD
http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t139/flaschdansser/Wedding%20Photos/STD12.jpg
and the inside. (KTTW card will be placed in the middle)
http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t139/flaschdansser/Wedding%20Photos/STD1in2.jpg
I'm trying to decide how I should attach the magnet cards. I was thinking of cutting little slits and placing the card in that way, but it would be time consuming. I could glue them, but I don't know what kind of glue to use to make it easy to take the magnet off the card and won't damage the paper when I apply the glue.
Any advice?

Thanks everyone for your kind words!! You're so sweet! The image on the STDs is concept art for Cinderella by Mary Blair (she's the artist that designed It's a Small World and the big ol' mural that's in the Contemporary Resort. She was to coolest and I had to use a piece of her art somewhere. :)
Well, tomorrow is our 16 month marker! We can be officially booked!
I'm finally feeling a bit more settled on plans lately. Poor DF has been driven crazy with me constantly changing my mind when it comes to colors, cakes, invites, venues, dates, etc. Now I'm starting to stick to an idea in my head since we have both found venues that we both like. :goodvibes Things are becoming less written in Jell-O and more penciled to paper.
I ordered the Save the Dates today after some tweaking. Upromise got me a discount of 50% off the invites through VistaPrint. :cool1: I've gotta say it's worth signing up for the service! Discounts on tons of online vendors plus cashback. Bank of America's Add It Up program is great for this too.
I made our monogram today as well.
http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t139/flaschdansser/Wedding%20Photos/monogram1.jpg
I'm hoping to make these into stickers for our invites.
We want to incorporate butterflies and dragonflies into our theme. I want love birds but DF wouldn't budge on this and it's only fair that I make it work. ;)

Hi! I know how the waiting game is (obviously :rotfl:)! What's funny is waiting and waiting to be sixteen months out and when it happens. Nothing happens, so far, no email saying we're booked or even a phone call. I don't think I'm supposed to hear from them for another two weeks or so (or so I've read).
Thanks for the compliments. :goodvibes
I actually called my dress shop to get the date they expected my dress to come in. I had expected a six month wait, which put my guess early April at best. The girl at the shop told me that it's supposed to ship out next week and be in by the end of the month. :scared1:
So, yeah, surprised and excited. Now I feel like I've got to lose 20lbs and buy my wedding shoes yesterday. Even though I still have a little over a year to really meet my goals. Plus it will be much easier to keep them there if I don't have so long to keep admiring the key lime pie in the freezer section!

Also, I emailed my wedding consultant the day after my 16 month mark to see if we still had our date, times, and locations and she responded back the next day I believe. I don't think it would hurt to email your consultant asking the status just keep in mind they definitely can't give you the word the day of your 16th month mark because a convention or another bride can still request to book on that day. Ok, so, I emailed my sales consultant yesterday to get a status update on our date/location/whatever else I can squeeze out of them info-wise.
Our SC told me that we had our date, June 7th, on hold for Sea Breeze Point and we could start working on an LOA this June 7th. :headache:
Ok, so, they got the wrong venue put on hold for us. There are a lot of DFTW Brides & Grooms booking and whatnot throughout the year and this kind of thing can happen, but I'm somewhat irritated by this because:
1. We did a site tour with them. Face to face. Visited the locations with our SC. Saw them put our info down on our locations in front of us and shook our hands. Casitas Courtyard. Tamu Tamu.
2. Before the site tour I had emailed them back and forth a few times stating our new wedding date and they still had us in the system for our old date when we came in for the tour. :sad2:
3. I'm pretty sure from what I've read is that if I'm using a non-ballroom location or a theme park reception w/SBP, our LOA should be able to be drafted about now. Not at the 12 month mark.
So, yeah, this isn't really a big deal. People are bound to make mistakes. Perfectly reasonable. But I can't help but wonder how much more won't make it into the system when it should with my SC. Hoping my wedding planner is much better at this kind of things when we get to that point and that they won't be so overwhelmed and overlook things like this.
Ok, venting complete! ...sorry...

Your STD's and Monogram turned out wonderful! Yay for hitting the 16 month mark today! I just noticed your getting married 1 year and 1 day after me!
Thanks! and how cool! Well if you come to disney for your first anniversary you might get a chance to crash our ceremony.

Ok, my sales consultant got back to me this week and told me that we now have Coronado Springs booked for our ceremony...with a little hitch.
I guess a big group is coming to the resort during our wedding and will be using every room in the convention center at Coronado Springs. Therefore, as of now, we have no planned back-up location if it is rainy. Oh well. I'm not too worried about it. Our sales consultant is talking with the Director of Coronado Springs to see what they can work out for a back up rainy day location. Cool. I really didn't want our back-up in a convention center room.
So we'll see what the new back-up location could be for us in this space they aren't very familiar with planning a wedding. :confused3
We also pinned down the LOA timing business. At 13 months we can plan our room block and at 12 months we can draft our LOA and pay our deposit. Don't think I'll try to put up a fuss about it and take a nap instead. ;)
I sent in our form and have chosen Jack Day as our officiant. He called me today and asked if I was working with DFTW to get married at Casitas Courtyard. I assured him we were and he wouldn't get kicked off of property for performing an unauthorized nuptial at Coronado Springs. He didn't really seemed to believe me, so I gave him my sales consultant's name and he recognized the name and said he would have to give my SC a call just to check. It was a kind of strange call but an understandable one and in the end he was very friendly and sweet.
Our save the dates came in from Vistaprint! They turned out beautifully. I'm pretty surprised that I managed to make enough space for a KTTW card to fit between the print without overlapping anything sight unseen on a 4x5 card. :woohoo:
I did figure out how the attach them: removable glue dots. They worked great. The only issue I had was when I looked at the STDs a day after I put them together, the cards had detached. :headache:
This happened because I should have put the glue on the magnets instead of the KTTW card which made them detach over time. D'OH! So, I had to redo them tonight and dispose of most of the dots I had used before. At least AB got a kick out of throwing a glue dot ball at the wall and seeing it stick. As soon as I finish fine tuning our wedding website, these puppies are getting postmastered and I'll be taking another nap before moving on the the next round of wedding fun-ness.

Can't believe that I never came across your PJ and posted!!! :headache:
I'm here now, to follow along, as I love your venue, so different and unique! Will you be in Disney after your weeding for your honeymoon? If so, might bump into each other if you stay long enough, we plan on being at Disney around the 14th.
Can't wait to read more about your plans!!! :goodvibes

Ok, so, after months and months of looking at cakes and asking DF what he likes and doesn't like to the point of him asking me not to show him anymore cakes until I found one, I have found one aaaaaannddd...DF likes it too!!!
Wonder of wonder! Miracles of miracles!! (fiddler on the roof reference! yeah I'm a theater geek) Here it is:
http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t139/flaschdansser/Wedding%20Photos/mwd103407_wi08_molded_xl.jpg
We'll probably not do the top layer of this cake and get a vine pattern with little butterflies and dragonflies done in place of the red flower buds.
DF isn't to crazy about the color so we might go with it in this blue instead of the coral pink that I think is just dreamy.
http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t139/flaschdansser/Wedding%20Photos/msw_spring06_garland_cake_xl.jpg
I found some molds of flowers to make the medallions out of fondant. Hopefully, Disney would be willing to use them AND give them back so I can make cookies from them on our anniversary.
Bottom tier medallions alternating around the cake:

Top medallion

We may or may not paint the medallions to look like this...

...only in a color matching the cake. :cloud9:

Love the cake ideas! I'll be very interested to hear how things go with Disney when you bring the ideas to them -- I hope they can do what you want, and the idea of using the molds afterwards for anniversary cookies is so sweet (pardon the pun!)!

Yeah, I'm not sure how that would work out with Disney. Hopefully, they'll be accommodating. Fingers are crossed while still looking at cakes, just in case. Martha Stewart Wedding is my crack and I can't help but ogling each pretty wedding thing as soon as I get the email announcing the newest issue is on news stands.
I'll be sure to post about it when I talk to someone about the springerle molds for the cake.
BTW I liked the pun. They're always welcome in this thread. :thumbsup2
I can't wait to learn how to make springerle dough to make the cookies. Then all I'll need are some lederhosen to wear while I'm baking just like the lady on the springerle mold website. :rotfl2:

Since my birthday in January, I have put into motion an effort to lose weight. I've been the heaviest I have ever been because of my current job and the lack of exercise I got working there. :sad2:
I am happy to report that, so far, I have lost 9 pounds with at least 10 to go!:banana:
Speaking of my job, I'm not so sure I should keep working there. I'm in a bit of a dilemma that is wreaking havoc on my system and mental health. Right now I'm working a job that requires an extreme amount of intense focus and concentration, a crazy amount of studying and outside work, and intensive training that only focuses on what you do wrong every day for about three years. With progress comes pay increases that lead up to a six figure income. Here's the thing, I don't think I'm really meant to do this job. The more I work at it, the more I feel less able to do the job. I'm a sociable person with only so much focus.
I've never felt so lonely and bad about myself as I do at this job. Granted the pay is amazing and the benefits rock. Plus, it's stable but is that really worth it? I feel like I'm neglecting my family, health and happiness. I really don't want to come home everyday frazzled and stressed out and take it out on DD.
I know I don't want that. I also know that if I leave this job, I might not be able to pay for the wedding we want or at the very least push it back even more. :sad1: Pushing the wedding back really isn't a big deal to me but DF and I agreed to not have any more children until after the wedding and that would mean we would have to wait even longer to have a second child. DD will be 5 and I'll be 30 by the time we would have a second baby with the wedding date as it is. UGH
So, yeah, kind of in a stitch right now and not so sure what to do. Just want to be happy. :confused3
Do Disney employees get a wedding discount? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Ok, so, I'm liking two of the colors I picked for our color palette, ice blue and coral pink, but I'm not sure about buttercup yellow for the third color. I'm starting to lean towards a coffee bean brown instead of the yellow. We could also just add brown to the other three colors. I'm just not sure. So, I'm taking votes.
Option #1: Original Colors

Option #2: Ice blue, Coffee & Coral

I can completely relate to your job woes (minus the great pay part...) I used to be a teacher and felt completely the same way... I loved teaching..when it was good... which was not that often :( I felt stressed, lonely, and completely helpless in my position. It felt so unrewarding.... I am no longer in the teaching field at the moment, and I still feel like I am meant to do something in regards to the schools? But maybe not in the classroom? I do feel like I made the right choice for this point in my life but it is definitely not a good feeling when you dread going to work everyday.

I'm happy to take your .02 and put it in my pocket! :) I have to agree with #3 being a bit busy. I think I only kept it because I want all of us girls to wear yellow shoes, but now I'm thinking we should all just wear chuck taylors. Boys and girls. Blue for the guys and whatever I can get that's close to coral or cream for the girls. At least we all would be comfortable. :thumbsup2
Other than that, I don't know where I'd use the yellow. :confused3 Not a huge fan of it.

This weekend was DD's 3rd birthday!! We had a Tangled theme birthday party complete with Rapunzel birthday cake, a Rapunzel dress and toddler bedding set from Grandma, and pink & purple balloons EVERYWHERE. DD got quite a haul (including a princess sing-a-long CD player we bought from disneystore.com that doesn't work and they won't exchange!) and two helpings of birthday cake because my cousin's birthday was the day before DD's and had his party the same day as DD's.
So in the morning, DF, another cousin (who is 20), my Dad and I played laser-tag with a gaggle of 8/9 year-old boys in a black-lit room. Which BTW revealed that two of the diamonds in my ring are probably FAKE!:headache:
The two outer diamonds in my engagement band started glowing a milky white color while the rest of my diamonds in the ring were black under the glow of black light. I'm not sure what I should do or what I'm entitled to. I'm pretty sure we weren't told that some of the stones were fake in my band, so I'm fairly upset by this.
On another note, we sent out our STDs today! Fortunately, they only needed one stamp a piece. I was so worried it would be more because of the magnet inside each envelope, but it was all for nothing. :woohoo:
We have 111 people on out guest list as of today. Keeping my fingers crossed that about half will say they can't come or they're coming without a date/their kids. Otherwise, we'll have to find a different location for the reception again. Yikes.

Ok, after looking at color palettes for weddings online to make what I had picked out work. I finally decided the color I liked most out of the colors I picked was the blue. Still liked pink but started to get sick of looking at the coral and noticing there weren't too many resources available to make items for the wedding in coral pink. So we switched to shades of blush. Finally, i took out the yellow and brown options and opted for taupe/nude. Here's the look:

So, I feel like I'm the most indecisive bride on the Dis or maybe I'm sharing too much too soon without making final decisions. To be honest this has consistently been my style in life. Always changing paper themes and project ideas at the last minute in school. At least most of them worked out in the end.
I've been looking at our seemingly ever-growing guest, the money we can put aside each paycheck (without riding mules to work and eating nothing but recycled paper for every meal) and the day we need to submit our final payment. As of now, the numbers aren't adding up to what they need to. Therefore, DF and I had to have a serious talk about the wedding yesterday. We are looking at pushing the wedding back to October and retooling our guest list to ensure only 50 people, at most, come to the wedding. Otherwise, we're looking at changing locations, extra costs across the board and sacrificing what we want on our wedding day. DF is a minimalist and I'm a lazy "thank you" note writer, so, thankfully, we're on the same page with all of this.
BRIDEZILLA moment:
I called my mom last night to discuss my and DF decision of changing the date to save more money and cut the guest list to 50. She comes back with, "Oh, ok. I wanted to invite some people from work but you haven't asked me." :scared1::headache:
I'm a bit irritated by this because I had just told her we're trying to set a reasonable budget with a small guest list and both Mark and I don't really want anyone there that we don't know personally. We don't want strangers seeing us cry or having an awkward "hello and thanks for coming" in our receiving line. We just want a day to celebrate with those most important to the two of us.
On the other hand, she is paying for part of the wedding and I feel guilty for maybe having to talk with her about this and put a nix to it. DF thinks we should give her a list of the people we want to invite and tell her to choose who shouldn't come in place of some of her coworkers.
Is this too big a bridezilla thing or am I being reasonable?

I think that you are definitely being reasonable.. I had a talk similar to this when we first began putting together the guest list. DF was SUPER overwhelmed as to how LARGE my family is and how many people my father had wanted to invite from work, etc. DF's total list, friends included, is 49 people. Mine is about 3 times that.. BUT, as I explained to him MY PARENTS are PAYING for a large majority of the wedding.. us only having to pay for flowers and transportation. So we REALLY couldn't say much..
On your hand though I would just sit down and talk to your mom and try to reason with her, she is paying part of it.. but not for all of it. Unless she can contribute a little bit more money on the funds part, there really isn't any give in as to how many more people can be invited to the wedding because you cannot afford it. And see what she says??
Hopefully it all works out.. if the pleasant way doesn't work.. do what your DF says, show the list and tell her to replace who she wants with who she wants to invite from work and see how it goes?

I'm really sorry you may have to postpone the wedding... I don't really have any suggestions for you on your guest list... I wish I did since I wish I could get away with not inviting some of the people on mine. I'm up to 80 not including anyone DF's mom would want to invite... they don't have much family and if it wasn't for DF's friends then most of that list would be mine... which is why on one hand I feel bad not adding some guests she would want to invite and on the other I don't really care since those people DF doesn't really care for... but anyways enough about that. Thanks for the support. Mom did text me today and said she didn't need to invite some of the people from work. She didn't realize or didn't let it sink in that we were trying to keep things small. So, at least that is ok now.
Even though now I'm getting static from my aunt for changing the date because she was planning on taking a cruise a couple of days after our wedding and now we changed the day she's freaking out even though she hasn't even booked the cruise. She told me none of her family will come and no one else will probably come if we keep changing the date and we should just get married at home because obviously we can't afford this wedding. :scared1: Overreaction much? Oh well, five new spots for guests that would be happy to come to the wedding, even it if has been postponed by four months. :thumbsup2

Thank you. I'm kind of relieved about moving the date back four months it gives us a little more time to save and pick exactly what we want, how we want to do it and execute a better plan on who to invite and how to invite them. Before now, we've been kind in a "let's get this done without really thinking this through" and it's been driving DF crazy. Making a concrete plan now that we have a better idea will make things so much easier.
As far as the guest list goes, I think we'll send out a card letting everyone on our STD list that the wedding has been postponed indefinitely. Then we'll wait until we sign our LOA and send out new STDs to our first round picks of guests and ask for pre-RSVPs then gauge who else we can invite off of that.
Hopefully that can keep our budget in check more easily. :teacher:

Now that we picked our colors, not changing them! (mantra), I think I've got the invitation design pinned down. Here it is for review and constructive criticism.

We plan on having a pocket invite in our taupe color and maybe an ice blue matte inside with extra details for the (I'm assuming) several people who won't look at and retain info from our website. So more to come from that in the coming many more months. :)

Invite looks FAB. Only thing I would recommend is to make your names a little bit larger to stand out a bit more?? Bigger font size, bold? After all it is all about you two! Maybe add middle names too? I feel like it makes everything sound a bit more formal.. ;] Just minor things. Otherwise, loves them.

I'll look into the bigger font for our names. ;) The original does have our middle names, I just didn't feel comfortable posting them on a public forum. :)

It is unofficially official. We have changed our wedding date to October 25th, 2012. We are sticking to this date come hell or high water and I'm feeling like this is the time of year I wanted us to get married during all along. :cloud9:
The weather will be much more tolerable. Animal Kingdom will close earlier so we can have the reception at a more decent hour without the need for a cocktail hour/pre-reception as a buffer between the ceremony and when we can get into the park. We can go to MNSSHP and even work our theming towards some Nightmare Before Christmas action. Not sure how much we'll do this.
I'm thinking more along the lines of Jack & Sally meet garden romance. Also of thinking of doing a Tim Burton/Halloween themed reception with each table devoted to a different Tim Burton movie. DF is a Nightmare Before Christmas fan and I'm a big Edward Scissorhands girl. Rather have a scissorhands wedding with topiaries/ice sculptures, shish kabobs, lemonade, and fake snow instead of petals on the tables. :rotfl: I'm sure the idea will evolve and change over time. After all, I'm indecisive Kristen!

OMG. I am in LOVE with your ideas! I wanted to do something Tim Burton-esque I absoutely love everything about his style.. and Johnny Depp too! ha. Edward Scissorhands is by far my favorite movie of his! :banana:
Cannot wait to see what you come up with! I think you can totally pull of the Jack & Sally garden romance thing! Just use darken garden hues.. deep rose, purples, blues, with hints of yellow and it will still work with the Jack & Sally thing! OMG, my brain is turning with ideas for you!
Such a nerd I am! You're making me double think my theme!
We were going to do a Nightmare-esque wedding but using Mickey and Minnie instead.. but I wanted to do a Halloween wedding.. which of course.. Halloween isn't on a weekend in 2012 though. :confused3 Wah!

lilsqueaker - Thanks! I'm starting to do my research to figure out how we'd do the reception for as little cost as possible. I know we're going to have an orange, peach, green, taupe and ivory palette for the ceremony. For the reception, I don't think we'll go for a palette and just let the theme run on each table.
It's still taking shape, so, yeah. If you re-theme because of this, then, hey, I take it as a compliment as long as credit is given where credit is due. ;) Who knows I might steal from you too idea-wise. :thumbsup2

This is going to be an all-over post, I can feel it. So, bear/bare with me if you can.
I had oral surgery over a week ago and just started eating solid foods again. I'm hoping this gave my weight loss a leg-up and I can keep it up. If only I could get to a scale...
I'm still on a no-talking terms with my angry aunt even though she sent me a text to (sort or) apologize. Not letting her off that easy.
My job is still, if not more, in a shakey place. It's government work and if Congress doesn't get their act together by the end of the week, I could be without work or pay for who knows how long. :sad2:
I just started to book with Misty Miotto for our photography and, thankfully, got the news about the furloughs at work before I sent off our deposit.
I have a new inspiration board, but when I upload it to photobucket, it shows up as an all blue-hued picture. Tried bunches of times to fix it to no avail.
So here's the thought process so far: bridesmaid dresses in different shades of green dresses with white flowers tied with bright burnt orange ribbons.
Chairs for the ceremony arranged in a circle with orange, peach and cream/ivory balloons (BIG ones if the price is right) tied to the chairs with green ribbons.
I have more ideas but DD is wanting to look at wedding pictures and has asked me to put this in my post:
pirate:pirate:pirate:pirate:
See ya later with more ideas and happier news and updates (hopefully)!

Tagging along! I apologize for a post that's all over the place, I just read the entire thread :surfweb: (minus the tired eyes)
Everything looks fantastic so far, I'm loving your dress, shoes, invites, all of it! Coronado Springs is a beautiful property, it's awesome you're going to be the first to have a ceremony there. And AK is my one of my favs, Tamu Tamu Courtyard is a stunning location for a reception.
Soooo jealous of the October wedding, we were going to do 10/31/2012 and do a Nightmare theme because we're both obsessed, but we didn't want to wait almost 2 years and this October is too soon for us financially. Now I can live vicariously through your PJ!
I'm sorry about your job, I'm also in a similar situation (minus the awesome pay). What it comes down to is, whatever makes you happy. I hope everything works out.
And don't feel bad about changing your mind! It's what we do :goodvibes I'm glad I'm not the only indecisive Kristen..wait until my PJ is up :rotfl2:

Oh well, I think it's pretty funny how that is working out with planning and you and I liking the same stuff. I'm thinking of adding something to the green and orange scheme to soften the vibe a bit. It's so vibrant from what I've seen that when I look a my colors, I taste starbursts. :lmao: Need something to tone it down a notch. Maybe pink, or paper brown bag, or golden yellow. Gah!! So, so indecisive...

So, in February I called my dress shop about my dress. They told me they got notice that it had been shipped and should be in by the end of the month. Here we are, it's April and no phone call from the dress shop. I called them earlier this week and the girl on the line told me she couldn't access the files on the computer and the manager was gone for the day, but she would leave a note to call me the next day.
The next day comes and I hadn't heard from them by the afternoon. So what does a worrier like me do? I call them and try to sound as innocent and inconspicuous, but the manager knew who I was as soon as I called. After getting a big drawn out explanation, the bottom line is: they don't know where my dress is and they won't get any information from the dress maker until after this weekend. :sad2:
Yes, I know I have 18 months before I need it, but I want it here when I'm told it will be here or I want a refund. I don't know if the latter is even possible. :confused3 I wouldn't mind going dress shopping again and getting a gown I'm more sure about, especially since we know more details about the wedding day and whatnot.
Oh well, on the upshot, I wasn't furloughed this weekend AND I booked Misty Miotto as our photographer!:banana::banana:

(Sigh) Ok, I love this picture. I love the colors. I love the warm hues with the cool from the dress. I want this. So, I think this is what I want most for our colors. I swear this color scheme thing is the most daunting task I've had so far. But I really do think this is it and DF (or FH is what I prefer) seems to like it, but at this point he's happy with whatever I pick and stop asking him about it. :lmao:

Ok, DF likes this palette. I like the palette (purple is my favorite color). It looks good with pictures of Casitas and Tamu Tamu Courtyards. So I think this might be it. :yay:
http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t139/flaschdansser/Wedding%20Photos/6697D80BD54B45D8ACBFEB478A783DB7ashx-1.jpg
Wine, Mauve, Latte and Cream.
With this palette, I have to get over some hang ups, like, now. I liked this palette from the beginning of planning but then I've heard purple is really popular and my MOH used purple in her wedding palette and a girl my BMs don't care for from our college used purple in her palette last year (so catty, I know). So, I kept ruling it out. But I do love it and purple flowers are easy to find/cheap to buy in bulk.
On another note, the dress shop finally figured out what was going on with my dress and it's SUPPOSED to be shipping out tomorrow and be in by the end of the week. So, good news my dress has been found. Bad news, no excuse to go dress shopping a second time for a gown I'd probably like better.
Oh, well, at least my mom won't get an ulcer about it anymore.

I really like these BM dresses but depending on cost and fit, they might change. (I should get my $1 bills ready to go for my jar ) However, I'm certain that if we order from this company, we'll get the dresses in these colors.

I want the girls to have uniform look but be distinct also. These dresses look pretty light weight and hopefully they won't be too pricey. Especially since I offered to pay for their dresses.
I've also found DD's flower girl dress from the same site. I wish I could order it now but she is growing like a weed right now. Who knows how tall she'll be in 18 months. She grew 4 inches between age 2 & 3!:scared1:

Ok, so, still no word from the bridal boutique (they were supposed to call me a week ago about my dress coming in). My mom is planning on calling them next week to chew them out and get some answers. If they can't give us any solid information then mom is going to file a dispute with her credit card company.
I'm kind of wishing she'd just start the dispute but on the other hand, after doing a bit of dress shopping (just in case) I can't help but feel discouraged until I've lost more weight. I tried on a dress this last time that I really, really liked. Definitely sold on, but had to wait. I had the sales consultant take a few pictures of me in the dress I liked. After looking at the pictures, I was a bit brought down at how I looked. :sad2:
I can't seem to find a dress that I like that I feel beautiful in also. So I guess I need to get my booty in gear so I can lose it and then find the best pair of spanx I can afford before I go dress shopping again (if I end up needing to after next week).

Hey everyone,
I know it's been a little bit since I've posted here. Things have been kind of stressful lately and there hasn't been too much going on wedding-wise.
My dress has arrived and I tried it on about a week ago. It's a perfect fit, but I'm hoping to still lose more weight. The lace layers are lopsided and they bunch up at the waist making my hips look bigger than they already are. So, the bridal shop is sending the dress back to the designer and making them fix it. If the designer can't fix it at her shop, we have to wait for the manufacturer in China to recut a whole new dress.
So, if things go well, my dress should be back by the beginning of July. At this point, I'm pretty indifferent about the whole thing. It will get here when it gets here. On the upshot, I might be able to get the designer to take the zipper out of the dress and give it a corset back. Which is what I really wanted anyways. :)
DD tried on some flower girl dresses while we were there. She was so cute! She loved trying on the dresses and had me carry her skirt/train every time we went out to stand on the pedestal to look at her. :lovestruc
It looks like she'll be getting a dress with a corset back as well but with a colored ribbon so she can kind of match me but still be unique.
As far as stressful stuff going on, more problems at work are coming up which makes for excessive worrying on my part. I'm in training at my job. It's a very intense training program that can last anywhere from two to three years. I'm about to be tested in my level of training to see if I can move on in training/get a pay raise/keep my job. The problem is, I'm not doing so well in training. It's a job that demands perfection at all times and constant alertness and I'm just not making the cut as far as my trainers think. Lately, this is making not sleep well, feel sick every time I eat and I can hardly remember anything anymore. My testing is going to be sometime in the coming week and I don't know what is going to happen if I end up losing my job right now.
We just put a bid in on a good house at a great price. The title company is backed up and if we don't get the paperwork and get approved for our mortgage loan before I lose my job, we won't get the mortgage and won't get the house. We also won't be able to afford a DFTW. I can't ask my parents to help pay for it and I don't want to postpone it any longer.
I'd like to go back to school and get a 2-year degree in drafting. I enjoyed doing it in college and think I'd be happy doing it as a career. Still, money is a concern (as always).
Sorry to come back and unload all of this on here, but I really don't know who else to talk about this to/with. If stuck with this post this far, thanks for reading and staying with me. So, I guess I'll update again at the end of the week and decide whether or not I should be continuing this PJ. Or just posting pictures from City Hall one day.

We are officially 16 months out and can be booked!!...again :woohoo: (but we can't really be penciled in until Monday when DFTW is at the office again!) :teacher:
So that's good news! Also, my dress has come in...again. And it is fixed and looks great. I've made peace with my dress. It looks nice on me and fits perfectly. So, no more wedding dress drama from me!
In other news, DF and I are moving along in the process of buying our first house. We are buying from HUD aka: the government and this basically means that every step of the process has been trying to walk out of a briar patch and not being Brer Rabbit. But we are getting a great deal for a decent amount of house that needs a bit of work.
Unfortunately, we may have to back out of the deal in the next few days. My job has decided to stop training me and help me find a smaller facility to transfer to. There are two possibilities for me to transfer to here in my city. One is probably not taking any more controllers and the other I'm still waiting to hear about. If the second place has an opening I'll apply for the job and keep every digit on every person I know crossed that they'll take me. The process is long and drawn out and I'll be in limbo for what could be a relatively long time, all the while navigating through that good ole Briar Patch. :sad1:
Otherwise, we'll have to move to another part of the country if I want to keep doing this kind of work and be guaranteed a job. I've never done that long term and it kind of makes me sick to my stomach. We'd leave all of my family, take DD from the only grandparents she knows (who, BTW are now talking divorce).
On the upshot, there are quite a few facilities near Orlando that might need me...:wizard:
Ok, enough of that. I'm starting to reconsider having our reception at Tamu Tamu. I'm thinking maybe we'll switch to the Whitehall Room if it would be a better fit financially. Mark doesn't seem to hate it so much. ;)
While Tamu Tamu is interesting and different, it seems terribly small and the layout for everything seems like it would be really weird (like the dace floor would be in a corner behind a half-wall :confused3
It could rain and I'd like to at least know that one thing we have planned will be the same no matter what. And I think we'll have to wait until October to be booked...once more.
So, I guess my dilemmas are: to keep the house or not to keep the house?
and
Tamu Tamu or Whitehall?
Oh, yeah. I think I figured out what we'll do for a welcome party the night before the wedding -- the Fort Wilderness campfire sing-a-long/marshmallow roast! It's free (always a bonus) and I think we'll make little s'mores packs for everyone that comes and just mingle and get a sugar high together.
I'm also thinking of doing a drinking around the world bachelor/ette party at EPCOT on the tuesday before the wedding. Gives us a day to recover. I do know that the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue has all you can drink sangria...so maybe that instead.
I have other ideas and things kicking around in this indecisive brain of mine but I don't think I'll share them until they are firmed up a little bit more. That is unless you girls are taking bets on what will actually make it to final BEO and TR. If that's the case, I want in too!!

After much discussion, putting numbers to paper and eating lots of ice cream, Mark and I have decided we won't be buying a house at this time. I'm a little bummed about it but I'm also glad to say that the money we would have put into the house we can put into our DFTW fund. :cool1:
On that note, we have also decided that we're going to switch to the Whitehall Room for our reception. We can end up saving over $3,000 :scared1: :thumbsup2 by making the switch and still do what we're planning, for the most part. Sadly, we'll be letting go of the guests riding on Kilimanjaro Safari right before the reception, experiencing Animal Kingdom atmosphere after dark, a possibly melting cake and we'll be cutting our mosquito quota in half!
I want to make our wedding super fun and whimsical and colorful. I have so many ideas and I just want to make a cohesive look for the whole think before I go all indecisively crazy and picture happy on here.
We're looking at a kind of carnival/mad tea party vibe with lots of fun stuff thrown in everywhere. Now we just need to figure out how to make it work...

I know it seems to be happening to everyone I know too. I'm glad we get to keep the money we would have put into the house but I'm a bit sad that DD won't have her own yard to play in whenever she wants. Oh well, she loves the park. So she doesn't really seem to mind at all. :)
Yeah I'm excited to be getting the two venues at one time situation. The monorail obstruction doesn't look too bad and I'm not that much of a bridezilla to get the vapors over it. Definitely going to go with an outdoor dinner on the patio with dancing and highboy tables inside so we won't get too crowded or have to worry about the noise curfew.

Thanks! I'm thinking tree branches and candles and a pastel color scheme...
Still tooling around with details. Lots of time to keep changing my mind. ;)

The WHR&P is booked for our day!!:sad1:
We have been penciled in for the 25th in the St. James Room. :rolleyes2 Not gonna lie, don't want to offend, but no thanks. It's just a regular ballroom with a patio. Really not what I want otherwise, I might as well get married here at home with a prom on the other side of the temporary wall and the same chicken dish that I've had about six times before at my friends' weddings. :crazy2:
However, the 24th and 26th are available. After some quick thinking and looking at Mark with the "puppy dog/what do you think we should do?" look, we chose to go with the 26th. It's a friday, which means our minimum will increase. Luckily, we were going to end up spending more than that on thursday. I'm starting to think this will work out better for us in the long run as long as any outside vendors we may use don't up their price for a Friday night...
So, we are now an October 26th, 2012 DFTW.

The HalloWishes fireworks are awesome! I've seen it twice. They fire off all around the perimeter of the park. I was just blown away by that as I'm sure you two will be as well. :)
I think the Friday before Halloween should be a good bet for seeing them from WHR :wizard: and it will tie in nicely with the Jack & Sally thing we've got planned. pirate::bride::santa:

Ugh I'm so sorry to hear that! But glad that you were able to switch and things will still work out. Was it a conference that had the room booked or did you lose the lottery to another wedding? Or did you decide to switch after the 16 month mark and it was already taken? Sorry for the 20 questions lol
I had to move our date too b/c a conference kept us from being able to book our ceremony location so I know how it feels :sad2:

I saw that had happened to you but at least you made it work out. I'm guessing we asked to change it after the 16 month mark and someone already had it booked. Most conferences last longer than a day and the WHR was open the day before and after. We just chose the 25th because we liked having a thursday wedding, but a friday event will work too.
Just can't wait to get all my plans sorted out and posted. We still have so much time to go!

In an effort to keep Mark from going insane by listening to me babble on about wedding ideas and then changing my mind, I have decided to have a Wedding Talk Day once a month. We have set aside one day a month that we will talk about a certain aspect of the wedding and set it in stone.
On the horizon: Talking about what really want/don't want and what is most important. It's a "Let's Blue Sky our wedding and work from this together" discussion because, I'll be honest, I've been pouring myself over so many things lately and working off of being totally unsure about what FH wants that it's been stressing me out and I'll I've done is "wah wah wah" on here. I'm sick of doing that. He loves to make jokes when I ask him questions so I can never get a straight answer out of him when I would really appreciate one. He wants a slip 'n' slide aisle runner ending at a bouncy castle altar, a boutonniere made of buttons in the shape of an ear (get it? A Button-Ear!) and he wants to wear shorts instead of a tux.
Hopefully we can get this wedding into shape, for realsy. I'm thinking of putting up a piece of paper in our kitchen with these questions for him and see if he'll think about it before WTD. I can't wait to see what hilarity may ensure from this little exercise. popcorn::
I'm really starting to gun for a masquerade wedding. How fun would it be to have everyone in fun, exotic costumes with fancy masks on during the ceremony AND reception?
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_hPccvN_cwpw/SHYrG6ib-jI/AAAAAAAAAnU/HzMQBN8H7-U/s400/lobby1.gif
I'll let you know how it goes in about a month since I missed this month's day by 24 hours after making this decision. :rotfl2: Whoops!
On an upswing...Mark did like the idea of a Trash the Dress session instead of us plummeting down a side by side water slide into a shallow pool filled with our guests to begin the ceremony.

Kristen - I know what it is like to have a joking man around. You quite often can't get a serious word out of my DH. It is fun most of the time, but when you are trying to get a decision made, it can be darn right annoying!!! However, I really think that your DF may have hit on something with the 'button Ears'. It would be great to have a Mickey head made of coloured buttons. Very Disney!!!

Agreed, it can be fun living with a jokester until it's time to get serious. I'll have to run the mickey ears idea by him and see if he goes for it. Pretty sure he wants an anatomically correct human ear pinned to his lapel/tuxedo t-shirt. He'd probably rig it to squirt water too...

:rotfl2::rotfl2: I LOL at this. Oh boys, why do you think the way you do??! Brian wants a wrestler for our officiant, to wear some weird white suit from the 1970's (which I believe he wore for a Halloween costume and bought from a flea market), and some other random weird things--all which are not going to happen.
Masquerade wedding would be fun! And the once a month talk would be great! I'm sure Brian would have appreciated it if I had thought about something like this. I try, TRY not to talk about it non-stop. Good thing we have these boards!!!

I haven't told Mom about the trash the dress session and I have to check the fabric tag for my dress to make sure it won't be destroyed. I'm hoping she won't go catatonic when I break the news.

I'm hoping it will help with a bit of friction we've had lately. Every time I think of something and want to tell him, I stop myself and remember to save it for WTD. We actually talk about other things now. It's...nice. :lovestruc

I believe that I have found an outfit for DD as the flower girl. She has seen pictures and loves it. It's very her. She is requesting it to be red because it is her favorite color. Here is a shot of it:
http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t139/flaschdansser/Wedding%20Photos/il_570xN254623426.jpg
I can order it custom to her size and any color(s) I want. I really want to order it now but, DD grows like a weed and who knows how tall she'll be at 4 1/2 years old. :confused3
So we play the waiting game and hope this person is sill making them this time next year. Not sure what to do for her top though. I'm thinking maybe a light button up sweater or a leotard if it's really warm that day.
Any ideas?

Ok, so our date has been changed and set and the wedding is a go for the 26th. We have an officiant booked and a photographer deposited on...er...that is...to say we did.
We had Reverend Jack Day scheduled as our officiant when we were having the wedding in June. After finally getting a reply from him about our change, it turns out he's unavailable. (insert sad panda...here) We also have booked Misty Miotto but after some soul searching and deliberating and looking at her photos over and over and over again, I just didn't feel like she was right for us. I recently sent off a message to her letting her know that we had a change of heart and wouldn't be needing her after all. Yes, I just ate about $400, but in the long run I think it will be for the best.
I have since found a photographer that has a style that is more to my liking and a price that doesn't get a spit take from me when I see it for the first time.
As for our officiant, we have booked (or so I think) Glynn Ferguson. I have to say that I liked him right off. On Sunday I put in a contact request on his site and he called me, not emailed an auto-response, but called me within 45 minutes of me clicking "enter." I was pretty surprised and delighted. He seems pretty open-minded to whatever we may want to do for the ceremony and actually laughed at a few of my terrible jokes about goat sacrifices (Halloween Ceremony joke, we don't really sacrifice them. We give them a stupid haircut and send him back into the pen to get made fun of by his goat friends).
The conversation went well and he said he would send me the info packet with ceremony options and whatnot. I thought he meant email, but I haven't gotten anything from him. So, I'm hoping it's coming via snail mail and will arrive any day now. I feel like a girl who went on a first date and am waiting for the guy to call her back.
So, that's it for now. T-minus 16 days until WTD.
Oh, yeah, I started a facebook group and an event page for our guests and so far about half have replied with "attending" or "maybe" and the the other half have not responded at all. I'm kind of frustrated by this and I know it is best to be patient but, come on, just about all of them for known about this for 10 months. Wouldn't they know some kind of answer by now?
Ugh, whiney diva moment....aaaaand I'm done.

Thanks. :) I guess we were both in the same boat when it came to photographers. At least you had enough sense to wait until your 16 month mark. ;)

The last few days have been interesting. I had to get a medical test done today that I wasn’t happy to have to go through. Luckily, my mom took the day off from work to either watch DD while Mark came with me to the doctor or to come with me while Mark stayed home with the little one. Since Mark didn’t seem up to seeing me in any discomfort today (he’s seen plenty of it the last couple of years), he volunteered to stay home. I met Mom at the doctor and she can, just like any great mom, read me like a book and could tell I was pretty nervous and tense. She did the best she could by asking me questions about the wedding. It wasn’t until today that I realized how little we talk about the wedding or how much she doesn't listen to me. :confused3
She wanted to know what we were doing that was going to involve Disney for the wedding. I told her that I wasn’t too sure about how much Disney we’d do, leaning towards less is more. She then kind of chuckled and asked what the point was in having it in Disney if we weren’t going to make the wedding all Disney-fied? I kind of calmly snapped and told her to not bug me about that viewpoint right now and that Mark and I haven’t even figured out what we really want to do yet. More questions about floral, issues about saving money, which guests that have pre-RVSP’ed “yes” would probably not come after all (because that’s how a lot of people are, according to her). It took my mind off of it but still stressed me out. Tomorrow is 15 months until this all happens and I don’t think I need to figure it all out now.
The test went well. I still cried during it and am feeling the residual side effects, but the results should turn out on the good phone call side, not the “you have cancer” phone call.
Mark came home last night and, of course, I was up due to nerves and the concentrated chai tea I consumed to get myself out of a muscle relaxer funk that had lasted for 24 hours due to some lower back spasms thought to me kidney stones (only took one, little yellow pill to zombify me!). We chatted for a bit and he asked what I was looking at on the computer. It had to do with the wedding and I just said I was looking at stuff I’m not supposed to talk about. 12 more days! He reacted with, “Oh, I want tails or a long jacket that makes me look like I’m wearing a dress too...” What? Did he just open up the taboo box? At 12:45 in the AM? Ok then, let’s look at the build a tux app for Jim’s formal wear and see what we can find that you like dear.
About an hour later, we picked out a preliminary look for him and Dahn Ta Duh! we have locked in our wedding colors. I know, I know. But these are it, not allowed to change it anymore.
Aqua, Light Green and Antique Gold

It's not very autumnal or Halloween-y but Mark wasn't keen on wearing orange and brown that close to the holiday. Go figure. He loves Halloween but doesn't really want to look like we're having a straight up Halloween wedding. Kind of thought that's what he would want. Oh well that's what WTD will be for. He also asked if we could change all of our last names to Doofenshmurtz after we're married...
Nowhere to go but forward!:bride:

Um I think Doofenschmurtz would be an amaze-balls last night! ;D
Love the color scheme.
Hope all is well with the dr. I know how nerve wracking that wait can be. Lots of pixie dust your way girlie.
Also, as far as the orange/brown thing goes..we're doing a Halloween-y wedding and our color scheme only has a smidgen bit of orange in it! =] It's totally do-able. But I do kinda love your new color schemes. Very soft and romantic!
No more Jack & Sally?

:rotfl: Glad you like the last name idea. Sorry if I don't tell Mark you're on his side. ;)
The new palette feels really fresh and it should look nice with both the Coronado Springs and WHR color schemes. Gonna try to keep some it Halloween-y and certainly going to keep Jack & Sally in some way. I'm still in loke with the cake I've designed (not ready to share it yet). It involves NBC, mainly the last scene of the movie and I think I don't have the heart to change it. So,in short, yes, Jack & Sally will still be around. After all aqua is about the color of Sally's skin. :thumbsup2

Woohoo! I cannot wait to see your cake design! I'm excited.
It's definitely a very fresh, soft, and romantic feel to your color scheme. Love.

Ok, first off: :lmao::rotfl::laughing: to Doofenshmirtz! That's too funny.
So, wow, I'm surprised that Mark broke the deal and decided to chat about wedding things early! But hey, it got you guys somewhere! :) I adore the new color scheme--It will look beautiful in CS. I'm so excited to see what else you guys come up with.
Wishing you are feeling and doing better soon! :wizard:

I'm still tweaking it and I need to redraw it. So excited for the design but I'm nervous someone will steal it and use it before we do. Sooo paranoid about this, it's kind of ridiculous.

Thanks Danielle! I just don't know. Kristen Doofenshmirtz does have a ring to it...
I was pretty surprised by it too but totally delighted. I'm going to try and be better about posting productive information.

I got my test results back and everything is ok. :thumbsup2 My doctors just want to keep and eye on me for the next year to make sure it stays that way.
Wedding Talk Day has been moved up to this Saturday because I'm impatient and Mark didn't seem to mind. Especially since he admitted to not knowing when it was going to be anyways.
I've been scouring, well not really, more like focusedly browsing, etsy for jewelry and anything else in our colors. I've found some jewelry that I'm going to have to whittle down to what I really like and will probably have to put to a vote here.
Also, found my dream shoes! :dance3: WAAAAY out of my price range.:sad2: So, back to shoe searching. Mark wants us to have matching custom Converse sneakers but I want something with a bit of a heel so my dress doesn't drag on the floor. He's willing to make a heel for the Converse we're looking at. I think I'll pass on that one.
Not much to post about today but it's something. :)

LOL. Too funny. I bring up anything wedding lately and Dave's face turns colors. He gets a bit annoyed with the way I constantly change my mind. I'm a girl. Get over it. =] It's going to happen.
If my mother would let me walk down the aisle to the alter in flip flops I would, so I would vote for the converse! Ha. But she almost crucified me! Woops!
So I'm actually working on custom shoes. They may be your best bet mama?
