Hi. My dd just started a photography class in high school and needs to buy a new digital camera. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a decent, inexpensive one($100-125) If she really loves photography then I'll consider getting her a good camera but for now i don't want to spend a lot. TIA.

Canon PowerShot A1100 IS (Pink). Blue, green, and gray are also available, but if it's grey it just matches everyone else's. The one below is refurbished, but for $99 I'm considering taking a chance on buying one. They range from $125 to $150 and are even worth the new price.

At the very least, check the specs of that camera and buy something comparable from Canon (or that other N brand). Look for a Digic4 processor on a Canon and optical image stabilization, and that it let's her cycle through the various shooting modes (Auto, P, Tv, Av, M, C...). That last part is important since it is a photography class. I'm not sure what the latest processor is on a Nikon, but I'm sure there is a similar camera.

Don't just buy one for looks.

Thanks so much!! She went to the mall earlier and got a Casio Exilim EX S8. It was on sale for $99:cool1: She now has to take 50 pics by Wednesday. I'm going to try to get her to check out this board and maybe get inspired. The pics you guys share are beautiful, I'm really enjoying them.
