I can't believe it! I left my Canon Xsi on the tripod and sat it off to the side so no one would knock it over and low and behold a dog comes out of no where with a leash dragging behind him, wraps the leash around my tripod and knocks it over. The camera landed on the concrete :guilty:. I checked everything on the outside of the camera and found that it landed on the corner where the SD card door is. The ding was very minimal but now I get the message that I need to format the card and when I try to format it with the camera it says it can't format it. I have also tried to format the card on my laptop and then insert it but I get the same message. Has anyone ever had this problem? I am so bummed... Of course this happens at the worse time. We are going to Disney this weekend and I missed a car show yesterday.. I hope it is an easy fix!:headache:

I have tried 2 other cards that I have used with that camera but I haven't tried a brand new card. Do you think that would make a difference?

Sorry about your camera.
Sounds like you might need to get it fixed ASAP or look into renting another body / getting a new camera in the next couple of days.

Sounds like the card interface is probably toast. I had a reader do something similar after I dropped it.

You might have some recourse from the dog owner for not having control of his or her pet, if you can track them down of course... bummer about the camera, sounds like a great time to upgrade to the Pentax k5!!!

Ouch, I know the feeling, I dropped my 85mm f/1.2 TWICE today! I just put it back in my bag and left it there the rest of the day. Thankfully the lens is okay as it landed on dirt, but UGH! I've also bounced my 50d with my 70-200 IS f/2.8 on the concrete on day - the lens hood saved the lens!
Oh, if it's broken, Canon has an Owner's Loyalty Program, I think an XS body through them is like $300, the XSi a little more or Adorama has them refurbished pretty cheap.

Sorry to hear about this. I recommend renting the same camera (http://www.borrowlenses.com/product/canon_bodies/Canon_XSi) - it's only $74 for 10 days. That should take care of your current needs. In the meantime, call Canon and see what they can do. If nothing else, they will often offer you deeper discounts on their refurbished units which will save you a lot.

Ouch sorry to hear about your camera. I hope that you got the dog owners info. Its a good thing that it didn't break the lense as well.

Well I finally got the camera to a repiar shop and the card interface was toast as photo_chick thought. I got i back yesterday and am so pumped to get shooting again... it's been a little over a month. Can you say withdrawls!!! The damage $220.00 not too bad I guess, could have been worse.
